A great way to teach kids how to count to 100 by telling a story.

From the author of the stories of Timothy the raccoon and his friends, and the books about Max and Ruby comes this delightful story that will show kids how useful numbers are. According to the author's note from the book, Rosemary states that numbers were no friend to her when she was young. As Emily the bunny goes through her first 100 school days, she shows us that numbers can be found in most everything. For example, 50 stars are on the US flag, there are 88 keys on the piano, and a yardstick is 36 inches long.

The animation for the Scholastic Storybook Treasures adaptation of the book was excellent, and I like the way they divide the counting into segments for every 10 numbers. If you enjoy this story, check out other great stories from the series like "Antarctic Antics" which also features the voice of Diana Canova.
