Downhill
Enricohendrix7 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
After a brilliant episode one this season has gone gradually downhill. Getting weaker with each episode. Sad. Was such a great show. Kevin Costner character sleeping with a vegan woman the same age as his daughter feels out of character. He helps a calf back over a fence and wins her respect. Um, ok. The WWE fight between and injured man and an old cowboy. Way over the top. Senseless. Rip losing both the respect of his team and the audience with his lack of common sense. Casey's wife so jealous of a random character she can't sleep. Pointless scene. The Father that organised assassins convinces his angry do gooder son in a two minute scene to forgive him and hug him. Yeah, ok. What happened?

Why are they trashing Rip
james-n-chandler7 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Season has been a bit slow. Had high hopes when Dutton Ranch goes all-in for real horse competitions, as that foretold a longevity for the series that was bigger than the land battles and domestic drama that's been a mixed bag thus far. The only thing saving this episode (especially after Wes Bentley "predictably" failed to find the courage needed to off his convict old man) was letting Rip show a bit of regret for how badly he's betrayed Lloyd at the end of the episode. Taylor's writing was masterful for three seasons, so I hope he gets the show back on the higher energy this season started with.

Nice white house and comes with the dog as well .

Warning: Spoilers
I want to be him , first grow up kid , respect your elders , especially Beth .

When you see the previous episode at the end , it seemed that Floyd may have done Walker in for tonight's episode , but instead it ended up as a UFC match , Walker enticed the old buzzard one too many times , that was round one the knife stuck in the shoulder , omg there was a second round and clearly no way in hell Walker could have beaten Floyd , he put up a great fight , but Floyd wore him down just before the final round where Rip had to beat Floyd up and bust his hand .

Jamie confronts his dad about the attack of the Dutton's was a father to son chat , with an emotional cry from Jamie , personally Jamie still is growing some , should have shot dear old pops.

Beth should have gotten the dirty mouthed award *** wow we the breakfast scene , that even shocked Kevin Costner and the cook.

The most puzzling part has to be removing Teeter , she can't leave she was branded , so paying her off was an insult , so John put her into a female bunkhouse or build one .

Monica and Kayce they get their dream house comes with a dog , I likes that , oh look mom a dog , why yes he comes with the house.

Jimmy could have a spin off show , I really dug the idea he wants to learn roping and become a real cowboy , 6 months on the set I bet he learned a whole bunch.

The commercial this week was non other Taylor Sheridan the brains behind the show , talking about the real like on the range and how he writes his episodes , the man is amazing , he is the real deal.

Give Beth A Standing Ovation
loolooland-812366 December 2021
Beth is the best written character on TV today. Her character arc is a beautiful thing to watch. Love her or hate her, she makes you FEEL SOMETHING. Personally, I'm sick to death of reboots of series and/or ideas I already explored in my childhood. If Beth, or the characterization of such, is too much for you, watch another show. Is she over the top? Yes. Is she in your face and makes you feel mildly uncomfortable for watching or does your UNIVERSE make you feel slightly guilty for watching and enjoying her? Good- consider your boundaries challenged, and give Kelly Reiley credit for creating an incredibly interesting and thought provoking character. Beth Dutton is hands down the most interesting character on tv today... if she's not your cup of tea, change the channel . Elsewise, take a shot, sit back, and ENJOY THE SHOW.

Storytelling
jessicabutcher-599344 April 2022
There's a lot of comments about peoples' boredom this season but I see a beautiful story arch from season 1 to 4. The drama was mounting to such a chaotic level, c'mon episode 1, that it is nice to see this season focus on the cowboy stories that make Yellowstone and Westerns so captivating.

My favorite episode this season
JonyVeana22 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This episode it's very good, finally we end with the Lloyd and Walker dilemma, and Jaime confront his father for the attempt of killing his family, Will Patton is very underrated in the show, Beth being beth and The joke about kayce and "its not my type" was very dumb, because her wife is literally the exact copy of that woman, the scene at the end with the kid "I want to be him" (there you have the title for the episode), was a memorable moment in Yellowstone run.

Good episode
85122219 June 2022
Greetings from Lithuania.

6th episode of season 4 called "I Want to Be Him" was a solid one. It did moved story forward, and also some interesting revelations were seen. Acting, writing and directing were very solid - as it is usual for this show.

Overall, this episode was a good addition to a pretty solid season 4.

Well, it is a drama afterall...
brooksrob17 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I'm grateful for fast forward and streaming...It only takes about 10 minutes to watch an episode. The nuances aren't disguised...I love the show and appreciate the difficulty of writing a show like this...I don't envy the writers...But, I wish it would just get back to cowboying and, I would have rather had Rip fired than the barrel girls...:)..JK...The fight was unnecessary and I really love both of those characters...Hated the vegan chick...I was hoping Beth punched her out... Anyway...I only give 1's or 10's ...It's not a "1" is all I can say..

