Wonderful episode
kcfangwd0715 January 2021
First off, I've read enough to see people fussing about the Covid story, but it's a medical drama where if they didn't touch on it it would be irresponsible of them. This show always throws punches too. So, you picked the wrong genre of show if you wanted this one to ignore it.

Secondly, the did it beautifully!! Also, it was co- written by a critical care doctor who works the Covid wards in Boston. She's seen it. So it if it's too realistic for you, it because she is living it!!

Also, they are tested 2-3 times a week on set and wear masks up until they go on camera. The crew always wears masks. They have wonderful Covid precautions on this show. Don't criticize them on this one.

I talk to people involved in the show so this was told to me from first hand knowledge.

EXCELLENT premier episode!

Season 4 of The Resident focused on the long-range effects and consequences of Covid on hospital workers sprinkled with a happy wedding between NIc and Conrad, finally! Handled extremely tenderly for such a sensitive subject that is with us all every day now. Bravo to all of the cast!!!

Finally! It was a very great episode. Dramatic and with a lot of scenes that we were excepting for quite a while. Regarding COVID, I think they managed very well. It hit very close to the heart.

Amazing

I loved how real it showed covid. It's real, it's happening and they showed it in all it's scary terrible uncaring devastation. It explored the strain on healthcare workers, and the fear they live with everyday now. These actors did an amazing job. This episode was an emotional rollercoaster and I loved every minute of it.

Too close to home

I do love this show but I think I might enjoy it more if it was not so upsetting this time. Covid is everywhere, Covid is everything... covid is in this program.

Episode 401

I wish the show did not invoke COVID, but what can you do. Not horrible, but way too sappy for a premiere.

NEED A BREAK
terib-3388913 January 2021
I've always enjoyed this show. I was so happy when it started saying months past COVID. Only to have flashbacks detailing the depressing facts of the past year. I just want to be entertained and escape the reality of our current state. Is that too much to ask?

Covid covid covid...

We GET it. Covid exists. We don't need every single show to be about it. We've already been living it. Viewers watch shows to escape what's happening, and being punched in the face with it every time we turn around is SO frustrating, and absolutely exhausting.

What the? Why why do all the shows have to be about Covid. We are living it. Can't we have anything not about covid, masks, fevers.

Enough of double standards
howie-9917514 January 2021
Covid themed shows are such a joke and almost always a doubled standard. Lets write about how bad covid is and wear masks and social distant to show the out break. Next scene jump ahead a few months or years and have the actors not wear mask or distant so that we can see their faces. How come the producers, writers, and actors are not requiring the CDC's recommend guidelines when filming the show. I have to wear a mask and distant to go to work and into most public places, at least All Rise has the actors still wear face coverings in most scene but not all.

It's a no win
sophietravels15 January 2021
I understand the conundrum the producers of medical shows have deciding whether to cover Covid or not. No one wants to watch it, we're living in it still, it's too much, too depressing. But since they decided to do they should have given it more thought in how they were going to make it cathartic for the audience, instead of depressing. The Resident failed immensly. Such terrifying, dramatic depiction at first and then to have it all be over with by the end of the first episode is a slap in the face to all of us. I have friends and family who had to postpone weddings, spouses who couldn't be there for the birth of their child and so on, but no, not for these they got to have their wedding because everything solves itself so quickly in this show. They keep taking on heavy topics and give it a half assed effort in developing the story around it. As far as the two love birds they bore me to death and I'm sick of them. The only wise choice would have been to nip it in the bud and cancel this sorry tv show.

Extremely disappointed...

Warning: Spoilers
I had been waiting with bated breath for this show I loved so much .... but within minutes the show smacks me in the face with their "first" patient and my jaw hits the ground. I am in no way commenting negatively about the amazing men and women on the front lines of combating COVID-19 selflessly and tirelessly, please understand that. I have lost a family member to this, so I know the incredible toll, excruciating impact and heartbreaking sadness COVID-19 can cause. I understand it is a medical show, but I think it could have been done better.
