It's a start plenty of room for improvement
keyonaj6 April 2021
My main issue with this show was Kaylon. Do you see how easy it was for her to infiltrate the show and come after a woman of color? That was the most infuriating thing about this show. Now Marie I love her. However she needs to learn how not to react to everything. There are ways to go about it without coming off like the stereotypical angry black woman. Latrice you do a lot of mean girl stuff and expect no repercussions. Now I love how your husband is with you. You can tell he genuinely loves you. But honey that talking about folks and snickering with your friends about it is very childish. Now Dr. Liles I will call her that. She earned that title. But that victim role you was playing is not it honey. Then to state you never experienced racism. I almost threw my remote at the tv. White ppl look for ppl like you to say see there is no racism. Hell Kaylon played you like a fiddle and you still don't realize it. As for Leteisha I so love her through and through. She knew how to keep it G and classy at the same time. What she did not do was allow the other ladies to down talk Marie. She respected the loyalty Marie has shown her and reciprocated it. Marie also was so open about the ups and down about her relationship with her husband. I love them both. They are still making it happen together. And finally the one that had to grow on me the bubbly Tambra. She too kept it 100 about her choices in life. So all in all I think the show is great. It even makes Mississippi looks livable. Even though I would never live there. Because truly where they live is a real small part of the big state of Mississippi. Mississippi still call ppl boy and gal .

It is what you expect from reality shows
rqs_00728 January 2021
I'm not a reality show fan, but I did watch this because I live in the area. I enjoy your they present the city and highlight some of its good qualities. As for the show itself, it's your typical reality. If you love this genre of TV then you will love this show. The women get your attention. The conflicts they find themselves in are a bit shallow and childish, but that's "reality" TV for you. I hope that the show succeeds since it is located in an area that rarely gets TV time. I will continue to support it for the greater good, but I do think that reality TV fans would be happy with this.

Decent Show That Can Truly Blossom If Given a Chance
atcrs-8296627 February 2022
Decent reality show once given a chance. It began rather slowly, but most do. If you're a true reality tv show watcher, you'll know that most of them don't really pick up momentum until half-way the season. And, they typically don't find their mojo, if ever, until the 2nd to 3rd season. It's much like over 80% of most tv shows. The best seasons are typically around the 3rd season but almost always not the 1st. Nonetheless, I found the show rather interesting and inspiring, and I especially like the fact that they showcase the ladies' careers and talents and some of what the city of Jackson has to offer. There's much room for improvement if they are allowed to further develop the show and allow the ladies to find their place in it.

As for all of them not being millionaires, I believe at least two are. So, that falls squarely in line with nearly EVERY Housewives franchise ever made. Out of 6 or 7 housewives, only one or two are actually houseWIVES and the rest are ex-girlfriends (not ex-wives) of former/retired pro athletes/rising pro athletes, etc. As for the show being too scripted, isn't that the case of every reality show on tv today? It's just that some of the participants are better actors than others...the better the actor, the less scripted it appears. It's for entertainment purposes only. All of them are. But, judging from the countless reality tv shows out there today (many of which have gone several seasons), it goes without saying that each were given a chance. So, let's do the same for this show and see where it takes us.

While I'm very ecstatic to see more very intelligent, very talented black women on the scene, I am however, very disappointed to see the them displaying themselves in such trifling manner (REALLY!) Come on ladies, get it together / protect your brand! I can't even stand to watch this show, as I don't want that "whatever," in my spirit.... Yall know better!!

Disgusting
sprinklesday1 February 2021
None of these people on this show are millionaires. The show is a FAKE. Do your due diligence and look them up. They do not represent African American women entrepreneurs in Jackson, MS.

