Disappointed

This movie was, by far, the worst of the four in every way.

several elements that jumped out
susanhuang-175069 May 2021
I haven't seen the other movies in this series, so my comment is purely on this movie only.

As other reviewers have mentioned, the mother and father appeared to be same age or younger than their daughter - Pearl.

This is not only about their appearance, but also the vibe they sent. The father just appeared to be so clueless and disconnect, in a way that irrelevant to the story plot, that made him more like a younger brother (who just doesn't care about the world) to Pearl rather than a father figure. For the mother, I blame it on her make up and hair style. The mother's acting was better, and appeared to have more stories to tell (not young and cluelss), but the heavy purple make up made her look like a teenager rather than someone older than her daughter Pearl.

Another thing that jumped at me was they mentioned to call 911 (as the number to call police). The number 911 was used in America after the September 11, 2001 incident in US. If the story setting is prior to 2000, it just didn't make sense to use that number. They could've done better...

I'm not done watching yet, but I also don't see how the cover picture has anything to do with the story. There's better images from the movie scenes than the snake cover photo..

Meh. Watch it to finish the series
CranberriAppl1 December 2021
I've read all of the classic series (Casteel, Logan, Landry, Dollanganger, Cutler) and some of the Wildflower ones. I read them as a teen, so the stories were fascinating if not a bit...icky. The drama of the stories are in books 1-3. The fourth book always follows the child of our main protagonist and then the fifth book delves into the story of the mother of our protag. In both cases, the tales are not as gripping since they aren't the characters who drive the family sagas. This movie is the exact same thing. It's the conclusion to Lifetime's series, but there's a chance that you'll feel let down. The stakes of this movie (and the other movies about the daughters) are not the same, so there's much less to become invested in or care about. But no worries, it's not you. The feeling of a letdown is present in the books once the main character (in this case Ruby) has overcome her struggles.

Lifetime just aired all four this past weekend, so watch it if it airs, but it's not necessary to seek it out.

Terrible

This movie is a joke. It's terrible in every single way possible. The story is so wrong. I had high hopes for these movies. What a let down.

This was a terrible letdown to finish the series! Sorry I watched it.

I was expecting Part IV of the Landry Family to be the best. This was bad on so many levels and making the viewer believe that Raechelle Banno, was old enough to be a mother to Jennifer LaPorte, who played, Pearl, her daughter, was more than a stretch. They looked like sisters, not mother and daughter. Bad, bad, bad movie (bad script, bad acting, and bad direction).

unnecessary extra
SnoopyStyle26 September 2021
This is the fourth movie in the series following Ruby, Pearl in the Mist, and All That Glitters. It's 1982. Pearl is 18 and graduating from high school. Ruby and Beau had twin boys, Jean and Pierre. Pearl is haunted by nightmare visions of Paul.

The franchise moves forward 17 years to regain some drama. The conflict essentially ended in the previous movie. There was a whole courtroom drama where all the secrets were spilled. This feels like an ill-fitting addition to the side of the house. It is wholly unnecessary.

This series sucks you in and then spits you out

I find it a little amusing that those watching and reviewing Movie 4 are making comments as if it was a standard movie and not from beginning to end a soap opera of of epic propertions with dramatic events, over the top and stereotypical characters. And it is a delicious melodrama with a fresh young cast and a few veteran actors such as Ashley Judd.

I find it silly that people are commenting on them seeming like 'sisters'. Ruby was still a teenager when she has Pearl, so that is pretty much inevitable.

I have to say that for much of the movie Pearl annoyed me nearly as much as Giselle. She was an obnoxious self-righteous prig and her disrespect of her Mum led to some of the negative events that transpired.

Bad, even 4 Lifetime movie
dianereneew26 February 2022
I read VC Andrews books years ago, so I was expecting "hokey" but this was honestly one of the worst movies I've seen on Lifetime. Horrible acting & dialog... but the worst part was the "aging" of the characters. Jason Priestley just had his hair dyed silver, and they just added a ton of hairspray to Ruby. Pearl & her parents looked exactly the same age.

Wasted Time

Poor writing and acting. Super disappointing. Ridiculous deals made in the movie, ridiculous court scene and the voodoo part with the ending, smh. Daughter's heroic actions, unreal.
