A seriously dope comedy
robinhoodinmoscow22 February 2021
An Intervention is the deep yet light type of comedy that stays with you days after you've seen it. Kaitlin Eden delivers a memorable and subtle performance. A very original and bold take on addiction.

You "Guest" It!
kickseat9 January 2021
AN INTERVENTION is a really fun expansion of the Christopher Guest-style mockumentary comedy. Like BEST IN SHOW and WAITING FOR GUFFMAN, it features wacky, un-self-aware characters preening through odd situations (in this case, an alcoholic's intervention instead of a dog show or a community theatre play). Writer/director Dan Eden has assembled a really talented cast, and his jokes are spot-on. But his heart and insight push the film beyond light comedy, asking the audience to examine their own social media-inspired vanity. In its own weird way, AN INTERVENTION is an intervention.

A madhouse
stayed-up-late17 September 2021
A funny mockumentary much in the same vein as Christopher Guest. Given the indie nature of this movie, the performances are surprisingly well measured and authentic to the style. I especially liked the well-placed straight guy in what is otherwise a madhouse. I look forward to seeing what this director does next.

An Intervention was a surprise hit

An Intervention was a surprise hit that kept the laughs coming and never stopped. The 1 hour 40 minute runtime flew by. The cast was great and each character brings something unique to the film. This is one you do not want to miss and won't be able to stop talking about for a while.

An intervention you'll never forget...
Filmfox996 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The mock breaking news clip, featuring a horrendous car crash, starts this film off with a great punch. It was a wise choice to start with that scene, and it hooked me as a viewer. The plot of this film is clever and funny.....an awkward intervention for a car crashing, self destructive man, hosted by his high school ex-girlfriend and her husband, an unskilled addition counselor and a wild group of friends and family. The characters were developed very well....no cliched stereotypes. They were each unique and likable in their own way. The actors gave phenomenal performances. There were three characters who I felt, really stood out. Craig, the husband, was probably my favorite. I loved how the actor portrayed his character as a very pleasing sweet fellow, who bakes funeral cakes......then later on, he launches into a fury about his roast. Great acting! I also really liked Henry's bewildered expressions, as we see him throughout the film. He is nearly affectless at times and it is hilarious. Frank was another favorite character of mine....the tuxedo shirt...the pack of smokes under his shirt sleeve....his Cheshire Cat grin. Pure gold.

There were a few things that I thought could've made this film a bit better. While, I am a lover of screwball comedies, I felt like events were snowballing a little out of control at some points. There were some tangents with the writing that took us too far away from the plot. And, some scene cuts could've tightened this film up a bit. The Kansas political office scenes were funny.....and I see why one might think they'd be necessary to develop the character of Henry's sister. However, I think viewers could've understood her character without those extra scenes.

Overall, it was a laugh filled ride. I will never forget funeral cakes....for the rest of my life! I can't wait to see what high jinks and mayhem this filmmaker has in store for us in the future.

VERY Re-watchable (funny, feel good, great characters)

Great story, great message, and interesting characters keep this comedy flowing all the way until after the credits.

Being super original, with a "The Office" vibe, makes this an instant classic that I'm excited to watch a second time. The more you get into the film, the funnier it gets. Can't wait for the next movie by this crew!

Ensemble comedy with heart and plenty of laughs...
SeguinSuit2 January 2021
Enjoyed this film from beginning to end. Eden has assembled a talented troupe of performers with great chemistry and performances wrapped in the superbly executed mockumentary style. Add a great look, camera work that serves the story and is a character in and of itself, and pitch-perfect editing, this film was a welcomed start to 2021. Phil Platakis, in the role of Henry, grounds the comedy so the excellent cadre of comedians surrounding him can turn in excellent supporting performances rife with one-liners and under-their-breath jokes that keep the laughs coming till the end. Looking forward to more content from Eden, this talented group of filmmakers, and EEK! on film! Keep us updated when the Pennington bars start getting made as product tie-in's!

What a way to start off the new year! Great cast, great production work, just an all around very solid movie. Hands down Frank stole the show and should be up for some indie nominations. Excellent work by Dan, Kevin & the crew, cannot wait to see what they have in store for us next. Keep up the good work everyone!!

Christopher Guest eat your heart out
schuler-rick5 January 2021
Well thought-out characters, laugh-out-loud moments, sprinkled with some surprising sweetness. The cast has great chemistry, which takes the film to the next level, as does the camera work and editing, which both work to elevate the story.

Note: Mr. Guest, if you're reading this, I don't actually wish you any ill will. But do watch this film, I think you'd enjoy it greatly.

Funny and heartfelt movie
suefleharty6 January 2021
The dialogue just flowed from one cast member to the next in such a realistic manner. It just felt genuine and not overdone or over-rehearsed. It felt fresh and had some surprising twists that really made me laugh! They took a difficult subject and showed another side to it. Great job!

Amazing Ensemble Cast
madalynmattsey7 January 2021
Watch this movie!! The acting is spot on and the story is full of hope. There isn't a weak link in this stellar ensemble cast. It was funny, sweet, and incredibly poignant. Addiction isn't exactly a fun topic to tackle, but this cast and crew handle it with so much love and understanding. I cannot wait to see what Dan Eden and EEK! come up with next!

Improv Hilarity
NZfilmfinder21 February 2021
An intervention marries the difficult themes of addiction with comedy in this mokumentary-esque film about Henry, someone who struggling with addiction finds himself the subject of an intervention hosted by his ex-high school sweetheart and her new husband. Naturally it's a recipe for some hilarious awkward humour all captured in the style of show's like The Office and Arrested Development. The eccentric cast of characters spark and clash with one another through the course of this intervention, leading to some brilliant and funny moments which do not detract from the overall honesty and sweetness at this films core. A great pick me up.
