This could have been a great film
Nand2Tetris18 February 2022
For the first 45 minutes, I really liked Max and Avery and their chemistry. The whole date that they go on was interesting and weird and exciting and creepy and intriguing and tense and all of that. I really liked how the film makers were able to set an eerie unsettling tone.

After they get to the haunted house however, everything went haywire with the plot. It's tragic because this film could have actually been a great one if it weren't for the sheer cacophony of the second half.

Walk away! Walk away! You still have a choice. Dont watch this rubbish.
imseeg11 March 2022
Simply walk away. Never (NEVER) pay for this movie, because it is an insult to the genre of horror. It's amateur night. NOT scary whatsover. NOT horror at all...

Not any good? We just see 2 teenagers hanging out with each other. They dont act terribly bad, but there simply is no spark. No thrill. No true suspense. Sorry, I was trying to say something good about it...well I cant think of anything else.

They finally end up in some basement and the "horror" scenes are laughably mediocre...

First half is
tchitouniaram6 April 2022
Pretty good , slow pulling you in with anticipation of something terrible to come) Acting is fine , cinematography is a bit overboard with lights and colors , but it's all good ,until the second part ... It's like authors run out of ideas and just haphazardly pasted together something unrecognizable ... 5 stars for effort !

A horrible blinking light experience with a poor plot and a pointless ending... Walk away from this movie or just waste your time watchin... The "one take" was a good thing but didn't save the movie...

Are you kidding me?!
ravenhair70212 February 2022
How...for the love of Moses...did this get an 8.5 from IMDB?! It started out slow and it didn't change. There were minor bits of scary, but absolutely no jump scares. I kept waiting for something...ANYTHING to happen. But it just didn't. The ending...I might be wrong, but I swear I heard someone say "Cut." REALLY?! The plot: Boy and girl meet online for a date. Girl says "Hey! Instead of going to a movie, let's go see a real haunted house!" Stupid boy agrees and this is where you watch the movie. I highly recommend you don't because this MOVIE SUCKS! Peace.

Waste of time
p_imdb-238-92638012 February 2022
This is a waste of time and bad in many ways.

Story is boring, shallow and simple.

The worst probably is the lack of film making competence.

The directing is all over the place, just like camera work, post production too, I've never seen such a bad color balance since the 80ies.

Acting is tolerable, since you are more distracted and angry at other things.

The reviews are clearly fake, going through the director bio you can find out pretty quickly that he is a BS artist, clearly reflected in this piece of work.

Ignore the fake high rating
Rastifan12 February 2022
This is true B movie garbage. Amateurish and poorly edited and cut. 20 minutes out in it, it was clear it was made by people who knew little about movie making. Did not waste anymore time on it.

A good thriller
d-ramseeey13 February 2022
I seen this on Prime and it had me on edge. Booboo Stewart and Nils Allen Stewart are both exceptional actors and really made this film come alive. If horror, thriller movies is your thing you need to watch this. I'm usually guessing what might happen in each scene but this was unpredictable and one of the better horror, thriller movies i've seen in a while. Well done.

Spoiler alert this movie will spoil your day/evening
biscuitskhan17 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This isn't a horror it's a borefest not even a gorefest..

It actually is a very boring movie.

First we're put through a torturous scene of 2 people on a tinder date and then the date takes a twist and then the tinder date gets "crazy" then the tinder date gets locked in the house then the tinder date burns the house down then there's a guy called Rockcreep then there's someone saying cut...

Honestly that's what the movie is like it makes no sense at all lol it's not scary the Rockcreep guy is a fat bald man with teeth like Pennywise.. But he doesn't do anything other than look creepy for a few seconds..

I have no idea why this movie has a 9.2 rating which is why I watched it.. Probably a glitch was supposed to be 2.9 yeah that sounds right.

Complete waste of time rather watch paint dry than this movie.

Watch it
cynvanity13 February 2022
This movie is about 2 people that meet on a social media app for a date. They end up in a haunted house and that's where the story unfolds. Good acting, though the start seemed a little slow it did pick up thankfully and had me guessing to the very end. It's on a indie budget so if you can look past that you will like it. It's a 8 from me.

Loved it
uvz-5442513 February 2022
This film is so much better then the trailer. Love the build up of the characters and the plot moved fast and didn't drag out. Good amount of jump scares and tension also with a matching soundtrack and decent amount of dialogue. Wish the ending was a little different as it really did surprise me. It's based loosely of a book i heard, yet to read it but this film is totally worth checking out.

