Image
New casting information has just been revealed for the Prison Break offshoot that's in the works at Hulu. The project has a pilot that's currently being put into development, though the reboot hasn't yet been officially ordered to series.

Per Variety, the new Prison Break pilot has cast Emily Browning (American Gods), Lukas Gage (Dead Boy Detectives), and Drake Rodger (Landman) in major roles. While the show is set in the same universe as the original Prison Break, it was expected that it would follow a new cast of characters, and these additions mark the first names to be attached to the project. It's not yet clear if any original Prison Break actors will be making special appearances, but more casting information is likely to soon be released with actors starting to sign on for the pilot.

‘Prison Break’ Reboot Pilot Casts Emily Browning, Lukas Gage, Drake Rodger
Image
The “Prison Break” reboot pilot at Hulu has added three series regulars, Variety has learned.

Emily Browning, Lukas Gage, and Drake Rodger have all been cast in leading roles in the pilot, which was originally announced in December. As previously reported, the pilot is set in the same world as the original “Prison Break” but will tell a new story with new characters. Exact plot details are being kept locked up.

Browning stars as Cassidy Collins, described as “an ex-soldier turned corrections officer takes a job at one of the deadliest prisons in America.” Gage will play Jackson in the pilot, said to be “a politician from a well-to-do background in his first congressional campaign.” And Rodger will play Tommy, “an inmate at one of the deadliest prisons in America, incarcerated ten years ago.”

Browning has recently starred in shows like “Class of ’07” at FX, “The Affair” at Showtime,...

Emily Browning, Lukas Gage & Drake Rodger Set As Series Regulars In Hulu’s ‘Prison Break’ Pilot
Image
Hulu and 20th Television’s Prison Break pilot from Elgin James is coming together as Emily Browning, Lukas Gage and Drake Rodger have been set as series regulars.

As we previously reported, James’ version will be its own thing and set within the same universe as the original Fox series of the same name from Paul Scheuring. This new project is not expected to involve the characters at the center of the Og project, Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller), and Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell). The spinoff project was first revealed to be in development in late 2023 and was picked up to pilot in December.

While the plot of James’ version is under wraps, the trio’s character descriptions give a little insight.

Browning will portray “Cassidy Collins,” an ex-soldier turned corrections officer who takes a...

This Australian Survival Dramedy Is Better Than Yellowjackets
Image
Prime Video's Class of '07 offers a unique spin on the survival subgenre by juxtaposing a Waterworld-esque post-apocalyptic against the equally grueling feat of spending one's foundational years at a Catholic girls' school. But unlike other survival dramas such as Yellowjackets and The Last of Us, Class of '07 has flown under the radar. It's a shame, because the Prime Video series is as good as Showtime's critically acclaimed thriller.

Female-led interpretations of a Lord of the Flies narrative are having a pop culture moment, and Class of '07 both retreads aspects that have caused shows like Yellowjackets to resonate with viewers and carves out a distinct place of its own. Yellowjackets fanatics are sure to devour the series' similarly unhinged ensemble -- even though the '07 graduates have yet to commit an act of cannibalism.

This Quirky Female-Led Crime Series Should Be Your Next Prime Video Binge
Image
Between Heartbreak High and Class of ’07, Australia has been churning out comedic TV shows with female-fronted casts that deal with serious issues for the past year. Amazon Prime's Deadloch takes its place among these predecessors with its exaggerated characters and a uniquely Australian tone. But more importantly, it delves into gender and racial politics, as well as the evolving attitudes towards them. Hosting a widely diverse cast and ridiculous character archetypes, the show’s witty but definitely raunchy lines and comical gems are what brings it to life. Although the plot can become shaky at times, with multiple redundant revelations and constant plot twists, it really does keep you guessing until the end.

Freeridge (2023)
Fanatic Feed: On My Block Spinoff Canceled, Pete Davidson Returns to SNL as Host, & More!
Freeridge (2023)
Here is a wrap-up of all the news you need to know from Thursday, April 4, 2023.

Netflix is not moving forward with Freeridge Season 2.

The On My Block spinoff launched on the streaming service in February but failed to get much traction.

The original series aired from 2018-21 and racked up impressive viewership for the service, so it's surprising the latest entry failed to resonate.

Freeridge was "a coming-of-age comedy following sibling rivals Gloria and Ines and their friends Demi and Cameron who have unleashed a curse bringing dark misfortune into their lives."

Pete Davidson is staging a comeback to Saturday Night Live, but it will be a one-time-only deal.

The SNL alum is set to host the May 6, 2023, installment of the veteran sketch show.

Davidson joined the show in 2014 and departed in May 2022.

"SNL is my home. I'm so happy and sad about tonight's show. For so many reasons I can't explain,...

Everything Coming to Prime Video in March 2023
Image
March is still winter, no matter which animal you ask, which means it’s still completely acceptable to cancel all plans and curl up under a blanket in front of the TV. Prime Video’s movie library updates throughout the month, with most of its new additions on March 1 — including the “Rocky” saga, multiple “Carrie” adaptations, “12 Angry Men,” and more.

For Prime users who love books and TV, March means the highly-anticipated premiere of “Daisy Jones & the Six,” based on the best-selling novel by Taylor Jenkins Reid. The eponymous Daisy (Riley Keough) and Billy Dunne’s band (Sam Claflin) make a mean match, starting with a hit single and leading to what seems like endless fame and glory. But where there is success there is peril, and both the band’s rise and an electric connection with Daisy threaten Billy’s marriage and everyone’s personal lives. James Ponsoldt,...

Amazon Expands Foray Into Sports Streaming in Australia, Adds Celebrity Touch (Exclusive)
Image
Amazon’s Prime Video platform will broadcast the Australian Swimming Championships, in Adelaide next month, as part of a two-year deal with Swimming Australia. The company will use a roster of celebrity commentators to give a high profile to its continuing foray into the sports sector.

The deal with Swimming Australia is the first partnership Amazon has had in Australia for sports, other than sports documentaries.

The streaming giant has a patchwork of sportscasting in other territories – in India, for example it currently has a mixture women’s basketball and some cricket, having previously carried major tennis tournaments and English soccer. It finds itself in competition with incumbent free-tv channels, pay-tv operators for which live sports is a lifeblood, and a growing number of specialist sports streamers.

“Following the successful 2021 Australian Swimming broadcast, we’re excited to again partner with Swimming Australia to bring the 2022 Swimming Championships to sports fans...
