Big improvement over season 3
c5150-863443 December 2021
I was glad this show rebounded nicely from the dreadful last season, although I didn't realize this was going to be the last one. This didn't really feel like a series finale - I'm sure they made this season before that decision came down - but it was a decent end to a pretty satisfying season (with these mystery shows, rarely does the finale live up to expectations, but at least the overall season was intriguing enough). I thought all of the cast was great and was happy Ambrose wasn't making ridiculous decisions like he was in the back half of season 3. It's a shame his partner Sonya was basically written out halfway through, it seems they just had nothing for her to do. Would love to see Ambrose back at some point, maybe for a TV movie or something.

Cancelling this series was a SIN!
Laqshayaroraofficial2 December 2021
Perfect season finale, things were getting complicated as they added so many characters and things in the last few episodes, glad they cleared everything up in the final episode. Loved the performance of Bill (Harry) and Alice (Percy). Still can't believe they cancelled this awesome series.

The end, now for sure
gossegossegossegosse4 December 2021
I will not discuss the ending or the series, because it is one hundred percent self-sufficient ending. This is the ending that any person who has watched the series from the very beginning will accept and appreciate. A person who knows the concept and who does not expect, for some strange reason, to get a maniac, a cult or something else at the end that would never have been in the series. But as you can see from most episodes and their reviews, for some reason there are a lot of such people, who expected such things and this always confuses me. You watch the show from the very beginning, you know that the show is built on people, their decisions, motives, wrong or right actions. God, the show is called Sinner, but anyway, I stepped back a little.

I'm sorry that this series ends, I really liked the concept, I really liked the character of Bill Pulman and the way he played. Now there is just an amazingly huge number of faded and unremarkable detectives, and against their background, the Sinner has always been something fresh, interesting and which, with each new season, brought something new. But the story had to end sooner or later, and I'm glad the story ended like that. I will miss the show and will rewatch all the seasons more than once in my life.

Believable ending
info-61752 December 2021
This season highlights a lot of human behavior, egoism above all, but also fear, fear of isolation, debt, loneliness, guilt with all of the baggage it brings, depression, drug abuse and violence.. and the actors deliver on making it all believable.

How it all ties up makes this one of the greatest endings in the Sinner series, especially emotionally. It doesn't tie up all of the loose ends though, so there's potential for another season that builds upon this further, with higher stakes for Harry Ambrose. I really do hope that happens, however implausible it may seem.

A Fitting End To A Great Show
kovyhart-19 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
It was a good conclusion to a great show. If only it hadn't been the final episode. The Sinner gave us something different. Unlike other shows, there was more mystery and intrigue that kept the viewer guessing. I believe the subtle way they did it was what made the show so good.

I really enjoyed Season 4. The first half really had me on the edge wondering what really happened to Percy (Alice Kremelberg). We saw Harry Ambrose (Bill Pullman) take an interest in her after they met by the pier. Maybe he saw something in Percy. Who knew he would witness her jump into the ocean in the middle of the night.

I feel like we all questioned what happened. Even our troubled hero Harry wasn't sure what he saw. There were hints of potential reasons for her "disappearance." The Muldoon family didn't want to believe she was gone for good. Every family would feel that way.

The turning point for me was by Part VI when Ambrose finally starts to uncover the dark secrets about Percy. She had a lot of demons which were hidden by the Muldoon's due to their fishing company.

By Part VII, we learn about why things unraveled. As Ambrose gets closer, he keeps pushing until we get the emotional climactic season finale in Part VIII. Finally able to tie up some loose ends by paying close attention to fine details, we find out about the shady side business Percy's Dad Sean and creepy Uncle Colin had to help keep the Muldoon Company afloat.

We also learn how the Lamb's oldest son died tragically in a dispute about a boat he used. When it's revealed who killed him, it is pretty sad. No wonder Percy couldn't escape. She was broken. Her overly protective grandma Meg was selfish in wanting her to stay. We learn why Sean is so weak. So much is uncovered that it's hard to believe.

