An ingenuine romantic comedy set in the backdrop of London....
SumanShakya24 April 2023
A woman ditched by her husband in London opts for a fake marriage to return her country ultimately falling for him. This is the plot of this simple romantic comedy, which somewhat reminded me of Kangana Ranaut's "Queen." Perhaps it's one of the most underrated movies of the recent time, which has surprisgly garnered a low rating in imdb.

Believe me, it's not a kind of larger than life movie which will set history; but it's still an enjoyable film without a second of boredom, just like the light Hollywood entertainers "My Fat Greek Wedding" or "Nurse Betty." The non star cast gives a feeling of a TV movie but is nevertheless refreshing. The greatest virtue of the film is the refreshing camerawork and sound which superbly depicts the cityscape of modern London, for which I wished I had watched in it a theatre.

Rating: 2 stars out of 4.

Good concept but
smile-185-83347021 August 2023
I'm currently watching this on Netflix and while the base concept it great and the lead actress- the actor playing Bilal is just terrible! I'm not sure what's worse- his over the top hair, the inconsistent British accent that obviously switches to huge Indian accent or the general over acting?

Having said that I'm still enjoying this and hope to see more from this director & writing team and the lead actress cast- she has such a Nargis Fakri vibe but with better acting!! Ha!

On a separate note the look/ feel of this movie with use of natural lighting and soft colour colour grading is a welcome change to the sea of psychedelic Karan Johar colours occupying Bollywood right now.

There's stuff here to really like
awholenewlife26 June 2023
I thought there was a lot wrong with this film from the standpoint of the filmmaking - a lot of bad lighting, continuity errors, the irritating left to right camera angles and some places in the plot line that simply made no sense - but that said, I also found a great deal to appreciate.

The leads, Harshvardhan Rane and Sonia Rathee, were most engaging and the talented supporting actors added a lot of texture to what would otherwise have been a very ordinary tale. The established relationships that underpinned the eventual outcome were sensitively portrayed. I especially liked the Khan women and the friendship that existed between Bilal and Jiggy, two very different men. Raheem Mir as Ritz deserves a nod here too.

As a great fan of Indian romantic films, I had a delightful evening watching this one.

7See reality NRI UK, little -ve so reviews misleading
dr_hgj-4823115 March 2023
Web scam Matrmonials victim Sonia Rathi struggles to get firm in London. Harshvardhan (Telugu) is having mom and ants and inherited Hotel. They meet in adverse situation and the love story displayed. Use of Melodrama aunts pressures and comics are enjoyable. So is Gay Phenomena, scam to marry in eyes of elders for fake marriage, irritable family atmosphere and their hypocracy exploited with comedy and love too! No known big star many NRI now so their culture is shown with commanding authority. Story does have some Melodrama every where with light touch of humour, reality. For hero they have eye wetting memories we'll exploited. Such a brat is in real totality manages this family culture. Characters are deliberately chosen of all possible combine so communal Angle doesn't appear at all. Those who didn't like I object their very low ratings. Are we for SK,KJ s kind expansive marketable fairytales only? Check those peoples rating on Masala Films, will uncover their Bias.

The main leads are ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
aroraabhishek-4016426 December 2022
Don't know why this movie has lower rating. I absolutely loved it. Such clever dialogues and wicked rumour is what I liked the most.

I don't even know the name of the main lead but I absolutely loved the guys acting. Even the girl did an awesome job.

Kudos to such movies. We need more movies like this. Netflix is a great platform for such movie and I genuinely hope this movie does better and the rating goes better here on from here.

The side actors also have done great job. It's a movie where by the end it will leave a smile on your face and you will have a good sleep.

Loved every bit of this movie! Cheers.

Truly Pathetic.
jijo-sonicforce24 December 2022
Man, that was a snoozefest. The sheer predictability of the story brings the whole thing down. We have seen this exact same feature played out so many times in the past.

A marriage of convenience turning into love is one of the tropes Bollywood should completely avoid. The person playing Bilal has a flat dialogue delivery with over enunciation of each word, making it very non engaging. Actor playing Tara gives a rather uneven performance.

The aunties and elders in the movie have tried to lift it but with the storyline visible from a mile away, it makes the journey all the more worthless. Also it would be great to explore a Muslim girl's interactions with a Hindu boy's family may be, because this Muslim boy and Hindu Girl has been done many times before.

