The Bad Seed Returns
dwvgywsn7 November 2022
I was disappointed with the movie because I thought Sara would finally get her punishment. How can a teenager get away with so much evil acts. The movie was unrealistic because the people who knew waited for her to continue to kill and not do anything even though they knew what she was capable of doing. I watched both movies and for her to continue her killing, was a little bit far fetched. It only showed that evil over powers the good. I don't think I will watch the next sequel if there is one because it showed a poor storyline. Let's hope in real life this would not happen because it would really be sad to know how easy it is for teenagers to do evil acts.

Could've been better

Warning: Spoilers
First of all, I love the first movie and I was hoping to get a sequel because of it's ending. Now for this one, it was actually okay, first half was okay. And I enjoy watching the actress. What I didn't like is the ending, once again she won. I mean, it would be okay if the one who died did something bad but no, they're kind and yet the girl did them so bad. There are also moments where you can't help but to think "impossible" "that's just stupid", I can't help but to shook my head. What I'm glad for is that she didn't kill the baby. I think this would have been great if the girl didn't win, and end up in a mental hospital or in jail. Like come on, you made her a winner on the first one, that's fine enough, put her to jail this time. I thought the red hair girl will be able to solve the problem but the writer wrote her as stupid. She knew the girl is a psycho yet she went to her house, sat there and drink the choco drink the girl gave her. The hell? You really believe she will tell you everything?

I would probably rate this higher if it wasn't for all the stupid scenes and bad ending.

Just great acting of Ella Dixon
K-WAF25 January 2023
10 points for Ella Dixon great acting, she looks like a diamond in the rough. She brings out the most of her character, creating some mystery with her body expression.

But the plot of the movie is too simple, too predictive and there is 0 suspense or something to make you think after the end.

The characters in general seem naive, their decisions and acts in front of tragic facts are very unreal.

Frankly, the thing I really liked is Ella Dixon's performance, that manages to give her character a bit of depth, since the plot doesn't give us much.

I enjoyed watching the movie, but I don't think it's one I'll watch again after a while.

Disapppointed
highlydesirable7 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Very disappointed with this ending or should I say lack of one as this never ending saga of Emma does what Emma wants to do: and that's commit murder and gets away with it each and every time. Like nothing. No big deal. Was so hoping that this was going to be the end of psycho Emma but I realized that was nit going to happen. So what now? She goes on to college and continue on with her evil, wicked, manipulative, deceptive and murderous ways. Horrible, horrible ending. U mean how could the writers leave it up to this psychopath to raise her baby cousin, and for what? To be like her? I'm so done with the Bad Seed movies. Enough is enough.

Worth a watch, forget it's Lifetime
ebookgamer26 October 2022
First of all, don't be put off by it being a Lifetime movie, if they start making all their movies this good, camera work, script, locations and acting, their reputation for movies will skyrocket. Worth a watch, and so glad I wasn't put off by it being a Lifetime movie.

It's on par with quality films releases by Netflix or Prime, a lot of talented people involved in the acting through to bystanders and small details.

The protagonist did remind me of Britney Spears' Baby one more time.

Ignore bad reviews who compare it to the 1950s movie, it's 2022 now and stands on its own as a film. Try it, or watch the first one with the same actress in first, from 2018.

Warning: Spoilers
Just as I was afraid of. Nothing new. Just like the first one. Emma kills, Emma gets away with it. At least we get to see her get witch-slapped across the face. But my fear was it was going to be another "the loved one(s) die and Emma gets away with it" ending like the first. Even Rhoda in the original Bad Seed didn't get all the way away with it. I just hoped for a different more creative ending here in this sequeal, and was sourly disappointed! The victims seemed smarter but in the end pulled some stupid stunts and got themselves killed. I love Mckenna Grace, but this story ended disappointingly.

