Okayish!
gogoirahul-5335919 February 2022
I don't know why I am giving 6 star here. I mean I enjoyed watching the series because I watched it at one go. But in the mean time couldn't tolerate the pathetic acting of Shruti. Story was some extent to okay but for me it was way predictable. Ending seems like the longer version of Haseen Dillruba! Having Mixture feelings tbh.

Dark with no Suspense
sanjeevanwar19 February 2022
Anwar Says : Adaptation of Ravi Subramaniam 2015 novel, Bestseller, She wrote, is a dark suspense thriller and revolves around a cocky and egotist author and his entanglement with a small town fan. The book name adapted from Kabir's Doha Rand , Saandh , Seedhi , Sanyasi and the stolen story is from a family of imaginary town Rajisi and the revenge .

Mukul Abhyankar, the director gave Mithun Chakravorty his first break on OTT and he doesn't disappoint. Shruti Hassan got a lifetime role and played brilliantly the simpering woman's role. Arjan Bajwa fits in his role of author Tahir Wazir after two episodes only. The cutest is Gauhar Khan , an alpha woman with a poise .

The part I didn't like is the predictable suspense and the series carries only on the shoulders of the strong cast. Despite no dearth of angles of twists, the series lack of suspense and thrill makes it ordinary. Still watchable for its simmering effects. 5 out of 10 from me .

Well executed thriller drama web series!!
sanjubhat23 February 2022
Web Series review: Bestseller streaming on Prime Video #sanjuzzreviews #bestsellershewrote #bestsellerwebseriesprimevideo #bestsellerwebseries #ravisubramanian Based on Ravi Subramanian's novel "Bestseller She Wrote" this series tells the story of a cocky & egoistic writer Tahir Wazir (Arjan Bajwa) who is suffering from a writer's block and currently under pressure from his publishers for not having written anything since his last hit novel "Rand,Saand,Seedhi, Sanyasi" and is looking for ideas. And lo.. out of the blue, here appears an ardent, devoted, beautiful, yet mysterious fan Meetu( Shruti Hassan) !! Upon interacting with her, the writer feels that the lady can give him the story he needs to write a sequel to his earlier novel. Despite the growing awkwardness felt by his wife Mayanka( Gauhar Khan), he hires Meetu as his assistant. Things go well for a while as he apparently gets over his writers block and starts writing with renewed energy. But then, things take a turn for the worse.... Has it got something to do with Tahir's past? Why is someone out to get him with a vengeance? These are some of the questions which the series attempts to answer.

The narrative might seem a bit laid back and lethargic to start off with, but soon picks up pace and keeps the viewers engrossed. The big reveal unfortunately happens in the 5th episode, something which could've been delayed till the 7th, considering that this series falls in the thriller genre. Leaving this aside, the story moves back & forth in time and the flashbacks are well handled and compliment the narrative perfectly.

Casting is decent with Mithun da giving a stellar performance as the quirky CID officer and is ably assisted by Sonalee Kulkarni. Protagonists Arjan Bajwa & Shruti Hassan are not bad, but unfortunately, not great either. Gauhar Khan gives an earnest performance which is worth appreciating.

Ending has been very well executed with poetic justice served.

This 8 part series with each episode having a runtime of around 35 mins is a decent bingewatch option.

My rating 3/5 .... Adios 🙂

Decent but didn't reach the expectations of 2022 web series.
sunadkiran25 February 2022
Overall story is good. I'll say decent. Little weak in the past story could have done better. Characters were chosen well. Mithun da and Shruti Hassan have nailed it.

But the expectation for a web series will always be more, so need to bring out that content in the show. Just some good story and good execution will not be enough.

Predicable but Mithun makes it bearable
gunmasterg911 March 2022
Its an ok crime, thriller, drama but it lacked the thrill. It turns into a more of a cat and mouse chase once Mithun Chakraborthy makes his entry.

Its been a while since I have seen him in a strong main role.

You work out the mystery in the early episodes and then you just watch to see how they unravel it.

