Being ruined by the woke agenda
stuart_jarman20 June 2021
This episode was ok and would have been better did it not continually support the woke agenda with divisive and false narratives. Wish this just went back to how the first series was as there are still glimpses of a good series.

Unwoke alley in the reviews 😂

Not a great episode for me but it surprises me that the right-wing crowd isn't loving the political commentary. An officer on the law is the victim, not some 'thug'. Come on guys David Dorn is being victimized by the police department he serves it.

Blue lives matter! 😂😂😂

Cue The Shining Theme
Blockbuster_Rewards_Card20 January 2021
This episode was made for horror fans. From exorcisms, to the theme from "The Shining" on the piano, this episode included enough horror movie references to keep me excited. The case for this episode was clever, and the characters were sharp and witty as always. But I think this was the first time that the show might've addressed a trauma Malcolm has that wasn't from Martin. He clearly has a hostility towards religion that goes past the average non-believer, and I'm very intrigued to see where this point goes. The acting, as always, in phenomenal. Michael Sheen brings horror and charisma to his character. Tom Payne continues to effortlessly show everything Malcolm is feeling through his facial expressions alone. Frank Harts continues to deliver an honest and heart-wrenching performance as a black man facing racial injustice. And those are just the actors highlighted in this episode. I'm really not sure why other reviewers are being harsh, but I'll keep reading them and trying to understand. I hope all the people who are angry with the show will keep an open mind as well!

Still great, unless you're a Q-flake

Excellent show, delightfully creepy. I love the dive into Malcom's mind, and his beyond twisty family.

Ignore the season 2 rants. Those are people who go around attacking Every. Single. Thing. they can get their hands on that dates to address real life problems.

used to be my favorite show

Including real life issues into TV shows is ok only when it is done right... here it is not. Poorly done and completely unnecessary. Will not continue watching.

It's still good

This is a great, horror type episode. The only people that seem to hate it are the ones who don't believe racism is real or the ones who think if you talk about racism, it makes it worse. JT did a great job at showing exactly what it's like. Just because some of you can ignore it, doesn't mean it doesn't actually happen to people who look like me. And that was a minor aspect of this episode. The horror in this one is awesome!

Silly and tonally awkward episode
c5150-8634413 September 2023
Binging this series after it ended - so far it's been a fun guilty pleasure (at least the first season was), but I wonder if it's episodes like this that caused viewership to decline. The police racism subplot with JT (which was rather clumsily introduced in the last episode along with all the COVID references) was a bit eye-rolling to begin with, but the decision to continue it in this episode where it has to awkwardly sit alongside a very silly exorcism storyline, was just plain dumb. As for the main plot, yeesh. Maybe in The Exorcist they should've checked Reagan's room for lead paint first? I'll give it a generous three stars for the sister's turtleneck joke.

Another good show getting ruined
anyon-as26 January 2021
Season 1 got me hooked. Season 2 is turning me away with it's forced, fake/unnatural, and out of place political agenda. I watch this show to get an escape. If I want to be educated about racial issues - real or pure political driven, I could turn to CNN or any of the news outlets. But, no, they just have to put something here too to ruin it. Compared with some other show which goes all in and has become unwatchable, this one does that as a side track, guess there is still hope.

When watching season 1, JT was a good detective doing a good job. Never came to my mind that he is black. Now he is a prop for the show runner to do the political agenda. Is that really progress?

unnecessary wokeness
recca122427 March 2021
This is not that kind of show. TV companies needs to stop forcing in unnecessary social issues into the stories. We are watching shows to relax, not to be anxious :d.

Another victim of "wokeness"
scot-4374329 January 2021
Last season was quite enjoyable to watch. This one is inferior in every way - and yet another show that seems hell-bent on pushing social and political agendas. Great job, Fox... another promising program killed by "wokeness".

Another great show trashed
jareddb-465821 February 2021
What used to be my favorite currently airing show has quickly become another one to drop altogether. They have doubled and tripled down on the woke political bs they seem hellbent on shoving into this series this season.

Bad acting, directing, producing, etc.
leh028720 January 2021
I like the show overall, but have always had to overlook some subpar acting. Jessica's character is always over the top and unbelievable. The guy who plays Malcolm is usually okay, but occasionally over acts. In this episode (and last week's), pretty much everyone is overacting or just acting poorly. Even Lou Diamond Phillips and Michael Sheen. To top it off, the writing is cliche and stilted. I'm not sure if there were producing or directing changes since the first season, but I don't think I'll be able to stick around much longer if the rest of the season is like the first two episodes.

Don't ruin the show
johnnyboygrant27 March 2021
Leave the blm rubbish out of the show. JT and Dani are cops, end of story. The only way race stops being an issue is when it stops being an issue.

Another one bites the dust.
lynpalmer13 February 2021
Another show gives in to the lie of systematic racism but tries to slide it in by by having a cop the victim. This way they can say they are still supporting police. Sure racism exists but systematic racism is a myth. Explain how it is real when there are so many black politicians, police chiefs and officers. Stop preaching your divisive, woke drivel.

I thought Episode 1 was bad but this was worse
jtags-8405927 January 2021
Gave a score of 2 for a pretty terrible Ep1 of Season 2 and thought maybe it would get better from there but nope, they had to double down so I'm doing the same and this episode gets a 1. As pointed out by almost every other reviewer, shoving politics down the throat of viewers is just going to ruin your show. Hope they all enjoy their last season. I'm out.

Got here late and am currently binge watching both seasons. I've really been enjoying this series until this one. S2E2 The "woke" nonsense ruined the entire episode.