Bad Ending , another sequel to come.
Blueepearlss28 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
First and foremost before I knew this was a remake , I was thinking it was similar to Orphan in some type of way. I believe this movie is good for people who don't mind the villain getting away .... Once again. I feel like Kat knew too much for her fate to be that way , why did she need to meet face to face at her house to get information? You knew she was a killer yet , you go into her territory? That didn't make much sense coming from a real life point of view. Also the Aunt felt like Emma was up to something but continued to leave her there alone & placed a camera as if it would do something. Had Robert said something immediately after he remembered, the whole movie would've been over. She could've killed him the moment he said what he could do , but she didn't. So why not take the moment to expose her. Too many red flags for someone not to catch on.

Biggest plothole and best line
deedrala8 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
'The Bad Seed Returns'

Firstly, nothing will ever come close to the 1956 original. It was pure perfection in every way, and would've been only half as good in color. The b&w cinematography made it that much more suspenseful, depressing, and compelling.

This movie's prequel with Rob Lowe was ruined from the beginning, mainly because so much was changed from the original - even down to the main characters' names - and he was just too old to be believable as her father. He was the right age to play her grandfather, even with the overdone plastic surgery. But not her dad. And his sister - the girl's aunt - looked like she came from a different family entirely with her blonde hair and big eyes. So, too much was too off throughout to be enjoyable, along with the gaping plot holes that flat-out ruined it - mainly the wasp nest being perfectly removed from the shed and perfectly placed in the car without tearing it by a little girl - all by herself, without being stung 500 times... Right...

As for this sequel, it was just more of the same except this time they actually tried to get the aunt character to look more like her brother instead of from a totally unrelated family. But couldn't they have found a baby with dark hair to match his parents? The red-haired baby in this film was as miscast as Rob Lowe in the first one.

The biggest plothole: Kat was too smart and too wise onto Emma to have let herself be completely conned into not only going to her house (in the pouring rain, to boot) but then to be dumb and off-guard enough to drink anything that Emma would give her. Of course there would've been no blow-up slam-dash twisty ending if Kat had remained her usual smart, watchful self and told Emma on the phone that whatever she had to tell her, she could just simply tell her over the phone, to keep a safe distance from the girl whom she KNOWS is an evil conniving killer. But no, she goes there in torrential rain and takes the hot chocolate from Emma and drinks it without a second thought. She puts herself totally at the mercy of this wicked girl she had been onto from the get-go, from way back in elementary school. That was the worst movie-ruiner for me.

As for best line/dialogue: after Kat told Emma "You won't get away with it..", Emma puts on her brief scared, screaming act for 911, then hangs up and smiles at the drugged Kat and says, "That was me getting away with it".

Mckenna Grace should move on to other roles as she gets older and never do another sequel to these very poor remakes of the original outstanding film. She has talent and looks and plenty of time ahead to enjoy a prolific acting career.

Grade D - 3 out of 10.

Ending Too Open Ended, and Ending was Bad Here!
cassysak6 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Although interesting, entertaining and suspenseful, the writing couldve definitely been a lot tighter, stronger and better. Guess of course leaving things wide open for more sequals. So, what's next? "The Bad Seed Returns Again"? Where Emma terrorizes sority sweethearts while in college? Then after that, "The Bad Seed Returns Thrice or For The 3rd Time" this time at her new office job, then she'll be murdering women from the office, at office parties in the bathrooms, spiking their drinks with drugs, and deleting their work spreadsheets or big presentations which are due. Oh, it could go on and on. Just when wil it ever stop with Emma? When will she ever be caught and have to pay with time behind bars for her many crimes, and the 10 peoples lives and their families lives she's ruined with murder? Who knows? I'll bet she'll never be caught, ever!

Not Awful, Not Great
Foutainoflife15 September 2022
No one can say that the original Bad Seed (1956) is not a riveting psychological horror/thriller. Watching a mother slowly realize that she is raising a straight up psychopath is nothing short of horrific. Great film.

The Bad Seed (2018) is a watered down version of the classic with the twist of a father learning these truths about his daughter. It's an average watch because it just didn't bring anything fresh enough to give it a je ne sais quoi to make it very appealing. Also, its hard to measure up this father/nefarious daughter film with Orphan (2009) being similar but setting a much higher standard.

