Tell me, what should be the sole purpose of a thriller? To deliver 'thrills' right? Let me assure you, 'Blurr' has served its purpose just fine! If you consider yourself a fan of this particular genre, then rest assured, you're going to have plenty to enjoy.

Despite its flaws (which are strictly numbered BTW), as well as the fact that it's a Bollywood retelling of a well-known Spanish thriller (Julia's Eyes); I believe this would still appeal to a much wider set of audience just because of how neat and tidy the whole execution comes to be.

Be it the stunning picturization, or the minutely detailed background score; the technical sides are indeed remarkable. The story is borrowed, yes, but the creators still had the responsibility to safeguard the actual essence of the original screenplay, which they did. Albeit the pacing to me seemed a bit off at certain places, tighter editing might have yielded better results in my opinion.

Dont trust the rating. Watch it

I dont know why this movie is given such bad rating. It is very good for a bollywood thriller. Once of the better ones I have seen.

If you like thrillers and suspense movies, you would most probably like it. The story is well written and the direction is on point. Some scenes could be shorter but overall the movie didnt bore. Acting by the character Gayatri was on point and she carried the whole film forward.

Another aspect that kept me involved was that until the very last moment, the movies isnt very predictable. You keep guessing and you keep failing to guess. I think its a well made bollywood movie and you should give it a try. Simply ignore the low rating this movie has right now.

Blurr : A Decent Thriller

Directed by Ajay Bahl starring Taapsee Panu, Gulshan Devaiah in lead role. The film is an official remake of the Spanish film "Julia's eyes. The movie directly premiered on Zee 5 platform on 9th December 2022.

Plot of the Movie.

Taapse Panu playing dual role of Gayathri and Gautami wherein both of them have progressive vision loss.

One morning it's been found that Gautami committed suicide & Gayathri very hard to accept the fact & she is on the quest to know the truth behind her sister's murder.

Observations of the Movie.

1) Taapsee as the lead role wherein more than gautami the deceased, character of Gayathri had the screen presence & she enacted it well.

2) Gulshan Devaiah done a decent performance.

3) Those who haven't seen the original, Blurr takes you through the thrill moment where viewers will have a question as what is the mystery behind it.

4) But still, when the movie reaches completes its 1 hour, the screenplay is too efficient enough to provide us the predictability.

Overall, a decent thriller watchable movie.

Tapasee is brilliant!! Decent well made film!!

Film review: Blurr Streaming on Zee 5 #sanjuzzreviews #BlurrOnZEE5 #blurr #tapseepannu #ZEE5 A remake of the Spanish film Julia's Eyes, Blurr is the story of twin sisters Gayatri and Gautami, both played by Tapasee Pannu. When Gautami, who is visually impaired is found murdered in her remote home in the hills, Gayatri- her twin who is also struggling with her eyesight, takes it upon herself to unravel the mystery behind her sisters death and prove to everyone that it is not a suicide, but a cold blooded murder.

Tapasee Pannu deserves a lot of praise for playing a visually impaired protagonist who is trying hard against all odds to find her sisters killer. She gives a stellar performance as always. Gulshan Devaiah as her husband also delivers a good performance.

The dark ambience, misty mountains and gloomy locales add to the feeling of suspense and horror as the film progresses,leading to a decently delivered climax.

Worth a dekho for ardent afficianado's of the horror- thriller genre . Go for it , you won't be disappointed!!

I'll go with 3/5 for this one .. Adios 🙂!!

Just stay away

I can't believe Ajay Behl has made such a pathetic movie.my only reason to watch this movie was its director who has made movie like section 375. Unrealistic movie in all aspects. I don't understand how one with progressive blindness is living in a big home without any house help . And how characters commit suicide.no one is witness. And every thing is so simple for psycho killer to murder . Director is trying too hard to make it suspenseful movie but unfortunately fails in attempts. Unbearable acting of tapsee makes movie even worst. Devaiya is fantastic actor but has got worst role and dialogue in movie. Please avoid movie.

