Tragic but charming this slow unraveling might be worth a watch.
cgvsluis30 January 2023
At parts hard to watch, a well told story that was phenomenally acted. Two strangers meet on a train and their two tragic love stories slowly unravel.

The great soundtrack and wonderful acting is what keeps this film from being a somber spiral downward. Additionally the way in which this story is told was a great storytelling tool...two strangers sharing a compartment on a train as it sways along the countryside heading towards Izmir. It's a fourteen hour trip and Ali, a lawyer, is filled with curiosity about his traveling companion prompting her to speak. Leyla, carrying a small bag and a battered violin case, just wants to be left alone...so she takes an aggressive approach to Ali's inquiries and starts digging through his bag to get him instead to talk about himself.

This is a heartfelt look at the human condition, especially heartache and what it prompts you to do. I don't think this film would be nearly as watchable if it wasn't for actors Metin Akdulger and Dilan Cicek Deniz. Individually and together, they are charming. Silence and sound is used well to give moments to breathe in this emotional story.

I think this film is worth seeing for the end alone. This is a recommendation for me...not necessarily to romantics, but to people who enjoy a well told story,

A Great Drama

It is a new movie on Netflix. The first scene is in Ankara and the feeling it makes you think that it is going to be a good movie. I believe it is one of its kind in Turkish cinema.

I cannot give an objective comment and score about this movie (In order not to be disrespectful to the subject). 😂 that's why I give 10 as a feeling and also the art director was very successful

It's that movie you watch when you don't know what to watch
danaboodai3 August 2020
It reminded me of two movies "before sunrise" and "jab we met". If you wanna watch a mashup of these two watch it.

Definitely deserves to be in the worst movie lists
This movie is a perfect demonstration that, directly using a topic of an original art (hur man stoppar ett bröllop), does not make a good movie. You also need good acting, good directing, and cinematography, along with good music. It is remarkable that this movie is not only lacking these fundamentals, but it also makes a strange combination of bad acting, directing, and cinematography, not to mention super-bad fitting of an album over a terrible flow.

It takes 10 shots over two days for me to finish the whole movie, as I could not tolerate it more than 10 minutes (I am dedicated to finish all movies I start). In the meanwhile, I had a chance to watch the original, hur man stoppar ett bröllop. It was brilliant! So, if you are interested in this kind of stories, go watch hur man stoppar ett bröllop. Not this super-fake, under-quality thing.

The original movie is a mixture of naturalism and empiricism; a combination of fluent and realistic acting in small areas. This movie is like three young people took each other with their i-phones.

Finally, producer's efforts to attract teens by putting a couple of sex scenes is interesting. This will really work; but, does it worth?

Finally, NETFLIX: We pay to see high-quality movies, not rubbish.

Don't watch unless you want to waste time
noguz-8216029 June 2020
I am from Turkey, and this is not representant of our cinema. The conversations, the situations, were all so artificial. did not enjoy it, cringed the whole time. Bad writing, bad acting

Another way to rethink love
faer_kr21 June 2020
A Turkish dramatic film. It is about a girl who is going to avoid the wedding of her ex, for that she gets on a train without paying the ticket and her cabin companion accompanies her in a process of self-discovery. The film is divided into chapters and parts. Arrhythmic. Parsimonious in moments. Most of it takes place on a train and there are only two characters. The script is spectacular, slightly sly and smart. It deals with what it is to heal after a relationship, infidelity, self-love, vulnerability, to find ourselves again. It is not a romantic comedy, although it might seem. He gets to play depth shots without being pretentious. This movie is not for everyone, it could get boring if you do not enjoy the long soliloquies that the characters waste.

Why
hamitakyurek28 June 2020
Why? The most important question is, why did you do this film. It was so simple. This couldn't be a Turkish movie if you look at recent films also The old ones. Why?

beautiful
nzldumlupinar19 June 2020
It was absolutely beautiful. I loved the acting of Metin Akdülger. For an adaptation movie, this was the best they could've done. It makes you want to jump on a train to find your ex. And also; Love is always unexpected for pure hearts.

Nice movie
StarWarsfan5621 June 2020
I think it was i nice movie. It was different. When i heard it was turkish and a romantic comedy i thought it will be a cliche. I liked the music and the dialogues. The theme was interesting. The dance at the ending scene was well thought. I started dancing immediately when i saw it because i remembered the bande of the outsiders. But i didn't like dilan's style. Her hairs looked like they were always a mess. And i also wanted too meet the couple of the wedding. Metin played really good. Overall the movie was good.

Life is a journey!
timucin_savas20 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Not many directors take notice but trains are good locations to shoot films, for one thing because they are slow. This slowness and the passing scenery adds to the emotions of the characters. I mean even if you miss the train you can hop on a taxi and catch it at the next station. Leyla and Ali are not in a rush as they are on their way to the same wedding and this journey becomes an opportunity for them to face their past.

Decent acting from both actors and a good script and direction that keeps the audience in the film until the end. I am not sure if it was the intention of the filmmakers that the journey starts in Turkey's gloomy capital and ends in sunny bright coastal city of Izmir. And there is hope in Izmir! Beautiful ending!

Wonderful.
billurayata1 July 2020
I loved it! Dialouges were so fluid. All was good, actors were so real. Although it was mostly in one place like a theather act it was not boring at all. And music choices were so great and beautiful. When I read Turkish critics I can't believe how rude and arrogant they are. This movie definitelty is much much better than many festival award winning movies.

A joyful alternative movie, a peaceful production
ozgursoysal20 June 2020
Netflix Turkey made not very brilliant productions in the past but using 2 people they have finally made a relaxing and peaceful movie. Ms.Deniz and Mr.Akdülger perform realistically and they play as they are living the thing. Some dialogs are not well-written to not be distinguished from others. The movie can be classified as alternative and tranquil.

A good start
defnelaurelrose20 June 2020
The dialogues sounded extremely fluid and natural compared to normal turkish movie dialogues. Especially Metin's acting stood out a lot. His mimics and gestures made the unnatural coincidences (which makes up a romantic movie) more natural by introducing a natural and genuine character. Dilan seemed too naive and innocent to be playing such an aggressive and badass lady but she still pulled it off. It was well directed with good soundtracks. Overall a good start on Turkish Netflix movie productions.

Such a beautiful movie!
Anon1211520 June 2020
One-Way to Tomorrow really exceeded my expectations! A very beautiful romantic movie, although it does take a bit to get into the main plot, I personally didn't mind the build up. Two pained souls meeting by an accident and in this 14hour ride and they get to cleanse themselves from their demons. The performances of Dilan Çiçek Deniz and Metin Akdülger are phenomenal as well as the chemistry they have is indeed beautiful. The soundtrack of the movie just the cherry on top. An aesthetically pleasing movie you just can't miss out on!