Not impressed by the characters, story and a very amateurish direction. 2.5/10.

People outside of India will appreciate this gem
aounhoilay227 December 2022
I hardly write any reviews but truly a feel good movie and great acting all around. Had such a great day after watching this movie and promoting the film to friends and family.

Watch this movie for what it is. People spend time and effort making a movie. And then there are who critise in few mins without thinking it's not like they can make a better one.

It's not a race for the oscars here. Please sit down and actually watch the movie and enjoy the little things in life.

The direction and acting are spot on. Great storyline, even though you'd think it's been done before but for me it hit hard and I thoroughly enjoyed this movie.

New low for Hindi romance cinema
R0biSh0bi7 January 2023
The whole Bilal character was weird and a bit creepy. The story line is boring, don't waste your time and money. The attempt by Hindi cinema to constantly perpetuate this type of story line is both condescending and embarrassing. The same types of characters, same plot, same genre, poor acting and nothing that appeals to Indians or Hindi speakers. I went to the cinema thinking this might be something different but its the same old junk that needs to go. I should have researched the director and actors who themselves do not have the best track record with decent movies. Save yourself some money.

Way better than Jug Jugg Jeeyo!
meirasuri-7310910 February 2023
This movie is cute and makes you smile and laugh at many instances! Acting from the main and supporting cast is brilliant. I am glad I ignored the average ratings and negative reviews and watched this rom-com. Some of the scenes halt the flow in the movie but like a river over rocks, this movie manages to reach the ocean eventually!

This movie is no A-list bumper (like the one in my title) but goes on to prove yet again that star tags will never triumph over good acting and storyline.

Harshvardhan Rane after Sanam Teri Kasam, manages to charm the audience yet again. Sonia Rathee's 'Tara' is a scene-stealer.

Only Tara
sameerlodaya5 January 2023
Sameer lodaya..

The movie is all about Tara and only she is worth watching....

Sonia rathee was phenomenal as a heroine and played great also was a delight to see her but Harshvardhan has awe fully overacted..the other actors were also very loud.....

The movie missed the strong emotions of a love story...good songs were also not there...story was totally predictable and humour was also absent....only good thing was the locations atleast you get a overseas tour virtually

Purely a OTT watch but there also now a days we can find good unique content..after freedy nothing good has come on OTT or theatres....

This is the bollywood what we want.
angelbordoloi11 November 2022
Movie has a very good story. Great acting by Harshvardhan Rane and Sonia Rathee. Epic music. Amazing love story of an NRI and a desi girl. Lovely performance by the supporting characters as well 👏. Everything is perfectly balanced. A good masala mix. I found everything great. Just the cinematography could've more better. Otherwise I loved the film. Rane did an outstanding job. Sonia being a newbie has killed it. Both of them are much more talented than those star kids who are by products of nepotism. I would love to see more content like this from bollywood. Hats off to John Abraham for making an effort to present such a movie from bollywood.

Worst movie I have ever watched
adisirkek17 June 2023
This is the worst movie I have ever watched. It should be banned to make such illogical and worth less movie.

Random incidents in the movie with pathetic story, direction and screenplay. Furthermore, the movie has random plots that start out of nowhere and then the director forgets about it.

If the producer had so much money he should have invested or donated it rather than making this pathetic, worthless movie, which is like the biggest question to the makers intellectual thinking

I would highly recommend this movie for working people who want to headache and call in sick from office the next day.

Warning: Spoilers
This movie was absolutely horrendous. The acting was so horrible that it was comical. The Bilal character's acting was so overly dramatic to a point where you couldn't help but laugh, like what are you doing!?! There is just too much going on in the movie. Between the strange brothel-esque drag queens, the fathers suicide, the crazy abusive ex-husband, the aunties' stories...and so much more. They were just trying to squeeze as many intense storylines into one movie and it did not work. This movie was trying to fit into so many genres that it just got lost. I would absolutely not recommend this movie to anyone. Would love to see the Indian movie world to bring truly fresh, original, content and not the over played storylines, dramatic acting, and unnecessarily long song/dance segments. Just try something new!

