Probably wouldn't watch it again.

Firstly I don't get why everyone is hating on this shows being all like "Think of the children", It's as if they are surprised a show about Prince George has children in it..... like what the heck did they expect. I bet these same people enjoy SouthPark which is centred around 9 year olds but heaven forbid a show exists about real life royal children (who to be fair are waited on and foot by hundreds of staff). Guess it's just evidence that there are still many many royalists who are easily upset over a simple satire cartoon about their 3rd in line monarch these days, it doesn't even show him in a bad light just more an over the top view of how pretty much every rich child is these days.

If you like Family Guy you'll enjoy this show as it is written by one of its writers and the animation is in a similar style. The show is not really something I would likely rewatch as I don't like the character of Prince George, I never have liked the whole pretentious Instagram social media influencer character on other shows so a show centring around one is definitely not for me. The show does have a few moments of comedy gold especially with Frances de la Tour being cast as the Queen hence my rating of 7/10. I do feel the over saturation of the same jokes might have been kind of a let down for the show, it does have potential to be a hit but it does need work.

I probably will watch the second series one time if it's still going ahead after all these horrible reviews, it was renewed but I'm not super hopeful for it.

Keep burning the snowflakes. The prince is a great representation of today's society, Prince George is all the Twitter universe in one person, and we the same people get to laugh at it.

What the Hell Is This?
just_an_oli8731 July 2021
Satire is fine. Mocking the royal family is fine. But who decided it was was good idea to center this around children? Can you imagine being that age and finding out an actual television show has been created about you, much less to make you look like a shallow, pompous jackass, with other renditions of your family?

Had they centered it around the adults, left the kids out of it and handed it over to some writers who were talented and funny enough to make the jokes land without time sensitive cheap shots, this could have worked. As it is, you end up with an unfunny, boring and insulting attempt to take literal children down a peg. I feel bad for even giving it a shot with the three episodes I subjected myself to.

Skip this one, so hopefully it is canceled and falls into obscurity before those kids are old enough to stumble across it.

Too many people can't take a joke
Steve_7575 October 2022
I'm disappointed that this show got cancelled, as it was starting to get interested by the end of season 1.

Too many people clutch their pearls and say that there can't be a parody of the royal family. Satire should not be just be what will offend the least number of people, but it should also make a point (which this show does despite what the one star reviewers are saying). It pokes fun at the ridiculousness of Britain having an rich out of touch family that isn't special in any way except that their ancestors were also considered "royal". It was funny how they portrayed the royal family having no idea about the value of money in scenes with Harry and Meghan.

Overall, too many people got offended and this show got cancelled, but it had potential to be more.

Not as bad as they'd have you believe.
catharsisdusk-031746 August 2021
Sure, it won't win any awards. You probably won't even remember the episode the next morning. But being bite sized, aggressive, and tasteless enough to occasional surprise (if not titillate) the most jaded comedy viewer. That works to it's advantage.

What did you expect?
bohemianbrunnette1331 July 2021
I am writing this review in response specifically to Orlando Bloom and Sophie's Turners delusion that their children are above being accosted by the paparazzi, but mocking children in the royal family is justifiable. And this is coming from someone who throughly enjoys dark humour. But this show simply articulates the privilege that modern day Hollywood elites expect and live in.

Aside from that glaring issue, the jokes fall as flat as the unimaginative animation style, and make poor japes at other members of the royal family who are legal adults as well. Very disappointed, especially considering that Bloom and Turner have both starred in films that I hold in great esteem.

It's really as bad as they say

They could have done this without the kids in it and with some lessons in comedy and animation and then maybe it wouldn't be the abomination that it is.

Comedy is supposed to push boundaries...
bwaters-877613 August 2021
It's obvious it's just making fun of the royal family as a whole, and clearly isn't meant to depict them accurately. It really IS Family Guy meets The Crown, and I found it hilarious. It's like people don't understand satire anymore...

Edgy and occasionally very funny lambasting of the royal family
basildave13 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
So, I've seen lots of reviews where the main point is that the children of the royals are being viciously attacked in this caricature. I think it's important to remember that this is a cartoon, a satire and yes, completely overblown in its' portrayals. Like most things offensive, it's only bad if it's not actually funny and this show sometimes falls into that category. I try to put myself into the head of a royal watching the show and I feel like it's such an exaggeration that it's not really offensive BUT it's also not as funny as I think they are trying for. There were some poignant and even moving moments with Alan Cummings character mourning his.wife, mixed in with his comedic relationship with Prince George. BTW, I don't interpret this as an attack on the children because they are portrayed more or less as adults. It's kind of funny seeing the other kids in George's class react to him winning everything undeservedly..(and wondering if that's the way it really is).

One thing I do think about is that Sophie Turner and Iwan Rowen are young and now very famous actors (and of course, Orlando Bloom/Alan Cummings were famous even before GoT), so there is a good chance that they would wind up mingling with the Royal Family at some point in the future...hmmm that would be deliciously awkward now wouldn't it?

Disrespectful, sure. But the crime is being unfunny.
ajdsmith31 July 2021
The Windsors is a brilliant satirical take on the royal family - taking elements of the characters (excluding, I presume out of respect, HM The Queen) and taking them to their logical conclusion.

