Stick to the Character!
spasek26 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Imagine someone doing a Superman show, only he can't fly (not talking about Smallville). Or Thor without his hammer. Or Spider-Man who can't climb walls or use webs. Or Wonder Woman who has no superhuman strength or lasso to use.

I'm not sure why the writers decided to completely change the abilities of Ms. Marvel. It makes no sense, and they've gone in a completely different direction.

Ms. Marvel has the ability to shape-shift and expand any part of her body. Why is this so hard to do? Ever hear of Mr. Fantastic?! She's also an Inhuman. Okay, if you want to change the backstory and origin, fine--although I don't see why this would be necessary since the Inhuman storyline has already been well established.

Now, you've got Ms. Marvel who uses a bangle to bring out some kind of "light" powers. So, in essence, they've completely changed the character.

It's sad because they have a great cast of actors, especially, Iman Vellani who gives us a charming and realistic teenager trying to navigate her family, spiritual life, friends, and discovery of her new powers.

It's as if the writers never picked up the comic book. The Marvel Universe would look very much different, indeed, had they completely changed all of the core characters of Thor, Iron Man, Captain America, and so on. We'd have had a pretty dismal library of films that never would have reached their peak of popularity.

If you don't know the character, then find something else to write. The writers succeeded in one thing: disgracing and disparaging a good and important comic book character. You also do a disservice to those who created the character in the first place!

Weaker but not bad
cthirlby22 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Love to see some of the marvel fans being toxic once again. This was a slow burn episode but terrible by no means it's half way through the show and a build up episode. People keep saying about the powers being changed but they haven't they've only changed visually. As for those who rate one star based off the Noor and lore of Pakistan culture and Ms Marvel it's strange that this was about another universe and dimension and they rate it bad but when stuff like doctor strange does it everyone gets hyped and doesn't tear that down? Strange fan base, I think most people have a problem with the culture but hey I think it's another reason cause they didn't mind all the Christianity symbolism in daredevil.

Awesome creativity

They did an amazing job of changing this from the comics, while also doing it well and keeping it believable. I am so excited to see where this goes- and is there is any connection to the Ten Rings.

More Kamala and Brian, please!
alvaronavarroguz22 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I don't understand these bad reviews. It's a different show, for a different audience, but as a Marvel fan I still can enjoy it. If you don't like it so far, you won't like it so quit watching. We critize if they give us originality, we critize if they give us the same...

I really loved the mix of culture and action of this episode. Iman Vellani keeps stealing the show, I think she's a better Kamala than Kamala herself.

Ok, you don't like the origin of Kamala's powers, give it a chance. They might surprise us. I don't know, but the severed hand with the bangle was blue, so...we might still get some Kree around.

And I really like that they continue expanding the multiverse.

Finally, for the people that say that they don't empathize with any character, I totally connect with Kamala's brother. There's a fire alarm but the poor guy worries about the money that might get lost haha.

Definitely better than I was expecting! It's my favourite episode so far and it's gotten my hopes relatively high for the next episodes of the show! Just really hoping that they stay around this quality!

Not bad at all

This episode was good as compared to others.... I don't know why people are giving hate .? Marvel is trying to show something new by which they are changing its origin and powers.

Slow burn episode 3
teomslaer22 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was not the strongest overall but it is still a nice entry to the Ms. Marvel show. Lots of world building and set-up in this episode with the last 15 minutes or so where this is some action in what I'd consider a pretty good fight scene. It somehow made me think of the Jurassic park scene with the dinos hunting the kids in the kitchen. Interesting turn that I should have seen coming but I am now interesting in seeing what will happen next episode. I do have to add that it did bother me how quickly Kamala is picking up using her abilities, wish there was less "character armor"

Keeping it up!

Warning: Spoilers
Really nice pacing! Connection with Shang chi?? Noor dimension? Djin? Demons? Very nice pacing and very nice reveals and questions answered from the previous episode. Vision of a train? Blue arm? A lot of things answered presenting Kamala's story + new questions set to keep the mystery going.

