Bad cringe, not even good cringe.
simaocardosoint26 August 2022
I am a big fan of Kevin Hart. He usually makes me laugh a lot. I saw the rating on IMDB and thought: maybe it's because it has just been released and doesn't have enough votes. No, it's bad, really bad.

The director decided to throw money everywhere and ended up with an American Pie wannabe movie for dads. I have watched 1 hour of it and laughed 0 times. They managed to make the funniest actor on earth, not funny at all, just cringe.

It's the first time I can't finish one of Kevin Hart's movies.

I just don't understand how he and Wahlberg accepted doing this. Is this really the guy that wrote "Meet the parents?"

Do not waste your time.

This is what you get...

...when big Hollywood names go for the big money and Netflix think they can score easy with those big names and with no effort besides that.

If Kevin and Mark weren't in this movie this would be considered a laughably bad B-movie. Come to think of it even with Mark and Kevin this is a laughably bad B-movie. The bad part starts in the first scene I mean just look at the CGI helicopter...

So apparently you need to have 600 characters in these reviews nowadays. So here goes. Kevin Hart puts up a predictable performance. The typical comedy we've seen him do now a million times in his movies. I mean I loved his movies but some point it's getting old. It's too predictable and too easy. Even Mark's brand of comedy is been there done that.

Kevin Hart entering that very dangerous road of an Adam Sandler lazy movie career.
elvylanda30 August 2022
Me Time is a comedy starring Kevin Hart and Mark Wahlberg as long time buddies who reunite after a few years of not seeing each other to have another adventure together celebrating Hart's character birthday. Wahlberg plays Huck while Hart plays Sonny. Sonny gets depressed knowing that he's a Mr. Mom, stay at home dad, while his wife, played by Regina Hall, is an up and coming architect. As a result, Sonny gets depressed that all he is a super dad who directs school talent shows. This is where Huck comes in, and Huck being the crazy, wild child, they automatically get into trouble and adventure that results in Sonny and Huck destroying things and saving one another from a loan shark.

Overall, I liked it. It had a few funny moments. Wahlberg and Hart worked really well together despite being an odd pairing for a comedy but both guys are pretty good actors. Wahlberg is a very good, underappreciated, actor that can do anything. Hart himself is a good actor as well and very likeable in every film that I've seen him in.

The negative part and this is where my headline comes in. Hart is entering that dangerous Adam Sandler route of lazy movie making with a very glossy comedy, a lot of sex jokes, a celebrity appearance, over the top storyline, zany antics but no real story or heart to their film. Me Time felt like an Adam Sandler film from I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry and every film after that. Just a lazy film. And this one was too lazy and zany like a Sandler film and Hart shouldn't be doing these types of films just yet as he is still in his prime as an actor.

Overall, Me Time is a fun flick but won't be a memorable film. Just something to watch and enjoy on a boring day. Also, you just hope Kevin Hart doesn't steer too close to these types of films for awhile.

The 10 step Netflix comedy process...
NullUnit29 August 2022
1) Boot laptop

2) Open "Movie Formula 2c - Family Comedy.doc" file

3) Change husband profession to Homemaker/School Talent Show director

4) Change wife profession to architect

5) Change house pet to tortoise

6) Change relationship with troublemaker to "best friend"

7) Find and replace "Main Character" with "Kevin Hart"

8) Find and Replace "Secondary Character" with "Mark Wahlberg"

9) Find "primary action joke" scene - insert joke sequence 17A

10) Print and distribute.

There ya go.. this film in a nutshell. There's NOTHING original here. It's all terribly predictable without any surprises whatsoever.

That being written, it's not "terrible" - it's just VERY run-of-the-mill. NO ONE is stepping outside any comfort zones here - not the actors, not the writer/director.... no one. I, personally, found no laughter here - I saw the attempts, but all the jokes fell completely flat for me. Watch with the family.. teenagers or "tweens" MIGHT like it more - merely because they may not be aware of some of the 'the world doesn't work like that' aspects. But it's just sugar-coated standard schlock from Netflix's "family comedy" sweatshop.

It was suppose to be a comedy movie and when i saw the main cast i was really into it.

Mark and Kevin has some great comedy movies. How bad this could go wrong... well it went horribly.

Jokes were so bad and predictable that even Kevin Hart couldnt execute in a fun way and Mark was complete like a guest star.

I hope they can meet in a better project with a better story that we can have fun and good time.