This fails to do that. All the characters seem to be based on a strange fiction, and almost none of the jokes land.

If this didn't include the royal family, it would still be unfunny. Don't waste your time.

Vile and humorless.
maggymaytay31 July 2021
I watched the first episode with my mum and we did not laugh once. It's a painfully obvious Prince George = Stewie rip off, but Gary Janetti hasn't the talent to base a whole show simply off of a bad impression. The creator of "The Prince" started acting as Prince George in Instagram posts in which the little guy criticizes his family and the pop culture of the moment a couple years ago. It was funny, mostly harmless stuff but clearly not enough to base an entire tv show off of. The first episode was utterly charmless and boring.

This is not to mention that it's offensive to mock children, no matter how famous they are. Prince William and Catherine Middleton have been clear about the baseline level of privacy they wish for their children to have. It's shocking to see so many beloved British actors (Alan Cumming? Dan Stevens? Lucy Punch? Orlando Bloom, okay, I believe that.) take part in a production which is at heart, so cruel and callous. Many of the actors previously have rightfully cried out for their own children to have privacy, but do not respect it when it comes to the children of the Royal family. These Brits have lived in LA too long, clearly, and think making fun of a 95-year-old woman who has given her life in service of their homeland is a punchline. Dan Stevens, for one, would have been better sticking to Downton Abbey if this is the kind of premier-level success he left the show to seek out. Ha!

Other shows, such as "The Windsors" gave parodied the Royal family while still maintaining the decency not to go after young children and while respecting the Queen and the late Prince Philip.

Gary Janetti's show should be pulled from HBO Max. I hope he reads every negative review and feels ashamed of himself. A few funny Instagram posts do not equal a successful show.

It's a Decent Show That's Obviously Satire
jgibson9812 August 2021
I'm not a big reviewer but I decided to leave a review for this as I felt I had a more unique perspective than others. I'll start off by saying two important things: I am a fan of adult animation to begin with and regularly watch American Dad, South Park, Family Guy, etc; I regularly follow the Royal Family in the tabloids. As a result of the latter statement, I'm actually rather unbothered by the whole idea that this is "bullying" which many of the other reviews claim. Firstly, South Park and Family Guy are far more brutal in their satire. Secondly, it is extremely obvious - at least to me - that it is satire and is far from truth. It's pretty clear that Kate and William are in a happy marriage, and that they put in a lot of effort giving their children normal lives. It's worth noting they don't live in the palace. It's also abundantly clear that Harry and Megan aren't following the journey their characters follow. As a result, I'm really not bothered that the show is "bullying" when it's clear that it's all untrue, and knowing that the Royal Family are parodied constantly as is. All that said, do I think the show would have been more successful if they chose fictional characters who happened to be similar to the real life royal family? Absolutely. However, I don't think the show is awful. Owen & George's storyline is endearing and the story of the Flummery Tart is quite entertaining. I also love the gay representation of the head butler. It could be funnier but for a first season, I found it entertaining enough. I finished the whole season and I'd be willing to watch a second - so long as they continue the entertaining storylines and stay away from being too "real" with their satire.

Mirthless garbage and cheap shots
Bojo37530 July 2021
A boring ego project in which real, non-fiction children are unironically mocked and satirized by a rich and out-of-touch Hollywood writer/producer - who self-indulgently voices the main character in a weak imitation of Baby Stevie from Family Guy, thanks to his middling voice-over ability.

A tired, classless, irresponsible, and totally unnecessary attempt at cashing in on passé tabloid pop culture.

This show is amazing!
carolinemorcom24 November 2021
I can't believe the reviews I'm seeing. This show is hilarious and obviously poking fun at the royals. I'm not sure why anyone would think this show isn't funny. I'm watching it for a second time and it's still cracking me up. I feel like everyone needs to stop taking themselves so seriously and enjoy this perfectly executed gem!

Fun but not funny
ranijklm23 August 2021
I binge watched this series in two days. Not as bad as I thought it would be. Surprisingly good and entertaining, just a little cringy and the jokes are just--let's skip that part. I love the last two episodes, really brought curiousity to me and it was the time this show got really exciting.

Vile language, boring and disrespectful
walkerwild31 July 2021
When I say this I mean it! All the people who are saying its amazing and oh it's funny are sick and twisted. This is a show based on The royal Family through a Fake and savvy Prince George who shouldn't be the target of relentless bullying. I don't know what went through the producers heads when making this rubbish! It's disrespectful to the British royal family and just because according to some "British People are crying" they are probably very disappointed that this has been allowed to air. I certainly wouldn't like it if someone did this to my children! Disgusting!

This is funny. Harry's fish out of water, Meghan's constant reference to Suits, the "help's" Downton Abbey routine, the Queen's constant F bombs. I loved it. It's a cartoon, just watch it and laugh yall.

Tasteless
Mel-2293331 July 2021
Many of these actors fiercely protect their own children from any intrusion but it sits comfortable with them to set young children up to be mocked and possibly bullied and teased by their peers at school. They're shameful hypocrites. Do as you please with satire using adults but leave kids alone.