Loving this series, best Marvel Tv show so far for me.

The fight scene was mildly entertaining, but I just feel like a lot of this show wasn't properly planned. The bad guys weren't given enough backstory like they were on say Disney+ Hawkeye, but there's just so many pointless scenes throughout each episode too.

Continues to be charming... but that can't save awful villains and exposition of an already crappy story change.
frankiesilver-9183624 June 2022
There were definitely some weird things in this episode that made it hard to enjoy as much as the first two.

This whole Djinn/Clandestine thing kinda came out of nowhere with a really sudden backstory scene and a confusing lack of context on their abilities and origin.

It makes the fight scenes weird because we don't really know what they're capable of. Their sudden shift from nice to selfish and invasive was also super off-putting.

The blue arm was such an aggravating Kree tease as it probably won't go anywhere.

I thought I had gotten over the absence of the Inhuman origin, but the so far lackluster replacement makes me wish it was present.

It's also weird how they're making Damage Control out to be racists when they treated Spider-Man, a famous white male, similarly.

Otherwise the rest was fun but didn't further the plot much at all. I do like Kamala having self doubts about being a hero even thought it's what she wanted.

I honestly don't know how you can hate this show it gets better every episode. The wedding was such a feel good scene. And the fight was stupendous.

The inevitable bad guy reveal was obvious but.. ya know it always is.

Exposition heavy, with some strong moments
snoozejonc26 June 2022
Kamala learns more about the origin of the bangle and attends her brother's wedding.

This is a fairly enjoyable episode with good character moments and it piques an interest in what might be coming next.

The best scenes for me are centred around the Mosque and the wedding, which involves both serious issues and plenty of fun.

There seems like a dual purpose to the show as it presents the MCU from the perspective of an Muslim community, portraying the culture, family life and problems faced by the characters very well. The superhero aspect has felt more of a subplot in previous episodes, but in this one they gets more prominence. Unfortunately it relies on some awkward storytelling, particularly with the volume of clunky exposition dumps from various characters telling us certain background information regarding the origins of the bangle and the antagonistic characters, who so far seem a bit one-note.

The action and superpower scenes are well done, but when you have seen so many Marvel characters fighting with various weapons and using enhanced abilities so many times, you get a bit numb to it.

Much like the previous episode it finishes with a lot of promise for what comes next.

Iman Vellani leads the episode very well and is supported nicely by the rest of the cast.

It's a 6.5/10 for me but I round upwards.

Portraying Indian culture, tradition, songs, foods etc. As Pakistani.
chaithanyavamshi10 July 2022
I understand you got to draw both Indian and Pakistani audience. Biryani is Indian, Pani Puri is Indian. It's wrong to show Indian specialities as Pakistani. There are many Pakistan specific dishes. You talk about SRK and DDLJ they are Indian. You play Indian songs. You should Indian culture. This a sensitive issue between India and Pakistan. We know the line and we'll deal with it. I request Marvel to stop putting finger in this issue and stop bringing Indian context. If you want to make a Pakistani hero just stick with Pakistan specific content. If you want to make Indian hero you can do it. Just don't try to raise disputes just to make money out of it. You don't want another Russia-Ukraine or Afghanistan-taliban do you?

Getting better
BeastyBoyFlicks24 June 2022
If you've been a little frustrated through episode 1-2 due to the teen style Disney show it's been so far. We'll episode 3 finally was a bit better with almost no dumb teen style characters. It finally got a little serious.

Amazing turn of events!
zain_ahmed23 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Marvel really teased us first with blue skin color but they quickly took it away from us by calling them djinn. I was so much hoping for them to be Kree or Inhumans. Perhaps they're lying? Having some knowledge about djinn did help. Really excited to see Karachi in the next episode!!

Warning: Spoilers
Destined gives some answers as to how Kamala Khan got her powers.

A flashback to British India of 1942. Kamala's great grandmother finds a bracelet.

The origin of Kamala's ancestors is that of the Djinn which ties in with Islamic mythology.

