Sex & Nudity

  • Kai tells Legosi about Shiira's past as a worker at a dominatrix club. During his story, you briefly see Shiira wearing a slightly suggestive/revealing outfit.
  • Some suggestive references and innuendos, rarely said. Suggestive references and innuendos are fairly tame, with nothing explicit being said so it might fly over most people's heads. Plus, nothing explicit is ever depicted or shown, with really the only thing being a scene where you see a female character in her bra and underwear for a few seconds.
  • Although the show has a reputation for being very sexually explicit, it's actually just moderate and fairly tame.
  • In Season 2, other than one scene in a strip club, sexual content is very tame.
  • An episode has scenes focusing on a character's previous sexual relationships and her reasoning behind them. Detail is discrete with no nudity.
  • In Season 2, Legoshi is seen shirtless a few times. It is always when he is either training, or in some sort of physical altercation.
  • One of the main female characters has a habit of having sex with several male characters, even without establishing a relationship first.
  • A female character is kidnapped and one of the kidnappers tries to take her clothes by force but is stopped. She is later forced to take all her clothes off. Only the rear nudity is shown directly and the front nudity is shown without much detail from a mirror.
  • A male character gives another a hentai manga to see if he has a sexual fetish for rabbits. A suggestively dressed rabbit is seen on the cover.
  • A male character grabs the breasts of a female character
  • Female characters work as strippers in a nightclub. In one scene, one of them does a sexual dance and takes off her clothes in front of an audience. Only rear nudity is shown.

Violence & Gore

  • Blood is rarely shown and usually mild. No gore.
  • A report on a murder in a city is shown on the news. On the screen you only see a little bit of the dead body, as most of it is covered up by a bench and trash can. All you see is the ankles, feet with shoes, and a small pool of blood underneath.
  • A scratch wound is inflicted upon Haru's arm from Legosi by accident. But it's more mild than moderate since only a little bit of blood is shown, and it was accidental.
  • Kai gets angry at Louis and goes to punch him but his punch is blocked by Legosi, who uses his arm to block the punch.
  • Tem is running away from an unknown killer. He has some blood on his left arm but he uses his right hand to cover most of it. Eventually, he's cornered in a very dark room before he's murdered. While the actual murder isn't depicted, it is referenced. The murder is the trigger for the events of the anime.
  • Scenes of violence with some blood shown occasionally.
  • A previously peaceful lead character has a voilent altercation with a group of tougher animals. There is some violence and stylised slow-motion blood but overall the scenes do not dwell on pain or injury.
  • Season 2 is much more violent than Season 1. Bloody altercations occur frequently between characters, a character is accidentally dismembered, shootouts, and more all occur. There is no actual gore, but there is lots of blood when these scenes occur.

Profanity

  • If translated accurately, Damn is used 5x, Dammit is used 3x, Hell is used 7x, Bastard is used 1x, Pissed is used 1x, Ass is used 1x, and Dumbass is used 2x, in season 1 (episodes 1-12). This applies only to the Japanese version when translated accurately.
  • Mild profanity in the Japanese version.
  • A few mild cuss words are said. Beware that there is some profanity in the anime with the worst word said in the Japanese version being Dumbass, which is said twice. There's worse profanity in the English version on Netflix, with the worst words said being Shit, which is said once, and Slut, which is said twice.
  • There is one use of Shit in the Netflix English Dub.
  • Some sexual swearwords in some translations. The language is restricted to one scene where a character challenges another but it's use is not sexual in nature.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Gouhin lights and smokes a cigarette when he's talking to Legosi.
  • Drug deals at the Dark Market are briefly mentioned.
  • Brief scene where a character smokes in an episode.
  • A few brief drug references, a scene where a characters smokes, and a brief depiction of pills. Pretty mild, to be honest.
  • What is sold at the Black Market is very synonymous to actual illegal drugs, especially considering scenes where people are depicted as addicts of the Black Market products

