Stories were ok....better then the 2nd one I honestly feel they waited to long to make these sequels part 1 will forever be a classic....but part 3 is ok

While escaping from an evil thing, an old man (Tony Todd) listens to four horror tales told by a young girl (Sage Arrindell).
1st "Ruby Gates") The landlord David Burr (London Brown) needs to evict his last tenant, the Bradford Family, from his apartment building to make lots of money in a profitable construction business. However, the family refuses to leave the place since their son is treating cancer in a hospital near to the building. David decides to hire a low life to burn down the Bradford apartment to get rid of the tenants, but things go wrong.
2nd "The Bunker") A racist man is alone in a bunker promoting a white supremacy, but something unexpected happens.
3rd "Operatic") The backing vocal Chela Simpson (Savannah Basley) has an argument with the lead singer and is fired. She meets the agent Park (Jaime M. Callica), who introduces her to the former opera singer Marie Benoit (Lynn Whitfield), who is a wealthy woman and needs a caregiver. When Park convinces Chela to kill Marie to use her money to promote her career, she learns dark secrets.
4th "Dope Kicks") A small time thief robs defenseless people to rob wallets, cellphones, and sneakers. When he accidentally kills a victim, his aunt conjures a curse that affects his life.
In general, the tales are predictable but entertains fans of horror movies. My vote is six.

The previous reviewer mentioned the film is a ripoff of Skeleton Key and to a lesser extent Batteries Not Included. Though I understand why they would mention Batteries Not Included saying it's a ripoff is stretching it quite a bit. However there is a story that flat out rips off Skeleton Key. With that aside the stories are enjoyable and it looks like it sticks to its roots of being a social commentary coupled with horror. Unlike the second film (which stars one of my actors the legendary Keith David) the social commentary doesn't seem as forced. It's on full display in the second story which borrows a twist that mimics the Twilight Zone episode People Are Alike All Over where as the rest of the segments let it play out more naturally. I actually liked the way the twist was applied here in the second story as it made me grin. This time out Tony Todd and a young child provide the wraparound story. Todd is phenomenal as always, but I wished he had more to do. The child does a good job as she tells the stories and the it has a satisfying ending, however the CG in the scene nearly kills it. If you can get past the CG and ripping off Skeleton Key its worth a watch. Nowhere near on par with the first but better than the second.

I grew up on Tales From the Hood (and Tales From the Crypt). 1995's movie starred the great Clarence Williams III. It effectively blended human issues, crime and drama, with the supernatural, horror and dark humor. 2020's movie needed more of horror legend Tony Todd and less London Brown. London Brown is a terrible actor. I made it 41 minutes with commercials and deleted my recording.

If anyone tells you that this is close to the original in terms of ANYTHING. They're are lying and they worked on the movie. That said, The first movie is a PERFECT STANDALONE MASTERPIECE. The reason they keep failing with these sequels is because you cannot improve on perfection and really to be honest the directors are just out of touch at this point. The tone, dialogue, pacing, soundtrack, score, plot, social commentary, humor, horror, and despair of the first movie are NOWHERE TO BE FOUND in the unnecessary sequels that follow. I get it, Rusty and Darin(the directors, respectfully) saw the success of GET OUT and thought this was a good time to jump back in to the black horror genre. Well if that was the case they should've fought for a national theatrical re-release of the first movie because they sequels are absolute GARBAGE. PART 2 AND 3 and they are EQUALLY bad no one is better than the other.

A Total Insult to this cult classic! Weak stories with no fright factor. Spike Lee just received a check for using his name or with time his skills have deteriorated! And using Tony Todd to sell an audience is even more Pitiful!!!
The second segment is very creative n the overall film a decent one to enjoy this Halloween season.

The first one is ur typical greed n revenge a la Japanese horror films wher ghosts return to take revenge.
The second is the best about a racist guy hiding in a bunker.
The third is very predictable about an aged n ill opera singer with tons of cash n jewelry n no heir or relatives n nursed by two strangers.
The last one is kinda funny. The guy who played the robber is surely suffering from side effects of steroids which itself is hilarious.
Watch out for the second, a creative one.

Watch for yourself. This movie is not bad at all considering it's a sequel. Some of the reviews are crazy and off mark. Please judge for yourself. It stays true to the nature of its predecessors. Definitely entertaining.

I was so excited to watch this after the first two now I am just angry I wasted two hours of my life. Please rename this movie so it does not tarnish the series. Call it Tales from the Ghetto since it is straight A B-Movie

I rented this earlier in the week not expecting much with nothing to lose. Pleasantly surprised. This film is more funny than it is scary, my favorite story being the 3rd, but the main actor in the 4th story was my favorite player in the entire film (yes I liked him better than even Tony Todd).
BTW, I am hardcore fan of the original film since '96. I can recite that entire movie, and I watch it atleast 3 times a year. I didnt dig the 2nd film much at all, but this 3rd I liked so much that I found myself thinking about it st work the next morning, then I went back to redbox a couple nights later and bought it, then watched it again. Just sayin' so you know this isnt a BS account created to boost ratings. You can check all my reviews, ratings, and history on this website since the early 2000's.
Praises to Cundieff and Scott and the entire cast / crew involved. It has definitely brightened my mood in these COVID times.

Tony Todd has picked up a girl from school and is walking her to his place. They must be quiet or else the monsters/demons will hear them. The little girl tell Todd four horror stories. 1) a developer goes to great lengths to get a family to move. 2) White supremacist in a bunker. 3) Back up singer who wants to be a star 4) a criminal walks in his victims shoes.
The stories were fairly decent. I really liked the second one having a Twilight Zone twist.

