Outstanding adaptation!!!!!

I love this show can't wait for a second season!!!!! It's is a new take on the books with still keeping the essence of the characters still intact. I love it and I love getting to see so many of the things they put in for the book fans!!!! I has gone and made me read the books all over again just so I can guess where they are going to take this new world they are building!!! I love like to say I think the best part is the cast!!! They picked the perfect people to play them!!! Next would have to be where they shoot at it was so real and beautiful and really felt other worldly. I feel like they really understood what the books where about and made it into to something we can love even more!!!!!

Giving it a chance

It's true that it is far from the books we've read, I won't lie. However, keep in mind it's an adaptation and it works well as it goes on. If you are a book lover, then I will tell you something that actually made me go "well, if you put it like that" - I read comments that said "if you just go in thinking of it as a fanfic it works." And it truly does. Another thing is "the essence of what you love about the books is there." The friendship, the bonds, the drama and romance - it's all there. So go in with an open mind and heart. The cast really does care about the story and it shows. It's worth the shot.

Honestly I love the books but I am so grateful they have matured this series and given it a darker and more adult feel! I swear if you can hang in for the first few episodes whilst the series finds its feet you will become hooked! I am addicted! Ignore all the comments of it's nothing like the book because let's face it the books are from when we were young we are all older now it needed to age up with us! The cast have done an amazing job giving the characters life and the effects are great for a pilot! Add this series to your must see list I guarantee it is only going to get bigger and better from here!

Where to start on what Peacock did wrong.

Casting choices, Rose half Arabian half White in the source material, they chose a black actress.

Dimitri Belikov Russian Christian Ozera Romanian None of the choices were right, which ruined the show for those that have read the books.

The flow of the show is all over the place jumping from one thing to another without fully exploring or explaining which if you haven't read the books you won't really understand.

Oh & changing Victor, Mia, Tatiana just to tick boxes was the icing on the cake.

Unless the last half on the season is superb then this won't get a second season.

I've read the books and have always loved them! That being said I was thoroughly surprised by how much I enjoyed the show. Although it is not the same as the book , which no adaptation is, it has enough of the storyline to keep book readers interest as well as people who have not read the books. I was worried that I wouldn't be as interested since I knew what was going to happen, but the changes they've made have kept me in the edge of my seat.

I also would like to mention the amazing costume design for the characters. From the ballgowns to the training uniform, the costume department did an amazing job!

Also the representation in the show is immaculate!

Watch out book lovers. Yikes.

If you've read the books, don't bother with this one. Probably worse than the film adaptation in my opinion. The show started at a really bizarre spot, jumping all over the place in a fashion that, even having read the books, was extremely confusing. They chose to leave out some very important plot elements (such as Lissa and Rose being on the run). The shadow bond was introduced very late in the episode and looks like Raven's visions from That's So Raven. Furthermore, Dimitri isn't Russian. Tatiana isn't Queen. Victor Dashkov has some weird relations with Sonya Karp and Mia Rinaldi.

I don't think I can finish this episode, let alone watch the entire season. This show is a cringey mess with no love for the source material. If you're a fan of the books, don't bother watching.