By the end, her Dad does right by her. Eventually, the Lamb's are off the hook and can have peace. So can Ambrose after he took some dangerous risks that made you wonder about his psyche. At the conclusion, we see him talking to Percy again by the spot she decided to jump. He finally kneels down in unison and makes peace.

I wonder though if that's really the last we've seen of him. Would they ever consider revisiting it down the road? It really was well produced, directed and acted. I thought the chemistry between Pullman and Kremelberg in their imaginary scenes was unique. Ambrose definitely related well to Percy. A tortured soul.

I will miss the show. Thank you to everyone who put so much work into it.

The Sinner wrap up
stevercoronado4 December 2021
Bill Pullman as Detective Harry Ambrose. In this series has always been terrific and overall the story this season was a true pleasure and sad to see it not renewed.

Pullman performance along with Alice Kremelberg as Percy Muldoon as well as Frances Fisher as Meg Muldoon provided solid support to entire series.

I enjoyed the companion segments that directed Harry.

I am optimistic that a streaming provider may position for future consideration in production.

Enjoy.

Great series
gelasma-14 September 2022
I'll regret this series, that joined superb acting, clever writing and nice cinematography.

Even when not completely realistic (as in this episode maybe), the characters' psychology was always finely studied, and eventually quite convincing. There were a lot of sinners in the series, and it took one of them to expose them all... We left the main character up on a bluff, after a moment of self-analysis, and he may have found some level of inner peace... Unfortunately we'll never know what follows for him. One way of seeing this is to say that the series ended precisely because he found peace, that in a way the series was based on the fight with his inner demons and that it could not go on without this. So he saved himself and killed the series... oh well... Anyway, kudos to Bill Pullman for his great work here.

Bill Pullman's adorable quirkiness carries the show
julieshotmail10 December 2021
This season starts out with an optimistic, cheerful vibe as Harry and his girlfriend arrive in a scenic, sleepy yet bustling town on the east coast for some R & R. Of course darkness soon descends upon the characters, spiraling Harry once again into obsession. The mysterious ambience is well-played, leaving you guessing what may happen next. Then we have the bonus of Bill Pullman's rather odd but fascinating delivery of Harry Ambrose. It is really what keeps me glued to this show. Unfortunately, things somewhat fall apart in the very last episode, where they take the cheap route of the characters merely narrating away the excruciating details of what had happened. It is never good when a viewer can just watch the last episode to learn everything that transpired in the entire season. This consequently turns all preceding episodes into nothing but unnecessary fillers.

The Clifftop Exposition Scene Was Unnecessary
brettsanace26 January 2022
Overall the final episode was good as it tied up all the loose ends, however I felt the clifftop exposition scene between Harry and Percy was unnecessary and insulting to the viewers as it felt like it was saying "Okay, here is a summary of what happened for all you dummies out there".

Season 4
IPyaarCinema19 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Review By Kamal K

The Sinner' is a dark, complex, tell-all mystery around the psychological aspect of family units and the drama circling blood relationships. It opens its viewers' minds to several ideas: gets you thinking as to where does familial love end and love bombing, begin. Percy's track also reiterates that humans are seldom pure, pious and nothing is ever what it seems. As detective Amrose aptly concludes, "Feelings... they crush you."

Impunity of the Entrenched. #whodunitbest
monte-hayward21 October 2022
There's good whodunit and bad whodunit.

#whodunitbad is a multiple choice question: was the culprit A, B, C, or D?

#whodunitbest - I'm getting more and more confused - wait - Now it all makes sense!

#whodunitworse - the culprit is introduced in the last 20 pages or 20 minutes.

The Sinner season 4 is #whodunitbest.

Somehow, this series reveals secrets without seeming manipulative. Just this one episode, the season finale, has 16 cast members. All the personalities are memorable and many are morally ambiguous.

When you find out the killers and criminals, you will be satisfied. Watch The Sinner season 4.

What drives Harry's dogged pursuit when all have left him? Harry Ambrose is a hungry ghost.

A mediocre wrap-up, covering some plot holes
dmedvedenko3 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Percy's side of things is explained rather well. The exposition at the end was in fact not that necessary.