In the present day. The post 9/11 treatment of Muslims in America has not receded. DODC agents stomp all over a mosque without a warrant. Their racism is clear to see.

It allows Nakia to step up and become a member of the committee.

As for Kamala. She still needs to learn how to utilize her powers. Her brothers wedding leaves her family in danger.

The Disney/Marvel formula means it was easy to guess that Kamran's mother and her associates would be villainous.

There were some good action scenes at the end. Even the Bollywood inspired wedding sequence was fun.

Ms Marvel still shares a lot with Peter Parker's Spider-Man. Someone initially overwhelmed with their powers.

Very good Episode but one gripe...
jackbryant-0074323 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
MAKE HER AN INHUMAN, not a Djinn, tf is a Djinn, Stop changing her origin story, Kamala Khan is an INHUMAN. Even the hand that had the bracelet one was Blue, Blue = Kree, Kree = Inhuman.

[6.8] Next stop Karachi!
cjonesas22 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Episode 3: The best episode yet. It unfortunately still feels like a minimalistic Ms Marvel turned into a hamster with shiny armors and rainbow bang fists.

The problem doesn't lie with Iman Vellani's acting. In fact, IMO she does a pretty damn good and natural job.

The problem lies with the creators and writers who practically serve us an Indo-Pakistani production in each episode with a tiny background on a girl with a bangle that has a big history behind it.

Executives, you want to serve us that?! Then, you badly chose the title of the series.

That is NOT Ms (miss) Marvel and anything MCU-like concerning her.

Did we watch the same show ?
julien-boris-ali25 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I get this show targets the fourteen something years old as their audience but come on, it's no reason to get this written by a fourteen years old. It's just lazy writing at this point. What's the point of releasing the girl, if it's just for obviously failing for plot reasons later on to capture her ? And of course, as the papers about ancien hindu lied on the counter, the father read juuuuuuust the right portion relatively about the topic at hand. It IS the definition of lazy writing at his best. Come on. This is insulting.

Reminds Me Of 80's John Hughs Movies
gbarrett-3994115 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
If you liked 80's movies, then you should be able to appreciate this show. It is well done and open yourself to just enjoying the story...it's a fun ride. It also gives a wonderful window into a beautiful culture. Of course there is silliness, but the Breakfast Club was also silly and amazing.

It's an info dump of an episode that should move the story forward
harry-3451822 June 2022
The wedding stuff was brilliant however it was very exposition heavy and the writting at points felt a bit messy. The acting and direction is great but the show feels like it's rushing and not taking time to breath.

Worst fight scene in the MCU
C_Ippolito24 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The big fight scene was, from start to finish, Nickelodeon quality, as though directed by a film student. Just exceedingly bad, from a writing, directing, and acting standpoint. Much of the episode was largely OK before this abysmal finale.

This is by far the best MCU show!! It has great emotional stakes, acting, production design and storytelling. Most of all, its structured like an actual TV show!!! I love it and cant wait to see what comes next.

This Show i had higher expectations
18Buddha18 August 2022
The actress shes cute & adorable in some of her scenes but by Episode 3 I find it harder to overlook it and hold it in cuz its getting annoying how hard she tries too be cute in many moments.

Like I dont know if anyone else notices it but shes very extra in her acting in trying way too hard even though a good portion of her acting is great but it would be nice if every scene she would stop over emphasizing her acting as if its like one of those asian comedy shows.

She is probably a new actress as that would be understandable and would explain for why its so unnatural n forced lookin when shes trying to put on an innocent, cute, confused or a happy or shocked look.

Best analogy i can give to describe what I mean is when you go to Karaoke with friends & that 1 person always sings a sad song & overemphasizes loudly screamin heart out on every ending word in each verse instead of just holding the note/word like a normal person in a normal manner lol.

Another thing i dislike is they tried to make it like its a bollywood thing and I really hate bollywood movies lol. Especially really hate the indian music that keeps playing every episode. When I saw the dancing in This episode all I could think of was all the ridiculous bollywood movies I tried to watch where they sing n dance pausing inbetween a fight lol.