One's eyes will get blurred of any drowsiness.

I really am not n bothered whether it's a remake or not . But just like *badla* it's well made , albeit the same Spanish writer. But as they say to copy also one needs to be smart .

And there lies the good part .

Mr. Ajay bahl has did the job so fantastically that even if I remained terrified through out but stil couldn't stop watching it !

It may be gory and dark but all the misty environment, hilly setting gives it that spooky feel .

The camerawork is top notch with low lighting , further enhancing the thrill.

Tapsee looks and acts same . Can't really describe her . But the find is abhilash , who is also seen in recently released *faadu* on Sony . His role is less but enacted greatly . A star of the future .

Though I did find some plot elements that could have been better explained.like 1) Her hubby leaves a voice note saying he has an affair . But the killer says , the lady victim loved her !!

2) in the end , a mutilated body with name tag of "Deepak" is shown kept in a wooden box. So the killer had killed the actual nurse and filling in for him ?

3) if he did have done that , how come doctor says that is trustworthy & how come he knew about meds and dosing ?

4) Its told that lady victim had got operated. Did she also took services of the same male nurse as her sister ? Doctor fails to say anything related to it !!

5) If the male nurse accompanied the victim to a hotel n stayed , just a week back , why is no one able to tell anything about his face , height etc ??

6) the killer goes around killing in a hotel , then in a parking lot and is shown very smart .

But later his mother says that he has always been useless and she has to shut him inside for days!? Why so 7) That young girl Ira stays away but only at the end comes with the revelation about the killer! That too when the killer lived in the vicinity .. 8) What really was the problem with the girl , no light shed over it !

9) how come doctor let's the lead leave hospital after eye surgery with fully bandaged eyes , no company also to help !!

10) What exactly was the medical condition with both the sisters ?!

Some acting school project kind of movie

Uh, where to begin? Hammy acting? Unnecessarily dark frames? Unexplained characters? Unrevealed plot? Loose ends? Forgotten plot lines?

If you like random jump scares and mildly intriguing plot and have couple of hours to kill, watch it. Don't expect much though. It was a chore after some time.

Totally wasted Tapasi and no one else get much footage. Jump scares for the sake of having jump scares. Glaring plot holes.

Total bore.

The movie - if you want to call it one, feels like made like an acting course project where all departments people are supposed to chip in. Set designer, "actors", lights, sound and special effects people all have done "something" in this project. For a theatrical release, this would have totally flopped.

Awesome performances and good storyline

It's an amazing attempt to create a thriller which keeps you engage till the ending. Amazing performances by all the actors. It's a 'Do watch' film. Tapsee is no less than any hero and Abhilash did a terrific job to terrify throughout the movie. I don't know why people give 8 rating to a medium film and 5 to a film like this. Please watch the movie if you want to see good performances along with a gripping storyline. The film will amaze you in Many ways. It will engage you till the end. Best wishes to Tapsee and team. Please give us performances like this no matter what! Best wishes to all the actors.

Another remake

The story was too good to be originally coming out of Bollywood and so it was the case with this one too. A Spanish movie remake but most certainly very few from the audience would have seen the original, so it is all and all a good watch for everyone.

It is filled with suspense, a long one, but well directed and executed. Taapsee Pannu continuing with her different kind of role selection and she once again was all in the movie and have very performed yet again. It was just her and the entire movie is with her power performance.

Ajay Bahl, the BA Pass low budget adult movie director, this time coming up with a good one and will surely be marked high.

Do watch over the weekend. Good treat.

Total waste of time

Came to know that it was official remake of Spanish thriller movie Julia's eyes which I hadn't watched so thought of giving it a try with a hope that as it is a copy paste of a foreign movie so should be bearable at least. But from first scene itself, I got a feeling that it may be nothing but a total waste of time.

