I figured I'd outgrown this humor
KOOLAIDBRO30 June 2022
I'm very happy about this. It's toilet, juvenile humor and I was cracking up for the majority of this movie.

If you liked the show or Beavis and Butthead do America than you are in for a treat.

"With God's help, we will learn from Cornholio today, and we will become better men."
M_Exchange27 June 2022
As other people have written, unlike many modern reboots and sequels, it's like a time portal to the '90s because Mike Judge changed nothing. I have rarely laughed as much at a comedy from the last couple of decades during this movie's first half. It lags a bit in the second half, but even during those mundane moments I was pleased to waste time with my favorite morons.

I was 15 when I discovered them on Liquid TV when they were 15, so it was... haunting... to see Judge's representation of them as they would appear as my age today. It was brief, yet haunting. But decades of idiotic living would truly cause that appearance. It's "the faces of meth" without the meth, I guess.

Great job, Mike Judge.

I laughed all the way through
spmact24 June 2022
I watched the last movie right before watching this and the sense of humour is just as it was back in the 90s. In fact I can even say that I laughed way more during this movie than I did in its predecessor.

The story line had some definite similarities to the last movie, but the animation looked different for some reason. Oddly enough Beavis and Butt-head looked the same, but all the other characters looked like they were from a different movie. It didn't look like the class Mike Judge animation, but the laughs were still there regardless.

All in all, if you're a fan of classic B&B you'll love this.

The show >1996 movie>>>this movie
TheOneThatYouWanted25 June 2022
Nowhere near as good as the original series or the newer episodes back in 2011. And compared to Beavis and Butt-Head Do America, it is definitely more than a few steps down. Still, it doesn't s&CK. I hope Mike Judge will have a more active role in future Beavis and Butt-Head stuff. He he, I said stuff..

No Politics. Thank God!
rp-79296-5958224 June 2022
I was never a huge B&BH fan. I watched it back in the day, saw the first film when it came out. It was dumb, but had it's moments, which is OK. This movie is exactly more of the same. Like no time has passed, and it's still the mid 90s. Thankfully, it hasn't been put through the modern PC police. Sanitization, no overt promotion of any alternative lifestyle classes of people and no politics. It really could have been made in 1995.

Loved seeing Cornholio but the stick of censorship was felt throughout
sumtim3s00n24 June 2022
Man I havent realized how much I missed these dumb s S and how it made me laugh. And I watched it all the way through which is more and more rare these days without skipping parts or scanning through the bleak boring trash of today.

However it did feel slightly off. Sure the core jokes were there and they knew what strings to pull for nostalgia's sake but they werent quite the nutty B&B of the past. Those two were far more crude, far more liberal to criticise whatever came to mind and in general went where no other cartoons went really, unless you count fictional Itchy and Scratchy from Simpsons :)

All in all, loved seeing them however dislike this atmosphere of today keeping everything sterile and the jokes mild, no more putting up direct mirror to the lunacy of certain individuals, situations or groups. Beavis and Butthead used to do that , not so much anymore.

Gender Education!!!!

Warning: Spoilers
The entire movie was made for me with this one scene! The second they walked into the class and I saw the White Board, my face just lit up with a smile and just saying "Ohhhhh yes, here we go!"

I could not stop laughing when they're teaching Beavis and Butt-Head "white privilege" and how they took it and what immediately happens!

Pure genius!

Unlike 99% of sequels, this Crushed.

Judge left nothing on the field.

Very smart writing. Never boring.

One of the best movies I've seen in a long time. 10/10 all day.

Pure nostalgia.
deloudelouvain16 July 2022
If you grew up with MTV, when MTV was still about music, not like nowadays where there is absolutely no music being played, you might enjoy this movie. But for that you must have seen numerous episodes before from Beavis and Butthead. Only then you could understand what it's about. For Beavis and Butthead it's about scoring, not in real sports, but the bed sports. Sex is the only thing they think about, losing their virginity, and nachos of course. It's dumb humor, repetitive, but it's funny, it's a bit of nostalgia. I enjoyed it and I'm sure plenty of others will also.

