Most people behave out of character

Warning: Spoilers
Mike is away from home just a day before his business partner Ed marries Vanessa's mother, Bonnie. Mike is directing Mandy to be more involved in the preparations because her mother is behaving erratically. Here, Mandy is being quite baby like, actually asking why her pregnant older sister can't do it since "she's known Mom longer."

When Vanessa comes home, she reveals to Mandy that she "ruined her mom's marriage to her father," telling Mandy how she saw the wedding certificate and did some math to figure out that she was "at" that wedding. Mandy's reaction was that her Grandma was "cool."

There was a scene where we learned that Eve couldn't get leave from the Air Force Academy, allowing Jen to take over and wear her bridesmaid dress. Kristin had also purchased a dress but now insisted it wouldn't fit since she was pregnant, and had been for several months. One wonders how long ago she ordered the dress and why she didn't prepare for this, since the wedding date with the church was surely not something only planned a couple of weeks ago.

Vanessa asks Mandy to keep track of Ed because he did some embarrassing things at at least a couple of his prior marriages. Mandy goes to Ed's office the day of the wedding and finds him about to change into his tux and go to the church. She leaves the office for him to change and while talking with Chuck in Mike's office, learns that Ed has suddenly left the store and left behind his tuxedo.

Vanessa and her mother talk about Vanessa knowing that she was pregnant with her at her first wedding and they agree that keeping secrets is not always a good thing.

Much of the next several minutes are spent with everyone quite worried about where Ed went, but they eventually learn he is at the hospital, and we quickly learn it is because he is passing a kidney stone. Ed explains he thought he could take care of this matter quickly and still make it to the wedding, but learned the stone was the size of a meatball and he had to be admitted. It was quite inconsiderate of him to just take off and make everyone worry about him. Even more so, when he learned he had to be admitted to the hospital, he never made an effort to let anyone know what happened to him.

So the wedding party all comes to the hospital, and Mike has made it back in time to perform the ceremony, that now includes Kyle, Chuck, Ryan, along with Mandy, Kristin, Jen, and Vanessa. We see only a glimpse of the ceremony then conclude with Mike talking about secrets on his vlog.

I really think this episode had fewer laughs than most-could that be partly because Mike was not in many scenes? I do believe the real criticisms I'm about to make are not the reason why there weren't many laughs, I just think it was a weak script.

I strongly object to Mandy labeling her grandma being pregnant before her first marriage as "cool." With all she knows about her older sister's similar situation, it truly doesn't seem like she would think that way. It surely wasn't cool to be expecting before you got married 50 years ago.

The short scene with Vanessa talking to her mother about this subject included a couple of rather distasteful references to her mother and father's pre-marital sex life-things that virtually no child ever wants to discuss with their own parents. Bonnie actually made the first comment here, something that seems really out of line for someone supposed to be around 70 years old.

Now they had rented a church for this ceremony, and we had Ryan and Jen talking about being ushers at one point. But when they suddenly moved the wedding to the hospital, it seems all the invited guests were just told at the last minute that the wedding would no longer include them, but thanks for coming and you can leave your presents at the church.

Just the notion that Vanessa would learn the date of her parents' marriage so many decades later seems odd. Did they pretend it was a year earlier than it was, and lie to her and her sister for decades about how long they had been married? And how come there was no mention of Vanessa's sister, no even to say why she wasn't coming to her own mother's wedding? For that matter, why was Boyd not present at his great-grandma's wedding? He also wasn't mentioned.

This series rarely had so many flaws in their scripts. The behavior, as described, of Mandy, Bonnie, Vanessa, Ed, and even Kristin to a lesser extent, was less than what we expect of these normally likeable people. I have to give this one only a 4. It was one of the series' weakest episodes in my opinion.
