Predictable, Silly, But Cute Series!
spasek22 February 2021
If you're looking for something fun and light, you really can't go wrong with "A Love So Beautiful." Frankly, there have been better shows involving a girl who falls in love with a boy where the girl (for some reason) isn't very bright compared to the object of her affection. "Good Morning Call" and "Mischievous Kiss: Love in Tokyo" are better series.

This is a story that has been done a number of times, although the twist toward the end finally gives it some brand of uniqueness despite knowing how it's going to end. Not all shows that are predictable are necessarily bad.

Shin Sol-Yi is a young, passionate girl, who's quite naive and also very immature for her age. Unfortunately, this doesn't really change as she gets older. She starts out as a 17-year-old girl, acting like she's 10. She ends as a twenty-something woman acting like a 12-year-old. She whines and pouts, and too often this becomes a little annoying.

I've lived and worked in China, Korea, and Taiwan. And I've told people: take the girl's age and subtract ten years to get her true maturity. It rarely fails.

Cha-Heon is the object of Sol-Yi's affection. He's the top student, but he's a bit cold and aloof when it comes to Sol-Yi and her more than obvious interest in him.

The performances are pretty good. Yo-Han Kim (Cha-Heon) is a bit wooden in his role. So Ju-Yeon (Shin Sol-Yi) has the cutest dimples in the world and a million-dollar smile to boot. I only wished that she'd been able to bring more depth and dimension to her character as well as giving her character a bit more maturity to make her more appealing and less annoying.

The kissing scenes in this show are some of the worst I've ever seen. Wooden, tight-lipped with absolutely no feeling or authenticity at all. It was quite obvious that the actors and actresses did NOT like doing them.

Still, this is a fun series to watch. It's nothing too special, but it's a solid feel-good story that will likely put a smile on your face.

I love this show
ninchenbienchen8 March 2021
I love the chinese original version (watched it twice) and I love this version as well! They really did a great job with this remake and while I constantly compared the cast and characters of both versions in the beginning, I grew to love the korean cast so much I stopped comparing them along the way and only saw them for who they were.

The plot is simply about life as a teenager and everything one has to deal with while growing up - from grades, career choices and friendship to your first love.

And here's the thing some people apparently forget about: During 80% of the show the characters are teenagers so OF COURSE they're going to act impulsive, immature or even mean sometimes. As a teenager you're confronted with emotions you haven't felt before or at least not to that depth and you don't know why you feel that way or how to deal with it so yes, you're gonna do and say things you don't mean. And this is exactly what this show is about: growing up with all of your firsts and mistakes you make along the way!

I bet none of you were perfect as teenagers either so don't be too hard on the characters and their behavior along the way.

Instead, enjoy this light drama and feel yourself thrown back to your teenage/high school years.

The series follows the life's and loves of a group of students over their lives at school onto the success in their particular careers. A light fluffy story with the occasional very funny incidents. If you want an easy watch with heartwarming friendships you won't go wrong here.

So sweet!!

I Love this show to pieces! It's soo Well done and Beautiful, just absolutely Amazing! This Show has the Worthy to stand on its own And not be known for being a remake to the original Show, that's how good it is! The Charecters are so Properly Developed; shin shol-i, Heon, Woo Dae sung! And the Most Suprising fact is that Some Of the actors Are Entry Level and have just started Acting (Like the actor for Heon, the main male protagonist). I Was soo shocked to hear that For how well he played his charecter in the show! 10/10

Good one time watch.

Warning: Spoilers
I thought this was a good short watch(only about 24 mins per episode). I wouldn't say I loved it because there were a few things that bothered me in this show. Maybe I'm being too critical but I still want to share my thoughts.

First I'll start with what I loved about this show.

1. Ji hwan and Ha-yeong's (2nd couple) romance and chemistry was spot on. I absolutely adored them right from the first episode. They looked and felt so good together. I'm glad they made the decision to pair them. I even like them more than the main couple!