Damage is cool, yea... fire! Hee hee...
fleck05IMDB23 June 2022
I came for the idiocy, I stayed for the story.

I was expecting a story like B&B Do America - but this is better. I would have been content hearing my favorite two idiots spitting out phrases like cornholio - TP for my bunghole and FIRE for a couple hours... but it actually came with a decent story of political intrigue. As usual the adults have all their own motivations, while B & B note things like - that sign says Johnson - and they remain obsessed with boobs and phallic symbols. I don't know if the humor translates for people that weren't young in the 90's - I'm sure my score got a couple stars for nostalgia. I'll be curious to read what people write that weren't around when B & B were everywhere. (Glad I caught the Mike Judge interview on Rogan.) It makes me want to rewatch Office Space and Idiocracy this week, too.

Decent, but not as good as "Beavis and Butthead Do America"
DefectFreeCode8 July 2022
The plot was a little flimsy and somewhat similar to "Do America," but the movie had a decent pace and enough laughs to keep you engaged throughout.

The animation is disjointed. The old Beavis and Butthead characters still resemble the TV show and first movie, but the other characters look like they were lifted from "Archer."

It like changes the paradigm or something
aeongale23 June 2022
It's perfect. Was a bit worried seeing CG animation in the intro but the movie is real animation. Biggest surprise is the plot is a bit more elaborate than Do America. All the stupidity you want is still there but it actually has a good thriller plot that isn't always obvious. Judge can still do Butthead's voice 100%, but Beavis is a bit off at times, not enough to really matter. Best Black Sabbath song chosen to feature in it.

wasted opportunity
talllwoood133 July 2022
The humor was forced, the script seemed kind of rushed. It's practically the first movie all over again with a few new jokes like how they added white privilege

i have watched beavis and butthead since the late 90s and this was embarrassing. Whoever wrote the script should find another career.

just right for the target audience
Special-K885 July 2022
Twenty-six years since their last foray onto the big screen, woefully inept, single-minded nitwits Beavis & Butt-Head still don't have a learning curve, and yet somehow manage to end up in space camp where their buffoonery is mistaken as an asset to an important space mission, which of course leads to disastrous results. The duo's double entendre and off-color humor which was right at home in the 90s is sure to be curtailed in this day and age, yet that doesn't stop this from being an enjoyably goofy (and occasionally clever) showing. Give credit where credit is due, as co-writer and creator Mike Judge zeroes in on the workforce, intercourse, toxic masculinity, plus incarceration, white privilege, and multiverses, in fact hardly anything is spared from parody but it's all done in a way that's both edgy and funny, and without being totally offensive. Doesn't break any new ground though there are plenty of chuckles throughout, though it's likely to be viewed as inconsequential to someone who isn't a fan of the source material. **½

Good nostalgia
inacan-90-89426114 July 2022
I went in with low expectations. It was actually pretty good. It's essentially the same plot as the 1st movie with misidentification and people wanting to kill them as the boys are on a Quest to get paid. I didn't know how much I missed them until I saw this. It's fun nostalgia with a decent soundtrack.

Fun sequel to equal the original
mwdenizn-4189325 June 2022
Still remember going to watch the first film back in 1998 and laughing at its crude, yet hilariously crazy and funny premise. If you have been wondering where the boys have been all these years, this film takes place directly after the first and brings you up to speed. Creator Judge has brought back this crazy duo in a brand new adventure just as insane, if not more than the first.

It's not Citizen Kane but if you're a Beavis and Butthead fan from the 90's, you'll enjoy this new entry into the series.

The Universe? They spend most of their time in Texas.
BA_Harrison26 June 2022
Twenty six years after they did America, Beavis and Butt-head are back again, and, like last time, their sole pursuit is to score. It is 1998, and through a series of misunderstandings, the moronic duo find themselves part of a NASA space shuttle crew, believing that their mission is to make it with shuttle commander Serena Ryan (Andrea Savage). When it comes to performing the real task at hand - a delicate docking procedure with the Mir space station - the boys cause untold damage and are booted into space by Serena.

