Wow
evasmum17 March 2023
Not normally a 'binger' - but wow! I've stopped at episode four because I'm really tired - but this show is wonderful. Unlike other streaming shows that hook you in for the the first two episodes and then pad and pad until the finale - every episode so far has progressed the storyline. The acting is fantastic, the storyline is out there (but also relatable), the direction is spot on, and the moments when the realization of what has happened around them... I cannot wait to finish this series. I've heard it called 'Lord of the Flies' with private school women - but that's dismissive of how truly well thought out, and well written this show is. Just love it.

Excellent australian comedy drama
luanfriburgo199117 March 2023
An excellent character study with good comedy moments. Great quality actresses interpreting a very good script.

A positive point is that the series knows how to explore the gray areas of all the characters, nobody is totally good or totally bad, which gives an air of maturity to the show.

The performances are very good, the characters are charismatic and none of them are boring.

The soundtrack features good alternative versions of famous songs.

The theme of the end of the world is secondary, just an excuse to keep these characters confined having to interact with each other.

Basically a comedy drama.

Sorry for bad english, I m writing from Brazil and loved this show which I have watched on a single day today.

I Liked It. Fun To Watch and Good Binge-Watching
Tv-Addict199119 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Well , whats to say , i liked it !

Emily Browning shines as the Main - Character, Megan Smart also was awesome in the Role . The Cast is Good and there are different kind of Characters , wich is a good thing

I Really didn´t know what i expected from the Show, if its more serious or more Satire-like with Comedy-Elements....turns out the second one was the Case

I Can Imagine that there will be a second Season but also that this Second Season will be The Final Season

Fun - Sometimes disturbing and disgusting - part Emotional.....

I Hadn´t had any expectations watching this and was entertained by it (:

Like i Said, Hope for a Second Season wich could also serve as a Final Season, i do not think that this is a Show for like 4-5 Seasons ....

Greetings From Germany.

It is a comedy after all
reece-duffus21 March 2023
Don't take this as an apocalyptic survival guide, which some of the reviews are basing it upon. It's a well written comedy, which incorporates topics that are relevant to modern day. It's not trying to be offer a therapy session for the emotional moments, but more a lighthearted touch on issues some people face but in a comedic way.

It is not a series about real to life survival, and what to do in an apocalypse, it makes jokes on a group of ladies trying to survive whilst not taking itself seriously. You can tell the cast enjoyed filming and it makes it even more entertaining.

If you want a laugh, and to see a group make fun of living at the end of the world, then give it a go.

"Save us from ourselves"
sarahmattina18 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I started watching for Emily Browning and stayed to see what triumphs and tragedies would occur. I'm actually not surprised that these women played out their adolescent insecurities as it's only been 15 years which really is not that long and man, their bully was a real doozy. And a few of them did suffer real bonafide issues while at school together and after so their behaviour was understandable.

The first several episodes were very typical of any post apocalypse survival show, then there was the reconciliation, character redemption, okey dokey. But the final couple episodes were just plain terrible and disgusting which was a little disappointing.

Still, I watched it all in one evening so it was watchable with nice bite sized episodes.

Funniest/most original show I've watched in who knows how long!
sarah-5679619 March 2023
Honestly, this show Is the funniest and most original series I've seen in ages. When I tell you it is nothing like I expected, oh my god. I genuinely can't remember the last time a show or movie made me laugh so hard that I couldn't breathe through my painfully silent tummy-rupturing laughter. In a time where everything is so serious and we see nothing but bad news every time we turn on the TV, this show is an absolute gem and diamond in the rough and light at the end of that negativity tunnel. I cannot wait to see what these actors and creators go on to make this show - or any other show for that matter. I really hope that this show and it's amazing cast wins ALL the awards! If there was more than 10 stars, I would give it.

A potential hilarious let down
lallie1303519 March 2023
I literally saw the trailer for the show the day it air and the trailer had me laughing so hard I could not wait to get home from work and watch it. First episode started off awesome, and then occasional chuckles and then just stupid school drama. What about the apocalypse? Where's the humor? Where is the fight for survival without mean girls? I was really really hoping this was gonna be a trial and error hilarious fight for survival but it's basically a highschool drama with water. Very sad and disappointed, I really wanted another show that had me rolling and I only got that from the trailer everything else was a disappointment, slow moving, and annoying typical mean girl high school drama crap that's very unoriginal.