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The anime can be very emotional at times with the 3 main protagonists, Legosi, Louis, and Haru, all having sad backgrounds, and going through some tough events throughout the anime. The anime is also dark, mature, and serious with the events being triggered by a murder, and the events after the murder sometimes being tragic. The plot is mainly a mixture of Coming of Age, Drama, Mystery, Romance, Slice of Life, and Thriller.
  • An after-credits scene is quite intense. It leaves off with a very interesting and intense cliffhanger.
  • Legosi (the wolf guy and one of the 3 main protagonists) suffers from anxiety, depression, and loneliness. While he does have his best friend Jack, and slowly becomes friends with Louis, Haru, Juno, and Gouhin, he does become more open and less shy but still suffers through those problems, occasionally. A lot of people could easily relate to him, and may be a little emotional and sensitive to the things he goes through.
  • One of the main plot points of the anime involves the murder of a student at Cherryton High School, and the events caused by the murder.
  • (Deleted. Personal opinions about suitable viewing ages are not appropriate for the Parents Guide.)
  • Official ratings are given above.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Sex & Nudity

  • At the end of Episode 2, Legosi and Haru are in the Gardening Club room together. While Legosi closes his eyes and starts thinking about what to tell her about the night before, when she was attacked, Haru takes off her dress. Haru starts walking towards Legosi, which ends up having Legosi open his eyes because he hears her footsteps. Legosi sees Haru in her bra, underwear, socks, and shoes for a few seconds as she tells him that she'll try her best to enjoy "it", even if "it's rough".
  • At the beginning of Episode 3, Legosi is shocked at seeing Haru without her dress. She starts to unbutton his shirt, and rub her hands on his belly fur. Legosi is horrified by this, and runs out of the room, quickly buttoning up his shirt.
  • In Episode 5, Louis and Haru are in a hospital room. Louis tells Haru that he loves her, and he puts his hand on her face while she puts her hand on his hand. They kiss once as they drift into the bed. Nothing else is shown.
  • In Episode 10, Haru has a flashback about her first boyfriend. During the flashback, we see her boyfriend tell her that he loves her, and he kisses her, once. We then see the side of a bed with clothes on the floor, next to the bed. Then, we see a top-down view of the top-half of the bed with Haru on the bottom, and her boyfriend on top. All we see, is Haru's head, her boyfriend's back and his hands holding Haru's hands. Haru then says that, "The bed has no lies."
  • In Episode 12, after Legosi and Haru check out of Hotel Roses, he says, "Thankfully, nothing happened."
  • In Episode 12, Juno chases Haru in the school halls. She ends up cornering her, and sniffs her. During this, Haru says, "Why do I keep attracting all of these wolves?" When Juno is done sniffing, she tells Haru, "Good. You didn't do 'it' with Legosi."
  • In Episode 11, Legosi and Haru have to stay at a love hotel called, Hotel Roses, because they missed the last bus to their hometown, and they don't have enough money to stay at any other hotels in the area. While there, Legosi tries to kiss Haru twice but is stopped both times. First time, she has him wash his shirt because of a bloodstain on it, and even takes his shirt off for him. Second time, her prey instincts activate.
  • In Episode 12, while Legosi and Haru are in a bed together, Legosi says that they shouldn't force intimacy, to which Haru says she feels bad, shifting her gaze to his lower regions(his back is facing us so we can't see anything). Legosi has an embarrassed reaction in which he blushes and says that it will "go away on its own"(indicating that he was erect). This is portrayed as comedic more than anything else.
  • At the beginning of episode 3 Haru starts to take off Legosi's pants, Legosi simply stares in shock unable to speak as Haru asks Legosi if his fur "Reaches down there" she starts reaching down his pants when Legosi comes to his senses and stops Haru before she goes any further.
  • In Season 2: Episode 4, two characters (herbivores) in a strip club are performing a show for the Carnivores. Both of the characters are nude, but the breasts, vulva, etc. are covered by their arms and lighting. In one scene, a female deer is shouting at Louis and Shishigumi members nude, and the outline of her left nipple is showing, but it is mostly covered by the stage lights.

Violence & Gore

He's stopped however by Louis, who fires a bullet from his gun near the leader. When the leader turns around, Louis loads his gun and shoots the leader in the mouth. The view then changes to Louis shooting the leader, with blood splattering out (framed in shadow) and as the leader's body drops dead, we see the bullet hole, with blood and brains dripping briefly from the wound.
  • In Episode 6, while Legosi, Bill, Aoba, and Tao are at the Dark Market, a homeless moose offers them to eat his fingers in exchange for money. While Bill is tempted by this, Legosi is horrified by this, and punches Bill, once, so he can "snap out of it." Legosi ends up telling him that the Dark Market is horrible and wrong, and he runs away from the place.