After drifting for a couple of days, Beavis and Butt-head are sucked into a black hole and find themselves in Galveston, Texas, in 2022, where they encounter alternate versions of themselves from another dimension who inform them that unless they go back through a time portal, both of their universes will cease to exist. Meanwhile, the feds, who believe that 1998 Beavis and Butt-head are aliens, want to dissect them, and Serena, now state governor, tries to silence them so that no-one learns what really went down on the shuttle (uh-huh, uh-huh.... I said 'went down').

'...Do the Universe' is mostly puerile comedy, with the emphasis on innuendo, which is fine by me -- that is, after all, what I came for (I said 'I came' - Huh huh huh!) -- but after all the fun in space, the Texas-bound stuff feels rather uninspired and repetitive by comparison, with much of the humour falling flat. That's not to say there aren't a few solid laughs to be had along the way -- my favourite part (apart from my wiener, that is) is Serena asking 'Are you here to destroy me?' -- and the scene about white privilege is an amusing swipe at wokeism (the idea that Beavis and Butt-head, of all people, are advantaged because of their race is absurd), but there's a lot less funny stuff than I had hoped for - even the reappearance of Cornholio failed to crack me up.

5.5/10, rounded up to 6 for IMDb. Worth a one-time watch for long-time Beavis and Butt-head fans, who will no doubt enjoy the nostalgia, but unlikely to hold much appeal for a new generation.

Go watch it, fartknocker
tasmith197223 June 2022
Nobody goes into this movie expecting much in the realm of intellectual enlightenment, and proudly this movie delivers. The general theme is similar to "Beavis and Butthead Do America," in that the two idiots end up on an adventure that they are too stupid to understand. Nevertheless the gags and situations are pretty darn funny, and Mike Judge has done a good job of bringing the humor into a modern context.

This time around the duo are a bit more intelligent than they were back in the day (not by much). Their vocabulary is a bit more advanced as is their critical thinking. Beavis even shows a few signs of personal growth. Also a tad bit is revealed regarding family and personal history.

All told this movie does the franchise justice. If you were dumb enough to enjoy the classic series, you will be happy to see this new addition to their moronic exploits.

Childhood memories probably best left in the past
KpopSucks24 June 2022
I was pleased to hear about it being made, these two nerds were a big part of my zeitgeist when I was learning how the world works. It's filled with a refreshing charm and I enjoyed it for a while but then halfway through I started getting bored with the same elements repeating. I'm glad I watched it but I won't revisit as I've moved a long way on from my cloudy teens. I won't leave a political comment as too many commenters here seem to think you have to review something from a fixed idealogical position and I worry this mad US tribalism will further degrade film making and the country until there's nothing left there but a landscape from the excellent movie Idiocracy.

While I appreciated the short lived reboot from about a decade ago, this bests it in every way. Great ridiculous story with some classic Beavis and Butthead scenarios. Mike Judge has outdone himself.

It's ok
ricardo_naud28 June 2022
As a fan of the original series, I'm happy this was made, but it's more of a nostalgic thing. Christmas or Halloween specials were the better ones, the Do america movie was also decent and had a good soundtrack at least. Speaking of it, a lot of this movie just reminds of Do america... chasing them thinking they're smart, misinterpretation of going to score... And overall it feels a bit toned down. It isn't bad, certainly worth a watch, but overall not on the same level as the original, more on par with the 2011 revival.

So disapointed because I love mike judges work
Johnthereviewer3 July 2022
I couldn't stay focused watching it, lost interest. Was a couple funny parts but maybe I should've not been sober because that's the only way this movie would've been great to me is if I was off something. I downloaded the series and idiocracy to get some closure... this just wasn't it for me. Big let down because I got so excited when I first heard about it listening to him on the joe Rogan podcast when I had no idea it was a thing. Maybe it's MTV's fault who knows.
