A nice way to pass the time
Jodie_ds21 April 2021
Whimsical and sweet, the show has a great underlying message of being kind to yourself - particularly if life has not ended up going the way you thought it might. Some well-known character actors bring warmth and not a little slapstick style humour to the situation. Added bonus is the songs that were super popular in the last half of the 90s.

Motivating series but weak storyline, handsome hero
harineem-209-52548810 July 2022
This is my third K-Drama(second which I watched completely). I don't like the plastic look of actresses so I picked this as the premise was original where a washed out 37 year old meets her past 17-year old self. The lead actress seemed less plastic and more real.

The story simply doesn't have much elements for that many episodes and I was disappointed that the time travel element was not explored further at all.

The lead actor is extremely good looking and lights up the screen every time he comes on. There is some extremely good acting by the 17-year old girl Re Lee, she got the balance of a confident yet narcissistic girl right on spot. I also liked Kim yun-mi who beautifully portrays her mixed feelings in every situation, her general soft character, this was a very likeable character. The biggest disappointment was the main actress who has this slow way of speaking and then pausing as if she is going to say something profound and speak something trite.

The show is quite motivating if you are feeling down so will recommend but "Secret Garden" still remains my favourite. Wish they had cast "Ha Ji-Won" for the main role, she would have taken it to a different level.

Really enjoyable
phillipjbrown25 June 2021
Perhaps not one of the classics, but it made me laugh and especially towards the ed had me in tears - though the ending is happy (watch out for a few minutes extra right at the end).

The lead actors all had it nailed and a special mention of the lovely grandma. Who has not thought what they would say to their 17 year old self but this gives that theme a delightful twist.

Plot races along with some good twists and you want to know what happens next. Enjoyed this a lot.

Good Enough
PennyReviews18 April 2021
Korean Drama " Hello, Me! " had an interesting story that is not encountered often. The fantasy- time travel element was handled nicely, the family drama was quite impactful and the character development on point. However, the drama didn't manage to leave a mark and it's quite forgettable.

The story, first of all, centers around Ha Ni, who's the complete opposite of who she was when she was a teenager. And, even though the reasons why she turned out to be this way were there, the drama failed to explore them properly, though her family drama was strong and supported masterfully by everyone in the cast. The romance, moreover, was slow, a bit silly at first, and was often left out, set aside so that the slice of life will be more on focus. Also, the love triangle was more enjoyable for the bromance rather than the romantic vibes.

In addition, the relationship between 17-year-old Ha Ni and 37-year-old Ha Ni was more like a mother-daughter than between two people of the same person. But that can be easily overlooked, as the slice of life genre often took the lead, with some heartwarming stories added here and there to enhance the main story and older Ha Ni's character. Also, the character development was just perfect, smoothly done and excellently handled. But, the ending was predictable and felt lukewarm.

So, overall, six out of ten.

A MUST WATCH
vanshikat-5457917 August 2021
This drama is just amazing. The storyline, the cast, the message, the dialogues, just everything. There were so many moments that made me smile, cry, laugh and forced me to think about certain things. Just go for it and im sure you'll love it. Just be a little patient tho, the drama takes it time to pick up the pace, and trust me its worth it.

Fun, laugh moments...but ...
ushagowri-6073624 October 2021
The problem is in looking at this movie as a time travel. Oh no. The premise of the story was great. Imagine your 17 year old self reminding you on how you planned your life only for to realise one had lost vision, self, everything. And realise that was an adult you are responsible for who you become.

In a long time ,a quiet heroine bearing her cross. The hero the free floating guy rising to a challenge. The best was Antony with his past catching up at every step to derail him. The character grew from uni dimensional to many shades. The irritating bit was the younger self. Screechy and in your face.

Enjoyed the moments of fun and tears.

Breezy, light weight with a powerful premise-are you now who you thought you would be at 17?

Interesting take on Time Travel
PalmBeachG21 May 2022
Hello, Me! On Netflix. Fantasy K-Drama about a 37 year old named Ban Ha-ni, who is not happy how her life turned out and her own 17 yer old self time travels to join her to bring happiness back into her life. This is one story that I can actually say that I enjoyed the secondary character named Anthony more than the main characters. Anthony was the popular Captain and bad-boy at the Highschool where Ban Ha-ni attended. Ban Ha-ni was the popular Queen of the school. Anthony wanted to date her but Ban Ha-ni was mean to him, playing mean pranks on him, the only girl to refuse him, but he still considered her his "first love". Of course they meet later in life at age 37 and he is now a popular K-drama idol/actor that has plastic surgery and she is not so cute anymore. They do not recognize each other and Anthony's encounters with her are just hysterical. He makes the entire series in my opinion. I was disappointed in the ending as the main characters did develop their relationship along the way and the ending was dragging on the last 2 episodes and the final ending wasn't all that....

Amazing and impactful overall
samplefreeze16 August 2021
The episodes were dragging on a bit at first but the characters kept becoming more like able. I like the character development of the chef and his father. I also loved Re Lee's acting throughout the show. Young ban hani's character development was subtle and slow but well handled. The issues of guilt and grief were explored very well imo. Loved Anthony's character development; a lot of depth for a side character. I liked the slow relationship growth between the chef and Ban hani. And the humor was endearing and top-notch.

Silly, Lighthearted Comedy - Not For Me
fake_moviestar13 April 2021
Take it for what it is and I think you will like it - that would be my advice for those thinking about watching this show.