True to my fears, it kept dragging without making much sense. Police was not interested in any investigation. People themselves were putting their neck in the rope and then fighting to save their lives. How is it possible that no one see the murderer in the hotel? Above all when murderer is revealed, it makes even less sense.

Climax was way worse than anything I have seen recently. It kept on dragging for 30 mins and each and every scene was totally ridiculous. Acting, direction, dialogues there was nothing worth mentioning.

I will try to find and watch Julia's eyes to confirm whether it was actually this pathetic or it's Bollywood' golden touch which is capable of converting gold to dust.

Just stay away from this movie.

Last But Not Least The Performance Of Taapsee Pannu Is Very Good As Excepted From Her & Direction Part By Ajay Bahl Sir Is Unquestionably Wonderful.

A Bad Antagonist Plot

BLURR has done its job in delivering its thriller, drama. This flim could have gotten a much higher rating if they would have worked more on the antagonist(villan)and his back story. His main motive to kill seemed dull plus he was killed too easily. But the actor Abhilash Thapliya acting as the villan has done a fantastic job at keeping the audience out of their seats with his acting as a sociopath even with a screen time of 15 minutes he has been able to deliver his best.

I saw this flim without any spoilers and it was truly a thrilling experience, but the backstory of the antagonist(as i said) was a bit disappointing, it seemed that the end was hurried thus not giving away the satisfying factor.

9 and 10 stars are a lie. Paid maybe.

Let me start by saying that this is a appalling copy of Julia's Eyes realeased in 2010. It's remakes like these that make me wonder why does Bollywood think that we Indian audiences have no international exposure to good movies. No wonder Bollywood is on its last legs as there no more creativity left anymore.

Before I conclude I'd like to leave a message to the producers: next try copying Sleep Tight (Mientras duermes) 2011, since it seems that this is all you can do producing bad imitations of good movies.

I still wonder who are the people that've given 9 or 10 stars? Do they even know that cinema and movies exist out of Bollywood.

The movie lacks logic

The movie starts off alright, but falls flat towards the end. The climax would not have happened if Tapsree's character had not insisted on returning home after being operated on, against doctor's advice; why would any one who cant see return to a place they are not familiar with, especially when there's no one else living there. On top of that, not showing the killer's face after he appears on screen makes it obivious he's the killer.

I have not seen the original Spanish film so cant comment if the above mentioned logical flaw is in the original as well.

This movie is similar to Dobaara, which was disappointing as well.

Boolywood need to learn to adapt movies better if they are remaking international movies, a simple copy & paste of story and screenplay is not sufficent.

My minds gone blur

The movie started as a potentially decent 6+ rated movie. But then with every scene it keeps getting worse. And last 30 mins of the movie are specially painful and you wonder WHO??? And why??? The story could've been so much better with minor changes, all they had to do was spend more time showing all characters throughout the movie and really improve the suspense factor. But no, the makers just forgot about it for the first half of the movie by just focussing on Taapsees screen time and keeping rest of the characters literally blur. Watched too many Taapsi movies recently and her movies and acting feel like a standard template just copied and pasted from one movie to another..... Bad, just bad movie.

Honest Remake - Must Watch!

One of the best films I have seen recently! Engaging plot from the word go. A true psychological thriller. Superb acting by Taapsee Pannu! Abhilash Thapliyal - kahan the bhai! Superb acting! Great sound design and cinematography too. Director Ajay Bahl has shown his magic once again. Love the content and the context! A film for the intelligent viewer with many subtexts which an amateur viewer can easily miss. Don't go by the ratings .. watch and decide for yourself! Looks like some people got paid to give lower ratings. Or perhaps they genuinely don't have taste for good cinema. Only they know! Lol!

