Warning: Spoilers
I waited and waited and waited for anything to happen til the movie ended and nothing happened at all. They had this Hitman 47 knock-off guy that they kept showing us preparing to do something, anything and looked menacing af but yo he never got to do anything at all. Like bruh, okay you know how most movies do that thing where they have this boogieman character in the background that the movie keep cutting to getting ready or is on their way to confront our protagonist right? Yeah and best of all most movies would introduce them to us the audience in the first act then to our protagonist on the second act, demolish our protagonist then in the third act they have a climactic showdown and our hero inevitably win over evil; classic stuff right. Yeah naw not here.... We are shown that boogieman but they never meet our protagonist and as a consequence there were ZERO conflict in the movie just BORING characters and BORING and meaningless conversations. All and all, this is the very movie that your friends complain about when they say they don't like "ARTHOUSE films"... this movie doesn't justify its existence at all.

Major waste of time - Incredibly bad
AlienLover30007 January 2024
How on Earth do these movies even get funded and made? Do people not read the script? Did they even finish film school?

There is "some" semblance of a plot and character development but it goes absolutely nowehere and the movie has one of the slowest paces in recent memory.

It will dare you to fall asleep with its snail pacing.

The only upside to staying awake are watching the three female leads who are all beautiful, but their talents are wasted. Sarah Dumont is a natural beauty, yet she plays some character behind a counter. Midnight Judy was a beauty to behold - but what was the point of it all?

The romance between the female lead and the Asian guy is laughable.

Like the others have said B>O>R>I>N>G. I really don't know why i continued to watch it. Avoid it like the Plague unless you have nothing better to do with your life.

Pretty fascinating

I found this to be a quite fascinating film. Beautiful cinematography, an excellent synthwave score and great performances (Yutaka Takeuchi is especially likeable). Very much inspired by Nicolas Winding Refn's style of filmmaking. It takes our leads on a journey through a sort of surreal, fever dream version of Los Angeles. Never is it fully explained of what is going on. It leaves much open to interpretation and that makes this film very rewatchable. Some of the dialogue is a little rough and it is definitely not a film for everyone but also not the worst thing ever. It is great for what it is.

Sexy Neo Noir

"Drive All Night" is a heady, dreamlike trip of a movie.

This is a work of aesthetics above all else and in that regard, it more than delivers. Gorgeous colors. Top notch sound and score. Interesting framing.

That said, "Drive All Night" is not at all conventional so this won't be for everyone. But if you like Refn and Lynch movies, you're probably going to get on this flick's wavelength and groove with it. It took me some time but eventually, my mind stopped trying to solve a puzzle and I just let the movie wash over me. Glad I did.

If you're looking for something odd, fresh and damned fine-looking, you should give this one a shot.

I look forward to seeing what Peter Hsieh and his team tackle next.

A good little indie

I quite enjoyed this one, it's got a decent score that powers through and creates a surreal atmosphere along with some interesting framing. Some of the scenes you won't understand but the director made them that way to add some questions. If you like movies that contain a lot of neon lighting and intrigue along with a smoky atmosphere throughout definitely give this one a whirl. There are a couple of places you can get a Blu Ray copy of it online. It's definitely a film that requires more than one viewing. All of the actresses do an excellent job and I'd like to see them do more. Give this one a shot.
