Gravedigger is the worst
angiemae-7413 March 2023
Hey Bones Booth!

I think the writers did a pretty good job with the opening nightmare that Bones is experiencing. Poor Bones, so scary for her What a way to open this intense episode!

Heather Taffet is pure evil. I hate that the judge agrees to throw out a large amount of evidence which leads to Taffet taunting Bones in court about a mysterious number.

Eventually the Jeffersonian team and Booth figure out what the number is and I'm a bit confused how they came to that conclusion but we all know Angela is magical.

I agree with the difficult decision Bones, Hodgins and Booth made in regards to the charges. They did what they had to do for justice.

Best part is the bed bug evidence.

Worst part is when Taffet had evidence manipulated to implicate Angela. Again gravedigger aka Taffet is the worst. How dare she!

Very pleased with the ending although it is a bit sinister how Taffet says this isn't over to Bones in court.

Overall a great episode and I never skip this on a rewatch.

Woah.

Warning: Spoilers
This was a deeply emotionally episode as the Jeffersonian team tried vigorously to convict the Gravedigger. It is very frustrating as the gravedigger is very smart and each time the team finds something she slams it down before the jury. The episode really shows how corrupted our legal system is. The team and viewers know about the terrible things the gravedigger did to Brennan, Hodgins, and Booth as well as to other children and yet she comes so close to walking. Brennan and Hodgins are forced to deal with some difficult emotions and Hodgins has a brilliantly acted scene where he is unwilling to lift his case charges for the good of the case because he cannot forget what happened to him. At the end of the episode, Brennan is unsure that she even can continue working on murders because it is so hard deal with all of the sadness. She even says that she has a strong sense that everything is changing. This must be foreshadowing something big that is about to happen. Normally I would just pass this off as a 2 episode subplot that will be quickly dismissed but here, I don't think so. I am anxious to see how this is going to play out in the season finale. Hopefully nothing too drastic will happen, but Brennan is right. Something is about to happen which will change the Jeffersonian team for better or for worse.

One of the Top re watch episodes!
krahnnikki3 November 2022
Hi bones booth!

This episode is one of my fav. Re watches - somehow I feel the suspense every time. I think they do a great job of making you hate tafit. Love the whole team pulling together. Love the emotions. Of course we have to ignore that some of this all happens faster than real life - and that even after finding the boy they can just drop their case & work on it. Tony bit of magical evidence / fish moment to booth with the #. Overall great episode but pulls at the heart strings worrying what's going to come of b & b!!! Also love the throwback to her driving away in taxi like 1st case!!

Rife with Suspense
Hitchcoc9 February 2023
This is the trial of the Gravedigger. We know from the start that she is guilty. A very realistic court case is presented to us, but the verdict depends on the death of a little boy whose body has never been found. The Gravedigger always used vocal threats and these were recorded. Things hand tenuously in the balance until these voice recordings come into play. The acting is excellent when we consider the people at the Jeffersonian, Booth, Brennan, and Hodgins, come into play. It's really well done because the woman is a master at verbal manipulation, which is what she used to set up those that are vctimized.

A continuation of the worst storyline in an otherwise solid show.
williamkwood-9544429 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I would have to transcribe the entire episode to point out the flaws. One off the top of my head is that the defendant attacks the expert witnesses on the basis of their qualifications, or mental health. She could have pointed out that two of them had active warrants recently but instead went with something that could have been easily reaponded to. Speaking of things that could be responded to, the prosecution decided not to respond to many of these things despite redirect examination being a regular aspect of court proceedings.

The evidence being thrown out was contrived. Evidence collected with a bad warrant acted upon in good faith, i.e. Assuming the warrant is legtimate, is still considered valid evidence. Thus the entire call to action for the episode is deeply flawed.

Not a bad episode per se
ana-6114416 March 2024
It's really not a half bad episode but I skip basically every time I rewatch because I cannot stand Heather Taffet. I'm sure the actress is a lovely person but clearly she's too good at her job because I despise her character in this and cannot make myself watch the gravedigger eps with her in them.

To be fair I'm also not a fan of the court room eps in general because the tend to be the worst in terms of Bones's lack social skills and I feel like they always take them too far and I also just find them boring. I'm here for the case and I wanna watch them find clues and track down bad guys. Not sit in court and explain it all after the fact. That's mostly a me thing though and not anything to do with the show really.
