Frances now feels like a candle starved off oxygen, Rattery fuelled her anger, now that he's gone, she seems almost flat, like she's reached the end of a journey. This is like a mystery all in one, we get to learn who it was did George in, even if it does take an eternity to get there.
You'll notice that this episode has a longer running time, the reality is that it needed to be shorter, it feels very padded and slow at times. The opening was great, and very revealing, we learn so much about Joy.
Geraldine James as been underused for the most part, here we see just exactly what she's capable of, and she is tremendous, I would argue she is several cuts above everyone here, and finally we also get to see far more from Maeve Dermody.
When Series two returns, I hope it's with new characters and a fresh story, I think it's fair to say that they've picked the bones of this one.
I wonder if they will put this out on The BBC or ITV?
It was good, but so slow, overall they could have presented this in three or four parts, 7/10.
