Not great, but watchable
aweirdsylvia22 March 2020
I liked Samatha and how diabolical she was. Some times her acting was unbearable, but all in all I liked her. Plot was pretty standard, not the first time I've seen something like this but it was at least decent. However, It's a little far-fetched to believe any sane family would trust her. And the friends were really clueless as well. There's no mistaking the feeling of someone holding onto your foot while you're under water, so it's strange her friends didn't make a big deal about it.

One of the things that really put me off was the almost r*pe scene. Samatha told the guy that the daughter "like it rough," not being forced. There's a big difference, so that scene was really strange imo.

If it weren't for the extremely underwhelming ending I would've liked this more

Daddy issues
metfan41221 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Your standard LMN bad daughter trying to ruin her new family. The whole cast was very good, with one exception, the father. He is a dunce, like most Lifetime movies. And he had this weak pouty face constantly, no matter the situation, all while mumbling his words.

We get to ride along with the evil daughter Samantha as she tries to undo her estranged father's new family. One by one she tries to get even with each member.

As far as the end, we see how far she will really take her revenge, but we never get to see what eventually happened to Samantha after the cops arrived. Instead it cuts to a scene of the family together again frolicking in the sunshine, meh.

Not a bad beginning, but plenty of stupid parts to come.

Warning: Spoilers
It began slightly slow but picked up, although not for the better. Most of the stupid parts were near the end. I agree with the other reviewer, the dunce dad mumbles. Does he have lockjaw? He singlehandedly makes this lousy movie hard to watch. The scene where the brother gets injured is ridiculousLy sophomoric. And what's with the news woman? Was this the high school channel? The stupid mother absolutely asked for what happened to her at the end. One good thing, the locations and sets were nice.

A typical LMN movie until the end
dttruman23 April 2020
The plot was a typical LMN movie about a family with an unstable relative that moves in with them. It follows the same pattern where the unstable relative wreaks havoc until the naive members of the family confront her. At the end, the mother confronts her and does the most stupidest thing I ever seen in a LMN movie. This movie would have got 5 stars, but with this ending it lost 2 stars.

I FF to the last 20 minutes

Warning: Spoilers
Nothing new or really interesting here. I won't rehash the plot, but I'll say I got tired of watching it. I understand that it's part of the plot, but no one ever questions why all these things start happening when a person arrives in their lives. It's very rare this isn't the case, but the majority of these films have people die before they wake up. The father was the most gullible and as a doctor, I'm sure he had to have even a basic understanding of psychology.

I realize we all watch these knowing what we're in for, but this movie would have been a change of pace had Sam just been waging psychological and emotional warfare on the family...only to have her worldview shattered by the knowledge that her mom kept her from her dad and his family. Without the body count, she could have had a final breakdown and they could have shown the family trying to heal from everything, Sam included, in therapy sessions or something. I just find myself wondering why these villains always have to kill. Nothing here justifies it to me.

Then the ending..is she dead? In a hospital? Prison? Completely abrupt ending.

Give it a watch if you want to, but I did quit half way through to get to the end.

So unrealistic
There's no way this one girl could so easily manipulate an entire family the way she did. In reality she would've been tossed out of that house after her first night there.

It was frustrating to watch these characters so poorly written to be to easily manipulated and possessing zero thinking skills. The mother was the only one who noticed what was going on, but even she wouldn't come right out and call the psycho girl out.

And the Dad with the non stop goofy grin on his face throughout the whole movie was so annoying you want to punch that grin right off his face. I'm rating it 4 stars because I liked the psycho girl.

Ok plot but the actress who played the evil was such a terrible actress. She was way over the top and exaggerated every scene.

Cheesy TV movie
Stanlee10719 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This reeks at being a glorified TV movie with so many one dimensional characters that are so bad it is unintentionally comical.

The simple plotline is that an estranged daughter comes to live with her dad after many years of separation. However, her dad has moved on and had another family. They welcome her into the family but there is something quite off with her... The title of the film gives away the twist...

If you like your soap operas drama you might enjoy this but for the rest of you, this is one cheese feast of a film that is as predictable as it idiot.

Psycho half sister rings true
phd_travel19 January 2020
The movie has some good and bad points.

Firstly the wacko of the week is a jealous daughter from the first marriage who comes to stay with her Dad and his second wife and kids. Dad feels guilty. Step mom notices the wacko isn't qutie right. Wacko proceeds to manipulate her half sister and stir trouble with the parent's marriage. It's quite scary because her actions are possible and I know of some crazy half sisters who are almost as bad.

Bad points: Matt Dallas is such an experienced actor but as Dad he acts stiffly with a silly smile and his behavior at the ending is too understated for what is going on. Was it the director?

OK for one watch.

Typical LMN movie
mzefabulous2 August 2021
This is the typical movie where one of the spouse see the light and the other one is so dumb and lost that they couldn't see the light even if it's right in their eyes. The father was unbearable to watch.

Sullen Sam Takes Over a Family
lavatch7 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The influence that Samantha "Sam" Carlisle exerts on her "new" family was unconvincing from start to finish. Dr. Greg Carlisle and his wife, Dr. Katie Carlisle, have two beautiful children in Tommy and Lauren. In short order, Sam takes a wrecking ball to that family.

In his first marriage, Greg had sired Sam, but the ex-wife forbade her from ever having contact with her father. But after the mother died while inside a house that "exploded," young Sam has now taken up residence with Greg, Katie, and the kids. Her intention is to have her beloved dad to herself.

Greg was so gullible in failing to recognizing the danger signs of Sam's erratic behavior that the family conflicts were never believable. Sam sets up poor Lauren, who is nearly assaulted by soccer player Milo Venetta. Sam convinces Greg to believe that his wife was intimate with Ryan, the nice auto mechanic and soccer coach. Sam pushes Tommy down a hill, resulting in a broken leg. Greg never understands the workings of his daughter's mind until it is too late.

The film was far too unpleasant with the death poor Heather Hewitt, stabbed by Sam, who deposits Heather's body deep in the Sactacose Woods of the North Valley. Katie's dear friend Ryan is bludgeoned to death. Katie herself is stabbed in the abdomen by Sam, who even intends to kill her siblings, whom she calls Tweedledee and Tweedledum.

The film's denouement that depicts a happy Carlisle family united in a playful romp in the park rang hollow, especially after Greg's complete betrayal of Katie. It is difficult to imagine how that relationship could ever be repaired.