I tried so hard to enjoy this movie. Even candyman himself couldn't save it. Which was a big disappointment. Didn't help seeing the knock off skeleton key portion. This could of been great. Yet it wasn't. Honestly they should of just left it with Tales from the Hood. Bc 2 made a mockery of what was loved by the first. This seemed like an apology for 2. Which still didn't make up for that embarrassment of a "anthology".

Almost didn't watch this after the mess from the 2nd one. However, this one is a much better successor to the original Tales from the Hood. The stories were much more entertaining, creative, and thought out with the exception of The Bunker, which was yet another cliche woke crap. The last story is the best, both hilarious and freaky.

Tales From the Hood 3 is nowhere near as good as the original, but at least it's not as terrible at the 2nd one. The first story is your average greed gets you killed story. The second is the best one and it's about a guy hiding in a bunker. The third is about an aging opera singer being nursed by two strangers. The last one is amusing enough, but the second story is the best.

The original Tales From the Hood is a cult classic for good reason. It is my second fave horror anthology(ABCs of Death just! beating it) and is a horror film I love very fondly. If you haven't seen it, see it!
Part 2 was full of bad camera work, worse acting, and some of the most bonkers stuff you could think of to put on screen. It is a Z grade film, that gets everything so wrong on a technical level that it becomes oddly charming. In other words it is a pure so bad it's good and I find it hilarious. A lot of people hate it(and I can see why!) but I love it for much the same reason so many people like Troll 2.
But that of course asks, what kind of film would part 3 be? A cult classic social commentary dark horror film like the original, or a trash fire comedy miss step like part 2?
Well part 3 feels very much like it was made in response to the bad feed back part 2 got. The film plays itself VERY safe. Only one of the four stories is even actually a commentary on racism. The rest could take place in any old anthology series. All the stories are a lot more down to Earth and much less over the top then anything was in part 2, or even the original. This does make the film pretty predictable. Since it is playing things so held back and safe you will be able to call out the plot twists well before they happen. A lot of people are going to complain that this film is very paint by numbers and formulaic.
BUT along with playing things much more by the numbers the film makes itself much more competently. Camera work, good, acting good, pacing, good. Nothing is AMAZING! But there are no bad miss steps anywhere besides some weak CGI here and there. I do feel the one story about racism, the second one, is pretty darn good and feels like it would have been at home in the first film. The third story, though as said it could be from any horror anthology series, is still a good story that is well done and charming. It also has the first queer character for the series! Cool! :) The other two stories though predictable are by no means bad. So yes, this is an anthology with not a single bad story! Which is pretty good in my book.
Ya, you can nit pick it(the idea of this like six year old telling a grown man about a story where a man has sex with a blowup doll is pretty wonderfully absurd), but if you do you'll be just hating it for hating it sake.
No, this is a light going, turn your mind off, grab some Halloween candy with friends, kind of horror film. It's time killer, but very well done time killer and I think fans of the original will be over all pleased.

I still hate admitting that Tales from the Hood 2 was a let-down. The first film is one of my favorite non-Amicus anthology films, so I was expecting so much. And just when I expected nothing from this film, it surprised me at every turn, becoming nearly as good as the original.
Co-writer and co-director Rodney Cundieff (who wrote and directed this with Darin Scott) even admitted as much, telling Pod of Madness, "The stories, you know, they're not as big as the first Tales. But I do think that the stories are stronger, overall, than the second one, and the look of the film is better, a lot to do with the locations that we found."
The framing story, "The Mouths of Babes and Demons," is about an old man named William (Tony Todd) trying to distract the six-year-old Brooklyn from the terror chasing them by listening to her tell him the four stories in this movie.
"Ruby Gates" is about a real-estate agent struggling to remove the last family in an apartment complex from their home. It's followed by "The Bunker," in which we think we're seeing a MAGA white male (Cooper Huckabee from The Funhouse) rant and rave, which we are, but have no idea exactly why he remains so special. "Operatic" makes perfect use of the talents of Lynn Whitfield in the story of an elderly performer who continually watches the one time she was allowed to perform Carmen before racism took away her singing career and the lengths to which performers will go to succeed. Finally, in "Dope Kicks," the moral is you can take anything from a man, but never steal his shoes.
While this is the first movie in the series without Mr. Simms, this movie is a strong entry in the horror anthology genre, as well as a return to form for Cundieff and Scott. Here's hoping that Tales from the Hood 4 is on the way.

Tales from the Hood 3 (2020) I rented off Amazon Prime for $5.99. The storyline centers around an aging man scurrying a little girl to safety while being followed. To distract the child the old man convinces the little girl to tell him various stories she heard. The stories in this are very good and well presented. I loved the settings, costumes and scripts. The undertow a of the subplots within the primary storylines was also good. There are several scenes that relies on CGI too much; but overall, this is infinitely better than the second Tales from the Hood and almost as good as the original. I'd give this a 7/10. This movie is directed by Rusty Condieff (The original Tales from the Hood and episode of The Chappelle Show) and Darin Scott (Dark House) and stars Tony Todd (Candy Man), Savannah Basley (Wyonna Earp), London Brown (Ballers), Natasha Burnett (iZombie) and Alec Carlos.
Stories were ok with weird endings

All the stories were decent but had weird over the top supernatural endings. The 2nd story was obviously the best followed by the 1st, 4th, wrap around, then 3rd. I will say the thing thats missing from the TFTH sequels, is that the moral of the stories are too conventional and simple, not like the 1st movie where you could play it in any urban school, detention/community center etc and it was powerful enough to scare at least a couple people straight
