Hero to Traitor

The foreshadowing is unmatched. This is one of my fav AOT ep ever. The final moment was painful to watch. Finally, the female Titan. Both of their transformation were epic. And the first transformed still shot was spectacular. The emotions, man!

Floch
aboalhyjaa13 March 2022
Lets talk a little about Floch, the most underrated hated character in season 4.

-The legion is against him -The Ackermans are against him -4 titans are against him -Marly troops are against him Yet, he's the only true one fighting for Eren, and doing Erwin's will when he said (Eren is the hope of humanity within the walls).

And with this episode, it's clear that the Marly titans still dont care about killing an Eldian, so why should they!

A Reversal of Roles
Qoenntrell13 March 2022
It's yet another Omine episode, you know what's up. We have some very clean ODM cuts with great directing, I don't know what else to say because my mind is still hung up on the last part of the episode. The scene where Armin and Connie faces their ex comrades Daz and Samuel once again brought back memories of S2E6 "Warrior" when an enraged Eren screamed at Reiner for being traitors. Oh, how the tables have turned. Both of them probably couldn't understand their feelings back then until Armin talked to Annie in the crystal after raiding the port, and for Connie this was his moment.

In essence, the world of AOT is too cruel for clean solutions to these problems. It's the key component of the port fight which illustrates the same dilemma. Armin and Connie didn't have time to explain why they were going against Eren, and why they were betraying them. It was at that moment when Connie had a flashback of Bertholdt, as he now understood why Bertholdt and Reiner did what they had to do, and at the same time, he understood Samuel's feelings of betrayal by people who he thought were on their side. The callback was exactly reminiscence of that (Get it? Cos the next episode is called reminiscence/retrospective). Think back to S3P2 in "Descent" when Bert remarks that no one is in the wrong, this world is just that cruel. It's difficult to paint people as outright villains or traitors because it's just not that black and white.

Isayama uses this to illustrate changing perspectives along with the idealism which enables the alliance to work against the island to save all of humanity, but at the same time it's also important to ask: what about their homeland? This is sure to spark some controversy but I like how Kiyomi puts it:

"All you're doing is making your world smaller. These killings will surely continue as they always have."

Now even Floch acknowledges this, as had many other characters on this show, and I'm sure we can do as good if not better than that.

"Violence is one thing you can't take from humanity. Right, captain?"

Of course, this resonates deeply with Levi, who was raised to believe in violence as a means to an end to "talk" to people by Kenny. What does it take to end this cycle of human conflict, and how far will the idealism of the survey corps carry the alliance forward? I just can't wait to find out.

Even better
abdiluqman-4759314 March 2022
This was an amazing episode, the emotion that runs through the characters as they face of their old friends is just heartbreaking. Great to see the female titan again after so long fighting alongside Armored.

My vote is 10 I have spoken.

Desperation
Adam-0926514 March 2022
It says it right in the title of the episode, 'Traitor' is full of emotion especially towards the end. It's having to put old allies down to help save the world. A really difficult wall to break through, i really felt sorry for Connie. This is the very thing he strictly tried to avoid.

War fights out with the Yeagerists and possibly puts Floch's ambition towards an end....but that could change. Annie and Riener team up with their titan abilities. Great action towards the end but at the same time depressing.

9.6/10.

Oh my god, the intensity!!!

Warning: Spoilers
The sheer extremity this episode had was spectacular. It gives me chills everytime when I read the manga, it's all coming together. The ones (scouts) who called the warriors traitors now follows their same path by stopping the Yeagerists. Just imagine that. What a development. Some of the unique story-telling I've ever witnessed. And stop with the toxic reviews, guys. Damn, it's giving me an itch. And I can see this review will get a lot of thumbs down.

Reading manga is a thing, but watching's another
wanisnazeh13 March 2022
The shout cut off at the end is merely endurable! This's definitely disturbing; watch at your own risk.

The rest of the episode's all about human decisions in the darkest times, reminds me of battle royal movies, and of course, the goosebumps.

Hectic, intense episode. After a couple of kinda slow episodes, this one was jam packed with chaos. I don't want this show to end!! Idk how many episodes are left but I feel like there's still a lot of story to unfold. Pumped for next Sunday :-)

This hell won't end until we turn away from all this senseless killing.
brasoto14 March 2022
Maybe Russian government, or Maybe all the governments in the world should see this entire anime, and think twice before think to start a war.

The end of the chapter is brutal and very sad, I'm not a anime watcher, but snk is one of the best series ever.

I almost cried at the end.

Deserves to be called "One of the best animes of all time".
alevi-4546215 March 2022
Amazing episode it reminded me why Attack on Titan is one of my favorites. The voice acting, the wonderful animation; I've got to say that Mappa really nailed it, the drama and everything else was perfect.

I don't think it could have been any better than it was. It deserves 10/10 rating.

