Alright for kids, okay for me too.
EECritic14 January 2016
It's not too bad. I have seen the original one (from the 2000) and this really depends on your tastes. I think people only hate this because the premise is kinda silly (albeit still entertaining sometimes) or because they have watched the old series (and are therefore blinded with nostalgia). The characters are.. okay although most of them are cliché stereotypes. The story for the first one (Fusion) is silly but eh..., the second one (Masters) is written a lot better and the third one (Fury) is fine too.

No I'm not expecting it to be realistic (because it would be stupid and boring) so I can't hold a grudge on this show for having super natural powers.

Honestly, I don't think watching only two episodes does not give away a lot of the premise so yeah...

Overall a decent anime with some decent animation and action that tells a few decent messages although suffers from cliché characters. The dub is certainly better than the original series as it's more accurate and hey, it's still better than most other kids anime.

A stylish, epic reboot to the franchise.
BoydudeReviews28 April 2018
Ok. I have to adit, but this is the Beyblade I grew up with. Yea yea, I was 13 when it came out, but I am 20 now, so that was a lomg time ago. I remeber being absoulutly obsessed with this show. I mean I had a CRAZY obession with it. I can talk on and on about how much I loved it but it will go on for too long. Anyway, this show consits of 3 season, 1 movie and 1 spin offf season that was cancelled.

The three season were Metal Fusion, Meatal Masters and Metal Fury. The movie was called Sol Blaze and spin off was shogun steel.

Season 1 was called Beyblade Metal Fusion and stared a teenage called Gingka Hagane as he traved the country to become the strongest blader. On his way, he meets freinds, forms rivials enimes and has to save the world and all. I must say, at the time, this was pretty much the first anime show I ever watched, (well second, as I watched Sonic X) and was truly inpressed with the visuals, soundtrack and story. They were much better than the tyson sereis which played the same 8 songs every episode for 3 seasons. This sow had an actaul soundtrack with a orchestra and all. I love the characters and beys and story. The show does pstart up ok, then get a bit slow in the middle, but towards the end of the season, it gets really epic, heck even violent. This is when the first national tornament will declare the worlds strongest blader. There are lots of laughs, crys, unexpected twists and just a great show over all. My only issue with season 1 was that it does go on for a bit too long. i mean 51 episode for a season is pretty long, but thats ok. It's all for character development. yea, 6/10.

Season 2 was called Beyblade Metal Masters and is a much better season, in my opinian. It is set a few months after the first and Gingka and the gang prepare for the WORLD Champianship were the the world isn't happy that the national tornament in Japan declared the worlds strongest blader instead of holding a worldchampians ship. So they hold a world champianship and ever blader around the world team up in groups to represent their country. This season was very similar to season 1 and 3 of the orignial Beyblade were they travel the world, but Metal Masters is a much better one. I really enjoyed this season, as the characters face new obstcles outside and within their team. The last 8 episodes, do get very interwsting, however, but it felt like season three, beyblade g revolotuion of the original series, where they have a champianship, it's over and for the last 8 or so episodes do something else. Only this time, the something else in Metal Masters is much bigger and badder than the gang has faced before. The ending of this season was in my opinian, the weakest of the show. They didn't really explain too much about the thign they were dealling with and a WHOLE BUCH of plot holes. but it's interesting. Season 2 deserves a 7/10.

Season 3 was called Beyblade Meal Fury and is the third and final season of the Metal series and is in my opinian the DARKEST of the lot. The first two season did feel similar to the original series in some way, but this season is totally original and out there. I mean, it's all about anceint beyblades, gods of destrucution and all that jazz. It sound a bit surreal when on paper, but exucutted really well. Season 1 and 2 were quite fun seasons. Season 2 was very enjoyable, but this season is very serious at times and very unexpected. Certain character get complete developments in this season and there is so much drama. I will admit that ths season felt a little bit like season 1 and a bit like season 2, where it started of slow, like season 1. But Gingk and the gang are travelling the world again, like in season 2, only this time, there are looking for the 9 legendary bladers who have beein chosen from destiny to defeat the ultamate evil Nemisis. Now, as much as I love this season, it has WAY TOO MANY PLOT HOLES inti that I like to think about. I mean, this new evil seems to have come from know where, but it is revealed why we haven't noticed throught the previous seasons. I did love how certain events of the past all tied up for this one season. and the second half of this season is the BEST throought the whole show. I mean, I was loving it so much. And the battles are show much better, coller and violent than the prevoious seasons and has a MCUH better ending that the original beyblades. This seaaon felt much similar to season1 were certaincharacters return from that season and the battle fight are simialr in parts. Is it the best season in the show. Yes and now. Yea, it's a great season, but there are WAYYY TO many plot holes for me to like. So, on that note, I willgive it a 7.5/10.