2. The lead Shin sol-i has a great personality, very relatable at times.

3. 2nd male lead (Woo Dae Sung) is out of this world. Despite his difficult situations, he always tried to put a smile on other's face and kept a positive attitude. He never projected his issues on anyone and genuinely just wanted to feel loved and be with his friends. He deserves way better. His character is so well built, and he does the sweetest things for the lead Shin sol-i. I adored him and hoped for a better development for him. I feel like they may have explored his character way more than the 1st lead. Which is why I loved and connected with him way more than Cha Heon (the 1st male lead)

4. I also liked Kand ha-young(the girl best friend) Her character wasn't explored much but she was a good friend at all times.

Now moving on to what I didn't love about this show,

1. Right from the beginning I just couldn't convince myself of the character Shin sol-i. Mainly because the actress that played her looked easily in her late 20s. It felt weird watching her act as a school kid and that too a cute innocent one. It felt very off putting, especially when everyone else looked very believable, even Cha Heon looked spot on as a school kid. However, I liked Shin Sol-i better in the prologue episodes where the actress acted more of her age. I also didn't enjoy her acting very much. Her look did not match the character she played. I still feel like another actress could've played her better, someone like park bo-young. She would be perfect!

2. Alot of the conflicts in the show are rarely addressed properly, leaving the viewers to just connect the dots or assume things. For instance when the main couple get back together in the future, there is no clear moment that tells the viewers that they decide to date again, it just happens and it got me very confused.

3. Another moment that had me very confused was the scene where Jin-hwan confesses his feelings formally to Ha-yeong, he has his hair coloured red and without glasses. The next scenes after that was him in his usual hair colour and glasses. I couldn't understand if the next scenes were a flashback or not. And he completely avoids her after confessing his feelings, like he is mad at her. It was very confusing as a viewer cause I kept expecting something to lead to the confession or for anyone to even address it. But they never did.

4. Cha Heon is the most emotionally unavailable and unlikeable character there is. Even his med school friend in the end of the show mentions it and how nobody would want to date him. He really does the absolute bare minimum and gets Sol-i wrapped around his finger. It felt a bit off putting to see him get the world from her and him being the least impressed or bothered by it. It made me question Shin sol-i's character. Woo Dae Sung was offering her literally everything, He went above and beyond for her. She should've raised her standards after seeing Dae sung's efforts. But I couldn't help but think how she really is okay with getting the crumbs Cha Heon leaves for her.

The one time I actually loved Shin Sol-i's character is when she broke up with Cha Heon and worked on herself. She doesn't budge even when he comes back. She stands her ground. But they never address on working on the issues they had in the past. They never work out a solution and just jump straight into dating. I had to just assume that since Cha Heon wasn't in medical residency anymore he'd have better control of his time. This show had alot of loose threads.

You can watch this for the female lead itself! Omg, she's so cute and naive that you just can't take your eyes off her. The story's really great. I really recommend this drama :)

Warning: Spoilers
After watching the heavy but beautiful K-drama Crash landing on you, I needed something more cheerful and lightweight to watch.. so I decided to give this show a try.

It's an okay high school show filled with friendships, crushes, love, dreams, etc... I have no idea what Sol-I saw in Heon though, besides from him being handsome. He seems like a very boring, stiff guy. I got a bit disappointed every time Sol-I turned down the insanely handsome Dae-Sung who treated her so well throughout the years.. even if he made a weird "look how rich I am" statement to Sol-I in the end when he asked her to be his girlfriend.

I found it super strange that Sol-I freaked out by the thought of being intimate with Heon, her boyfriend of many years that she had known since childhood. And how awkward they were with each other in general.. The stiff cheek kisses they gave each other for example.. like they were 13 years old or something. I had a hard time seeing chemistry between them, but still rooted for them in the end because I'm a sucker for love, and Heon finally started to make an effort.

Cute and Innocent Love Series
EcuaLuz5 March 2021
Super adorable series! It was so funny and so cute. Total feel good series. Reminded you of all the little moments that feel momentous when we fall in love. Highly recommend as it's entertainment value was high. All the characters were great and all the storylines nicely developed. While predictable it was a joy to watch. Another great K-drama!!!