The end climax again too predictable.

If you are looking for a true thriller mystery look elsewhere, if you are Mithun Chakraborthy's fans then don't give this a miss you will not necessarily disappointed with his character.

predictable but good.
vinayningoo-0347821 February 2022
I love the way now a days with so much of choice available there is so much of talent to tap. BestSeller being just another OTT Release being one of them and offers an ensemble cast from great names like MIthun Chakraborty to Gauhar Khan, Arjan Bajwa , Shruti Hassan and Satyajeet Dubey.

The story began very well and eventually became predictable where the ending was concerned. But the twists , turns and performance by Shruti hassan, Mithun Chakraborty , Gauhar khan , Satyajeet Dubey and Arjan Bajwa were all good.

The best part is the no one actor was sidelined. Everyone had an equal opportunity to perform. The cinematography by Sameer Arya was good and so was the production value and the art direction.

Gauhar Khan Looked Gorgeous. Arjan Bajwa was natural as an irate man with Tantrums . Direction by Mukul Abhyankar is good. The hilly Locations have become common now just like ARANYAK, CANDY , UNDEKHI and now best seller in some portions.

A Good weekend watch.

Worst plot and acting
sandeeproywb18 February 2022
Everyone in this web-series were acting like they were not paid in full. Plus the story line is the worst. I was hoping it to be mysterious but everything was so clear from the beginning.

Complete time waste.

Enjoyed it
mousey-manisha20 February 2022
It's a good binge watch option. Probably a one time watch since we know who and why who did it, but the acting and the mini suspense make it fun.

The make up on Shruti Hassan is overdone though. That bruise looked like it walked off a modelling ramp.

Very entertaining, good acting by Shruti!
jkt20062 March 2022
I don't understand the negative reviews here. I mean it sounds more like they saw the first episode, left it there without giving it an opportunity and wrote the reviews here. I enjoyed the fast paced script which worked like a good mystery suspense script. Yes, the suspense is blown three episodes before the last one but it retains the thrill factor and the quotient. Totally deserves a watch!

Shruthi's Acting is the most Cringe in this Badly Written Series.
OnjiMooteDaMarle19 February 2022
I don't know why Shruthi is wearing contacts. There is no reason for her to do so. It's on the face and very noticeable at close ups. Her acting too is so bad. It's so evident of her innocent acting that isn't digestible. Even Satyajeet Dubey is very below average but as episodes go by, his acting feels OK as per his character. Everyone else are actually good in their acting especially Arjan Bajwa & Gauahar Khan. I am not a Gauahar fan but she has acted real good. I am a huge Mithun da fan but Mithun's character could have been played by anyone because it isn't anything special and is a dumb character because though the series tries to show that he is intelligent by doing something or understanding what others don't but that's not intelligence. That's bad writing of the character. Seriously Mithun da is wasted here.

The story is intriguing but when the reasons are revealed, the entire series falls flat. I understand who, why and what but the casting, the acting & the missing soul of the series made this a waste of my time.

Average thriller with predictive end
kunalsarkar-3540119 February 2022
Best Seller is an Average thriller where you can easily guess the end within fifty percent of its run time. Story is simple. An ambitious but less talented author used a true Story of a family in his books and which easily becomes a best seller. But the impact is such which almost ruins that family. Now the brother and sister duo of that family make a plan to get revenge against that author. Too much unfolding of suspence too early make the best seller highly predictive from the first episode itself. But still you can watch it upto last episode due to sound performance of all the casts. Perfomence of Arjan Bajwa as ambitious author Tahir Wajir is good. Gauahar Khan as Tahir's wife is fantastic. Bother Sister duo Satyajeet Dubey and Shruti Hassan as Parha Acharya and Meetu Mathur fulfill the needs of the script. But as a central character Shruti Hassan should be better because she got the ample scope with different shades in the Webseries. But ultimately Mithun Chakraborty as ACP Lokesh Pramanik steals the show. His style of acting , comic timing, emotions grip the Webseries particularly in the latter half. Though there is a reflection of Anil Kapoor and Samira Reddy's role of race in Mithun and Sonali Kulkarni's role in this web series. Slow starter Best Seller gets the momentum when Mithun enters the series in the third episode. But still it is strictly average with predictive end. The series highly justified one of the dialogue of that series which indicates end is fixed before the starting of a book.

