Delightful and also inspiring- addictive beyond expectations
jdc-0717115 April 2022
One of the most addictive series Of a dramatic content I have ever watched! The storyline is quite realistic and develops nicely and in a heartfelt way that makes it more attractive with every episode. Excellent acting, wonderful characters, one could actually meet in real life, interacting seriously with each other as real people and not as caricatures of the gay crowd. Lovable - all of them. One feels for them without even realizing it. Directing, camera work and photography are also a big plus. Inspired and inspiring work... A little gem of Italian TV - a big one, actually!

One of the most addictive TV series I have watched in a very long time
rkeilitz-19-53791519 April 2022
This Italian TV series is by Ferzan Özpetek and Gianni Romoli and inspired by the 2001 film of the same name directed by the same Turkish director. I have been a fan of every film he has been associated with and this 8 part series is superb in every sense of the word.

The Ignorant Angels are the ones we meet and don't recognize, but who change our life. They are not from fairy tales, because they tell lies and far from perfect. They can be ignorant, outspoken, even obnoxious at times but they don't lie about their feelings. The Ignorant Angels are all those who live in the open, who live their feelings, and are not afraid to manifest them. They are the people who speak outright, who live their own contradictions and who ignore the strategies. Often they pass for ignorant, because they seem boorish, and intrusive for their lack of good manners. But they are also very often fairies, because they are capable of performing the miracle of overwhelming us. Forcing us to make a change in our life. I do hope there is a season two as I miss them already.

As a young adult, my watching experience has been vigorously interested by the story's flowing with grace and passion within a picturesque background and tasteful food&conversations.

Every kind of love... all the ways you love.

Player are very good, the movie is a triumph of magnetic gazes, music is engaging.

You'll fall in love with Antonia (Cristiana Capotondi) and Michele (Eduardo Scarpetta).

Don't miss it!!!

This is what a heart wants, such a love story

If you're thinking about if this show worths your time: it does. The soundtrack is perfect, the photography is marvelous.

The story is so well made, that even the way the season ended i wouldn't be crying or mad if they choose not to do another season.

Every story were well explored, they did a really great job by giving every character a real depth, it felt like i was watching a real story. Its envolving, it treats how humas co-op with fidelity, love, self-love, hate... It has every element to say this is true art

I know, i know, i will not give you any spoilers, i will just end this review by saying that this show deserves more recognition.

A REAL Review...
MNKim196710 August 2022
I don't know what the 10 starrers watched, but it wasn't "The Ignorant Angels" (look at how they are ALL written - dead giveaway they aren't real).

It was like a VERY bad soap opera but with better camera work - the acting and dialogue were appallingly bad. I literally have enjoyed watching paint dry more than I did watching this; don't waste your time.

The perfect companion to the original film . . .
michaelwilsonmorgan22 May 2022
I have followed and loved Ozpetek's work for many years now (starting with His Secret Life / La Fate Ignoranti 2001) and this is the perfect expansion to his original film . . . Wonderful to see what was probably extended scenes and additional characters (and their relationships) explored and showcased; expanding the universe originally created by Ozpetek in His Secret Life . . . Making bolder and bigger choices - perfectly cast, directed and acted . . . Yet, the magic, in all of his storytelling and films, thrives from the music!! The Ignorant Fairies has one of the most beautiful scores, chalk full of original songs and music and now the TV Series, follows with perfect harmony with it's use of music - incredible score and soundtrack! It's been 20 years and to see all these incredible characters thrive and celebrate, in pain and confused, hurt, vulnerable and sharing joy and laughs - exuding love and forgiveness, is exactly what I need and I'm totally here for it!!

Absolutely beautiful ode to all kinds of love
mwordes-2172015 June 2022
This series was absolutely beautiful. The cinematography, the acting, the music choices, you feel all the passion and all the ups and downs, all the torment. The flt is interesting and unique (and now I need to see the original film!). At its heart, what I love best is its humanity. Each of the characters is on a journey, is human. The way they interact and are on a journey together is also so interesting and beautiful. The acting is amazing, but the cinematography combined with the music in particular just had me overwhelmed. I sincerely hope they are able to do a second season of this series to show us what happens with all the open plot lines. Highly recommend.

Rarely does a "show" have it all. Le Fate Ignoranti does!
hans-10-3973182 January 2024
I just finished watching this. I have watched several of Oztepek's films and love his work (bias?) This is no exception.

The celebration of life (even in death) and the true connections and bonds between people are so beautifully painted that I cried and laughed many times during every episode.

A cast of several queer and "non-conforming" (for lack of a better word) people are beautifully portrayed and their challenges in life are dealt with love and a deep understanding for the challenges we meet out there. Strength comes from unusual places and is in no way contradictory to vulnerability. The lipstick scene is priceless.

Then there's the language (watch the original with subtitles), all the Italian dialects, the Turkish (which is beautiful but I don't understand it), the cinematography, the attention to details, great acting, and yes, Ozpetek's amazing direction.

I truly enjoyed having more than the movie-time to get to know the various fates of these characters. Amazing show.

The addicted and the critical are both right!
sdqwytqzn10 April 2023
I read the reviews and much of the criticism was spot on - the writing can be painfully sophomoric and the frequent long, lingering glances are not a substitute for good plotting. This is a soap, after all. HOWEVER, the characters and the dialogue will suddenly burst into painful and genuine drama and the scenes of gorgeous rooftop celebration (you will get my comment when you watch the series) and improbable, glorious friendships literally brought tears to my eyes. The "Angels" are the friends you WISH you had, as irritating as they can be. This is ensemble acting of a very high caliber.

Finally, if you are a Romanophile like me, you will forgive clunky dialogue to be able to indulge in the dizzying visual glory of Rome. And as a gay man, the series' treatment of the infidelity, insecurity, defiance and celebration of gay life rang very true.

"Addictive"? Don't be misled by the phony 10-star reviews
jimbenben18 June 2022
This is a moderately entertaining soap opera that drifts pointlessly over eight episodes and follows too many characters. There's nothing creative or original about the story, but it's pretty to watch. What really irritates me is the obviously phony reviews that exaggerate the ratings. By my count, a third of the reviews rate this a 10 and every review uses the same string of superlatives. In particular, they all say it's "addictive" which is laughable for this monotonous melodrama.

Beware the fake reviews, and watch this series if you have nothing better to do with your time.

Interesting start that ends up as a soap opera.
Avidviewer-0284719 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The main plot of a married straight man who takes a male lover isn't new, the recent film "The Cakemaker" was much better. The straight male, Massimo was killed off too soon and then it was all down hill. This would have been passable at 4 episodes, it became boring and soapy at 8 episodes.

As always, the fatal flaw is a poor script which is the undoing of this series.

Sloppy and lazy
fabiosciarra-115 April 2022
"The ignorant angels" offers wonderful as well as unreal sets, a sloppy and lazy script that even good actors can do nothing to save, and a total lack of cinematographic composition. In a nutshell, it reminds us how poor and old the standard of too many Italian television productions is. It is surprising that Disney instead of RAI distributed a program of such a low level.