Very good episode
JonyVeana17 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The port fight was intense and emotional and i liked a lot the CGI of the armored and female, the soundtrack when Connie shoot his two friends was amazing and Floch is becoming a very memorable and memeable villain, The little speech of Magath was very well acted and of course the scream of Connie or Zenitzu was very impactful, Yelena broken arm scene was funny i was always wondering about the broken arm in some panels i saw from the manga, two episodes more of this season that's sad and annoying because we need to wait more to see how the story is going to end.

The heroes/traitors of paradis
thefoochie15 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
My favorite attack on Titan fights are the ones where humans are fighting humans. We get to see the characters struggle to do the right thing and decide what is moral.

In this episode, we learn a brutal lesson: it's easier to solve problems through violence than peacefully. Although armin is one of my favorite aot characters, he's incredibly naive. He can't accept that sometimes, killing is the only choice you have. Him and the rebels desperately try to steal the boat from the jeagerists without hurting anyone, but it ultimately fails.

Of course, my favorite part of the episode was the heartbreaking scene between Connie, armin, and two young soldiers who see the two as heroes. In their minds, connie and armin are the heroes of paradis, fighting to save the world. Then, suddenly, they realize that their idols are actually traitors. That's what makes it so heartbreaking. Imagine looking up to someone, just to have them kill you for being on the wrong side.

These moral dilemmas in aot are always so tragic to watch. Because let's be honest: what was the right thing for Connie to do in that situation? If he didn't kill the two boys, they would have shot armin. On the other hand, killing the two kids would be immoral because he is their idol. To be honest, if I were Connie I would have just shot myself. I'm not mature enough to make that kind of decision lol. Another reason why it's so tragic is that if the two soldiers weren't brainwashed by Fl*ch's propaganda (yes I'm censoring that idiot's name), then they would be proudly fighting for the rebels. The problem is, connie had to make a split-second decision, he didn't have enough time to completely undo the brainwashing of the soldiers. In the end, I'm still not sure if Connie made the right decision by killing the two soldiers, but that's what makes aot so great. The protagonists aren't perfect people.

I only have a couple tiny problems with the episode. First of all, I feel like the marleyans are being too selfless. These guys have been brainwashed by marleyan propaganda for their whole lives, so it seems a bit unrealistic that they are suddenly so apologetic for their previous wrong-doings. Second, I feel like the scene with Connie and armin would have been more impactful if we were already attached to the two soldiers, but the scene was still impactful, so I guess it doesn't matter too much.

Anyways, amazing episode. I'll give it 10/10.

Pretty awesome until you think of it for more than a second.
EddyTheMartian00713 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
From memory this was one of the better parts of the last arc, but watching it animated, while it makes many moments better, it also highlights more of the issues with the story. Honestly for a lot of the episode I was enjoying it, but this is one of those episodes that are great in the moment but start to fall apart when you think of it. First of all Magath has a good moment admitting his hypocrisy, but this should've happened last episode. It's clear that if he's going along with all of this then he has seen his mistakes, it just didn't need to be said now after that was all resolved, and it just made the first half of the episode feel redundant. I mean don't get me wrong, there definitely should be more drama with these characters, but that was just pointless at this time. Then Armin's plan makes absolutely no sense. So they need to get on the boat with the plane with the Azumabito mechanics as well. How? Armin says the cart Titan escaped by the sea, firstly how? Okay let's say the Yeagerists didn't catch that, now why would they need to go after them? Where would they go? Marley which is about to be completely destroyed? What's the point of chasing them, and with Armin being rumored to betray them (as mentioned by the other Yeagerists) Floch and the rest have no reason to believe them. Why doesn't Floch send some of his more trusted people then? But ignoring that, let's say the Yeagerists let them, and the they illogically remove the bombs... They still need to sneak in all the alliance people, like Oyankapon and Jean, who he tells Floch were killed, let alone Reiner, Annie, Magath, Pieck, Gabi, Falco, etc. How are they all supposed to get to the docks undetected and be snuck in? This plan just makes 0 sense. At this point the Yeagerists would've logically blown up the planes. Hell, shoot a thunder spear at it or something. Then we get the dumb moment where the middle aged woman Kiyomi (off-screen of course because it would be impossible to show it believably) disarms and knocks down a trained soldier who had a gun on her. I'm confused, what was her plan after this, get shot? The other Yeagerists just stand there dumbfounded at the plot armor so that Mikasa can break in through the window, and they can drool like when AOT fans look at Mikasa, allowing her to knock them out instead of them just instantly shooting her. Again, cool moment until you think of it for more than a second. These Yeagerists are incompetent, they're prepared and can't shoot at them for some reason. They literally blow up the room but of course the plot important characters get away unscathed. At least Reiner and Annie coming in was cool, the animation was very well done. Them destroying the Yeagerists reminded me of the good old days, just really cool. The funniest part though was the alliance members who were waiting on Armin's plan are shocked it didn't work. Wow it's almost as if Armin's plan made 0 sense and relying on it was idiotic! Also Reminder Levi is useless now and just here for fan service. The episode ends pretty strongly with the moment where Connie shoots and kills Daz and Samuel, though it felt forced. It's the type of emotion I missed from this show. While it felt forced the way it played out (All they had to do was shoot or blow up the ship! No other Yeagerists came?) Connie having to kill them was pretty good drama, and the voice acting was great... but it felt kinda off to me. At first I thought Connie killed Samuel pointlessly as he was unarmed and it almost ruined Connie's character for me (well even more after he almost kills a child) but thankfully I rewatched the episode and noticed a single frame it shows he actually had a second gun. In the heat of the moment I get shooting Samuel, but I felt like it could've been better handled. You knok it's his literal childhood friend, and he shoots him multiple times in the head? Couldn't he try to disarm his other gun, or get Armin's help? It just feels off framing him as a hero who had to do a tough thing, and hypocritical when he will kill him, but let nah let Annie and the others slide... okay. Anyways, well acted, cool moment, though once again like everything else in this episode: forced. Is it a bad episode? Out of the post rumbling episodes it was one of the better ones, but I don't know with these episodes the more you think of it the dumber it gets. Armin's plan alone turns half the characters into moron's but whatever, it was the most enjoyable out of the last few episodes.