I was interested to see where they would take the storyline with an older McKenna (even though I would've preferred seeing an older version of Rhoda from the '56 film). True to deranged form, McKenna doesn't fail to be an uncomfortable person to watch.

She's still a shrewd egotist and masterful at hiding her darker side. We watch a few of her schemes turn into close calls and missed opportunities but the movie falls flat in terms of payoff. However, I wouldn't be surprised if there is a third film on the horizon.

It was 'meh'. I didn't love it and I didn't hate it. It was just a middle of the week, night on the couch watch for me. If they make a 3rd film, I'll watch it just to satisfy a slim curiosity.

Perfect movie - the first one and this. I'm giving it a 10 because I know people who think they are badass critics will criticize this somehow as they always do. But it does deserve a 10 for what it is. A lifetime movie. If you have high expectations - please go watch a marvel movie!

The story line was good, clearly similar to the original as it should be. Good music too. I think that was almost the best part. Acting also on point from all the cast.

She is also talented for writing and producing herself too - I've seen it on her Instagram. Lovely actress with a bright future.

Give it a watch if you are having a relaxing day in watching movies or simply if you watched the first movie, you will be pleased.

Warning: Spoilers
This is a very disturbing movie to watch. I was on pins and needles throughout the entire movie thinking she would hurt the baby. I hung in there just to see how she's caught in the end. But she isn't caught and that is disappointing. I'm guessing we have to wait for another sequel. But I don't know if I could go through another sequel unless it clearly says it's the final one. I want to see Justice done. I was very upset after she killed her aunt and uncle. To see her smiling at the end and hearing her say she does not want to be separated from the baby only riled me up more. As you can tell the acting was good if the actors were able to invoke these feelings. I thought the entire cast did well. The acting was above par for a Lifetime movie. I hope I don't have to wait two years for the sequel.

Total Waste
shilpathomas-6597113 January 2023
Completely waste movie. If you like to watch it, suggesting you to see some movie reviews not the entire movie. Same plot as first. Expected she will get the punishment finally. But totally waste of watching. Still the girl kills everyone and escape from everything. I think whoever it is not good to watch such boring films.

Same plot as first. Waste of time. The writers want to make money by making a big series of this film by extending the climax. Not worth watching at all. First time feeling a movie such a piece of trash.

Completely trash. Waste movie. Maybe they have thought they can make us interesting by making the bad person be alive always. But when you seethe first part, u will get irritated that she is not dead yet. Still same thing happened in the second movie. You get more and more irritated. Not worth of watching such a trash.

Bad movie
msmichelleg30 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is trash. The first one wasn't enough? The Uncle and school mate wouldn't tell on the girl. Proof of the psycho with the dog, and the aunt didn't say anything. Good lord! I wish I could get my time back. The psycho could kill everyone in a small town, and noone would tell. 🤣This is the one of the worst Lifetime movies ever. Let me guess that a third one will be made and noone will tell, and the cycle will continue. Everyone dies but the psycho. What a waste of time. Two thumbs down!!! Part one was enough. The actors are decent. The movie itself is trash! Trash! Trash! Trash! Just trash!!!

Mckenna Grace is back for more
SnoopyStyle25 April 2024
Secret psychopath Emma Grossman (Mckenna Grace) is now living with her aunt Angela's family. Kat is the new girl at her high school who comes from her old life. Kat suspects Emma for all the deaths. Of course, Emma has not changed and cannot change.

Mckenna Grace is almost an A-lister at this point, or Lifetime wouldn't continue this franchise. I don't think that she should continue this thing anyways. This reminds me of Macaulay Culkin doing The Good Son. It is always tough to have a villain as the lead character who has anti-rooting interest. I'm wondering if we should be following Kat instead.

Warning: Spoilers
POSTIVE : McKenna grace acting was top notch , no words for her as we all know how great she is .

