Anchorage, Alaska, August 2007: A nurse practitioner, 52-year-old Mindy Lorin Schloss, goes missing from her home in Anchorage, Alaska. Mindy's friend alerts the local police who begin their search for Mindy. Several suspects are ruled out during the detectives' search for Mindy's abductor. In the end, it was Mindy's next door neighbor, former convict Joshua Wade, who abducted, assaulted and killed Mindy. His "party house" next door was a bothersome nuisance to his neighbors. After Mindy's disappearance, Josh was spotted on bank surveillance cameras draining money from Mindy's bank account at ATM machines. On the cameras, his tattoos were seen on his hands. The tattoos helped to pin Josh to the crimes. Trained police scent-detecting dogs were also employed in Josh's apprehension. In the end, Josh Wade accepted a plea deal to avoid a death penalty sentence. He confessed to Mindy's murder, and also, as part of the plea bargain, confessed to the 2003 murder of Della Brown. Josh had raped and killed Della Brown, but due to a lack of hard evidence, he was acquitted of those crimes. After his plea deal, Josh Wade was sentenced to 99 years in prison for his homicides.
