A bit uneven, but still very good
simbrab22 April 2016
This one is part of a string of excellent episodes that in my opinion make season 4 the best season of How I Met Your Mother. Everything since 'The Naked Man' has been gold. And maybe that exalted standard of comparison is the only reason this particular episode doesn't seem to shine quite so bright.

It's still a very good one. The interaction of Barney and Ted is great. Ranjit has an appearance, so does Carl. There are telepathic conversations. Marshall does an amazing robot impression. We get flash forwards to scenes from later episodes ("I can jump that far", "I'm gonna win her back"). The "bingo" conversation between Barney and Ted might be one of the funniest dialogs in the entire series. It's just the Marshall and Lily storyline that, albeit being sweet, doesn't get me excited. It makes the episode a bit uneven, because the Barney and Ted storyline is awesome and way superior.

We also get to see more Marshall and Robin interaction. This has been a common feature in the last few episodes. They always appeared to be people that happen to have mutual close friends rather than actually being close friends with each other. Earlier in the season, this has been further established. Robin insulted Marshall in 'Not a father's day', Marshall insulted Robin in 'The Naked Man', and in 'Woooo!' Robin expressed the desire to spend more time with Lily without Marshall being around. And then, with 'Little Minnesota' we got an episode dedicated to the things they have in common. And they finally spend some time together outside of the group. This episode continues on that path, although the dichotomy of their respective characters becomes once again apparent. Maybe Robin respects Marshall more since she found out that he can be a bad-ass fighter...

A final thought on Ted. He seems to have become more cynical and Barney-like lately. Since he got left at the altar, he had meaningless sex with the elevator girl, Robin, and now possibly a college chick, but no new love interest. In 'The Fight', he explicitly said: "I remember that nice guy being left at the altar for a taekwondo instructor." This shattering event might have had a bigger impact on his character than he was ready to admit directly afterwards.

Remember what old Ted said in the first episode of season 3: "This is the story of how I became who I had to become before I could meet your mother."

Three Days of Snow (#4.13)

Warning: Spoilers
A fun episode about 3 days of snowstorm. The past several episodes made this season pretty good despite some disappointments in the beginning.

Ted and Barney running the bar for the night was a fun story. I actually loved to see the two together doing their bro thing, and while this is probably not the right reaction it made me want to get my own bar as well.

Lily and Marshall's stories always get to me! The two are the greatest couple, they don't need their relationship to "mature". Lily getting him a keg instead of a 6 pack was great. I also like how they got to bring Ranjit back again. And will Marshall really bring a band next time to the airport? The way the show has been going they actually might!

Another 10/10 Episode

A second 10/10 episode in a row. Top of the cap to "How I Met Your Mother" for achieving this, as not many shows do.

Plot In A Paragraph: During a historic three day snow blizzard, Ted and Barney get an opportunity to run their own bar, a dream they have shared for a while, when Carl gives them the keys to lock up Maclarens when their dates arrive. Meanwhile Marshall and Lily try to beat the odds and continue one of their cherished traditions, which is meeting ea h other at the airport when one of them has been away.

The "Cocktail" inspired bar scenes of Barmey and Ted are simply comedy gold, meanwhile the Marshall and Lily story is very, very sweet. To put it simply, it's just great TV and I never tire of this episode.

We should buy a bar!

Warning: Spoilers
I'd have to say that HIMYM is my favorite sitcom of all time, and this is definitely in my top five favorite episodes.

To give a brief summary, a snow storm hits NYC and causes some problems for the gang. The story leads the viewer to believe we're witnessing three different story lines on the same day--Ted and Barney's bar "Puzzles" (whys it called Puzzles? That's the Puzzle!), Marshall and Robin's journey to the airport, and Lily and Ranjit's search for a six-pack--but as the title says, this is three days of snow.

There were some great character interactions in this episode that outshine many of the others. No one really ever talks about it, but Ted and Barney have a real strong relationship, (even though Ted insists Marshall is his best friend) and it shows more than ever as they find a way to borrow Carl's bar for a bit.

Marshall and Robin really expanded on their relationship as well. These two characters always seem to be the most distant within the group, and rarely do they team up for a story line that only involves the two of them. (another one is where Marshall takes Robin to the Vikings bar in "Little Minnesota") Together they find the right mix of heartfelt moments and humor.

Overall, I have to give this one a 10/10 being it's in my top five. I really miss this show, and more so miss the characters that I grew to love so much.
