Better, But Too Rushed
mjcritelli21 May 2022
As someone who has watched every Law and Order episode multiple times, this episode helped me understand why the revival of this franchise is falling short. In this episode, I thought that the plot line was thoughtful, the acting was very good, the writing was good and the ending was well done. But I could not figure out why the revival is falling short.

This episode helped me understand why the producers have to figure out how to squeeze 3-5 more minutes into an episode. Two critical pieces of evidence, both videos, one on the street, and one of a two-year-old video exchange between the slain police officer and his girl friend, showed up to advance the story line. How either of them was created or found was simply not addressed; one showed up in the cross-examination of a witness, without any understanding of how the defense attorney could have gotten hold of it.

I suspect that staying in the 42-minute run time the producers have targeted is causing the explanatory part of the story line or even some character development to suffer. Whatever the case, the revival episodes, including this one, just do not have the richness in dialogue or character or plot development that the extra minutes for each episode.gave the original series.

McCoy Is A Mellowed Out Father Figure
shelbythuylinh20 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
He has come a long way since being the arrogant and win at all costs when he was on the show there but has mellowed into a father figure.

Still he and Price seem to go at it and they are not as combative there. Though McCoy was with both Adam Schieff and Arthur Branch who did not take crap from him and the only one who could outtalk the arrogant EADA.

Anyway still not used to Cosgrove and though he was out for blood over his slain officer friend there. Still glad Bernard calmed him down as it would had been ugly of all the suspects the duo has to confront and even witnesses.

Still the slain officer that was divorced or separated and had three kids, plus was dating a young African-American woman there. In defense questioning his racist views as the cop can't defend himself since he is no longer alive.

Just hope for a better season as Anthony Anderson only saving grace this season along with the "Practice" alum Cameryn Manheim as the no nonsense Captain.

Episode 10

Warning: Spoilers
Not as political as it could have been which is good, but still not quite good enough. I wanted more compelling drama in the courtroom, but it seems like they went for the drama outside that area which was a mistake.

Guest starring Mariska Hargitay, directed by Eriq La Salle
safenoe3 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Mariska Hargitay makes a cross-over appearance in this season 21 finale as Captain Olivia Benson, and I think in some ways it was to reassure long-time fans that Law and Order hasn't lost its touch.

Anyway, Black and Blue was directed by Eriq La Salle, who I first saw in St Elsewhere back in the 1980s, where he played a junior doctor. He's done very well since then as an acclaimed director.

Anyway, Black and Blue seemed to try to make the issue of police brutality complex by, believe it or not, including Mick Jagger's song Brown Sugar, and it just was very tacky with that, but at least policy brutality against minorities was addressed.

Why our legal system is failing
cockezville22 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The acting is always solid.but the outcome of this one just emphasizes what is totally deficit in our legal system. The woman was a cold stone mudererer and because Of Black Lives Matter victim mentality she essentially got only a 20 year sentence. Crime is rampant everywhere and cops have lost their power. It is a damn shame. This show showed that. I disagreed with the results but it did make its point well.

It also emphasized the need for strict gun laws so that folks can not in an emotion of stress just shoot.

Jeffrey Donovan, Anthony Anderson and Camryn Mannheim are excellent - Sam Waterson's character has become a curmudgeon.

Bad reviews of new season are valid
chunk197820 May 2022
I watch old episodes of Law & Order several times a week. I was really excited when I learned the show was coming back, but sadly the new season is no where near being the same. The topic of race wars in America is a horse well beaten to death, but more important, the writing is garbage, the acting is uninspiring, the film sets look cheap and poorly lit.and even the 90s CGI during the opening is cringy. I'm just going to pretend this season didn't happen.

This L&O can't make the case for quality entertainment.
byablue4 July 2022
I watched this season after binging early seasons of the series and was very disappointed. These episodes are like Cliff Notes versions compared with previous seasons and the forced political slant is annoying. The storylines of the earlier seasons are much richer, as are those of L&O: SVU. I'm not interested in any future seasons of this L&O. One star because 0 is not an option.

Devoid of logic or common sense
b_clerkin22 May 2022
I'm sorry, but if a cop sees someone with a gun and doesn't know the context of the situation why on earth would the cop chase the person who doesn't have the gun?

The Wolf cabal's slavish devotion to pandering to wokism has cost this franchise a lot of credibility with the viewers. It used to be that it followed the evidence and the law, and plots were logical and credible. Now it's just pandering to the agenda of the Twitterati, and while the plots are terrifyingly credible because this nonsense really happens these days, it is not logical nor does it actually serve Justice or the rule of law. Condoning the wholesale replacement of emotion over the rule of law will invariably lead to chaos as our civil society becomes less and less civil.

Moreover, it sends the message that certain groups must be treated differently as if they were not capable of understanding choices and consequences.

It is more evidence of the contempt in which the ruling class - politicians, media academia and corporations hold the rest of the populace.

We are devolving into a 21st century version on feudalism- only the aristocrats are not always hereditary. Yet, a small group increasingly controls a larger one by increasing its dependance on the largesse and "protection" of that larger group.

Rewrite Warning: Spoilers
This episode is a rewrite of the 2000 episode (Burn Baby Burn) with Clarence Williams III playing Latiff Miller. A police officer (Irish again) is to retrieve a witness, but goes to the wrong apartment. Latiff Miller answers the door and shoots/kills the officer.

Couldnt give a zero. Honestly not good.
wgmjrrk11 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
First of all, during the scene where the attorney and DA go into the judges chambers to discuss the racism accusation, why didnt it get brought up AT THAT EXACT MOMENT that the cops girlfriend is LITERALLY black, second, how did he get the video/s is never once discussed its just thrown in. I love how its not overly political but thats the only GOOD thing about this episode, the writing was clearly rushed the sets are trash and its just a terrible waste of time to watch. Ive been watching law and order since i was a kid (select episodes by my mom of course bc i started watching it with her) and this new season as well as this episode was in both her and my words, a complete catastrophe and we will not be continuing to watch the series. Theyve never even EXPLAINED the videos, and completely glazed over the captain of the homicide unit yelling at the female DA and the DAs clear aggravation over allowing the one man to get immunity for certain things. Over all 0/10.