Tapsee can only copy! Nothing original

She has become stale, in connected world of internet pannu and anurag are living in lala land. They work on copied scripts like mahesh bhatt used to do in whole of 90s. Nothing original and very poor copy at that. Alas in today's world everyone can just see the original stuff and see what a shoddy work has been done in copying. Had bhatt made movies today none would have worked and he would have made many producers bankrupt. It's not worth time effort and energy. Pannu can't act for anything. She is a lost case these days all her acts have been laid bare in internet and all her projects have failed.

I haven't seen the original. And i can say more than 80% indians haven't considering its a Spanish film , not south film.

The film recived some poor reviews from critics so tuned into this film with low expectations and was so so surprised that it kept me hooked and booked right from start to end. Don't know what critics found bad about this film it was just fine for me.

A lady named Gayathri belives her sister Garima has not committed suicide but was murdered. As she sets out to find the truth, a stalker , probably her sisters murderer follows her here and there. As Gayathri too starts losing her eyesight, will she be able to find the killer? And who is it?

The screenplay is interesting enough to keep you hooked till the end. Lots of interesting events take place that keep you excited about what's coming next. Audience is left guessing as to who the killer is and it won't be the one whom you might think it is.

The setting of this film is done very well. An eerie atmosphere with grey shades and fog in mountain is the perfect setup for a crime thriller. Director Ajay Bahl, the one who have us the 2019 masterpiece Section 375 has successfully made sure this film has the tone set right for us.

The real star of the film is the villian, played by an actor who was earlier seen in a very popular TVF web series and my god was his performance top class. Give that chap more roles please. He's literally transitioned himself from that simple innocent guy in that TVF web series to this terrifying scary pyschopath. Watch the movie to find out who it is (of course ...casting me to dikh hi jayega but still watch it to see his performance).

Tapsee is decent too but nothing new in her performance just fine enough though. Gulshan has a half film screen presence and does a good job.

Overall, a film with no songs no dance no unnecessary romance. It sticks fully to the story and it's a big plus point about this movie. I thoroughly enjoyed the film thanks to screenplay and the villian and sadly i can't agree one bit with critics calling it haphazard and what not.

Another Flop

Movie - Very poorly adapted from the original version, yet again. Dark gloomy setting and the sets looked like from the 60s. Bad cinematography. Poorly done over all. Any ratings above 3 is fake and paid for. Too many mistakes and forced situations. Full of loopholes.

Acting 1. Tapsee Pannu - Another insipid act. She has two skills - Keep walking thru the movie at a very fast pace and have a frown (Sadu look) on the face thru the movie. This "Method" acting is getting to the nerves now. Wonder why she keeps getting roles.

2. The killer did a reasonable job despite being seemingly new.

3. Gulshan Devaiah was wasted.

Taapsee Pannu & ZEE5 Deliver Another Flop Remake.

Blurr (2022) : Movie Review -

ZEE5's latest film, Blurr, sees Taapsee Pannu in the double role of a blind woman. Directed by Ajay Bahl, Blurr is an official Hindi remake of the Spanish thriller Julia's Eyes (2010). To start with, Guillem Morales's thriller itself isn't flawless or a great film; I don't know why Ajay Bahl decided to remake this film. The film struggles in its own blind world that we just can't see and enjoy. Today's audience doesn't have a problem with complex theories, but they have to make some sense and should be well versed in all the logic. Blurr is pretty blurry in that sense. Taapsee Pannu chose the wrong film to debut as a producer, but her decision to dump it on OTT was right. In theatres, it would have struggled to see even 10 people coming in for the show.

The film is about twin sisters, Gayatri and Gautami (both played by Taapsee Pannu), who have a degenerative disease that causes blindness. The film starts off with the death of one of the sisters, while the other one starts looking for the reasons behind her death. Many secrets are revealed during this search, while some are shocking for the female protagonist too. The twisty ride continues with plenty of turnarounds and doesn't stop the flow till the end appears on the screen.

