"Why did you come to Devil's Creek!?"
dxavier711 March 2011
Warning: Spoilers
I saw this film at the 2010 Screamfest in Los Angeles. Loved it. Lots of scares, lots of blood. I'm a horror guy and this film for sure satisfied my blood lust. There is is a killer torture scene where the dude is getting electrocuted and he pisses his pants and manages to snap off one of his fingernails. The story was interesting and the structure of the plot forced you to pay attention...it was a bit like Memento or LOST in that some of the flashbacks ended up appearing out of chronological order. I didn't mind it though as it made me want to watch it again to see how they all fit together. Ending has an intense twist that I definitely did not see coming. Pretty cool short, worth seeing.

Yeah this is pretty cool

Warning: Spoilers
Hey so I don't normally write these things but this movie is pretty cool. It's about this guy who jumps off a cliff and gets stabbed by a stick in the middle of nowhere. Then this park ranger guy finds him and takes him back to his cabin and fixes him up. The guy can't remember what happened to him or where his wife is and then the ranger guy starts chasing him and torturing him, trying to get him to remember. Then there's this other guy who is all beaten up and he says that HE'S the real ranger and the other ranger is a fake. I don't want to ruin it but the ranger guy isn't what you think he is.

I saw this movie at the Eerie Horror Film Festival in Erie, PA. I liked it a lot and I thought it was better than a lot of the full length movies that were playing as well. It was pretty scary but it wasn't like crazy disgusting. If it screens at a festival in your area you should try to check it out.

Nice short!

Warning: Spoilers
I got a chance to see this short when it came across my boss's desk. As an assistant in the entertainment industry, I have to watch and read a lot of crap but this short film was a real pleasant surprise. It deftly weaves a compelling story about a preacher who has lost his faith into the thriller/horror/suspense genre without diluting either aspect. Fans of these kinds of genre films will be satisfied by the action and violence, and those interested in watching a story about one man's complex internal struggle with the existence of God will come out of this movie ready for an intellectual debate with their fellow audience members.

Without giving too much away, Adam Mathews, a small town preacher, wakes up in the middle of the woods with a tree branch in his gut and no recollection of how he got there. Luckily a Park Ranger finds him, patches him up, and takes him back to his Ranger Station. After some initial questioning, it becomes clear that Adam has no memory of what happened and a sinking feeling his wife is still lost in the woods. When Adam discovers a prisoner locked up in the basement wearing the same tattered uniform as the Ranger, he realizes that perhaps his rescuer is something much more dangerous. Who is the Ranger? Who is the Prisoner? Where is Adam's wife and how is she connected to everything? All these questions keep you on the edge of your seat for the length of the film.

When this film makes the festival circuit, and I'm sure it will, definitely make an effort to go check it out.
