Sometimes when you almost murder your spouse you deserve what you get
idlehero18 July 2023
The survival story of Jake's ex wife would be the better doc here I think. I hope when they took the staples out of her head where Jake smashed her with a wine bottle she doesn't have permanent scaring. Ignoring what happened for the first hour and 45 minutes of this doc was an interesting approach. Sometimes it's ok to not give someone a second chance after doing something so vile. And to then play a victim instead of truly trying to own up to mistakes. I agree that we can learn from mistakes and there can be room for forgiveness at times, but Jake doesn't really seem interested in that. He wants to blame others for what HE got himself into and that's BS.

To the anti "cancel culture" crowd here leaving this film 10/10 stars, are you all buying Bud Light right now?

What Is This?
lamchop-812409 May 2024
I saw this on Tubi just now. I was thinking it was going to be something like, "I posted something online and people reacted negatively."

This guy grabbed his ex-wife by the hair and threw her down, then hit her with a bottle. The whole movie is about how hard he worked and how he doesn't deserve consequences, while sad piano music plays in the background.

The whole thing is worse than when Kevin Spacey apologized. 1:23:30 is about where he starts talking about it.

He got drunk and then got mad that his business partner/ex tried to keep the restaurant running that night after he bounced and then beat her up behind the restaurant.

What kind of universe is he living in? This is a portrait of someone incapable of introspection, who feels persecuted because he reacted violently to having his ego bruised. How do people get like this?

Masterpiece

I just wanted to say thank you to Nadia and Jacob for being so brave and open to sharing your inspirational story. This must have been so difficult to do, but also so important to show others that cancel culture is wrong and hurts everyone around the "canceled". Konro restaurant looks to be the best dining experience in America and I can't wait to try! Thanks again.

A time to restart

I must admit that when i heard there was going to be a doc about Chef Jacob, i was a little surprised, i was little interested, a little intrigued.

After seeing 42 grams, i had a not so great impression of Chef jacob. Fast forward, i see his growth, his accountability for the past.

No one is perfect, we have all made massive mistakes, it's the stronger person, the person who understands where they have been, the damage they have caused that will rise above the noise, the past, the hate and grow from there.

I can see that Chef Jacob has grown, his food is still over the top, his creative is brilliant, and his humility is massive.

Chef has grow, it shows, his wife is stronger than anyone i've ever seen in this type of situation, it takes strength, courage and love to move forward, to continue to grow.

This doc shows the other side to the hate that came from this situation, as wrong and tragic as it was, it shows the cancel culture and hate that people can have, but, love heals all, forgiveness is paramount, life must on and we must always build bridges to healing for everyone.

I wish Chef Jacob serenity, peace, forgiveness and love, all positivity.

Life is to short.

Peace.

Inspiring

Every Chef has a story to tell wether good or bad. From 42 grams to 86ed is just a pure outburst of success, failure and a second attempt to gain back what was lost.

The documentary conveyed raw emotions of everyone involved and showed the true hearts of people. Amidst the effect of cancel culture and how it affected Jacob and Nadia and everyone around them they never stopped fighting back for they deserve a second chance. A year ago I decided to quit cooking as a profession and just look for a new job trade but my Chef told me to watch 42 grams and it gave me inspiration to continue cooking and 86ed is giving me that same vibe to move forward and continue my passion even what's happening around me.

To Jacob and Nadia, know that there are still people out there you guys are inspiring. Continue the fight.

Must see. Follow a Michelin star chef's roller coaster life style to fall from grace and to find redemption. Cancel culture attacks more than one person; it attacks all around them.

The second chance of the life !!!!
gabrielllarena2 April 2022
Thanks again, chef Jacob, for opening the door of your life and showing the reality of the food industry. In the food industry we always think everything is perfect behind us. But we only show one side of the picture, but we always forget what is behind. Long periods of hours of work, sometimes with no pay, people with mental health problems and another big group of people with addictions. The food industry is not the golden ticket, but this movie covers not only what chef Jacob suffered to come back from a mistake he made long time ago and how the people have not given him a second chance to prove that he made a mistake and now it is different. I hope this movie opens the eyes of the audience and understands the reality of the food industry and how much heat the families around Can suffered.

"I will forever believe in second chances and forgiveness, because if it weren't for those two things I would and should be dead." - Dedrick D. L. Pitter.

A redemption story
wbradfordheaton9 April 2022
I watched 42 grams and been following Chef for years. This was a raw, in your face acceptance of past mistakes and search for redemption that you never see in todays culture.

What an amazing story and truely inspiring to see how creative and passionate he is. And how he admits to fucking up but moving forward from it and not letting things stop him.

Raw, Motivational, Heartfelt, and Inspiring

Michelin Star Chef Jacob Bickelhaupt of 42 Grams documentary and Konro; puts it all out on the table in this revealing and profoundly sincere documentary. This film gives him the voice to speak out about his experience with addiction, recovery, forgiveness, cancel-culture, and the detrimental outcomes that media has on negatively impacting mental health. This is more than just a documentary. It is a personal reflection of overcoming unfortunate events, seeking forgiveness, and another chance with Love, Health, Career, and Family.

A Culinary Story of Redemption
imprimisxo1 April 2022
As someone who has been through recovery I understand how difficult it is to walk the walk. Jacob, with Nadia by his side, is walking the walk.

This is a terrific account of Jacob and Nadia taking on the haters of cancel culture while continuing to be creative in an insanely competitive, and sometimes unforgiving field.

This film is an inspiring story of a couple who, despite a horrible incident, choose to rebuild and thrive against all odds.

A Must Watch Michelin Star Chef Documentary
ccbuckthorn28 March 2022
From Jacob bickelhaupt of Konro restaurant and 42 Grams is a heartfelt story of second chances. You must watch this film! Cancel culture is toxic and is ruining the lives of people that need help, not bullying and harassment. We need to show with our actions that mental health and addiction is real and must be acknowledged as a disease that deserves treatment.

Worth the watch.

A real inside look at chef Jacobs life since 42 Grams and the devastating ripple affects of cancel culture. I think wherever you stand on the issues from 42 grams and what's come from it you need to see this documentary.

Well done!