Eventually, Louis punches Legosi, and they start fighting. They exchange punches and kicks before they're stopped by some nearby students. No blood is shown.
  • In Episode 10, when Legosi is in the Dark Market looking for the Shishigumi hideout to save Haru, he's confronted by two cats, with one of them putting a knife to his neck, and saying that his fur would sell for a high price. Suddenly, Gouhin shows up and fires a bolt from his crossbow near the cat with the knife. Frightened by this, the two cats run away.
  • In Episode 10, Legosi breaks into the room where the Shishigumi leader and Haru are in. He knocks the leader out with a bat. Eventually, the leader wakes up and starts to fight him. No blood is shown.
  • In Episode 11, Legosi and the Shishigumi leader fight each other. At some point during the fight, the leader bites Legosi's arm, which causes Legosi to get some blood on his arm and the leader to get some blood on his mouth. Later, Legosi knocks the leader on the floor, and bites him in the neck in a certain spot that knocks out the leader but won't kill him or cause him to bleed out. Legosi ends up with some blood on his mouth, a small bloodstain on his shirt, and a black eye.
  • An argument in the Cherryton High School cafeteria happens between a red fox student and an african wild dog student, after the fox accidentally stepped on the dog's tail. As the dog is yelling at the fox, the fox tries to calm the dog down. The fox is eventually punched by the dog, which starts a fight, with them exchanging punches and kicks. The fight is stopped when Legosi yells at them, "Cut it out!" No blood is shown.
  • In Episode 10, when Legosi and Gouhin break into the Shishigumi hideout to save Haru, they fight a ton of the members. 2 of them are shot in the back by bolts from Gouhin's crossbow, no blood is shown. The rest of the fighting is punching and kicking. At some point, Gouhin gets a bloody nose, and one of the members gets one too.
  • In Season 2, a character's genitals are severed offscreen. He does this to make money.
  • In Season 2, while doing a stretching exercise with another character, a character's arm accidentally gets ripped off. Lots of blood is seen, and the detached arm is shown. The character ends up okay in the end.
  • In season 2, we get to see Rouis become a cannibal through eating herbivore meat. He always then throws up after eating the plate of meat
  • Legoshi eats louis foot. You can see the blood from his mouth. You also see louis bleeding from his leg
  • Riz and legoshi fight in the men's shower. It's brutal and bloody.

Profanity

  • There is two uses of Slut in the Netflix English Dub. Both times it's said are about Haru. The word is said in Episode 3.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • In Episode 4, Bill plans to drink a vial of rabbit blood during the play, in order to get high, but is stopped by Legosi and Louis.
  • In the after-credits scene in Episode 12, you see a bucket with 6 pills in it for a few seconds.
  • Riz the bear has to take special drugs everyday to reduce his muscle mass.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Legosi struggles between his predator instincts and his secret love for Haru (starting in episode 3), sometimes, before ultimately deciding he loves Haru in episode 7.
  • In Episode 9, Haru is kidnapped by the Shishigumi, a Yakuza lion gang that hunts and eats herbivores. They threaten her to strip naked and treat her in a harassing way. Although nothing explicit is shown, this could be uncomfortable or disturbing for some viewers.
  • In Episode 9, Louis has a flashback of his past which is kind of dark. This scene could be frightening and intense for younger viewers.
  • In Episode 9 a female character is forced to undress against her will with a threat of cannibalism to follow although the nudity is obscured. This is preceded by a mild scene of sexual threat when a male character straddles her and alludes to seeing if "her fur color is the same all over".
  • Episode 10 features a character being stripped naked to humiliate her though nudity is obscured. Her aggressor possibly alludes to "humiliating her with love" but any further attacks are stopped short.
  • Tem's killer (In a First person view) walks up to Legosi who he recognizes, Legosi then calls them a "Friend" as he talks to them and then starts asking them why they are smiling. (It is presumed that the killer either knows about him and Haru or plans to frame Legosi for Tem's death)
  • Episode 19 is quite saddening and disturbing because it describes the murder of Tem. With a building up friendship and emphatic relationship, seeing this murder unfold and how it ends with a hallucination is intense and upsetting to watch