It is one of these movies that the trailer is better than the whole movie. Netflix really needs to change the movies department. They have only couple of good series and thats all.

I cant say anything for the rest of the characters. Because they were so cliche. Writers tried to make them funny as well and ended up being annoying. Uber driver to get help, really.

Watchable but uses the ol' netflix inclusive checkboxes
lassemahn28 August 2022
It's a pretty decent comedy but with a tone that feels a little malplaced. Some over the top cussing and sexual inserts that makes it kind of weird to watch with a younger audience, at the same time that it has some themes that seemed aimed at a family watching.

Also of course manages to tick off the usual woke netflix checkboxes, genderfluid, interacial, "my wife", etc etc. Kind of a shame. It adds nothing to the actual story, it feels like someone just added in there to tick the boxes.

Main actors are solid, supporting not so much. Netflix really need to get it's act together if they want to keep me as a paying customer.

A "comedy" with nothing to offer
jtindahouse26 August 2022
Something I've noticed with writer/director John Hamburg is that he either writes extremely funny comedies, or comedies that won't make you laugh once. 'Me Time' is unfortunately the latter. This movie was not funny in the least bit.

The problem with Kevin Hart, and the reason I almost never enjoy his movies, is that they're based around energy rather than clever writing. He does bring energy to a movie but that doesn't do it for me. I need some intelligence in the script. Hart is more likely to try and find comedy in slipping on something on the floor, than making a clever observation or witty retort.

Mark Wahlberg can be great in comedies but he needs to be playing off someone who is truly funny. When he's in the 'Ted' movies opposite Seth MacFarlane or opposite Will Ferrell in something like 'The Other Guys' he can play the straight guy and make the other guy even funnier. When the other guy isn't funny like Hart however, Wahlberg's performance comes across very flat as it does in 'Me Time'.

If we learnt anything from 'Scary Movie' and the 2022 Oscars it is that Regina Hall is probably the most talented comic this film has. And yet they don't give her anything to work with. Not once is she given an opportunity to be funny. She is just there to be the run of the mill wife who ticks every cliche in the book. It was very disappointing to see that.

I could go on and on and about the reasons this movie was terrible but I don't think it is worth my energy. I didn't enjoy this one at all. 3/10.

Typical Kevin Hart comedy.
deloudelouvain4 September 2022
If you don't like Kevin Hart, I mean if you don't find him funny, just skip this one then. Because it's a typical Kevin Hart comedy character you get in Me Time, the one he mostly plays, and that's fine by me as I find it entertaining to watch. Mark Wahlberg already proved he can play in comedies and in this one he plays a good sidekick for Kevin Hart. I won't say it's the greatest comedy ever, far from that, but it has some good moments, good enough to cheer me up a little bit in this sad world. The comedy genre is just very difficult to rate as we all have a different sense of humor so before watching this one ask yourself if you ever liked a movie with Kevin Hart before? The answer to that question should be enough to whether you should watch Me Time or not.

I watched it with an open mind
jonathanotchengco28 August 2022
I watched it with an open mind. My expectations were bery very low but boy oh boy was i disappointed.

I don't even know how to describe it. I'm not sure who wrote it and why they wrote it.

It just did not make any sense. I know comedy and time passers are meant for that but this one had absolutely no direction. It was just terrible and i enjoy all the will ferrell and adam sandler movies even the most stupid and horrible ones because i'm just there to take my mind off the real world.

I watched the whole thing and i was hoping for atleast one laugh but seriously I would rather read all the stupidity in twitter than watch this movie.

It felt like a 101 minute long bland SNL sketch.
Top_Dawg_Critic3 October 2022
Kevin Hart with Mark Wahlberg is not a bad idea for a comedy film, but the cliched by the numbers writing and directing by John Hamburg was the biggest joke here. It felt like a last minute SNL sketch were every writer threw in a theme just to get something out for the viewers, and every idea totaled the bloated runtime, then mixed in some Johnny Knoxville antics in attempt to make the story funnier. Although I did chuckle only a few times in the entire runtime, none of it was as funny as it was in poor taste. It took the 'fun' out of funny. Although the pacing was decent, the content was just too bland, cliched, predictable and all over the place. It's a generous 6/10 all going to the leads who did their best with the slop they were given.

