Great idea, bad execution.
The movie had a lot of promise, but didn't quite deliver. I knew what the makers of this film are trying to do, but it seems like they weren't so sure on how to execute it in a way that would last for the entire length of the movie.

There were a lot of loopholes in the whole story, especially in the beginning when the girl meets the antagonist. The other victims felt like fillers, as if they didn't know what else to do. Some scenes, I felt, were unnecessary.

The actors are not going to get any awards any time soon because of this movie, but they're tolerable. The effects, sound and cinematography are surprisingly good for something that looks low-budget. The idea of the story is actually laden with a lot of potential, and I did like the twist in the end, but the coherence of it's entirety is another thing. I truly wish they have modified it more, because it would have made one helluva horror flick.

This contains a fair amount of blood and some gore. There are a few torture scenes that can be considered mild compared to movies like Hostel. Personally, I'm not a fan of torture movies, but this one was tolerable.

All in all, it's an okay movie to watch if there's nothing else. But I doubt it will be remembered five minutes after the end credits.

Underrated low-budget torture horror
heart_in_ohio27 February 2012
I thought this was a really great movie, and not accurately represented by its rating, definitely deserves higher than a 2. I loved the twist at the end, basically because I didn't see it coming (exactly). I did have somewhat of an idea where it was going to go, however I am glad it did go that way.

I will warn its sick and disturbing, but not any worse than any other torture horror. And if you're like me, the disturbing aspect is a positive. I really enjoyed the lead actress, thought she had a lot of personality.

Definitely not a movie for those who don't enjoy torture horror films. I've heard a lot of people didn't understand the ending, but its not very complicated if you can follow simple clues, especially in the dream sequences.

Only can think of one unanswered question and its really a minute detail: The car at the end. Not going to give anything away, but if you watch you'll see what I mean.

A+ for low budget torture porn.

Not too bad
shirleykramer2 April 2015
The film isn't top quality, but not horrible either. This movie is for when you are bored. The acting was pretty decent and the gore not too bad (that is: if you are used to something). It has a plot twist that is not much of a surprise, but it does give the film something extra. The idea for the plot was great, but not properly executed. Too many loopholes for the most part. I am left with many unanswered questions that the movie could have answered and that would have made the plot more interesting. Hence the low score. I was entertained for the night being though and therefore it still get's a six. Although I must admit, my expectations were very low, so I was surprised it wasn't as bad as I expected it to be.

THAT'S HOW WE DEAL WITH MONSTERS

Warning: Spoilers
Janine's vehicle runs off the road. The tow truck driver is a mute who then takes Janine captive. While captive we find out a few things that keep us interested in the film. Janine admits to being a thief and has a stolen photo album in her SUV which she claims is worth money. People are after it. In order to cope with captivity and the zap collar, she escapes into a dream world with her sister Alice where we discover she has daddy issues. What's in the photo album? What's with the dreams and daddy?

The mystery aspect holds our interest because the slow moving film does not. The mystery involves a twist ending, which didn't make the film much better. A borderline psychological thriller.

F-bomb, nudity (Sunny La Rose, Courtney Hogan)

Could've been better but could've been worse...

I watch a ton of low-budget, obscure, low-rated movies, because I watch so many movies, there just aren't enough new or big-budget films, or even B-movies, around that I want to watch. I am drawn to the unusual, suspense, twists, and mysteries that involve real characters, rather than spirits, although occasionally one of those will draw me in. I especially watch a lot of abduction movies that have a plot revealing how the abductor or serial killer came to be that way. Torture porn alone bores me to tears. So the appeal of this movie was to find out if there was a plot, or if it was going to be another snoozefest. I have to say, the plot was rather unique. I won't spoil it, I'll just say that I didn't turn it off due to boredom. I wanted to find out how it would end. The actors weren't spectacular, but the two main characters, Janice & her mute abductor, did a fine job. Unlike many of these low-budget attempts, it didn't appear to be made with obsolete 1990's equipment & the actors weren't wooden or pathetically fake, like so many are in this type of film. It will remain obscure, no doubt. But for those of us who scour sites (I like Tubi best for their massive catalog) for something not yet seen, it was a good find. I found the ending to be very gratifying, not a predictable formula outcome. So I gave it 4 stars, because it isn't bad, it's not amazing, but I don't regret watching it.
