Bill Cosby: Far from Finished (2013)
Unfortunate and kind of sad
I have been looking forward to Cosby's return to the stage, ever since Comedy Central began advertising the hell out of it weeks in advance. However, upon viewing, I couldn't help but to feel sad for the ol' legend himself. Unfortunately, most of his jokes were either so incoherent that didn't make sense and couldn't land a genuine laugh, or they simply weren't that funny. As a good friend of mine said "he's telling life stories... amusing anecdotes at best". Of course he elicited the occasional laugh or giggle in me, but the atmosphere throughout the entire thing just felt uncomfortable.
In contrast, the audience was often losing it with laughter. It genuinely makes me wonder: Were the laughs cued? Did they simply laugh in respect? Or even pity? I'm really confounded, and unsure of where it went wrong. Bill Cosby is a very funny man, but it seems something was lost in translation. In the end I question comedy central more than anyone, after all, I can't see any other reason to air this with so much publicity other than to exploit him.
On a positive note, it was great to see the man back in the spotlight and on the stage! I really appreciate his performance as well as his willingness to perform, because if it failed in every other area, it at least succeeded in satisfying that thirst fans like myself have for some more Cosby.
2/10
Keepsake (2010)
Underrated low-budget torture horror
I thought this was a really great movie, and not accurately represented by its rating, definitely deserves higher than a 2. I loved the twist at the end, basically because I didn't see it coming (exactly). I did have somewhat of an idea where it was going to go, however I am glad it did go that way.
I will warn its sick and disturbing, but not any worse than any other torture horror. And if you're like me, the disturbing aspect is a positive. I really enjoyed the lead actress, thought she had a lot of personality.
Definitely not a movie for those who don't enjoy torture horror films. I've heard a lot of people didn't understand the ending, but its not very complicated if you can follow simple clues, especially in the dream sequences.
Only can think of one unanswered question and its really a minute detail: The car at the end. Not going to give anything away, but if you watch you'll see what I mean.
A+ for low budget torture porn.
Cold Creepy Feeling (2010)
First horror film I've hated in years
I really am not sure where an appropriate place to start for this Title is. First of all, just to give a little perspective, I am a die-hard horror film fanatic. Perhaps its a natural inclination to the twisted and terrifying, or the elements of survival, or maybe the atmosphere. I have watched horror from every sub-genre, every decade, shot in every style, and from every country it seems like. In the last one/two year(s), I have watched 200+ horror films EASILY. Almost in every single case I have been able to find a redeeming quality or SOMETHING enjoyable about the film.
Not with "cold creepy feeling". Don't get me wrong, it was terrifying. I was terrified that I might gouge out my eyes after watching an hour and a half of this piece of garbage. I am really not trying to be mean either, like I said, I am the most generous horror movie fan you will ever meet.
The acting was terrible and forced. Especially from the lead actress, who was annoying and came off as fake and incompetent in her role.
The script was cheesy and absolutely juvenile.
The plot was old, tired, old, tired, old, and tired.
The camera quality and filming was the worst I have ever seen in any movie, including any other indie film.
And finally, the ending. I am not going to "give anything away" in the off chance that you make the horrible decision to waste your brain cells on this film that looks and feels like it was made by someone in prepubescence. However I will say is was the sour icing on this mud pie of a movie. It was rushed, didn't follow a logical train of thought, and was just plain awful.