But the fact that Ambrose is hired to do this job, allowed to continue, and after getting almost murdered he just walks free, coming here and there? The culprits would want him dead, wouldn't they? I mean, we know what happened to the others.

And Colin, the hothead who could beat anyone crossing paths with him just yells at his brother to shut up, just lets everyone go? Only granny tries to stop them?

It feels like the writers didn't know how to make this all stick together without Harry getting whacked, so they just stopped trying to kill him altogether.

Strange sloppy writing
rickard06584 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Is this the writers from Lost? Al lot of loose ends. What happened to the night swimming nudists? The incest-allegations? And a new character that shows up and turns out to explain everything. In episode 8? Sad. Bill Pullman saves it from disaster.

Nicely Wrapped Up
Hitchcoc28 July 2023
An absolute necessity for any mystery/drama is that when things get tied together, all elements need to be addressed. Percy needed to be explained. Her suicide had to be explored. But what was most important was that when a family does what this one did, there is a delicate balance that can easily be upset. Bill Pullman's character was really well conceived and carried out. While crimes were committed at least we can understand the motivations. Pride and money usually are at the center of things and this was no exception. One thing that was troubling. It was how Harry was able to come and go so easily when there was so much danger around. He seems almost invulnerable.

Season Four Review
southdavid20 October 2023
I've written individual reviews for each season of "The Sinner". The first two seasons I thought were solid enough stuff, anchored by a good central performance from Bill Pullman, the third though was a bizarre misstep, lacking in credibility. What would the fourth bring?

Now retired, Harry Ambrose (Bill Pullman) and Sonya (Jessica Hecht) travel to a Maine Island community for the summer. Harry meets local girl Percy (Alice Kremelberg) and they have a brief conversation. That night, whilst out for a late-night walk, Harry sees Percy leap from the cliff to her death, but when no body is found can Harry's fragile mental state be trusted for him to be a reliable witness.

Undeniably, this final season is a much better one than the one that preceded it. I'm not convinced it truly gets back to what I thought was the hook of the series, but at the least it's a much better case as Ambrose investigates why Percy took her own life. It is, perhaps, straining the credibility again that he would be allowed to get so involved in the investigation but nothing like some of the leaps required for the third run. It's much more of a mystery too, with Harry uncovering facts and us, as the audience, seeing moments reconceptualised as we learn more about them. Bill Pullman's performance remains a central reason for watching though, and he gets to spar with Francis Fisher as the series progresses.

There's maybe not quite enough to it to make all 8 episodes undeniably compelling and perhaps a few of the actors in it are playing characters similar to what we've seen them do before.

It feels like the right time to end "The Sinner" for me, there were some good times to be had, especially with the second season, but if you were to ask me overall whether I'd recommend it to someone new, them I'm afraid that I'd probably say that I wouldn't.

Disappointing Finale
rtptytrsfg2 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was odd in the way it tied up loose ends. Not sure how to define how disappointing this series finale was. Nothing learned and not believable in the acting. Things happen that make no sense, and no closure. A waste of an hour.

If you are as crooked as a dog's leg then you must not let a retired detective with insomnia to holiday on your island.
pranesh-341634 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Bunch of crooked fisherman murder a dude on a boat and haul him onshore to tell his parents they shot him. Yea, what else could they have done to the body on a boat in the middle of water. Just drags on and on. Not just the Chinese guys - they are all on the lam.

Whole season looked like a promotion of evil behaviors
vognar5 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Last season was such a dissapoinment. One could tell, from the very beginning, that people who wear cross and read a bible will be evil. This is so netflix-like. Show character who pray/go to church/read bible and then make them either look like crazy maniacs or simply evil persons. In the end convert christian to shamanism and show them as reborn happy.

Also whole season felt like a story about suicide being a way out of problems and dabating wheter suicide is a way or not. Come on!! Harry- suicidal, Sonia- saying how she was thinking about commiting suicide, Percy- commited suicide. Sorry but I dont buy it and it also makes me sick.
