Leaders aren't chosen, they're born
nogodnomasters8 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Plot Spoiler. Not hard to figure this one out from beginning to end. Christine (Jessie Nerud) has an accident on the road and has her mouth wired shut, something that was in the last film I watched. She is recovering in the home of minister Abraham and his sheriff son Isaac. Not hard to figure out they are part of a small town cult in Gideon and she is going to be a human sacrifice.

The story is predictable, even down to the chair ending. The script was sloppy and the characters and actors left a lot to be desired. The picture on the DVD is a red herring.

Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity.

Utter garbage.
pediatricgrime15 March 2022
Bad acting, bad story and a lack of scares results in a bad movie. Nothing that happens makes sense. I do am impressed that the star could stand her jaw being wired shut.

This was a below, low budget film with horribly bad acting. The story was ok and I did manage to watch it until the end but only because I love horror films. This was one of those movies you wished you never started watching. Never knowing what is real or fake and the actions of the lead were just comical! Instead of running out of the house she goes from one place in the house to the next just waiting to get captured again, STUPID AF!! Please take my word and skip this one. A better low budget movie would be Blood Punch.

Hit and miss but it kept me watching
aldiboronti15 March 2022
First of all I have to admire the sheer pluck of Jessie Nerud. Putting up with those grotesque choppers throughout the movie can't have been pleasant and I think many actresses would have passed on blemishing their looks in such a manner. The rest of the cast are adequate rather than good and there's a lack of decent scares in the film but if you lower your expectations it's not a bad watch.

Utter rubbish
domialenic20 March 2022
Before watching I did read the feedback on this site and decided to give it a try anyway. Mistake. The beginning isn't to bad and keeps you watching. But somewhere halfway the whole thing becomes ridiculous as is the end. I really don't expect that much from low budget productions and give them some leeway to make up for the lack of funds, but sometimes it looks like they have run out of ideas before the movie ends and they just improvise. Don't bother watching it and belive the rating which is still overrated in my book.

Poorly executed

Warning: Spoilers
They should have given the script to Guy Ritchie, or Stone, or Polanski, to turn it into a good movie, with more skilled actores, more experienced cutters and, just in general, people with better timing. Especially the last scene, with the protagonist being able to get the upper hand oncemore, the dilletantism reaches its peak. Brutal viewing experience with what could have made a decent film.

Wired Shut
jeroduptown19 March 2022
Christine gets caught up in a cult's house when they "rescue" her from a car wreck that leaves her mouth wired shut. Having to listen to her mumble through her teeth for over an hour is pain enough - but moreover the backstory of the religion's origin is weak.

Not bad soundtrack
samuelecarrero21 March 2022
The only thing that can be saved from the film is the soundtrack. The rest is awful. Alberto Bellavia carried the movie. L for the Director.

The movie cover looks like it's been made by a 3 year old toddler using Paint.

The girl's teeth looked like caries.

A message to the movie director Carmelo Chimera
kvygzzhq22 July 2022
Dear Carmelo Chimera,

Try to learn more in making movies because this movie is worse than a movie that would made by a high school students for senior year project.

Thanks,

Very Good Movie
fluffchop31 May 2022
It is interesting as it slowly unfolds. The chair has spoken. Our heroine achieves victory. It was a very good movie with things happening that hold your interest without even trying. That's what makes it good to watch. If you want to watch a relaxing thriller that slowly unfolds you will enjoy this movie.

A generally fun and enjoyable indie effort
kannibalcorpsegrinder3 January 2023
After surviving a devastating car accident, a woman finds herself rehabilitating at a stranger's house where she's soon embroiled in a mystery about a strange demon cult throughout the town, and upon learning their true intentions tries to save herself from their next sacrifice.

This one wasn't too bad for what it is. Among the more likable factors here is the somewhat enjoyable setup here which provides for a chilling enough time here. The first half, featuring a fine mysterious build-up of life at their house featuring the overtly religious atmosphere with their strange manners and customs, conflicts with her more straightforward desire to make herself useful while she recuperates. There's a highly impressive tone generated here as this all comes together quite well with the various dreams she has involving their strange traditions and her flashbacks to the even more bizarre religious background that combines together into an overall fine setup. With this fine setup established, this one comes off with a lot of fun overall in the big encounter featuring the final stages of their plan. Realizing what their intentions are towards her, that revelation allows this to turn into a solid series of psychological tortures involving her being forced into the ceremonial space below the house before getting the twist involving the cult's leader trying to take over. The chaos that emerges from this includes a nice slew of attacks where she tries to fight back, the intensity of their attempts to carry out their plans despite it all going wrong, and the fine ending that all provide plenty of low-level indie gore that generates quite a lot to enjoy here. There are some issues here that hold it back. One of the biggest detriments here is the outright bland pacing here that tries to hide the generally predictable finale it's trying to hide. Keeping itself fun enough with the action at that point doesn't hide the fact that this one tends to become quite obvious where this is going as the series of reveals here point to some hard-to-miss setups which all give this a lethargic tempo. It's also quite low on scares anyway so there's even more of a dreary feeling to this one which all manages to bring the energy level down during the first half. As well as some instances of the budget betraying it, these issues are the ones that bring it down the most.

Rated Unrated/R: Graphic Violence and Graphic Language.

Ok to Pass the Time
rebeltaz-1870528 August 2022
This movie is ok if you're just looking to pass some time, but don't expect groundbreaking cinema. The acting is ok, the story is ok, the filming and lighting is ok... overall the whole thing is just meh...

There are some things that need to be addressed, though. One, the main actress may be attractive enough in real life, but in this movie, she has just been through a horrific wreck with the bruises and contusions to go with it. Not to mention that the girl's mouth is wired shut. She is, by no means, a beauty queen here and you wouldn't expect her to be given the situation. The reason I bring this up if because on at least half a dozen occasions, if not more, the male characters just cannot get over how beautiful she is and insist on voicing that sentiment.

Then, there is the issue with the way that the Catholic Church is portrayed. We see flashbacks of the girl when she was younger. She is in what looks like an attic with her parents and a Catholic priest. She is supposed to have committed a grave sin ( I won't reveal it hereto keep from giving away spoilers, but I'm sure you can figure it out) and the priest is trying to get her to repent from her sinful ways. He does this by handcuffing her backwards to a chair, whipping her back until she bleeds and pouring what I assume is alcohol over her wounds. When that doesn't work, he pours what we assume is a flammable liquid over her and tells her parents that in order for her soul to be saved, her flesh must die. He then proceeds to try and ignite the girl! This is what the Catholic Church is portrayed as in hollywood.

Not to mention the fact that while there is a historical tradition of so-called sin-eaters, this is not what they were.

Complete and utter lies and propaganda.

If you watch this, just know what you are getting going in.