Hilarious!
matta967818 March 2023
Hilarious female led comedy with instantly quotable moments and a ridiculously good all-Aussie cast. I had no idea what to expect when I saw this advertised and holy cow was it a fun ride.

Class of '07 kept us laughing through the apocalypse, helped along by a sharp script, generous plot and backstories, and great performances by new and seasoned performers. Watching the women regress to their high school selves in the face of the 'poco' is great in and of itself, but Class of '07 says and delivers so much more. The multi-layered commentary on lifelong friendships, female relationships and the enduring impact of school/teen years are woven together seamlessly atop laugh out loud slapstick moments.

Completely original, unpredictable and left me wanting a whole lot more. Bring on season two of the 'poco.

Good show that's a bit confused
chandu-bandaru629420 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The show is entertaining and original enough to be fun. But it often feels like it doesn't know how serious it wants to take its serious elements.

Potentially the world is drowned, or atleast a large part of Australia where they seem to be. Yet the characters behave like they're merely stuck on an island and the world's fine? If you're doing a comedy then there are ways to address it in silly ways. (Think of Kevin Hart freaking out in any movie of his.)

But the show doesn't want to be as silly while being a comedy. It wants to be emotional and supportive too.

While I'm glad it didn't go full Ghost Busters in terms of silliness the show still feels inconsistent in it's tone.

Mainly because all the characters act as if they have nothing to lose out there in the world. (They even Kayak only once to see if anything's out there. No raft? No long distance voyage? Nothing?)

It's still comedy, funny and well made. Overall good.

A breath of fresh air- an impressive 'poco show!
matlock-7439924 March 2023
Wow - could this really be? A familiar plot but completely original quirky fun series? I enjoyed every episode of this new Prime video offering- especially after I realized it wasn't just another run of the mill apocalypse show. I'm not sure how it got made in todays landscape of remakes, reboots and regurgitated ideas but I'm so happy it did! I really hope it gets enough streams to warrant a second series at Amazon. I don't want to spoil anything so I'll just quickly say (in 350 characters or more) that the general description given when I first looked it up had me very dismissive of it as a whole but I'm glad I didn't let that stop me from giving it a go. So you should give it a shot- you might just find yourself laughing and enjoying the ride- especially if you like your comedy with a pinch of dark humor mixed in; also the soundtrack is a great nostalgia boost- sadly no FloRida though. I do wish Amazon would promote it a bit more. I believe I've met the requirement for enough words to be able to post my review (not a fan of that) any who 10/10 Give it a go- enjoy the show!

You learn something new every day
slimvader20 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Oh, don't get me wrong, there's nothing to learn from the plot of this show in general, just that the characters of a show don't need to be decent for the story to be interesting.

Seriously, not one single character has one single redeemable feature. Every single one is a terrible person. Imagine a TV series where every character is a slightly worse version of Rebel Wilson's character from Pitch Perfect.

For the first time ever, I finished binging a show solely based upon the plot. Admittedly, it took me about two or three episodes to realise that every character was a terrible person. Phoebe, Sasika and the American one (not really worth remembering the name) are probably the worst of the lot, even if one of them was absent for a few episodes.

Story-wise, it's a four star show. But having Caitlyn Stasey and Emily Browning in the cast added two more stars.

If you watch it, don't expect to finish it liking any of the characters themselves.

A good start, but then a tumble downhill
minxiepinx17 March 2023
First episode was really good, but as the show went on it gradually did what I hoped it wouldn't: all the characters went back to what they were like in high school. Not only is this unrealistic, my big problem with this is it's unoriginal and predictable.

I'm only on episodic 3 and I'm ready to quit. This had potential, but they seem to have squandered it. Some fantastic actors are in this shown and they're wasted.

I'm going to keep going for another episode or two (if I can stomach it, thankfully they're short) and if it improves I'll happily delete this review and give a better rating - but I can't really seen that happening unfortunately.

Fun & Engaging
AE_7723 March 2023
I found the series entertaining to watch. Yes it's a little silly, but it's not trying to be anything else. Plus I love that it is an Aussie production.

The episodes aren't too long, there's enough humour vs drama. It's interesting to see all the scenarios play out as the ladies navigate survival, their friendships and the trauma of the situation they all have found themselves in.

It encourages you to image how you would fit into this situation had you the unfortunate displeasure of being in their position. Would you be a leader, a follower, or a disruptor. Would you fall apart and be useless to the group? What kind of survival techniques do you actual posses that could be helpful? Would you turn on the group and go feral?