Overall, the Beyblade Metal Saga is a decet anime and pretty cool. :)

I keep coming back... But why?
beymaster25 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I have no particular nostalgia for the original series. I remember watching it from time to time but I don't actually remember the story. However I was pretty pumped about this series when the trailers played on Cartoon Network.

There are 3 seasons. Metal Fusion, Metal Masters and Metal Fury.

The main character is Gingka who, surprise! He wants to be the best blader in the world because he wants revenge for his fathers death. The first 10 episodes are your typical "get to know the main characters" episodes and have minor conflicts (most of which are orchestrated by Doji, who is one of the two main villians of the first season) Then the main plot kicks in. Gingka and friends have to stop Ryuga and Doji from using the Forbidden Beyblade: Lightning L'drago. It's a pretty straight forward premise but in my opinion it's the character conflicts (yes there are these kinda stuff here) battles and ACTUAL motivational themes that kept me going. The battles are fun, exciting and for the MOST part creative. My main problem tho is how they can get predictable, a character usually loses at first, then picks himself /herself up and has a rematch (and Wins) My favorite episodes tend to be the ones where Gingka loses, and in one case he has to start all over due to a loss and it was actually pretty powerful. The plot goes along like you'd excpect with a slight twist in the end.

Now the second season is a whoooole lot better in my opinion. More simple and straight forward- a world tournament. But this time there is ONE goal, not much filler. Just our team of Ginkga, three familiar characters and a new one from America, Who are trying to win the Beyblade world cup for Japan. There isnt really a main villian until pretty late but it doesn't feel forced because it still has to do with the tournament. The battles are SO MUCH MORE FUN, the new characters are much more interesting, The writing is better, the ending feels more epic and satisfying and I have never been so happy to see a certain bratty, spoiled kid get defeated in my life. 9/10 for this season

Metal Fury, the last season picks up RIGHT after Metal Masters and features ancient history, lights in the sky, a god... Wait what? Yes you heard me, a God in the form of a Beyblade, which is really dumb but it actually kinda works if you don't think to much about it. And a doomsday clock. Similar to the first season our Gang of bladers must stop the God Of Destruction: Nemesis (which isn't really accurate to greek or roman mythology), and to do this they need to track down 9 legendary bladers around the world. Ginkga and Kyoya are of course two of them. But hey I haven't mentioned Kyoya or Ryuga that much have I... Kyoya is Gingkas main rival, they're sort of friends but still not really, Gingka actually only beats him twice throughout the whole series and it's pretty established that they are VERY equal (which means they are both the SECOND strongest) speaking of rival... AND strongest... Ryuga... Damn what a character, you can say whatever you want about the writing for this show, yes it is sloppy but Ryuga is an EXCELLENT character. He is of course the main villian of the first season (kinda, you have to watch to understand) then he is an anti hero. He helps when he feels like it. Then in the last season he goes back to more of a villian role as he himself is trying to obtain the power of the legendary bladers, so you hate him, but respect him to loving his badassery. Also a very annoying character from the first two seasons really steps up in this one to become a strong blader of his own, never giving up (which pays off in the end)

All and all this season is a bit weird, it's shorter, but instead of just having fewer episodes they began airing shorter episodes after a certain point in the season, it does feel pretty rushed but I don't know what they could have done. It is tho, pretty fun to see the season start off pretty innocent and getting pretty dark and depressing towards the end.

This series has a special place in my heart, I keep going back (all of the episodes are on Youtube) I know it's pretty corny, stupid and weird but somehow I don't care. It makes me laugh, it manages to make me cry (for real, I'm not even kidding, I'm almost 20 and it has a few really sad moments) and it makes me excited, what more can I ask for? I'm not expecting anyone to watch it, it has just stuck with me for 10 years now and I can't get over it.