Wow is Netflix really trying to suck badly at making movies now?
darill-2802728 August 2022
This wasn't a very good movie, I was expecting the best from Mark and Kevin, they didn't do well in this movie, it was almost like they were forced to do things they didn't want to do but who can blame them?! I mean why does Netflix feels they need to show support for Amber Heard? And why do they feel they need to include politics in the movie? This where Netflix really screws things up with their movies. Nobody is interesting in politics inside the movie, we watch movie to take a break from all that crazy politics to avoid them not to watch them. Many of us are very disappointed in Netflix. It is sad that I have to give such low ratings, especially for Kevin and Mark they are both known to be awesome actors, I don't blame them for anything, I truly feel they were forced to act this way because of Netflix or their horrible director, I feel like they are using the same director that makes bad movies on Netflix. Sad to say.

Y'all Reviewers SUCK!!!
gab-6759911 September 2022
Not only did I love this movie it was AT the very least a 6! How can that stupid movie X have better ratings than this one!? Someone said they turned it off after seeing Heart and Wahlberg naked they turned it off!!??? And the movie X creepy old crusty ppl having sex in it. I have a family and I get needing me time This movie reminded me of Babysitting (2014) but I loved that movie a bit more. VERY funny. Yes this movie was funny at times but it was more about crazy things that happen to parents on their time away from kids. I enjoyed it, but it looked like other didn't even have the sense to even vote it higher than a 4 which is sad because it was not horrible.

Nice
gianmarcoronconi5 September 2022
If one leaves out the continuous holes in the plot, logic and truthfulness of the actions done, the film is very nice and entertaining, but above all it manages to fulfill its main task, which is to entertain the viewer in a light and not too thorough way so as to create a film with a very pleasant atmosphere that manages to be funny throughout its duration. Obviously the film has many defects especially for the real uselessness of the underlying plot but if one takes it as a series of comic skits connected by a common thread in the background then one can really enjoy this film in a beautiful and genuine way.

Disappointed
craigmbritt28 August 2022
I love Kevin Hart and Mark Wahlberg so when I saw this movie come out I was excited to see it. What a big disappointment. It was all around terrible. The writing was lazy, acting was bad, and the special effects were awful. The writers seemed to be more concerned about adding woke culture into this movie than funny jokes. You could see the jokes coming which was annoying. The acting was terrible and it felt like Kevin and Mark were forced to do this movie. They used a bit of special effects and green screens and you could really tell because it was all so bad. This movie made me cringe more than laugh. Movies like this is why Netflix is losing subscribers.

More like Waste of Time
nickijjohnson-1695528 August 2022
When I first saw this trailer I wished that it was not a Netflix movie and was in theaters because with a comedic duo like Kevin Hart and Mark Wahlberg it deserved an audience. So I thought. Truthfully nothing about the cast was the problem. The story was all over the place and it was painfully unfunny. It was just cheesy and I fail to see why every comedy feels like some random wild animal attack is supposed to be funny. The party scenes were weak like a watered down version of Bad moms and of all musicians they get seal who just added another boring scene to an already boring movie. I mean it's Mark Wahlberg and Kevin Hart so it's not a total disaster but the script was just crap. A silver lining for me was a newcomer that played the Uber driver Thelma. She's really got something. Bet money you're gonna see her more and hopefully in leading roles. That said the only other highlight was seeing Mark Wahlberg's ass. I really thought it was gonna be good it just wasn't but definitely not the actors' fault. They worked with what they had.

Good time pass movie

Good time pass movie, i really enjoyed watching this one. Kevin Hart and Mark is nice combo for this funny adventure trip... Their chemistry worked out well for the script. They took scenes from other funny movies and ruined them
ballslarge28 August 2022
There was nothing original in this movie and it was not funny. It's like a pieced together movie of unfunny clips that tried to rip off other good movies and failed. I have nothing else to say except why did I waste my life with this. I would not recommend watching a minute of this movie. It's bad from beginning to end and leaves you with the feeling of empty ness. I could have stared at the wall for two hours and it would have been more enjoyable. This should never have been made and should be immediately erased from human history. I doubt if you sat down and tried to write the worst movie in history it would be as bad as this was.

This is career ending bad.

follows the typical comedy formula, with a few laughs
LetsReviewThat2628 August 2022
This film was like many other comedies in the sense it follows the same principles of main character does something that makes partner made and they leave till they come back again. As main character tries to redeem their selves before the climax. There were a few laughs here and there but nothing out there. Walburg and hart were fun enough and felt they had good chemistry. Its nice to see ragina hall again and also seal who I thought was a good inclusion. I was hoping for maybe some more mayhem or adventure like the hangover series but it is what it is. Altogether not the worst of comedy or best but it was fun for what it was with a good cast.