Highly enjoyable and riveting
music-5649917 March 2023
Great acting by Emily Browning and Caitlin Stacey, plus the rest of the cast as well.

I got hooked in strongly in the first episode with a few opening scenes and the premise was very clear and apparent straight away which was great. I love that this show is t all about love and sex, the characters are each Dyna.ic and we learn about the characters and their lives little by little which adds much appreciated substance and mystery to the narrative and storylines.

This show isn't slow paced and has kept me on the edge of my seat, often shocked at the drama occurring. The some gross scenes etc go a bit too far imo but the storyline is good, acting and effects are good too. Great premise for a drama, sad it's only 8 episodes, hoping for more episodes and more seasons, hoping they come soon.

Was very excited, but let me down
ari_ela419 March 2023
I absolutely loved the premise. All women cast, stranded, post apocalypse, and being stuck with all the people from your past. But most of the characters were pretty unlikable, some of the actresses completely over acted, and the storylines weren't great. Also being a woman that loves women, was hoping and expecting a woman loving woman storyline. But we got apsolutely none of that. It was all just highschool friendships and enemies which was a little boring to have every storyline focused on that. I wanted a bit more spice. Also not personally a huge fan of the poop crude jokes.

Overall quite disappointing.

Once you start watching, you won't stop
sccrfn21 March 2023
This is a truly binge worthy show. The unique cast of characters and the plot twists keep you wanting more. Streaming series have been so slow and cringe lately so it's refreshing to see such a well-made series that has just the right amount of pace and comedy. While there are some awkward moments, you can overlook them quickly as the storyline progresses quickly. And yes, the fact that the ladies are stranded on an island is unrealistic, but it doesn't matter because the show isn't meant to be taken seriously. In fact, that's the fun part about the show. It's just fun and that's the point. Just let yourself be entertained.

Binge-Worthy and at times brilliant
JLock_DE10 April 2023
I agree with the majority of positive reviews about the series. It strikes an excellent balance between lighthearted and emotional moments throughout.

What stood out to me was how the series skillfully avoided getting stuck on one particular path, and instead changed the premise several times. As a result, no subplot overstayed its welcome. I won't go into detail to avoid spoilers.

The last two episodes were slightly too chaotic and goofy compared to the earlier episodes. Some of the protagonists acted out of character, and their interactions were not as strong as they could have been. It felt like the writers had to move the overarching story forward, which was necessary to set up the series for another season.

Overall, the series was still highly enjoyable, and I would recommend it.

Lord of the flies but make it Aussie and silly

Didn't know what I was in for but definitely had some good cheeky Aussie humour, touched on some some emotional topics in between the silliness and dug in deep into trauma a lot of young women go through in their formative years and how they deal with it in their developing adulthood. Yes it's a bit silly, goofy and ridiculous most of the time and sure isn't what would be considered a cinematic masterpiece but it is a bit of enjoyable fun. Good development of quite a bit of the cast and good to see some recognisable faces take on more comedic roles.

Immature and trying too hard
huey208822 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
There are some good themes - friendship, bullying, depression in this series that should have gotten more in depth story telling over the eight episodes. But the writers ruined the important substance by inserting mind-boggling slap stick humour here and there, some scenes lasting less than three minutes that had nothing to do with the previous. Tegan (Van Riel) and Meghan (Nguyen) are the two comedy relief providers who drinks, gets high and acts badly, really bad that they're irritating.

And they're not the only ones. All of these women are petty, vindictive and downright nasty that they make the children in Lord of the Flies look like saints. The biggest mean girl, Saskia (Stacey) reveals the reason she made the other girl's high school experience hell was because she had been groomed by a male teacher whom she'd mistaken was in love with her but had been grooming other students behind her back. An effigy of the teacher is made and burnt to symbolise the women overcoming the neverending misogyny making their life miserable.

This scene is not the only men-hating sideswipe the writers have included. But the irony is that in showing these women still holding grudges dating back a decade and in the absence of men in their apocalyptic world, how awful they treat each other is not the helpful feminist message they're planning to send out. The scene where Saskia and Genevieve (Lovering) at the prom, Genevieve suddenly seething at Saskia even though in an earlier moving episode, they had reconciled for past wrongdoings. Such pettiness or more like the uneven, terrible writing made the series hard to like.

The soundtrack is also annoying. Music thrown in one after another like it's MTV to emphasise scenes, even as background in touching moments of friendship. And if you survive that, there's the amount of swearing that supports the stereotype that Australians swear a lot.

