Dark Twist with Thrill 🔥
Season 1 was incomplete. After completing season 2 I wanna say that it is one of the best of Hoichoi indeed. Cinamatography & story telling was just wow!! Background music induces the vibe. Star casts have done their job accurately. It will grip you to end. In short, a good web series from Hoichoi Svf than other cringy fests!!

Combination of thriller and human emotion.

Warning: Spoilers
This web series deals with a girls life. She comes back to the house where she used to live many years ago.And what complexity this incident brings to the family and what story is revealed by her appearance run throughout the web series. Cinematography is very nice, a feeling of Netflix webs. The backwards are unnecessary details, too lengthy, failure to hold audience's thrilling experience till end.

"For the wages of sin is death"
msunando25 November 2021
The Baikuntha Chowdhury household in the village is abuzz, it's Durga Puja and a grand family reunion. This year all his children, I.e., the two elder sons with their respective families and the two daughters have arrived, and this time around after many years, the youngest son is also home. It's festive time. There's a television crew covering the traditional, 200 year old Puja. All is fine until Parboni, now popularly known as Rubina (Puja Banerjee) in tinsel town, turns up unannounced. She is grossly unwelcome and almost considered inauspicious in the household, but the fact is that her presence is stirring up a hitherto dormant nervousness among some. When asked why she has returned after so many years, Parboni brings forth a box full of gold ornaments that once adorned Maa Durga and had been said to have been stolen by her. While some people are aghast at the unusual recovery, some others who seem to know the facts loud and clear, but are mum. Suddenly, the old priest is found dead at his home. It's showtime, folks!

As if this unholy incident wasn't enough, the two younger sons, followed by the elder daughter also fall dead in quick succession, and the needle of suspicion now points summarily at Parboni, the only outsider. Inspector Haldar (Rahul Banerjee) investigates, using all resources possible and will leave no stone unturned until he has caught the culprit red handed.

Paap, directed by Joydeep Mukherjee is a serial murder mystery with multiple labyrinthine layers. The return to Parboni's past holds the key to what's happening, and while the motive behind the murders appears obvious, it remains clouded due to the murder of the priest and the appearance of the elder daughter's husband, Nabarun (Subhrajit Dutta), the other outsider. Is Parboni behind the murders or is someone else playing games? Whatever it be, the cup of sins of the Chowdhury household runneth over and it's payback time. "For the wages of sin is death" (Romans 6:23).

Bengali Suspense Where Logic is a Nightmare
anibose21 June 2021
Unless you are really fond of Bengali web series refrain from watching this web series. A crime drama must have some logic and be realistic. Here both are missing. 6 deaths are attended by a police officer without the presence of any doctor. The mode of murders don't fit any logic. Above all the dialogues are so monotonous. It is written by a script writer who lacks the ability of storytelling and follows the cliché pattern of senseless dialogues as in most Bengali serials.

It was really amazing watching this series, Yes scopes of improvement are always there. Ami jani akta poster final korte kotota somoye lage so great job. Senior inspector, uni toh ageo onek kichu korechen. Seriously use him as good rough character in OTT. Ki darun smoothly nishash neya tah naker( fush fush fush), erom smooth acting is very important now. Shoulder stiff thakte hobe. Serial wagrah din kichu kaku jethu, groom him more plz. Baki eta loke dekhbe,👍

For a Bengali Web-Series, It Should Be Considered Among The Very Best!
SoumikBanerjee19968 June 2021
As a Revenge Drama, "Paap" significantly conveys an impression of contentment. A deftly written piece with a potent set of characters helped to unmask the cynical shades of Patriarchate.

The plot focuses on 'The Chowdhuries' who represent an aristocratic inheritance with palpable degeneracy buried deep in the course of their heritage! One day, during the auspicious time of Durga Puja; there comes an unexpected guest 'Rubina', who claims herself to be a despised member of this Chowdhury palace. Following her arrival, all of a sudden dead bodies start to pile up. As the investigation moves forward, it threatens to unravel a bunch of unspeakable sins deeply entrenched in their family roots.

A tight-knit narrative defiantly exposes male chauvinism and the harsh realities of societal discrimination! Since time immemorial, we have always treated such privileged lineages with the utmost respect but never had the nerve to question their righteousness or simply the lack of it. Apparently, holding up a mirror to the Society as well as to those few people in question who are still to this very day and age misuse their Inherited influence on innocent lives!

Set in the milieu of everyone's beloved Durga Puja, the Cinematography here graciously apprehends the true essence of Bengali's emotional ties to these quintessential rites. The Score; despite being a bit noisy at certain times, it does the job pretty well!

Coming down to Performances; three names deserve special mention. Puja Banerjee as Adult Paru/Parboni, Ishani Das as Younger Paru/Parboni, and lastly Rahul Banerjee as Inspector Monojit Halder. An unerring display consisting of few of the finer enactments!

Before I wrap this review, I have to admit that out of all the contemporary contents in Bengali OTTs that we have seen so far; this one must be considered among the very best! In summation, A MUST-WATCH!

Season 2 is wayyyy better !!
prithachakroborti8 June 2021
Hoichoi's recent offering for the Pandemic stricken Bangali bhodrolok is the much awaited Season 2 of Revenge Drama Paap.

Watch it for the stellar performance of Rahul - his portrayal of an insensitive bangali Police officer is nuanced and superlative. Also worth mentioning are Puja Banerjee , Bhaswar Chatterjee and Mithu Chakraborty.

The cinematography is pleasing to the eyes with some solid camera work. Although the flashback scenes are disturbing to watch , they elevate the Story to a different level. The young girl portraying a teen Parboni deserves a mention. I hope OTTs take notice of her.

Climax is the real Hero of this series although if you're a self crowned home sleuth who have grown up on a healthy dose of Agatha Christie , you might be able to guess it towards the beginning of the Last Episode. Enjoy it uninterrupted & if possible alone to soak in the thrill. 😁
