The Pigs Were Good
acplc20 August 2022
A strange film. Sam sets off to find his long-lost father and ends up a slave to a pig farmers daughter. What happens after that is a strange mix of violence, conspiring farmers and pigs that appear to talk, not that the only person that can hear them can understand them. Well photographed and acted the film moves at a good pace and I suppose it's up to the viewer to decide Sam's decisions as there are a lot of different possibilities. The classical music background was at times poignant and at others rather annoying. Worth a watch if you like a film with puzzles. The pigs acted very well.

Subversive Fairy Tale.

Impressive little movie that is worth anyone's time.

Well written, acted and directed but it keeps you wondering what is coming next.

Some strange choices made by some characters but it just added to the slightly weird air about this movie.

cute movie

Cute movie, a little dry to start but pays out in the end.

Little bit of male nudity, not vulgar but is pertinent to the story, wasn't full frontal or sexual.

the piglet

Warning: Spoilers
The little piglet is the star of this modern fairy tale, mixing cliches about East Europe, proposing a story defined by serious ambiguity, offering good acting, a some eccentric story and a lot of good intentions. Nothing remarkable but just nice definition of characters, old theme of stranger in isolated community, the language , full of clues from large zone of East and Central Europe and the situations , provocative in a way or other.

Love, captivity, a lost father and not the most nice father in law, some vodka and treatment like for pigs and, sure, the little pig as guide in a strange, touching, amusing and interrogative story about options, bad luck and a sweet crafted circle of events.

So, Samuel's Travels ( the reference to Gulliver just works in special manner in this case )

What the hell did I watch

Idk what to make of this movie. It's strangely charming but also filled with nonsensical rubbish like pigs that talk. If it was trying to convey a social commentary then it went over my head.

The acting is good and the sexual tension between the two leads keeps it interesting. But that's all this movie had going for it.

None of the other characters are particularly interesting. It's a mixed bag of country simpletons and a farm laborer that looks like he may be from an incestuous relationship. Who then at some point begins crawling on all fours and acts like a dog.

It's obviously a dark comedy.

Widely Entertaining

It's a bit weird, a bit charming, a bit dark, a bit funny, and overall, worth a watch. In some ways it reminded me of the novel "Animal Farm", where humans end up becoming the pigs, but with an odd Stockholm syndrome twist to it. Some may question how a movie with a description like that could ever be comical, but you'll just have to watch it for yourself to understand.

I randomly stumbled across this film after watching "Close" (FYI these two films are not even remotely similar in the slightest). I was looking into some of the other movies cast members had been in, and I discovered Belgian actor Kevin Janssens. I will say that I am now a huge fan of his. I'd be willing to bet many other people will feel similarly after watching it.

Covertly BDSM movie
mmartic-2193726 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Weird and bizzare BDSM-ish movie with lots of unexpected twists and turns. I didn't quite get it at first, but the more I think about it, the more I believe it was covertly made for BDSM crew. He fell in love with her while being her slave and had enough of her when their life started getting conventionally boring.

And that's about it. I need to write more required characters in order to post this comment.

I believe you would enjoy this movie if you are into BSDM relationships and prefer arty, bizzare movies. There is a sexual tension between main characters, plus they are good looking. Removing a bullet from her vagina was weirdly hot.

Makin Bacon...

Warning: Spoilers
Weird and strange but that just adds to this films charm and darkness.

Sexual tension between the lead actors keep the interest alive and the hope he finds a way to escape.

You could do a lot worse than to spend an hour or so watching this little gem of a film.