Complete garbage
bluebloodripper22 February 2022
If you sit through the first episode you are brave, if you watch the full series then you should be included into the avengers. Pathetic opening episode which totally puts you off and you are feeling grateful it's on an OTT platform so you can shift to another show.

The direction and casting is terrible and the screenplay writer should be banned from writing for the next 50yrs.

First and foremost - the incredible Gauahar Khan!!!
MovieMob9 March 2022
While the series is good, I am also a bit surprised with Shruti Haasan's acting and she has come a long way - with improvements that is. After all she's the reason that drawn me into the show since I am a huge fan of her. Acting aside, the film has a rather good story and plot to it. Some say predictable, yes and no, and your prediction is most likely wrong until the end. You can't ignore this work with a cast like the legendary Mithun Chakraborty, and of course the INCREDIBLE Gauahar Khan. Yes, she was the star of the show! While I'm all rooting for Shruti but Gauahar caught my utmost attention with her incredible performance. She confidently captures every mood with her command and screen presence. Such raw natural talent that I have not seen in a long time, especially from Indian cinema. The woman is mesmerizing and she deserves an award, and then some.

Bakwas, lame scenes Shruti hassan's acting is third class, I'd suggest her to just do eye candy scenes as that's what she's probably good at.

Dialogs are lame, using unnecessary swearing just to sound cool.

So many things doesn't make sense in the series.

I sometimes wonder if the people who made it, released it without watching or do they think the audience is ch*utiya.

Arjan & gauhar and the villain guy are almost on puke level too.

One star just for mithun chakraborty, who did a pretty good job for this bakwas tv series.

Don't waste your time watching this crap. For real.

The Thriller is Intelligent and Keeps the Audiences Intrigued !!!
cs_rahul_prasad3 September 2022
Mukul Abhyankar's 8-part psychological thriller series regales nonetheless, balancing the dark side of smalltown society with the deceptive dazzle of big bad Mumbai. Based on Ravi Subramanian's book Bestseller She Wrote, the writing is credited to Anvita Dutt and Althea Kaushal. The writer duo primarily uses the age-old device of vengeance to push the plot and its suspense drama across eight episodes, throwing in subtext commentary on society and sundry ills. The didactic strain, though never too forced, would seem familiar in tone.

This is the story of Meetu Mathur (Shruti Haasan), a smalltown girl in Mumbai with dreams of making it big as a writer of bestsellers. Struggling to hold on to jobs in a city that clearly seems too smart for her, Meetu meets her idol one day almost by chance - bestseller writer Tahir Wazir (Arjan Bajwa) whose only successful novel came out a decade ago. Meetu however believes the novel, titled Raand Saand Seerhi Sanyasi, is the greatest piece of fiction literature to come out in Hindi in recent times and is not surprisingly excited beyond words on meeting her hero.

When Meetu tells Tahir she has a manuscript she hopes to publish, he seems willing to help. Tahir has ulterior motive, of course. He sees a perfect sequel idea to his hit novel in Meetu's manuscript. Also, he notices three slash marks on her wrist, which pique his curiosity. The writer in him senses there could be a story in there. Tahir's plush home scene is defined by his gorgeous wife Mayanka Kapoor (Gauahar Khan), a successful ad-filmmaker who is gearing up for a top award as the show opens. Twist in her life will come with an office rookie named Parth Acharya (Satyajeet Dubey).

The showrunners have judiciously restricted each episode to a runtime of around 30-35 minutes, which keeps the narrative taut. The action starts early on and plot progression is fairly even-paced as the episodes roll, though the story really starts coming alive around the halfway mark of the season as certain protagonists turn out to be far from what they initially seemed. This gives director Abhyankar the scope to work with characters that travel a sufficient arch.