Story was good
myeh-477456 December 2022
I think if I hadn't watched the Chinese version first, I probably would've enjoyed this one more. With that said, the main problem I had with this one was the casting. While both lead characters did their best to portray their character, the main problem I had was their age disparity. It was too obvious that he was much younger than her. It was fine for him when he was in high school. But for her, it was pretty clear that she wasn't that age. Fast forward to when they are suppose to be in college and beyond. It fits her, but it was hard to picture him as a medical student let alone a doctor unless he's suppose to be Doogie Howser. He just looked too young and obviously younger than her. And I think that distracted a bit from the overall story. But as a whole, the series is still pretty good and if we take it separate from the other series, it's a decent watch.

predictable yet beautiful
tabithafoster-5082716 February 2021
This story follows your typical love triangle scenario, however it's done really nicely. it's a sweet romance and you get really attached to the characters. the scenes are all really clean, and the cast is all good looking too (which is a bonus ig). would recommend if you're currently crushing on someone ;)

This show was quite dumb, i'm not sure why the ratings are so high. Also why was the first time the ml kissed the main character, when she was drunk. That was weird.

jecalita21 February 2021
Can't help but to notice she female principal actress doesn't look young enough ... her profile is according to her age 27ish... She is pretty but doesn't match with the test of the cast unless she is smiling ... still a good show to watch

I first saw the korean version and then the chinese version but honestly for me the korean version is much cuter and sensible . I know by reading the reviews that majority of people liked the chinese version but in my opinion korean version is better. TheML is shy, cute and i thinks his emotions are the main thing that holds the show together. TheFL seems a bit older according to a high schooler but still her acting is good. Thesupporting role also did a wonderful job. Accordingto me korean version is the best and compiled.

Warning: Spoilers
I liked the story espeically the time i t was set in the highschol time the time of mistakes and love and who knows what else one thing i will give these dramas is the side love story they add to the story they are writing makes the show and story just a little stronger

the main actor really didnt say much besides just acting some scenes based on his emotions when whatever plot was coming up at the moment ... the love struck highschool girl chasing the boy finally gets him in the end it was sweet .

The friends were very enjoyable

i felt like all the chasing she did , and tro find out that he likes her as much asa she likes him and then to leave the relationship dont even bother waiting for him or giving a chance really felt like a highschool move and was a waste of time

ending 7/10 story 8/10.

Not Good Enough
PennyReviews21 March 2021
The Korean Remake of the Chinese hit drama " A Love So Beautiful " fails to deliver, as it was too short and too cheesy.

The story centers around high schoolers who are feeling the first specs of love. The first part of the drama is actually dedicated to their youthful years and, failing, however, to pass down a nostalgic feeling that most of the school dramas do, especially when they are placed in the past. The second part of the drama focuses, on the other hand, on their adult lives and that's when the drama starts, with the main relationship being tested and sometimes skips that weren't handled smoothly.

I guess the main problem that this drama faces is its short episodes. They try to have small cases per episodes, but the actual story can't be developed properly due to that. Another minus that appeared was the cliche of many situations that arose. From the old camera work to the cheesy romantic gestures, but, especially, to the female lead's reactions to everything that were beyond childish and ended up being annoying, the drama is just too predictable and not because its a remake. Come to think about it, the original was closer to the melodrama premises, with a focus on their adult life, family problems and more grown up drama. On the contrary, this one is more immature and gets boring easily.

At least the side characters were interesting and added some entertainment here and there when it was needed. The performances were pretty good from everyone in the cast as well.

So, overall, 3.5 out of 10.

Couldn't Stop Watching
lokis_mistress11 August 2021
This is one of my top ten Kdramas for sure. And that's weird, because I just tried to explain it to my sister and all I could really think of was "its about this silly girl who is sweetly obsessed with her completely indifferent neighbour. And then there are some other great side stories." But there was no HEAVY DRAMA to report. No crazy out there story that draws you in each episode because you MUST KNOW WHAT HAPPENS Next. She's like... then why have you gone through a box of Kleenex?