That's my really long, sentimental review of this really insignificant show, complete with spelling errors, sloppy writing and over simplifications.

Do not attempt to watch season 4(Shogun Steel)
WertPanda18 June 2021
If you're one of the old beyblade lovers as a child it's best to stop watching the series after the Metal Fury season. Following this masterpieces, Metal Fusion/Masters/Fury, they ruined the row with a completely different story and characters.

Warning: Spoilers
Wow, what an amazing animated series, at first I was a little worried but this show really surprised me with its amazing story and characters and it's overall awesomeness. These are the reasons why you should watch this show:

1. This show is really easy to relate to and you can really feel for Gingka and his struggle with his friends.

2. The animation is really top notch, and it is overall a great looking show for 2007 standards.

3. This show actually makes sense, what I mean by that is that the decisions these characters make, make sense and fit their character.

4. Finally, the characters (other than the villains) aren't cruel. This show can still appeal to a young demographic without dramatizing them.

Average reboot with hints of greatness
smetin27 May 2017
I used to love watching the original Beyblade as a kid, but never got round to watching the metal series. I had heard bad things about it...it's non-canon, has annoying characters, silly stories etc. It didn't make me want to actively watch it when it was on TV so I never did. However, I am going through a few cartoon series as a university student (mainly to wind down after a long day of revision) and thought it would be a good idea to include this.

This review encapsulates all 3 metal seasons (fusion, masters, fury). As soon as I started watching this, I quickly learned that this series is indeed non-canon. There is no reference to the original show and it seemed to want to completely reinvent the concept of Beyblade. This annoyed me from the start because it would have been quite simple to make this series be set in the future and make occasional nods to the original Bladebreakers. However, despite being a 'reinvention' the main characters of the series echo each of the main characters of the original show. Gingka reminded me of Tyson, Kyoya was like Kai etc.

Aside from Gingka's extremely annoyingly high-pitched voice, I liked the new characters. They each brought their unique personalities and back-stories to the table. However, I found Benkei incredibly annoying because of his idolisation of Kyoya. As controversial as it might sound, I also found Kenta somewhat grating because of his persistent clinginess. The final character worth mentioning for its ability to anger me was the crab-king himself (if you get round to watching this, you will know who I am referring to). All I can say is that the word "crabby" will make you angry for the rest of your life.

The story for the first 2 series were quite similar and plausible in the world of Beyblade. The revolved around various championship battles and someone trying to take over the world. They reminded me of the original series, with the addition of Ryuga, who is a enemy turned frenemy and I thought he was great. The latter series was a bit 'out there'. I find it odd when they refer to the ancient origins of Beyblades. Bladers trying to stop other Bladers from taking over the world with their bitbeasts. It just seems so odd, as if Beyblades are the most powerful weapon in the world. I mean, even the security guards have Beyblades for weapons! It was certainly the weakest of the 3 series but it was still enjoyable to watch (maybe because it was also shorter).

The final thing I want to touch on is the Beyblades themselves. They are completely different from the originals, with new parts, looks and even bitbeasts. I do like them but for very different reasons from the old ones. The original Beyblades were cool because of how varied they could look and how fierce they could be. These new ones looked quite sleek and modern. What I didn't like was they tried to make the bitbeasts look cooler by giving them an almost graffiti-like artwork. I also thought most of the Beyblades looked the same and there was little in the way of variety.

All in all, this series is OK. If you have seen the original series and want something else to watch this is something you could turn to. I think the creators missed on a few tricks that could have made this series better, but they tried to hard to be cool. It was still enjoyable to watch as an adult, just not as fun.

Unbelievable Warning: Spoilers
I just can't believe this.

Another Beyblade series? Wasn't the first one bad enough? I have to admit that, at first, I decided to give this series the benefit of the doubt. After all, there was a very little possibility that this new anime could have improved all the many flaws that the original "Beyblade" had, but after seeing a couple of episodes, I guess that this isn't going to happen.

In fact, this new anime was pretty much worse than the previous series, and it was worse than many other cartoons with a similar premise (And that's saying something) being incredibly dumb, clichéd, unoriginal, boring and tedious.