A drug fueled nightmare
littlenemo-littlenemo3 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
As I watched the first 45 minutes of the film, I felt like I was the oddball buddy who was dragged along to a date with my best friend. We get to know the two characters likes and dislikes, and if you can maintain your interest, there will be a few hints about their pasts. Odd things happen along the way as someone's ear bleeds for no reason, and the main lead has a few drug-fueled hallucinations (I can only assume as there is never really an explanation for them.) We then get to the last 45 minutes where more confusion ensues, and the director gets to play with his camera by doing a few 360's. The only thing I can say good about the film is the acting by the two leads was actually pretty good until it all fell apart in the second half. For some unknown reason to me, the movie stretches on a good 12 more minutes after it should have ended. I would think that there are hundreds of smaller horror flicks that would be a better use of your time. "Cut!"

What the actual fuuuu
jackietenore13 February 2022
This was a truly horrible movie. I didn't read the reviews, only went to see it based on the ratings. Through the entire movie I was waiting for it to get good. Towards the end I decided to actually READ the reviews, if only I had done that before I wasted $25 to see this in theaters.

'It's about those watchers who walk away from this horsecrap movie.'

Fake ratings to lure the watchers in for an absolute time waste. Don't know what the makers were smoking while coming up with this. Please start smoking something better guys!

Those who watch walk away
109YearsOld18 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Alright, basically a not-so-good TV movie that is supposed to be 30 min long, but at least it has some budget to burn a forsaken house at the end. The lesson here is when you hook up with a hot chick through dating/pimping app who grabs your hand on the first date, be sure your gun is loaded with live rounds, not blanks, because you know it is too good to be true. However, let's give the movie an extra star for the amazing bottom of Scarlett Sperduto.

An hour before anything happens then it's not worth it.
gmannion-6956620 February 2022
No idea how this got 7/10 almost an hour before any "action" then it just becomes pure nonsense like they ran out of ideas. Cronenburg wannabe stuff that fails to reach any heights. Lost 90 minutes of my life!

The family that preys together
begob12 February 2022
A shy guy finds his blind date taking him to a place darker than the local movie theater.

Real interesting movie that sets off with a sweet taster of the extended long take, as the opening shot skillfully wheels us round the everyday activity of a public park and into a cheeky split-screen phone conversation.

From there the attractive antagonist takes over, and for me the form of the action is perfect up to the arrival at the final destination. The actors work well, and the passing of time is nicely handled, all while spooky elements are slipped into the shape of the story. One small drawback was the rushed reference to the template story - I caught it as Omelettes by Lugwin, and had to stop to figure it out. Either explain about le Guin, or just tell the story without mentioning the title or author.

That final destination is stylish in its spooks, but the kid was either miscast or given over-written lines - I couldn't help thinking of the young Jake in Two and a 1/2 Men. As for the meaning of what happens in the house, I'm still not satisfied. Walking away is the crucial act, and it seems to be done in several different ways by different characters at different times - but as a viewer I want to channel it through Max, as if he's doing it all in an effort to work through his trauma, with the house as the cage of his repression. Yet the brother and sister are real, with a separate back story, so they can't be part of Max. And the final encounter harks back, I guess, to the first phone conversation ...? I'm going to rewatch, with the le Guin story lined up first.

Leaving aside my puzzlement, the energy is good, particularly in the female lead and also the music and sound design. The cinematography and location direction are impressive throughout. At one point drops of water land on the camera when the kid's hair gets tousled, and I imagined the steady-cam guy: HTF do I clean the lens? And my lower-back is on fire!

Overall: Engaging, but an unsolved puzzle. Might mark it up on a rewatch.

This is really BAAD!
amebix-6708013 February 2022
I don't understand how this has a 7/10.

That being said, the acting aint all that great, tho the main character nails it TBH and everyone else is really green. The cinematography is all over the place BUT you can tell that they put a lot a love into this film.

Its definetly not another one of those quick churning out "ghost haunting" films that seem to be spit out every other day so I guess that almost cool.

Don't walk away
xaggurat13 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
You don't need a huge budget if you have vision. Already the title sequence animation and the opening shot & camera movement felt so promising and fresh, that I just knew I was going to watch the whole film and probably like it. Good acting, great script, pretty interesting camera work and photography.

The joke in the end wasn't necessary though, it's like a magician telling his secrets just after he did the trick. Better go all the way.

A well made thriller
mangosteen5515 February 2022
Ignore the haters! Great actors and a tense plot that will have you wanting more right to the very end. Plenty of creepy scenes and the soundtrack really added another layer to the film.

Waste of time, Garbage...
jkidman0823 February 2022
It's started off with talk, talk & talk for nearly half of the film both main characters are talking about themselves on their first date and the Director wants us to hear there garbage talk and then the haunted house story which started off well but again with poor execution and didn't payoff well in the end. 3/10.

Creative low budget effort
drjacobgrayson16 February 2022
So the movie itself makes no sense and the acting is uneven and I'm not sure if the director meant to leave the audible "cut!" in at the end of the movie, but hey, someone had a vision and they executed, so props for that.

Watch this movie. I tried to give this film a shot but after the hour mark it was time to call it quits. I'm suprised I actually got that far. Definitely not a film I'd recommend. 3 stars.
