There definitely could ave been more to the story. That said, there should have been less to it. There really wasn't a story-line, just a group of friends go to a haunted house type event. They already had a jason,mike myers, freddie type of character and then they had to add a story and change things up. Would have been a decent 6.3 if they kept it simple but instead gets a 5.1. It's amusing and fast paced but could have been funny and pleasantly paced.

Oh boy where do I start. I usually am very lenient with these type of movies. They usually are very cliche with bad acting and very predictable. I did not actually guess the ending but it was so ridiculous that it just was bad. The good part was the setting and to some extent the photography. It was kind of creepy and the acting could have been worse. However it could have been much much better with a decent script. All of the characters acted like fools running around and they made really bad decisions. Towards the end I thought to myself it wasn't a horrible movie but then the ending song happened and that was the clencher for me. It was the cheesiest song and ending. This is one of those movies I wanted to like but at the end of the day it was just bad. Even the title was stupid.

No movies now a day deserves a 10 so stop rating them so. This movie was beyond stupid. Kill all your friends because you lost you football spot? Why not just kill the guy who took your spot? Then he makes the qb kill for him? And because he knew the qb threw the game? How does he know this? And if the qb is willing to kill lots of people, why not kill the guy in the first place instead of doing his bidding? Also the qb killed so many random people for no reason. Then near the end he said he's out and doesn't want to kill anymore? WTF? And the qb said he would kill the main bad guy if he told the qb's dad? WTF? Then in the end he doesn't kill the last girl and runs away? Doesn't he know she can report him to the police? Stupid movie, but one guy was funny. Also 1 star to counter all the fake reviews.

From beginning to end I cringed at the acting. Just terrible all around.i wish I could give this no stars. The one good thing about this movie is the plot twist. I can't believe I even finished it. Oh, please don't get me started on the ending. I love to support my people but this was not it. Did they even have scripts or were the just improvising the lines. I'm so disappointed in the actors in this movie for even agreeing to put out this horrendous movie.
Now don't get me wrong I like the idea of this movie but they did not do the concept justice. Hoping that all of them gets some acting classes in the near future.

So I want to know how this horrible movie got 6 stars . I see alot support black movies but really 10 stars on a movie with no story line , and bad acting. The movie could have been alot better if the director knew what he was doing . The killing was fake the screams was over the top . The death scenes needed to be gory and terrifying instead I got fake blood and little left to the imagination. To be honest , I ended up moreeeeeee time on my telephone than watching this movie . I support black movies but im not giving 10 stars just to give 10 stars . Don't waste your time you will be disappointed.

The opening actually gave me high hopes for this movie, then as soon as the credits were finished it immediately went to crap. Using the "scares" of the haunted house/trail within the movie for most of the horror elements doesn't make a good horror movie. It's actually frustrating as a viewer to just be watching the characters react to scares that we don't get to enjoy as even mild startles ourselves. The constant babbling and shrieking of the characters doesn't amount to decipherable or meaningful dialogue that moves a story forward in any way. Outside of the chaotic filming of disjointed house-of-horrors scenes, attempts at a storyline are pathetic. Some of these actors should never appear in front of a camera again, the skill level is that poor. And I don't even think there were writers. It's just so painful, in the worst possible way.

How this movie got a 5.0 rating I will never understand. The "acting" is laughably bad and the script isn't any better. The actor playing Zay is just plain annoying. He just will not stop yapping even though he has absolutely nothing to say. He's like a chihuahua on speed or something. And I think his IQ drops a bit more every time he opens his mouth, cause nothing of any substance ever comes out. After watching for about 40 minutes I wanted to kill him myself just to shut him up! I ended up stopping the movie instead as I just couldn't finish it. If you're considering watching this movie - don't. It's an hour and a half or so of your life wasted. Do something fun with your time instead - like watch paint dry... Believe me - you'll enjoy it more.

Best movie I've seen in a long time. The acting is superb, the story is well written, and you get goosebumps during the climax. It's not really a horror movie per se, but more of a thriller, which makes it all the better.

I see alot of references to it being a "black" movie, well im a white dude and I thought it was pretty good. Laughed pretty hard when they were running frantically and the one dude yelling "see i told you, this is white people s@#t." Funny cuz it's true, it's what we do. But the movie blended comedy and horror seamlessly and tapered the comedy down a little at a time til it was full on horror with some shock kills. The overall revealing plot was a little weak but forgivable given the nature of the show. They want you to take it seriously but not too serious. It was a solid flick imo. I guess the only negative I'd give it which is why I said 6 instead of 7 stars was the ending, it was kinda flat but final bit of acting kinda made up for it but not all the way. Regarding the acting overall, it was rather well done and believable which surprised me some. I think this is a movie that you either totally hate or kinda like til you almost love it but not quite. Aside from the movie though, even without real life murders, this haunted trail would be an awesome one in real life.

The film was boring, dull, and none of them could act except one. All the screaming was too much and dude in the pink shirt was more annoying than funny. I think Robin Givens should have directed a film about a psychopath from the beginning to the end, that did not involve being on a haunted trail. The only thing interesting is when the killer of the movie was revealed, and the ending had me shaking my head because Reggie Couz talent was wasted in this movie. The ending was funny but made me believe the character really didn't have all his marbles upstairs. I would like to see more of Reggie Couz and believes his talent in acting will take him far.

