Swordsman
ctomvelu126 August 2009
Pete and Myka are on the trail of a Japanese sword that allows its user to become invisible. Things get a bit complicated when it turns out a part of the sword has been removed and is in other hands. Their search takes them back to D.C. For reasons of his own, Artie becomes personally involved in the case and shows up in D.C. This one is a little harder to follow than most, and it comes to a head at one of the capital's airports, where Artie confronts the sword's thief. Not a bad episode. I just wish the show was a little more on the adult side, a bit more realistically violent. A small enough complaint, I know. Tha lovely young woman who runs the boarding house has a bit more to do in this episode than usual.

An old enemy seeks the ultimate sword
Tweekums14 November 2017
Warning: Spoilers
This episode sees Pete and Myka sent to Washington DC to switch a perfect samurai sword with a replica. The original is in the Japanese embassy but is stolen before Pete and Myka can get it. As it is stolen there is a strange anti-explosion caused by an 'implosion grenade'. Artie is concerned that a former Warehouse 13 operative James MacPherson is behind the theft but isn't willing to share his concerns with the others. It turns out the sword isn't complete but the missing part in in Washington; it is hoped that without this part it is just an impressive sword; complete it is feared to be an artefact that can render its holder invisible! Attempts to acquire the part leads to Pete and Myka being ordered to leave Washington by their former boss and Artie's hidden past being revealed.

I rather enjoyed this episode; the artefact was rather cool even if its properties are inevitably a little far-fetched. The real highlight though was learning more about Artie's past; this features some real surprises that hopefully will be further investigated in later episodes. The introduction of MacPherson as recurring character is done well; at this point we don't see too much of him but certainly learn that he is very dangerous and clearly has a grudge against Artie and the Warehouse. The episode includes some good action, including a decapitation, and some fairly impressive special effects for the implosion grenades. It was nice to see more of Genelle Williams, as Leena, although I did miss Claudia's presence. Overall another fun episode.

An old colleague returns
Paularoc24 October 2012
Warning: Spoilers
The dynamic duo is on the track of the theft of a perfect and magic Samurai sword that allows the wielder to become invisible. Artie is suspicious that the person behind the theft is an old colleague, MacPherson, and Artie then joins Pete and Myka in Washington D.C. in the hunt for the sword. There's plenty of interaction with Pete and Myka's former boss at the FBI who is still being kept in the dark about their assignment with the warehouse. This episode is a little flat and a bit confusing; MacPherson's motives for turning rogue are not clarified but what is clear is that this is a plot arc that we will see more about in succeeding episodes. Artie recovers the sword but by a means that isn't recommended. I liked the nice nod to the Star Trek red shirts plot device, that was cool. The frenetic doings of the characters are always amusing so this episode, while not riveting is still highly watchable.