The writer duo of Dutt and Kaushal have created effective characters, which benefits the cast. For Shruti Haasan, Meetu Mathur is her strongest role yet in the realm of Hindi fiction entertainment, far more solid than anything Bollywood films ever let her do. She shows restraint in the early parts where she has to essay Meetu as a tongue-tied smalltowner bogged down by her inner demons. Gauahar Khan's Mayanka Kapoor starts off as an alpha woman defined by poise, but the actress tends to go over the top in later episodes once her character is thrown into chaos. Arjan Bajwa is convincing while portraying the shades of ego-centric and self-seeking Tahir.

Bestseller marks the web series debut of Mithun Chakraborty, in a role that could seem like a toned-down version of the irreverent, street-smart image that buoyed the veteran actor's superstardom in Bollywood of the eighties. He doesn't exactly put on his disco boots here, although for a party sequence director Abhyankar can't resist creating an excuse to put Mithun in beach shirt and summer hat. Mithun manages to elbow in the odd light moment in a role that doesn't otherwise waver much from the classic filmi cop template. His fans would be happy as the show ends - season two promises to draw from Lokesh Pramanik's back story. Sonalee Kulkarni as Pramanik's assistant Urmila suitably underplays the drama about her character.

Technically sound and overall enjoyable as mainstream content, Bestseller mixes moderately dark drama with poetic vibes of the heartland, never missing a beat on the suspense factor. Recommended if you love your thrills served with simmering angst.

Seriously very old and repeated story.... Big faces with boring story. No new concept. Family revenge as a very common storyline. Sheuti Haasan didn't need to have done this.

Good Watch
bkvora1 March 2022
This one is a good short Web Series with each episode around 30 mins. A new Story & fairly good acting by all. I just felt that they could have covered more on the actual incidents that had happened in the past that led to writing the Story "Rand Sand Sedh Sanyasi". It was covered in small glimpses which I felt required more coverage.

Disappointing first half - better after the secrets are revealed
MindblowingMahiya8 April 2022
I was disappointed in the first half. By the fifth episode the "whodonit" is all revealed.

Characters get a chance to come to life only after the big reveal in Neermana. Actors get to pack the punch after that.

Last four episodes are truly engrossing - even though by then there is no suspense.

Best moment - and many may have missed - is when Mithun starts rattling off the menu-monologue (while in a restaurant) from "Ludo" that Rajkumar Rao did in Mithun's style - then stops - other characters are puzzled but it is an inside joke between Mithun and and his audience. That was truly a brilliant moment. Reminded me of another Mithun tribute from "What's your Rashee" when the Priyanka with the "Mithun" sun-sign says "Koi Shaq?"

What a joke
tulsi-das-khan18 February 2022
Bestseller is one of the worst series made this season. The plot was already weak and Arjan made sure to ruin the remaining good bits with his awful acting skills. Mithun Da and Shruti are are good actors but they didn't have a solid foundation of their characters. This was just lousy writing and no character development. This was destined to be a train wreck because of the backend crew. It is written by Anvita Dutt who is infamous for flops like Phillauri and Baar Baar Dekho. Director Mukul Abhayankar doesn't know how to make a thriller as he gives away the majority of the suspense in the opening few episodes making the rest of the episodes predictable.

Decent Attempt
vinay_raja17 March 2022
Season 1 is watchable. Continue to have patience and the story picks up in following episodes. Decent drama. Good acting by all cast members. Room to improve story script writing for following seasons.

I hope in the next season they pay more attention to the following

1. Crime drama should try to pay attention to basic details such as - character not leaving any traces of fingerprints, leaving evidence at crime scene. Etc.

2. Stop using F*** for no reason. Not sure why Indian OTT content writers think it is cool thing to swear all the time.

3. If this is a Hindi language series, don't mix too many English sentences.