Dialled in
chunkylefunga26 August 2022
Guess I'll be the first to rate this then.

The movie just doesn't really get going. If it's aiming to be a comedy, it just wasn't funny. If it's aiming to be wild and wacky, then it fails in that category too.

I feel like to movie's idea was have Sonny have a wild adventure with Huck but then the budget said actually you guys have to film in the desert and suburbs and not really do much.

The writing was very lazy and both Mark and Kevin really just dialled in a sub par performance. Mark definitely didn't look like he wanted to be here.

Netflix really need to start adding good content again. It's flops like this which are causing people to leave.

Another Boring Netflix film
aleybassem26 August 2022
What'd you expect, a cool and fun Netflix movie, yeah that's not the case here. This movie was VERY dumb and badly written.

Kevin Hart and Mark Wahlberg were alright. The rest were just annoying and unrealistic.

Honestly, this movie was just made for the money. No real desire here. Wouldn't recommend it unless you're a Kevin Hart Stan.

Entertaining 😀
jrocha-2915026 August 2022
To say it's a masterpiece or a must see would be a lie. It is what it is. Kevin Hart being Kevin Hart and Mark Wahlberg shining in his new role in Hollywood as a straight man. Very funny at moments and a good movie to kick back with! We need more comedy these days as almost everything out there is death dealing or something horrible! This movie is predictable and obvious but it is generally a good flick. If you're a fan of Kevin Hart then u will love the movie. If you're a Wahlberg fan you will wonder why he is playing the side guy in his recent movies. Still kinda funny but I'm pretty sure I have seen this story arc at least a couple of dozen times over the years. Wahlberg seems to be doing better in these comedic roles as he is generally funny and it's cool to see Hart starring in a movie that does not have The Rock standing next to him!

Well well well,

I'll sum this up with few words, It's so bad , I mean so bad that I almost cancelled my Netflix subscription because this felt like a clear violation of my rights .

I wish I could give it zero because even 1 is generous.

Comedy movies have gone from mediocre to bad to horrible in the last 15 years.

And this Kevin dude is like making 4 a year.

It's all about minimum effort , horrible scripts, terrible movies , alot of marketing to earn the big money eventually.

But seriously if you enjoy this or give it more than 3!!! You definitely need some therapy.

And by the way why is mark Wahlberg a sell out now,

Unsure why there's so much negativity
chris_rowe-881-16882027 August 2022
It's just like most daft comedies over the years, ridiculous sub plots, outrageous and silly moments that would never happen to anyone. Dialogue that's just typical to both actors that is just their style, there's nothing wrong with this movie.

Easy watch, some decent laughs, people expect way to much and are all experts these days yet offer no actual constructive criticism to improve it. For me it could've been a bit more fleshed out in terms of hucks life, like the loneliness and mistakes he's been making, the reveal was obvious but it could've added a bit more depth.

Some movies are going to do more, for me comedies that are outrageous and fun are just what's needed, too many serious things these days, not enough humour.

Light-hearted fun
Vancouver7727 August 2022
I enjoyed this witty Kevin Hart / Mark Wahlberg comedy which contains some burst-out-laughing moments. It has a low rating currently and as a result, I almost passed it by - but instead I think it deserves a higher rating. I personally think it is worth a watch - Mark Wahlberg is always a pleasure to watch and Kevin Hart really shines - he carries the movie. I am impressed with Hart's acting skills - he's more than just a funny comedian. Kevin Hart plays a sensible and devoted stay-at-home dad who reconnects with his more-adventurous childhood friend for a birthday celebration, and trouble ensues. It is a light-hearted movie, with clever dialogue, many amusing scenes & some laugh-out-loud moments. I enjoyed the movie and hope you do too.

Not funny
Calicodreamin29 August 2022
I don't think I chuckled even once during this whole movie. Both the dialogue and the storyline were bland and none of the jokes landed. Acting was fairly decent from the cast but the characters lacked depth. Plot was kind of all over the place and a lot of unnecessary back and forth. The ending was way too forced feel good, it was expected and delivery lacked any real empathy. Was expecting a lot more from this cast but surprisingly Hart and Wahlberg lacked the buddy chemistry needed to pull something like this off. Definitely a skip, not worth the time it took to watch. Like they pulled all the modern movie tropes and tried to pass them off as unexpected.