I honestly didn't want to write a review because I didn't have any high expectations from the movie but a little something to just pass the time and since the directing was accredited to Robin Givens, I just wanted to see what it would be about, why that genre? The more I watched it, the more stupid it got, it was extremely disjointed and had an utterly stupid storyline then the acting, furthermore they went
on to add a super watery plot twist. It was just terrible. While running for your life, you stop by to pick your earring saying your mum will kill you? Then a bunch of black guys couldn't put up any hard fight or a proper way to get out of the horror house together. I get it's meant to be a horror film but this was just horrible and too lame. And yeah, they tried to add comedy too.

I hate that I am forced to used so many characters to tell you this was a waste of time. But here goes. As a fan of horror movies, this was not one of them.... Haunted trail is about friends visiting a haunted house/trail of sorts and one of them has an agenda. There wasn't any gore, small amount of blood splatter and the screams were just corny. You see your friend die and there are no tears. You see one of them hanging and you don't stick together? You don't alert one of the many still working employees that something is going on??? You don't fight back? Your football players for goodness sakes. It was a complete waste of time. No name actors, if that's what you want to call them and Desi Banks and all that dumb screaming and cursing.... He sounded like a complete fool.

Listening to Desi Banks telling everyone he'll knock them out, with no base in his voice was beyond annoying. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy the content he creates on social media, but not this movie. Marquise C Brown, WOW, I loved her smile and her acting was top notch, not sure if It was infatuation or just looking for a silver lining while watching this predictable dumpster fire. The wannabe Michael Myers was horrible. The weed smoker was annoying, what smoker, smokes a roach clip for 15 mins that won't stay lit? Just roll up another one! What happened to the gun? The acting is trash, (except for Marquise C Brown) the ending is trash, too. I wanted to support Haunted Trail, but please, for the love of God, Robin Givens, please don't ever make another horror movie, again.
Can't believe someone invested in this.

I rarely write reviews.. Though Sometimes I see something so bad that I need to take a minute and leave one. That being said, the writers who wrote the screenplay should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. I Can't believe they tricked someone in to investing in this. The acting was horrible. It will make you cringe. No need to single out any of them as they were all equally terrible. All of the blame shouldn't be on them as it would be impossible for anyone to make that dialogue work. This is what happens when you combine garbage with garbage. Im repeating myself, but It's astonishing that anyone would invest after reading the script. Everyone involved should be ashamed.

Normally, I would skip right past a movie with the poster and description - "A group of college friends receives the surprise of their lives when they discover there is an actual killer on the scene of a local haunted trail." - but then I noticed that Haunted Trail was directed by Robin Givens.
Yes, the Robin Givens who pretty much knocked out Mike Tyson.
The first thing you may notice is that the killer looks like the black version of Michael Myers, which is another reason that I watched this. And the direction by Givens is actually fine. But the script by Raven Magwood - who is in the film as Portia - and Paul Lindsay doesn't give her much to work with. It's the much-told story of a haunted house - it was filmed at Madworld Haunted Attractions in Piedmont, South Carolina - having a real killer inside it and there aren't many twists or turns, other than the cast being almost all black and having one token white friend, which is a nice inversion from the traditional slasher.
There was one part that made me laugh and that's when one character went back for her earring. I've seen dumber things in slashers but I don't know when. Desi Banks and Marquise C. Brown seem to be the biggest names in the cast but were new to me; they're fine in their roles. The most entertaining thing about this movie? The IMDB reviews that are either 10 out of 10, proclaiming that this is a classic, or 1 out of 10 and taking incredible shots at this movie.

"Haunted Trail" is a cinematic misstep that feels like it stumbled into the world from the reject pile of '80s slasher films. You know, the ones with enough cheese to make Wisconsin jealous? Yeah, this one's got more holes in its plot than a Swiss cheese factory.
The plot? Well, it's as groundbreaking as reheated leftovers: A killer on a Halloween trail picking off the characters like ripe apples from a tree. But hold your breath because here comes the cardboard-cutout characters straight out of a bargain bin: The stereotype druggie fellas making you root for the killer to shut them up - Materialistic divas whose priorities are as shallow as a puddle in the desert - And an explanation for the killings so trivial you'd think it was a rejected subplot from a Scooby-Doo episode. And oh, the ending! Prepare yourself for a dose of unrealistic, eye-rolling closure that's about as satisfying as a deflated balloon.
The director, in an impressive display of sheer audacity, managed to turn sexist stereotypes on their hideous heads. Congratulations, gentlemen of the cast, you've out-screamed the scream queens! The performances? Dire would be an understatement. The men flounder around like headless chickens doing a parody of the pigeon dance. While the women, well, they're their usual scream-and-run fodder selves. There's an Asian cheerleader zombie who actually breathes some life into the mess of a movie, but she's criminally underused. Why not put her in the driver's seat instead of this train wreck?
As for the production value, if "rushed" had a visual representation, it would be this film. Scenes look like they were patched together in a hurry, leaving the whole thing resembling a mishmash of half-baked ideas struggling to find their footing. And the cherry on top? The unceasing screams of the male cast will make you wish for a mute button faster than screaming out, "Bad horror movie," in an annoying, shrill, whining voice.
Would I heartily recommend "Haunted Trail"? Not even to my most amoral enemy. It's a cinematic black hole where precious time irretrievably goes to die in ear-bleeding agony. Ten minutes in, you'll be questioning your life choices and ruefully contemplating angrily pressing that stop button, like it is the salvation switch on a sinking ship's lifeboat winch. Bestow yourself a favour - skip this haunted mess. Your sanity will sincerely thank you.