VERY HONEST
soneerani2 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I stopped watching Bollywood movies purely because its the same storyline terrorism mostly India Pakistan or a unrealistic love story. I.only watched this because it was shot in England. I was pleasantly surprised at how accurate this movie was. The fact that the director showed a realistic setting in England on how normal South Asian live in England was lovely to watch. Normal houses that South Asians have in London not unrealistic mansions which Karan Johar likes to portrait. Or a massive religious corner in those mansions again not realistic at all. The fact that everyone had Normal jobs be it doctor dancer hotel owners or waitresses was also lovely to see. And homesexuality was also present too with grace.

A very big issue was also spoken about on how men go on dating apps and cheat innocent women which has become the norm recently aswell as domestic abuse, aswell as suicide which is also a big issue I'm England and India.

An all-rounder.

Fantastic acting by all cast 👏 a must watch.

Great romcom
deeptibhudia26 December 2022
I really enjoyed watching this movie. Such a light hearted romcom. Great chemistry between Rane and Rathee. I think Harshvardhan is an underrated actor, he is so good, he deserves more recognition. I was impressed with the British accent, he did it so well. Movies like this should get more recognition and screen time. I watched it on Netflix, but hadn't heard of it as I hadn't seen any trailers. Very well directed and filmed in London. Great entertainment and decent storyline with more to it other than just the love story element. I'll definately watch the movie again. Oh I do love a good bollywood romcom!!

Fresh face, natural acting and well directed film
nramanan26 December 2022
It's romantic movie, and we have definitely seen this kind of film in the past. Well all Indian romantic movies are similar. But what I liked in this movie is the very natural acting by new comer Sonia Rathee. Her hindi and dialogue delivery style is quite natural. Harshavardhan Rane did pretty well too so all the supporting cast.

Set in London suburbs, the spoken Hindi/Urdu mixed with Brit slang was perfect. Otherwise I have watched many bollywood movies, where the movie filmed in England with actors speaking American English.

I haven't found a single boring scene and completed this movie in Single Sitting rather than watching it over few days (as I do most of the bollywood movies).

It's refreshing, feel good movie. Watch it definitely.

Kind of movie which makes you fall in love with Hindi cinema again.
dollyatlani25 December 2022
Bollywood requires such movies. This movie is like a breath of fresh air. The acting of Harshvardhan Rane is beyond words. He always seem to surprise me. Such a simple but fantastic movie. Does not contain all the bollywood tadka or unnecessary drama or songs, I must say. Kind of cinema we require more and more. All the actors in the movie including the lead actors are fantastic. The songs In the movie as well are so subtle and so real. The movie contains everything I would like in a movie. All the emotions in the movie are so well portrayed. If you are an emotional person, you'll surly be able to connect to this movie. A must watch movie.

P. S. This is the first time I'm writing a movie review on IMDb. I loved it so much.

Good movie
shishirjai26 December 2022
Don't go by the rating. Looks like another thing that was raided by bhakts.

It's not the finest movie ever made but it sure is a fine one time watch. Yes, the story is predictable and been done many times but the way this was handled was pretty great and fresh. Acting was great all around and not overdone. Though I wish they eased off the yellowish filter a little bit. Good change of pace in times where everyone seems to want to make a crime action thriller with in your face gore. Nice to see something relaxing for a change. Has a kissing scene and a couple of bad words. Otherwise is a fine family movie.

That kiss!
roja_cyd26 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
What got me watching was the handsome male lead and gorgeous female lead. Their chemistry builds throughout the movie and is awesome! That kiss!

All of their family members are just lovely too.

The direction is really, really uneven. If you can get past the weird pauses and way too slow buildup to when the hero and heroine actually start to interact meaningfully, you'll enjoy the movie.

Also, it's clear the movie only has the broadest ideas of what it means to have a mental health problem. Depicting PTSD in a meaningful way would have given the audience more insight and sympathy for the hero much earlier on, instead of leaving us to puzzle out until more than halfway through the movie why the hero seems so aimless and unlikeable. The scene where Bilal forgets his aunt's birthday and clearly feels guilty but also frustrated by his family could have been better, with a little more insight into his character. Some therapy would have helped him greatly.

The female lead captures your sympathy pretty quickly, and admiration as she learns what it's like to have to adapt when life throws you a curveball.

They're a cute couple, and I really wanted a sequel!

Wonderful movie went unnoticed
shaqib195 January 2023
This a wonderful movie as per my opinion. I liked it a lot. Story is not very novel and it makes you remind of Cocktail movie for the first 20 mins .