Others done well in their given characters .( ELLA DIXON ) she is g.o.a.t in the movie . Audience will love her role . She nailed it perfectly. She owns a bright future in cinema . Seriously (kat) stands alone from other even including McKenna grace !

NEGATIVE : The film begins with Emma (grace ) characterization as subtle psychopath and ends up blunt and very disappointing storyline . Not worth for second time watch . Same old plot as first film ( the bad seed ) . Ending should have done better but could not expect anything as if { Orphan first kill } , even that film was established as prequel but ( bad seed returns ) was sequel should had put an end to Emma . The impact between Emma and Kat should been improvised A LOT. They had a very good conflict all the way in the movie but nope , it's was lame too!

Good but disturbing movie
serafina-7725026 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The acting of the actress in this movie is very good but it's so disturbing to watch movie like this!! I don't tolerate this kind of movie. I just don't like the end of the movie, i thought she'll get caught because of the bad things she has done. It's irritating how she do that, to people around her?? Loves her but in return she killed them ??? Like wtf. Yea i get it, she has that asd. 5 out of 10 that's all i can give, 5 for the acting and -5 for her actions !! Killed your own dad, aund and innocent people??? That's a no no for me. I felt bad for the baby to what she has done to the parents of the baby.

Below average experience
patrickodhiambo11 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I recommend the plot on giving Emma a normal life, a competitive field of learning and enrichment, friends and good social stutus. Tho it could atleast potray some emotions to this stutuses and how a psychopath would relate to them and reduce the mirror scene to one good scene. I feel like as the viewer I only get Emma's reaction to social statuses is through a very not convincing mirror scene.

Second I feel as tho the character Kat could have been expanded to give Emma a reason to watch out. Now I feel as though she's dead, she has not made any impact or difference to the film. A good background to her story should give her a good reason to follow Emma to the new town or try to atleast bring out the beast in Emma at a public place. If Kat had a parner, not even mentioned. I mean it looks random and poor story line to challenge a psychopath without a plan B.

We don't know if emma loved her aunt or she was just collateral in her big scheme but a tear drop or an emotion would have brought out something new about emma showing that she felt suddend about loosing someone who tried to give her the whole world. This would mean that ger aunt won't find out about her psycopathic nature but be atleast suppotive and welcoming to an orphan, this will give character emphasis on the uncle as someone who tries to prove Emmas nature.

There are some psycopathic natures they got wrong: first of all Emma would have released the baby to fall in the pool if she knew her aunt had arrived. This means she was trying to spice up a beef and not kill the baby. But on the scene Emma did want to kill the baby and her aunt luckily arrived.

Secondly her uncle found the knife after seeng Emma's open drower. In reality Emma would have closed the drower as its a petern she wouldn't deviate from and her uncle shouldn't have found the knife at all.

Thirdly, Emna should have given us a good reason as to why she should be dance captain, this scene was interrupted by Kat and in my opinion Emma could have looked Kat in the eyes and pose showing that Kat has crawled into her skin or give us a reason why she sees herself a good captain without Kat interrupting.

The Bad Seed Returns is an amazing Thriller movie must watch!
adityatamrakar8 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Contain a little bit of spoilers.

Well I do not have any much words to say it except one word or two that It was EPIC Psychotic big bad seed movie, Loved it and gonna watch it again and I will wait for 3rd sequel... Great casting and Mckenna Grace nailed it with her big bad Psycho acting, attitude while smoking and etcetera it was just amazing thriller and writing that the casting was really amazing natural and good acting well directed and written..

Emma has become more smart on doing her hurting stuffs like how she overcome when aunt Angela almost caught her and she confessed in the manner like she did not hurt that dog she was just pissed off from Steff and just freed her dog while in 1st part she confessed everything to her dad, maybe in 3rd sequel she will get much smarter and even hide her evidences then it will become more difficult for the people or cops to find out...

What else can I say?....