The screenplay of Blurr is highly disengaging and tedious. Blurr is a complete copy-paste of Julia's Eyes, except for a slightly different twist in the climax that introduces you to the antagonist. From the very first minute of the film, it does not hit the overall atmosphere as it is too dark and uncomfortable to watch. Then you realise that you will have to watch it for the next 2 hours. OTT gives you the option of fast forwarding, so it'll help you a lot. Even after so many forward pushes, you'll still find it a boring affair. Yes, it is that dry. The writers are at fault for writing this kind of soulless screenplay that neither interests you nor makes you feel connected to any of the characters.

Taapsee Pannu is a super-fine performer, but it is high time for her to choose her projects carefully. She is not being repetitive with her choices of roles, but her choices of films are definitely dull. Thappad, Haseen Dillruba, Rashmi Rocket, Looop Lapeta, Shabaash Mithu, Dobaaraa, and now Blurr-something is seriously wrong. Blurr gives her a chance to showcase the horror-driven dark side, and she does that, but she fails to crack the versatility codes. Interestingly, Taapsee Pannu shot part of the movie blindfolded to get the character right; I salute her dedication. Both sisters look so similar when we have been told that they have different characteristics. Who's to blame for that? Of course, the actor. Abhilash Thapliyal is surprisingly good, while Gulshan Devaiah is surprisingly disappointing. Babita Anant and Sorabh Chauhan do nothing to get your attention.

Technically, Blurr could have been a lot better given the circumstances, but it squandered the opportunity. See that climax sequence, which is shot in a dark room and displays characters only with the flash of the camera. That scene was looking so creative, but then suddenly you realise that they are using lightning too, which is highly unacceptable. There are plenty of mistakes in the cinematography, editing, and sound design too. Ajay Bahl has overlooked everything he saw on the monitor, I guess. Blurr deserved a better vision. You can't see a challenging topic like that getting lost in darkness due to poor lighting by the filmmaker. As a whole, Taapsee and ZEE5 both need to think about their ongoing trend and change it for their own good. This one is nothing but just another Flop show by them.

Remake of any good movie is a must for audiences who gets to watch in their known language but simultaneously it should be made in a desired manner

The movie does not properly offers horror or thriller or a dark concept..Tapsee has acted very normal and it's her bad phase as in a row this was her third flop..prosthetics in this movie we're very bad and some scenes they tried to make it dark but they failed..climax was totally different from the running story and totally baseless

Viewers on OTT wants new content but with a good make

Its just awesome. So far one of the best movie in Bollywood in Crime thriller series. Cinematography is so amazing and mesmerizing with an excellent story.. You will love it. Please see it and give your honest review.

Exactly will feel like Hollywood. The director has so realistically expressed all the scenes. Please hold your sit and watch till end to understand the zeal.

Tapsee Pannu has acted superb alongwith Abhilash. Concept though is inspired from a book, it reveals the story of a psychopath in a lucrative manner.

So, dont judge a book by its cover. The scenes are well depicted and interestingly arranged to clip your incitements.

Predictable flop

Casting - Tapsee nailed the role as blind women. Abhilash as a Deepak Joshi has given the na bitting moment's. Gulshan devaiah has minimal role to play but did his best in it.

BGM - Background score is quite thrilling and engaging. A Plus point there's no song in between that ruins your mood. A very terrified background gives you thrill to experience adrenaline but due to predictability with whats going to happen next ruins your mood Direction - Quite okay with the DOP.

Story - story was quite enough good but execution was not upto the mark. Duration was decent but they can extend the story if they want to buy more time to create more thrill of it but they failed as.

Tapsee nailed it..

If you have watched the original one then I would recommend you to skip this one. If you are watching it for first time then you are going it enjoy it. This is one of the best thriller film where tapsee has given all her best. This film keeps you on the edge for many moments. I thought this is the horror film or i was expecting it to be.its just a crime thriller movie. If you like it then please say thanks to orginal one.