A story about an innocent girl who has big dream to fulfil in London but it got ruined by her wrong choice of husband. However after that when movie progresses it makes you fall in love with the characters especially the women of Harshvardhan Rane's family. They are the life and soul of the movie.

I enjoyed a lot. First I couldn't believe such an average face actress was cast as lead heroine but she proved me wrong with her acting skills .

I wish movie could be a hit bcos many hit movies in theatres are come out to be boring sometimes but this movie has full potential to win your heart with its innocence.

The movie is released in Open Matte on Netflix and very rare movie have been released in such Open Matte print so far. So, go and enjoy the movie . It gives you good feeling after it's over and it becomes difficult for you to not to think about it or talk about it with others.

I'm in love
saniaitis28 December 2022
Okay so I'm not a huge fan of new Bollywood movies but this one.. I watched it only because of Harshvardhan obviously cause I'm still not over sanam teri kasam and I craved for more of him.

Now for the movie... It was undoubtedly good. Somethings that are still not that set in the mentality of Asian households were shown really boldly. Like the gay bar and the Indian gays being super confident. A romance between a doctor and a gay bar dancer was something not so typical for a Bollywood movie. And most importantly how the movie focused on the women being real power and strength for their family. A family without male authority in indian household is obviously something fresh to watch.

Now lets talk about the chemistry. Well it was there obviously. The tension and everything. That kiss sealed the deal for me.

Man I'm obsessed with Harsh and how his eyes could literally give away the pain he had inside him. My boy did a really great job for sure and I did not expect any less. I would have given the movie nine stars but gave it 10 cause 1 extra star for my starboy who well made me watch it. I cried both happy and sad tears.

So overall a really great watch and I would recommend it if you're in for a fun romcom with some differences not much though.

Entertaining Movie
kvignesh-819211 November 2022
Loved the movie Loved the Songs & the story

It's so entertaining movie yet it's so disappointing that such an Entertaining movie is not getting much screens in Mumbai.

It's running in only 1 or 2 theatres in Mumbai

Please release it in more theatres across Mumbai & Navi Mumbai so people can enjoy this beautiful movie in Theatres

Great Performance by the main leads Harshwardhan Rane & Sonia Rathee

I loved all songs especially "Tune Aise Gale Se Lagaaya Ve Sajnaa Main Teri Ho Gayi Ishq Tune Hai Mujhko Sikhaaya Ke Sajnaa Main Teri Ho Gayi"

Such a Beautiful Movie you should watch it in Theatres otherwise you will regret it later after watching it in OTT that I should have watched it in Theatres...

A fresh, heartwarming movie, makes you smile at lot of instances
ridhimapoetry28 December 2022
I just started watching randomly and the storyline does capture your attention in every frame. Every character shines and is allowed to showcase their part of story.

Screenplay is convincing -- be it the moments from a Kashmiri wedding, to the portrayal of a 'pro-LGBTQ' dance club in London, to the family drama witnessed in a matriarchal household!

The main characters Bilal (Harshvardhan Rane) and Tara (Sonia Rathee) are endearing and their romance blooms so convincingly and tugs at your heart. While Rane's acting has always been natural and leaves you speechless many times, Sonia Rathee's innocence will make you smile.

Raheem Mir, who plays Ritz is a revelation, he plays a LGBTQ dancer/artist and his love story with Jiggy is a fresh breeze.

Some portions are extremely laughable, like Ritz faking as Tara's ex-husband and how he ends up charming the Khan ladies with his dance sequence on "Laal dupatta".

It is worth a watch if you are looking for a 'marshmallow romance' with a little bit of drama.

I don't know how but this movie made me cry....
danishaikh23 December 2022
Guys the movie is fabulous.... The love not only in between lead actors but that bond between families and other cast awesome. I bet if the movie was made under big more bid brand it could have done more wonders and impact. For Acting its 100 marks to all of them. I don't know what people want to see actually. This movie is full family dhamaka. Harvashdhan, he's done superb job. Apart from him there are other senior actors who has done quite decent...I mean everyone they are superb I don't want to take names coz if I forget one name it would be unfair from those 2 kidos to senior grandma.... Ritz, Tara, bilas mom, his aunties...if you watch this movie full sukoon and aram se...it'll make u indulge in it for sure I've watched it once and going for it again. Lastly thank you very much guys for bringing up such a wonderful story, I hope there is more to come, writer surprise us Pls with more....love love 😍 and love.