Back in action!!
and_mikkelsen13 March 2022
Damn this episode was good! Best since Eren activating The Rumbling! Magaths monologue was very good, along with the characters' response! We finally get to see a "certain" Titan back in action and it did not dissapoint! Smooth ODM gear animation and a perfect blend of 2D animation and cg! Also great colour palets! Mappa nailed it. This episode also had callbacks to season 1 and 2! The finale scene was brutal and sad!

The Cycle of Violence Continues
MamadNobari9714 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This is a very fast paced and tense episode which when it end you'd think it was only 10 minutes.

In this episode, centuries-old enemies become allies, and long-time friends become enemies and have to kill each other. We now root for a titan we hated in and wanted dead in season 2. It's kinda the theme of Attack on Titan now, characters we hated at first, are now decent characters, and some we loved and wanted to succeed are now villains.

Although I thought Magath's change of heart and world-view was kinda sudden and quick, but I guess they gotta go this point at some point, and I like that they're done with this group's being hostile to each other and fight over which one's ancestor was worse.

Some very surprising, wtf and iconic scenes happen in this episode, especially that particular scene with Armin.

And I really like all the scenes, especially the ending scenes with Connie and his friends Daz and Samuel.

All in all, it was a great fast-paced episode after two fairly slow-burning episodes and sets the new plot in motion. There are some great Mikasa and some titans actions which were unfortunately short, but still nice to watch.

bastian2115 March 2022
After some slow-paced episodes we are finally getting the "physical" action with some intense fighting and hard decisions that have to be made. I can see we are slowly approaching the end of AoT and I hope from this episode the ratings will get only higher!

Almost cried during this episode
amooorales16 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Wow the emotions and action were high during this episode. As the series comes to a close we see the final group of heroes go up against their own brothers in arms as they try to fight to steal a plane to stop eren across the sea. The parallels this episode has to when Reiner and Bertholdt were explained why they attacked paradis to everyone. It seems that their reasons were valid in their own right, Reiner and betholdt wanted to rid the world of paradis to save their families in Marley. History repeats itself.

A really good episode
fabiolafrastimarezetti15 March 2022
The parallelism between the characters from the Eldian and the Marley side become more and more clear. Everyone is pushed to make difficult choices and stain their hands with blood. The actual cast of heroes enters definitely in a gray area where good and evil are relative to the moment and the situation. The action scenes and the drama are really outstanding. The voice acting still confirmes as one of the strongest points of the entire series. The pacing of the episode is really good and finally pushes the story forward after many prosaic episodes.

This was painful. This hit me right in the feels. Seeing our most beloved characters have to resort to killing companions from their childhood in an effort to save the world. This episode reminds me of the old adage "In war, whichever side may call itself the victor, there are no winners, but all are losers.". 10/10.

Its going down hill
danialjoghtaye14 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Well if the rumbling has already reached the land and killed even one person if they stop it the island will be destroyed shortly after because they just proved Marly's point on them being a danger to humanity and left a ton of people to get revenge so there is literally no point on stopping him

Also why people like 'annie' so much all of a sudden don't you remember what she did? Y'all wana say she was brain washed and thought they were all demons but she lived among them for so long and they were her friends what else does she need to undo the brain wash

And 'magath' suddenly changed his mind over night? Hello... Character development doesn't work like that, i hope he did it because he was desperate not because he changed his mind

the animation was little off this episode but nothing too bad.

King Floch
kshitijbhaware5 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I started hating Mikasa after this episode and started supporting Floch. Mikasa doesn't have her own mind. She haven't killed marleyns like this but slayed her own comrades brutally 🤦🏻 7 stars for my king floch and animation. And 1 star for alliance only because atleast they hesitated but I won't be able to love them anymore. Atleast they should have not killed them brutally. Alliance had plot armor where they are not a getting single bullet on their body😂 wth 🤦🏻 Yeagerist are firing bullets continuously and alliance with bare ODM gears and swords. Don't tell me odm is faster than bullets🤣 This episode was whole of plot armor and less logical. Anyway this series is a masterpiece.