It had bad animation, an even worse plot, and even more shallow characters.

"Beyblade Metal Fusion" is unbelievably bad.

TERRIBLE SHOW NOT WORTH THE TIME.
eternalsage-4332025 February 2022
I used to watch this show as a kid but after looking back at it, I realize how dull and lifeless the show is. Gingka had zero character development in the show and didnt improve as a character. Masamune didn't have a personality other than the #1 blader. The show had pretty decent effects but the characters were poorly written. 4/10 on the storyline. It was so boring. Beyblade Burst - Turbo was easily better but the seasons after that was just a mess. Were the creators even trying? Or are they trying to mess up my childhood with rubbish they call an anime? Metal series is carried by nostalgia the show ain't even that good. The fandom is equally as bad as the show. "gingka solos burst"

Underrated

Warning: Spoilers
This show is much better than you think!

Basically, Gingka is a blader who must defeat the forbidden bey L-Drago, as his dad told him to. Along his adventure, he meets friends like: Kenta, Kyoya and Madoka. He then increases his strength with his friends and trys to defeat Ryuga, who has L-Drago.

The acting is also pretty decent, some voices might be annoying to some, however, I personally didn't mind them at all. And when the actors need the act happy, sad or mad. Its sounds very believeable, so overall, the acting is very well done!

The script is also very good. With lines being very creative and diverse!

Overall, this show is Amazing, and you should try to watch it, you may be surprised!

Great in every department but voice acting
dracophileupdate10 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
A reboot of the original Beyblade series, this show brings a contentedly new cast of characters and plots. The battles are between spinning tops with powers such as controlling fire, controlling wind, and crating pocket dimensions.

Characters: Ginka is our main protagonist. He is by far the least interesting part of this show. And his voice becomes more grating as time goes on (it was alright in the first episode) Most of the likable characters are on the side. Ryuga goes from villain to antihero to hero. Masamune starts off as annoying and cocky but later we learn his true motivations for becoming the strongest. And of course Blader DJ, who announces battles and occasionally becomes slightly meta (after not being present for some time in season 3 "I haven't done this in a while. Could you guys let me commenate?" and the Furious DJ Battle which is the show self-parodying) Minor characters like Tetsuya, Ryutaro, Tobio, Jack, and Nile all add a lot to the show. Both with their personalities and fighting styles (illusion that simulates a pocket dimension while the air currents pick you up and launch you out of the stadium. Or ricocheting around the stadium with a calculated launch. Or, you get the idea)

Plot: Season 1 is about stopping Lightning L-Drago, a bey that can steal the souls of its enemies. After the villains at the Dark Nebula organize a tournament to "feed" L-Drago with strong opponents, our heroes enter in an attempt to stop them. Several stolen souls (11 on screen. 1 off screen) later L-Drago is defeated and its balder, Ryuga, is greed from its control. In season 2 a world championship is organized. While the plot of a world championship is pretty simple, things like Kyoya leaving Japan to lead his own team and Zeo joining Starbreaker to provide his terminally ill friend better treatment keep it interesting. Tsubasa and Hukaru have both been traumatized from their battles with L-Drago in season 1, Hikaru developing PTSD and Tsubasa becoming possessed by the same power that lied in L-Drago. Season 3 is about finding and recruiting the 9 legendary bladers to prevent the revival of Nemesis by a cult. It has as many different locations as season 2 and with many new characters. However, introducing so many new characters meant that established ones like Yu and Tsubasa got less screen time.

Action: main strength of every Beyblade season. The styles of each blader are unique as well as their beys. Minor characters like the twins in season 1 still have a unique style to their fighting. For example, the twins used Gemios, and battles by wearing their opponent down as they defend with Blaze Wall and counter attack with Icicle Edge. Or Klaus, who relies on raw force. Or Jigsaw's invisibilty.

Overall: if you ignore the voice acting, it's a pretty good series. It can get a little over the top (Moses split the Red Sea with a bey. And pun intended) but depending on the viewer it can add to the fun.

Great story and inspirational character RAYUGA.

I think L-drago has to be more powerful after first season. He looks more powerful in first season than others but still rayuga is motivational character because of his hardwork and practice shown in last season.