Weak Premise for a Generic Slasher

Yeah, I'll preface by saying I'm white so as some other reviewers have said I might not get it but here goes. This is an incredibly boring movie that brings nothing new to the genre and doesn't provide much in the way of entertainment. Many of the characters seem like stereotypes you could find in any 70's slasher, stoners included. The kills themselves are fairly unspectacular and forgettable. My biggest problem is the entire reason why.
A murder spree because you got pulled out of a football game? Are you being serious? There are ridiculous reasons for slashers but that's just weak.
I'll conclude by saying this is far from being the worst slasher out there and shows a decent grasp of filmmaking. That doesn't make this good however and unless you are simply throwing on a film for background noise or to say that you've seen it, it's just not worth watching.

Not great but much better than expected

Caught this on Tubi, while playing "Tubi roulette" (where I browse to the horror section, close my eyes, scroll, and randomly pick) and assumed the worst, because, well... that's the case more often than not. So to be fair, my expectations were low, but I was happily surprised. It was actually pretty decent.
I mean, it's not reinventing the wheel. Nothing real new or wild. It's a teen-something slasher where the kids are picked off one by one, until the killer and their motives are revealed at the end. Pretty standard stuff. But down competently. And right off the bat I was on board just because of the setting.
This movie is set at a seasonal haunt known as the titular "Haunted Trail", which seems to be a combination of multiple standard haunted house/maze sections, combined with outdoor haunted trail sections in between each maze. A group of friends arrive, in a few different groups, with plans to meet there, which automatically gives the movie license to have different groups to be attacked without the other immediately realizing the danger. There are also some rivalries, and romantic triangles going on within the group, which adds flavor to the characters, but is thankfully light enough to not bog things down for long. They are also mostly African American characters in this group of friends, so it's a nice change of pace from the standard makeup of most of these generic teens in your average slasher movie, and the dialogue feels like a lot of it was improvised to come off more natural, and genuine than the stiff generic dialogue a lot of slashers seem to employ. I appreciated that. Because of this, the acting is pretty decent and believable.
The set and props were also surprisingly good. Everything looked pretty genuine to the setting, and the lighting and cinematography was also surprisingly well done. To be honest, the only real letdown for me was that the kills were very tame, and mostly occurred off screen. And the ones that didn't were pretty mediocre. Not a ton was spent on that, obviously. That and the killers motivation seemed to make no sense. I won't spoil anything, but you have to question why, if someone sensed to focus their ire on a single individual, why they would go through this elaborate of a scheme, and kill so many other people pointlessly. Also, if their plan had succeeded, their goal would have still failed because the people that they killed were needed to make the killer successful in the future, so they just doomed their own goals by killing them
Anyway, decent movie, with a "huh?" ending, plot holes, and weak kills, but despite all that, still well worth watching.

This was a great movie it wasn't scary but the acting was on point I never expected to be scary considering desi and Reggie was in it and seeing a black Michael Myers made me laugh yes it is indeed a great movie to watch with friends or family and if you're looking for a good laugh definitely give this a watch. And I gave it a 10 out of 10 because why not no need to hate and I support all the actors and actresses.

I found HAUNTED TRAILS a disappointing film that may not be worth your time. The movie contained several plot holes that made it difficult to follow, such as the killing of characters where the trail employees seemed to appear in the same space after the incident without noticing it. The movie's ending was unsatisfying and left a lot to be desired. Aimless, running around the woods without direction, though the trail is marked. When the characters can go around the buildings, they choose to go through them. Overall, HAUNTED TRAILS was a disappointing film that failed to deliver. Seriously, skip it and watch something worth it. It's time I can never get back.

This movie was a hard watch, not because it was scary or because it was too gory or anything like that. It was hard to watch because of one of the characters. The guy was so genuinely annoying it was hard to not want to just stop the movie and put it off. All he did was scream and shout like he was at some kind of comedy show - he wasn't funny, he wasn't likeable and offered absolutely nothing to the movie. Despite being one of the leads, if not the absolute lead.

A main character is never strongly established in the plot. There's no real plot at all anyway, just a group of friends going through a haunted house being picked off by an obvious killer. The "twist" was predictable. Ending just leaves the audience stumped. No standout acting from any performers involved. Film doesn't look bad, shot professional enough though some scenes weren't lit well. Might in fact be the best thing that can be said for it. Textbook bad exploitation-style movie writing and with director having no style or flair when it comes to horror elements or skill with performers the overall film is a complete bore. Not recommended.