Take it as a comedy, leave your brain at the door when watching this. That's the only way to survive this pocko series that tries too hard to all that's been done. They even borrowed the hilarious Bridesmaids bridal boutique scene just to get a few laughs.

4 stars for Browning, Smart, Stacey and Lawrence who at times must have felt ridiculous acting out the immature, self absorbed characters.

100% recommend!
n1010_k21 March 2023
Great show, binged it in 1 day. Mixture of comedy and seriousness, and best of all set in one place.

Most of the cast are recognisable from both US and Australian TV shows and films. (Although I think most, if not all are Australian actors).

The only regret I have is watching this show too fast - there are only 8 episodes.

TIP: Pace yourself!

Hopefully there's another season, as there's definitely enough material to keep it going!

highschool reunion version of LOST with good ending
ellsmellipad2 April 2023
If you like romcoms, dramas and apocalyptic storylines, you will love this! Has depth and layering at the same time as being comedically light, plus the ending leaves room for another series; can't wait for next one!:))

I also like that they have completely fresh actors in it. Based around classic highschool girl politics, it's intelligent in the sense that there's a part of every single character that is relatable and it suggests how people can change when thrown in life threatening situations. It's even more relatable because it highlights the fact that there's a lot from highschool that never really leaves us and how we allow it to control our decisions later on in life.

Really funny at times and worth the watch
brewerroy22 March 2023
I watched the complete first season over three days, it was definitely worth it, I don't think I've seen an Australian comedy/drama this good in quite some time.

The are some really great heartfelt moments here that got me right in the feels. Then there are some actual laugh out loud moments throughout as well.

I particularly loved all the flashbacks to their school life and it just made the characters so much better for it.

This is possibly one of the best takes on the post apocalyptic genre I have seen in ages.

I love all the actors and their performances and really hope to see a season 2.

Funny and original!
irishonthecoast5 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Wow! I was shocked, and didn't think it was gonna be this good! Dudes, it's the funniest show, casted beautifully, and it's dripping all over the floor with originality! I laughed a lot, I yelled a few times in solidarity, I also cried once (as I too have had a big toe wrongfully chopped off with a 15" paper guillotine) and I want more, lots more of this show! This show has it all: great writing, believable acting, set and directing experience, and the cast members are easy on the eyes. Who am I kidding? I loved everything and my sides hurt from laughing so much! I want to be stranded on this island with them! Been waiting for a show like this. It beats OITNB, fight me.

Best class reunion ever
TheTruthofItIs29 April 2023
"Class of '07" (S01, 8 eps, 30-min, Amzn) is a hilariously entertaining look at a small girls' school 10th year class reunion that turns out like no other. A biblical-scale flood strands the girls to their school grounds surrounded by water out to the horizon and it's not subsiding, this is a long-term flood. What ensues is everything you could imagine with 27yo women who still feel the social pains of 17yo girls. Old rivalries, scores to settle, resentments, betrayals, lying, scheming, oh yeh, it's all there in a fun to watch train wreck of retro-teen anxiety. And like Gilligan's Island, their situation is ripe for so many storylines: are others elsewhere still alive? Who or what could wash ashore at any time? What of escaping their atoll by watercraft? Once again, such a good show cut short by a stupidly short 8 ep season. Amazon should lead the way in returning to 20+ ep commitments because shows like this warrant it. But now we once again have to wait a year or more for a second season if it's even granted, ugh, I hate this element of the streaming era we're presently stuck in.

I couldn't make it through episode 1
jones-han27 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I couldn't make it through episode 1 (5 minutes shy). The acting is pretty terrible, the script more-so. It's cringey and unrealistic and I don't get the silly humour.

The last straw for me was when the lead character says she told everyone about the natural disaster (which she did) and they're all shouting over her and mad at her for not telling them. But she DID tell them. And her former best friend is like, "Yeah you should've told us," even though in a prior conversation she referred to what the lead had said, meaning she HAD heard her telling them. If that makes sense. Basically they're all idiots who didn't even listen when the lead came running in saying there was a natural disaster, and now they're all mad at her and telling her off for not telling them. It's just too excruciating and unbearable for me to watch. I can't take it any more. There's just too much yelling and screaming over the top of each other. Pardon the saying but it makes me want to blow my brains out.

If this is what a group of women is like in the real world, I'd rather be stranded with a group of men during the Apocalypse.