What it is is one of the most well written, superbly acted, incredibly authentic stories about how beautiful the nothings in life can be. The complexity of the characters without needing horrific scenes involving alcoholic or abusive parents, drugs, suicides or orphanages is a massive testament to how well every single character is written and acted. Even the sub-sub-characters are memorable.

Even by KDrama standards, this relationship moves at an ultra snails pace. But it's not at all difficult to let it play out in its own time. With 24 episodes not a single one was wasted, or rushed. The pace was perfect. And even though we completed the arc, I'd watch it again and would most definitely watch a second installation.

When you realize how many of the actors are new to the game you have to give HUGE bonus points to the casting department (and utterly forgive any and all blips that resulted in extra takes! Thank you for the blooper reel 😊).

Get this cast and crew together again. The whole crew. From music to writers to editing and every detail in between, this team is magic.

Great except the female lead character
chsan-9960617 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This series would've been great if it weren't for the annoying female lead. The problem is that she is shown to be a goofy teenager with a crush on a classmate and a knack for messing up, which is fine for a teenager. But she grows up and her character doesn't change at all. She has no self respect and makes decisions on whims without introspection. I didn't get why she broke up with the boy and why she ended up getting back with him. The premise for both these developments were very flaky. The side characters were really good though. Specially her friend Ha-Young. Also, I wish Dae-sang had had the sense to ask her out in the 10 years he knew her instead of waiting all that time. Overall it was entertaining but could've been better.

Warning: Spoilers
Please be patient before watching. The plot is light and interesting. The cast is wonderful. The actions that take place here make you feel many different emotions and experiences. Quite a long drama, as there are usually 16 episodes. I really like high school dramas. There are all the types that will make the viewer fall in love with this series. Wonderful! Usually someone gets love and someone doesn't, which is sad, but it's all for the best, so the heart stays unbroken. This is really good.

Sweet love story
mommycoppel31 March 2021
I absolutely loved this show. I felt connected with the characters right away and couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. The adorable friendships that formed between the five major characters is captivating and so genuine. Such loyalty and love that they all had for one another is inspiring and uplifting.

Love??!!
skyescape-564-68330221 February 2021
This series has nothing to do with love. The title is totally wrong!! Only if the author enjoys masochism and for that reason he named the series Love. The main male role, a man antipathetic, non-communicative, arrogant, rude, overbearing ... and it is not clear to me how a normal female person can fall in love with such a person. Why is the main female character doomed to this kind of love to constantly run after a jerk who ignores her. And the main question is what did she fall in love with, what was his trait that made her fall in love with him ?! ''A Love So Beautiful'' what a joke...

Absolutely LOVE this show!
bookpig-5272124 August 2021
This show was so cute and it was my first K-drama. Although it DID get a bit cheesy at times it was so cute and sweet! Cha-Heon and Shin So-i (the protagonists of the show) are such a sweet couple with great chemistry and they're absolutely perfect together. The creators did a wonderful job and I recommend this 100%.

Warning: Spoilers
This show is... amazing. Like I'm is usually not a fan of K-dramas as they've never been my thing but I was bored and came across this on Netflix and I've been hooked since day 1. Soli is a such a good protagonist and at one point, I was scared they were gonna leave her as the "I've fallen in love and I can't get up" trope but I was so happy when she realized her worth and effects the relationship had to her real life. Heon is amazing both the character and his actor. Upon being so attractive, he's also such an annoying(but in a good way) character. I enjoyed their dynamic so much throughout and live watching their relationship grow and prosper. BUTTTT. MY GAVOURITE CHARACTER IS FOREVER DAE-SUNG. I LOVE THAT MAN AND HE DESERVES SO MUCH OF THE WORLD. I instantly fell I love with him when he was in the screen and throughout his journey. Honestly 25.78/10 for this show. I'm really glad I started up till 7am binging it :)