It is silly and lighthearted, and this was more of a drama-dy than anything else. The plot is very simple, and honestly the whole premise was pretty dumb, there was almost no point in the time-traveling element. There is literally zero romance, so I am not sure why this was put in that genre.

I personally really disliked this show, it was way too silly and felt rather pointless.

The "snacks" story line felt SO forced it ended up being very cringe, especially in the moments where they tried to make eating snacks "poignant." For some this will be a cute, silly show that will make you smile. However, even for those that enjoy this type of show it was pretty mediocre, and I personally think even if I had liked/enjoyed it, it would still only deserve a 5 at best. My rating will be much lower because I disliked it.

Fun and Cute Drama
nancysabra-951739 April 2021
(NO SPOILERS) Let's start off with the genre and type of drama this is. This drama is a very heartfelt and heartwarming one in many ways, be it family troubles or life advice and change. It is also a very bright and comedic one with funny and cool characters that make the drama happy. About the characters, I'll be talking about the two male love interests and female lead. I have probably never seen a love triangle where both male love interests have full personalities and have a lot to offer especially with connections to the female. They both have a very upbeat and joyful comedic personality that makes you fall in love with them and their cuteness and you can tell they actually both really care for the female. Although in most dramas the men both hate each other in this drama they have playful nagging here and there but it's all harmless funny fun. They aren't the typical love interests that only have looks and money. It makes you happy either who ends up with her. The drama however does not focus on the love triangle the most but rather on the female lead and her journey to self-love and acceptance. For reference, the main male love interest is most similar to Min-Hyuk from Strong Woman Bong-Soon and Joon-Hyung from Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo. As for the lead female, I'm happy they made her ct her age and act mature rather than make her the typical shy submissive weakling like every drama and infantilize her she is an adult woman and that's what she acts like.. Overall this is a very light and fun drama to watch when you're chilling! I was very satisfied by the ending and this might be one of my favourite rom/coms. Hope this was helpful.

Light, heartwarming drama
sini-2001 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The drama is very heartwarming, cute, fun yet with serious messages in it too. The character Ha-ni is very sympathic and realistic than most dramas (average looking, older, no much makeup). I liked her character a lot, how genuine and hard working she is. The only thing I disliked was her hair change in last eps: I liked her long, ponytail hair much more, gave her more sympathy. Her short and more makeup face felt.. off, OOC. But maybe it was a change and develop for the character. The slow relationship with Yu-hyeon was nicely done too, and liked they were platonic friends that slowly became something more (also them staying just friends would have been so nice too!) Anthony seemed such annoying and not needed character, but his character development was well made.

There was some plot holes, like how young Ha-ni adjusted to the future so fast (and learned to use smart phone so fast?) I also wondered, how didn't any stuff that happened, affect the future, if young 17 year old Ha-ni remembered what happened to her own self? Wouldn't she change herself and affect choices, therefore changing 37 year old Ha-ni's life? Or maybe she simply forgot her trip to the future. But if you ignore those and enjoy the drama, you will love it for sure.

A bag of air
Park_Min19 August 2023
The first 2 episodes were good enough for an introduction but the rest didn't hold up and ended up being a boring slice of life. The plot may seems interesting on the surface but they ended up being more like a mother-daughter relationship defying its original premise. They simply neglected the unique situation we were presented at the beginning. Regardless, it still didn't do a good job carrying its message despite having a very relaxed 16 episodes. It's still watchable, Yoo Hyun and his father were the most appealing part. Hard to recommend it otherwise, you better off watch it if you ran out of every thing.

Lovely hidden gem.
tasnimbenhalim2 April 2021
When Netflix first panned this new K-Drama, they got it wrong. Humourous and clear-eyed, Hello Me offers reflections on family, generational and class dynamics and relationships with consistently compelling and heartwarming content and acting. A clear thumbs up.

Silly, lacking in substance
Glue2Screen19 January 2023
This was a silly drama with a hint of time travel but not really. It wasn't anything new nor a lot of substance in the plot. It was a bit cringy and forced at times that made it feel off-beat. The side characters were rather cliched and very flat.

I made it through most of it at 1.5 speed as it just was pretty predictable. I felt they should have done a bit more with the time travel element as this just felt like An adaptation of Scrooge being visited by ghosts and changing life around.

Overall, if you enjoy very brainless, kind of over the top ridiculous but wholesome series...this would be up your alley.

foolish people.
naorsalat1 March 2024
The absurdity of the handsome young man whom the heroine must marry in the end. There are no important memories between them at all. He always calls her an old lady, and plays the role of an idiot to the point of annoying stupidity. How can she marry him and leave the person who loved her since childhood and lived his life in her memory? This makes you feel like you are living in a world full of important, trivial, and foolish people.

The main characters do not have any similarity in external features or internal nature, which does not help you integrate at all.

The 17-year-old is creative and bright, but the 37-year-old plays a boring and uncomfortable role.

Very very bad.

the 37 year old and the 17 year old are too different looking for the illusion that they are the same person to work
milofergusemily20 May 2023
This drama has some really wonderful elements and could work. But it is just to hard to merge the time travel characters as one person. Because that is not believable then it strains all the other pieces of the drama.

It is not just a matter of looks. The 17 year old had mastered fame and self love. The way the father dies does not succeed in explaining the difference between the 17 year old and the 37 year old.in these areas. The gap is just too wide and this leaves a lot of work for the viewer.

I think both the older and younger heroine are good but in the end, there is a casting issue as they do not have the same resonance or energy, they do not read as unified enough to make the movie's main gimmick work. This gimmick was a long shot with humans. - They should try a anime version. That might work.