Continues to entertain!
moviesrule9 December 2021
Still the best show on TV. I love worrying that Walker will be killed off (hugely talented Ryan Bingham). I love gasping at what Beth will say or do and cheering her on. I love worrying about Jimmy and deep down knowing there's an amazing Cowboy in there! I love Kevin Costner's flawless and subtle acting as the patriarch, John. I love watching gorgeous Kayce with his glorious long locks and beard (he's so damn sexy riding a horse) and hoping Monica quits bitching about something. I'm so glad Tate is doing better and finding his inner warrior. I love Rip's devotion to Yellowstone Ranch and to his beloved Beth. Every episode is full and always ends too soon.

Just please cut out the ridiculous long commercials for Taylor's next project!

Episode 406
bobcobb30128 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
So, they have Piper Perabo doing a character mirroring her real life political stunts and endeavors, and then reduce it to sleeping with a man 20 years her senior? I don't know, just felt degrading.

The Beth stuff is just so nauseating too.

evidently my politically correct do over was needed
dolphiea10 December 2021
My original review was "declined" (red print) by imdb. So I am submitting my "homogenized" re-boot. We shall see how far it goes..... Teeters "branding" seems to not mean much, but, isn't it what others have died and killed for? But she was cut loose, cuz she's a girl and the boys in the bunkhouse just can't deal without beating each other over (OMG) estrogen in the bunkhouse!!! NO!! ....Does she have to give the brand back (ouch). Get a lawyer Teeter! As I tried to say before, Beth will only be happy if Jackie O's reincarnation shows up for her daddy.

Laughable but still I'm watching. Idk why
grlym-4684931 December 2021
The show starts with Beth acting tough again in the most stupid ways and reasons. She runs her mouth, but her character has yet to show why she has power or clout. Just a trashy character

The indentured service hands get into a fight. One gets a knife to the heart about 4 inches deep. Then the next scene it's in his clavicle and still looks critical. Then the next morning they brawl one in one for an hour as if they were prized fighters and zero believable aspect that the one had a knife to the chest the night before.

My takeaway is these guys are ranch slaves. Without saying the word, they are treated like it. Like Roman gladiators they are to work for the man in charge, their lives, pleasures, aspiration are forfeit. They are even branded like cattle with the owners stamp

Beyond giving RIP a wife, almost no ranch hands have been given any meaningful backstory, trial, development. And if it is, it is really as a dialogue to show how Costner and RIP are tough guys with huge egos.

The only exception to this is the young cowboy sent to the 6666. He seems to have several beginnings if a story arch, but poor writing (or lack thereof) does not finish it in any meaningful way each time. So it leaves me with the only plot this show has is, cowboys workethic and egos can WILL away anything because they are just that tough. Gun shots, knife wounds to the heart, broken spine, criminal acts in public....it can all just be willed away.

Very disappointing season so far!
jeersNcheers7 December 2021
Apparently the show's movers and shakers have had their focus on 1883 and Mayor of Kingstown rather than on Yellowstone. NOTHING IS HAPPENING THIS SEASON! Most of this episode was filler. The only thing of substance was Jamie Dutton 'confronting' his biological father, which went nowhere fast, by the way. The rest of the episode was Jimmy riding and eating; moving in and watching Tate and the dog play; the fights, including the one in the kitchen; the firings; bed scenes. Entertainment quality has been well below what I've come to expect in previous seasons. This episode was boring and barely worth watching. As another reviewer said, "I'm waiting for the season to begin."

Decent ep though still waiting for the season to begin
terrylarosa6 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
In real life Lloyd and Walker would probably be in the ICU now and how was it fair that Walker was forced to fight with the knife injury he had just sustained? Whatever. Why are we being tortured with Jimmy becoming a cowboy at a glaciers pace? Why hasn't something significant happened ( except for the opening premiere scene ) in 6 meandering eps? Why hasn't utter trash Beth had security called on her vile person and thrown out of every office she slithers into? Why is that uninteresting kid still around? Why do we never see Beth and Rip ( two of the most hostile characters ) have a single argument when in real life one of them would have been a corpse by now? At this point the only entertaining aspect of the show is Kayce doing whatever it takes to make his marriage work. The season started with a bang and will most likely end with a whimper or possibly a screeching harpy making everyone's life hell merely by existing ( including common sense viewers).

Kevin Costners Ego,
GoldenGooner0419 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This was all about his EGO, He had to sleep with the young woman, cause hey man "I'm Kevin Costner" But maybe the way the world it is at the moment, this was not great timing.

I hope this don't turn into another The Blacklist, started off like a Rocket to the Moon, then it become about just making money, and the writing went to pot with the acting.

Dallas was Great but these times have gone, this is meant to be the 2020s is it not.

This series is fast running out of steam, and why do I need to put in 160 characters, why is that a rule now?

Ok, i feel Beth is a vile horrible character, and of course her swearing makes her seem so big and more mean NOT.

