You Know What They Do To Kid Killers In County????
wandernn1-81-6832749 August 2021
Opening with Jerry really reeling from heavy nighttime activity with booze.....

And the gangbangers that got picked up are being targeted in county.

The LT pursues putting the heat on an apparent cop that vandalized her car.

And Bosch is really feeling it and taking the death of this little girl in the FIRE very seriously. 8/10.

Pushing the envelope

Yes, Jerry messes up again but is cut slack (for the umpteenth time in recent episodes) by Harry. The LT storyline is going where we all knew it would. But I'm having trouble hanging onto the the coattails of Maddie's trajectory. Like a couple of minutes ago she was a prepubescent teen, then a college major, now she's a ringer for Pretty Woman? OK, reading the books (in order) gives a sense of character development and clearly there are going to be some swift developments in such a young lady's life, but I get the feeling we're setting young Madison up here for a future career. No problem with that, but Bosch the drama might suffer.

Some good moments and just about keeping me with it

J. Edgar continues to struggle with his demons as the arson/murder investigation continues.

This is a relatively eventful episode with regards to the arson/murder plot. Like all good crime stories, the investigation is unfolding in a way that makes you want to find out the truth. The situation involving the character played by Vaness Born is fairly predictable but she is great when on screen.

I am interested to find out if the writers depict Maddie getting drawn into Chandler's case in a serious way that impacts her future in the law profession.

J. Edgar's state of mind has quite a bit of focus and again these scenes are plausible and well made. I stated in a previous review that this thread has the potential to become an irritation, but it is not there yet.

The arcs involving Billets and Irving tick over, but have pretty much lost me. If Irving decides to quit his job and become a full time father to the Irving's neglected premature baby I will take interest again.

Miscalculations
Hitchcoc25 June 2021
In this episode, J. Edgar makes more mistakes. Bosch is getting fed up. The expression "next time" keeps coming up as things go more and more sour. The woman who is arrested at the possible mastermind of all the violence happening gets some prison time, but there is a kicker. Maddie is getting into a closer relationship with her boss. That pyramid scheme guy is pushing the limits, avoiding the advice that lawyer is giving him. I think we might guess where this is going.

Not happy with this episode

There isn't much development in this episode. Edgar is still failing Bosch and his job, lying to his shrink and generally letting everybody down because he's so sorry he killed a man he hated, wanted to see dead and the world is better of without. Clearly most people cannot live with the consequences of their planned actions.

Maddie is helping Chandler with her disgusting fraudster of a client and not expressing a bit of concern on the moral side. The fraudster is played as suitably sleazy, but that does not seem to bother anybody, except those who are spying him from a car.

Bosch is very emotional about the tamale girl's death. Obviously, that is distressing, but I doubt you'd make for decades in his line of business if you are so sensitive. Caring about justice is one thing, having a bleeding heart is another.

The L. T. plot is so cloying and politically correct to give teeth cavities and as usual, the political plot with Chief Irving is boring me to death.
