I want a Sequel with Stacy and Desmond!
lymullen28 April 2023
Stacy is a refreshing take on the classic love triangle, with a quadrangle thrown in for good measure. Seun Akindele plays Tade, a man trapped in a toxic relationship with his possessive girlfriend Stacy, played by Etinosa Idemudia, while he secretly pines for the sweet and unassuming Chichi, played by Tamara Eteimo. The twist in the plot is that Stacy is cheating on Tade with her best friend of 20 years, Desmond, played by Stan Nze.

Desmond and Tade are good friends, with Desmond always siding with Stacy and advocating for her in her relationship with Tade. That is because Desmond and Stacy are secretly sleeping together! Desmond and Stacy's chemistry is palpable, and their evil machinations are highly entertaining, I couldn't waif for them to get caught.

Tade eventually finds out that Desmond has been siding with Stacy all along, but he never fully realizes the extent of their betrayal. It's revealed that Desmond is willing to do anything for Stacy, including making her ex-boyfriend "disappear." The two make a perfect pair, and it's hard not to want them to give their twisted love a try.

The movie has several lovely scenes between Desmond and Stacy, such as when they go out for drinks and she asks him why he's staring at her. Desmond is surprised by her directness and suggests that they go out in public more often. It's obvious that he loves her deeply. While I would have loved to see Desmond and Stacy in a "bad boy/bad girl" romance, it was never explained why Desmond did not try to claim Stacy for himself.

Although I usually don't enjoy movies that involve love triangles, the twist to this movie made it a captivating watch. Etinosa Idemudia fully embodies the titular Stacy, and the chemistry between the characters is electric. Tamara Eteimo also shines as Chichi, the woman caught in the middle of this tumultuous love affair.