... dumb as it gets.. till next one
bjarias7 December 2021
... it seems like each episode of this season gets more stupid than the last ... how is any of this worthwhile for any reason ... right now there's maybe one character that's worth watching ... any one of all the rest could be written out of the script and wouldn't matter a bit.

A slow episode but with a very important plotpoint
vzmxzsvs17 February 2023
Every series has its occasional 'slow' episode. This one is definitely it. Nothing much going on, Jimmy doing his Texas thing, Monica and Kayce slowly heading into a new direction, Jaimy and Beth still not liking each other. But, without spoiling it, this is a very important episode. It has one scene that will last the series for some time, I reckon. Of course everybody wants to get closure about the killings. But that's not the 'Montana kind of pace'. This is also a series about nature, the spirituality of the place and the need for people to keep it in tact. That is a slow proces, so we have to endure that slow pace. Viewers impatience is not to be blamed on the writers in this one. Just sit back, relax and savour the spectacular plotpoint.

Please, tell me what I'm missing
Beavr0914 January 2022
This episode was, by far, the most poorly written of them all. And there has far more bad writing than good in this show's 4 seasons. The writers are incapable of sticking with their own plot lines! The female main characters are the stereotypical crazy women or raging psychopaths. This nothing more than the Sopranos meets a telenovella set in Montana.

This season is a train wreck that just gets worse and worse.
garnet-suss7 December 2021
It's one idiotic conflict after another. The plot hardly progresses because it's so pqcked full of stupid arguments and fights, every character gets more and more unreasonable and aggressive each episode. It's like the WWE produced a western. I don't know if I can even watch another episode, this season is a total trainwr.

So disappointed with Rip
jjsoltis6 December 2021
So tired of the ads. Too many. Promoting the spin offs. And what is Rips problem? Does he see what's really going on. He needs to remember who Lloyd is.

Absolutely hated this episode
tennismenace7 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This episode has now become the worst (so far) episode of Yellowstone.

A 10 minute fistfight, a horrible dialogue between weak Jamie and his sick Dad, so much boring time watching Jimmy grow up to be a Cowboy, Monica repeatedly telling us how much she loves being away from Y, and who can forget Summer keeping bored Papa Dutton busy? At least Beth made me laugh once.

Almost quitted watching the show
Ziro1024 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Let's start with the most predictable scene ever: I think the conversation between Jamie and his street smart, forward-thinking, manipulative, wise and intelligent (as all washed-up former drug-addicted hillbilly murderers who served time in prison are) biological father was predicted by every single person who saw the episode, right down to the hug.

The most unnecessary characters that ever existed in a series have finally left the bunkhouse. I even forgot their job title (barrel girls?). In a ranch where there are strict and clear rules that are enforced by Rip again and again, these characters were too long and unbelievable on the ranch.

Everyone on this ranch seems to be a slave to do whatever Rip and John tells them to do. I mean, do they all have no lives, no futures, no dreams, no hobbies, no families, no lifes, no partners or no children? The only thing they do is listen to Rip.

Rip is a ruthless robot who bullies, humiliates and intimidates everyone. In a previous episode there was a short flashback of what Lloyd did for him and it seems that he was the only one who was always there for him, yet he puts everything above their friendship and treats him like a slave. We are probably supposed to see some sympathies and deeper reasons in Rip's actions.

Also we witnessed a fight that lasts over an hour between someone who was pierced with a knife and pumped full of cattle drugs the day before and an old man with infinite stamina. I thought I was watching an anime.

Jamie as attorney general has no security? His secretary just lets someone into his office without getting Jamie's approval? And do the writers seriously believe that Beth stubbing out a cigarette on the table with her legs on it makes her seem cool and intimidating?

Even after four seasons there is zero chemistry between Casey and Monica. Monica always has the same facial expression, always the same complaints and always the same problems. We get it, you were in a bad place and you deserve better. Please enjoy the new scenery and grow old there.

I won't even mention the rebellious w0ke vegan environmental activist storyline.

Lazy writing. But it's too late to quit the show, before the season ends at least.

Less and less interesting all the time
ovhiypz8 December 2021
Thought I'd give this show one last watch. Mistake. Each episode the story line is becoming less and less interesting, the characters more and more unlikable, the whole show more laughably unreal and cartoonish (ex: breakfast table with Beth and John's guest; everything about Beth).

Mean, nasty people all the way around, the only character with redeeming value, other than the kid, who is slowly being schooled in the ways of the cowboy mafia, is Walker, who isn't there on his own will, lonesome cowboy twang in between or not.

In real life, every single adult male member and employee of the Dutton Crime Family would be in prison by now. (Jimmy doesn't count. His time in this show is just an ad for the spinoff, which looks like it's going to be a really boring one.)

But the Proud Boys, The Three-Percenters and other lovers of violence I'm sure eat up this show while stroking the barrels of their AK-47s - since everything gets solved by violence is the lesson.

Just cut to the chase, put them all in prison, and let the natives, led by Tate, who will inherit the ranch, take the land back, bring back the buffaloes and the wolves, and restore it.