This movie is basically the same as it's predecessor, except weaker
eatarver25 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
When I say predecessor I mean the 2018 "The Bad Seed" movie, and yeah it sucked. If you seen the first one please don't waste your time and see this movie, because the core premise and character's roles is pretty much the same. Surprisingly, even though I still think this movie still kind of suck for having the exact same premise and character's roles, I wouldn't mind this laziness; but as soon as this movie tries to put out the narrative that this psychopath wants to be with her blood family, I threw my hands up because this was a load of bull. This is the same psychopathic girl who attempted to kill her own father all because he stated that he did not know what to think of her (how dare he trying to process what his daughter did over years). Screw the fact that the man is obviously her ally and he skipped town for something she did, he had to go because she couldn't tolerate a blemish from him. Rhoda/Emma is a character who is established to only care about herself, her greed, and her narcissistic desire to be seen as the best in everything. At best she will tolerate others, at worst she will kill you if you have something that she wants or thinks she deserves and/or if she thinks that you are a threat (no matter how minor) to her, and she will dispose you. So "The Return of the Bad Seed", just stop, that narrative have so many holes and contradictions.

After you debunk that idiotic narrative, you will come across another hole in this story, which is how idiotic Emma's beef with her uncle. Why was she fighting this man? He literally was offering to send her away to a school that will greatly heighten her chances to get into an Ivy League school. Shouldn't this over-achieving, narcissistic, psychopathic, girl be delighted that someone is helping her is attempting to giving her the best, something she thinks she deserves? If this was the Emma from the first movie or even Rhoda from 1956 movie they wouldn't killed him, because he has some use to them. It's completely out of character for Emma to remotely harm a useful pawn.

Then there's Kat. She's supposed to be the Chloe of this movie. But unlike Chloe, Kat has less connections to the main antagonist (besides being a prop to demonstrate Emma's true nature in the first movie); she less effective to practically useless (Chloe helped move the plot by getting Emma's dad to finally suspect his creepy daughter; Kat is this wannabe obsessive detective who couldn't even get anyone to suspect Emma, in fact her antics made Emma seem more of the victim); and she went our way, way worse (Chloe was her babysitter/nanny of course she would look for Emma, it's her job. Plus, she was trying to woo Emma's dad; Kat had no real reason to go up to that house, and if she such an Emma expert that she made herself put to be she should've seen this trap from a mile away. But she's such a weakly connected, pointless character she couldn't resist going there and finding some purpose for her existence in this movie).

Finally, the latter part about psychological diagnosis aspects of this movie is horrendous. How did Emma "found out" she's a psychopath? By taking an online quiz! Again movie, no, just no. What puzzled me is that at first the movie was reinforcing the notion from the first that diagnosing a psychopath is quite tricky if you don't have an examples of the person you suspect having anti-social personality disorder doing something in that category. Emma's aunt literally have that psycho on camera killing a dog, instead of sending it to her therapist to see whether it relevant or not (you know having a well researched discussion about psychopathy) , we get treated to Emma taking an online quiz with some superficial questions about psychopathy that congratulate for her being diagnosed as a psychopath. Then after that this little psycho is acting like it's a badge of honor for being a psychopath. Is this movie is about a psychopath or is about people from the Millennial and Generation Z who think having a mental disorder and/or personality disorder is some badge of honor. This movie fails on so many levels, it's not even funny.

Masterpiece of a movie
wasawarthirap13 January 2023
This movie was better than the first one for me due to some reasons. Music being the first of them. The music in this movie was perfectly fitting for the genre and not many movies out there had nailed it like this one.

And it's kinda funny to read the comments of people who has criticized this telling she didn't get what she deserved and similar to the first movie and stuff like that. First of all its not that she just kills in both movies it's how she gets away with them. And not every movie is supposed have a happy and calm ending (if you want that kind of movies you should stick to marvel and Disney as they are critic friendly).

So considering all these facts it's up to the person whether they really like the movie or mot. Sure this isn't meant for everybody but it's not advisable to stupidly criticize movies just because you expected a totally different thing to happen.

If you liked the first one, you'll most probably love this even more so surely give it a try.