Missed opportunity :(
mcm-563514 September 2022
This show could have been a great opportunity to put a spotlight on the culture of Mississippi and the talent and brilliance of its black entrepreneurs. Instead, the producers decided that they would present these women in the most terrible and unprofessional light, further reinforcing negative racial, cultural, and gendered stereotypes. This show has very little positive content and I feel disappointed in the OWN network. They have missed the opportunity to (1) showcase the true achievements of Black women in Mississippi and (2) influence the younger generations and show them what's possible. So many young people of all backgrounds need to see possible examples of southern Black women's success as our media does not portray this reality nearly enough. Many brilliant minds are produced in the universities of Mississippi including Jackson State University, Tougaloo College, Mississippi State, Alcorn State, Mississippi Valley State University, Rust College, Mississippi College, University of Southern Mississippi, and many, many more!

Dumpster fire on steroids

Good Lawd!! I can't wait till this horrible series is cancelled and forgotten. Theses heifers are a mess! They're a bunch of nobodies who somehow managed to stumble onto a reality show for no apparent reason because who are they?? You can't be the queen of a damn thing when no one even knows who you are!!! Lol!! Get a life ladies, and some better wigs while you at it. Terrible acting, terrible script, get this crap off my TV. Oprah should be ashamed!

Sigh.

Belles shouldn't have to be "bleeped". I know many true MS Belles (black and white) that should have been filmed. I'd bet they could even teach Oprah a thing or two. Or twelve. Shame.

Better each season. On season four now.
RealestTvCritic2 January 2024
Season one was indeed a mess but Belle Collective has gotten better trust me! Season four just wrapped (December 2023). Lateshia and her issues with Glen have intensified. Marie and Latrice stay away from each other but still throw the shade. Newcomers Sophia (SoGucci) and her husband JJ are hilarious and have a backstory regarding his ex-wife. SoGucci clash with Latrice. Latrice and her husband Cliff have issues as he's controlling. We see the couple clash in seasons 3 and 4. Tambra is there and she clash with newcomer Aikisha Colon (childhood friend) and other ladies. Aikisha and Lateshia clash. They both want to see a revitalized Farish Street come to fruition but clash on how to make that happen. The show is very honest and real and is one of Carlos King's best shows to be honest.

Side note: none of these women claim to be millionaires but they are indeed successful entrepreneurs and they are influential in Jackson, Mississippi. This is not a Real Housewives type of show, not pretentious at all.

What is this?
ylwashington3 March 2021
I happen upon this show and thought wow a positive drama free show. NOPE the first episode I see is a black women brunch in which they chase after the one white women in the room because she is uncomfortable about their experiences with racism. The Black women ran out of the brunch to comfort this lady.

It felt like a scene from the color purple in which Ms Millie took Oprah to see their kids and was scared of the black guys helping her with her car and became hysterical. This show is a hot mess. Horrible

I can't even bring myself to watch an episode
lebeautyboutiquelma27 August 2022
I keep hearing the same screeching hyena sound in the background "You girls are BOSSES! Ya all are BOSSES!! I'm hoping for the dignity of these ladies they are paid a ton $$$ to act & follow a script. There is NO way beautiful educated women would allow themselves to appear and sound this way on national television. I think they may have been showing previews for a Halloween episode. A really cute women (I think "Marie Monroe") was sporting a bright white synthetic wig. I would hope her stylist would have a decent budget to at least have a subtle, classy blonde look. Essentially when she is possibly a spoof of the timeless Marilyn Monroe. I would give it a chance. However, it's vary painful to even sit through a preview. Poor ladies they deserve proper representation.

Total Garbage
MBrown41116 February 2022
This is one of the worst things I've seen on tv in a while, I'm actually upset that I wasted more than 5 minutes watching this debacle. I'm pretty sure this is fake but if not God please help us all, this is a complete disaster. This show should be on the Cartoon Network between 2 am- 2:15am with about 14 minutes in commercials. I certainly hope they can find something else with substance to replace this embarrassment on the OWN Network, people certainly deserve better. The only spoiler would be if someone renewed it for even one more episode - Straight to the Garbage.

I love Belle Collective
cheryyou15 March 2021
It is really great to see a reality show that presents Black people in a positive way. These women are growing their businesses and supporting each other instead of the typical fist fights and arguments that we often see on reality TV. Love this show!!
