Interesting plot, but not flawless.
deloudelouvain5 March 2021
100 Days To Live has its flaws but overal it's a movie that's worth a watch. The whole thing looks like a tv-movie, it could have been an episode of Law And Order, or another similar series, but then a good episode. The story itself isn't bad, not something that we really saw before so that's a bonus. The acting is okay from most of the cast but there are a couple actors that could try another job, even though it wasn't all that bad. The cinematography could have been better also. In short, it's mostly the plot that is interesting, the rest could have used some improvement.

Interesting Idea
omendata22 April 2021
A Director who has no faith in his product has to employ shills to big up the ratings - very sad , especially when his product is not that bad at all. Looks like he even got himself and his mum involved in the acting stakes but cut her scenes when he realised it was probably not a good idea lol!

Easy to check All 1 review shills which I often have to do now before i watch a movie!

No idea why they refuse to weed out and remove these reviews but hey that is the way it goes these days on IMDB but the crucial element is the rating eventually settles down to its real value eventually for most movies.

I actually quite enjoyed this film , contrary to the other bad reviews I found the acting quite passable, decent camerawork and an interesting story and it has a certain lugubrious style which is quite mesmerising at times. It is not without its issues but overall it gets a fair 6/10 from me!

didn't work
tayfrance28 September 2020
I am a prodcued writer director and part-time critic. The reason the movie generally fails is because people don't think like this, and it didn't delve into the supernatural part of the movie like it seemed like it would.

Ultimately the movie doesn't touch base with reality yet doesn't delve into the hypothetical or experimental, so it doesn't end up going anywhere. There's a lot of overacting, and the screenplay feels written by one person instead of a team. The script is unimaginative, and by that I mean it's based almost in a hyper exaggerated, brutalized version of reality with zero sense of one event having any relationship to another that takes the world, makes it unbelievable yet doesn't create one of its own.

The videography stands out as bad, and doesn't serve to make the film more interesting by capturing or creating distinct, visceral pictures. It's almost the opposite of a Coen brothers' film, in which things move naturally and the landscape is captured in a mindful, symbolic way where one scene interacts with others throughout and establish motifs, etc.

The characters ramble without purpose, are superficial and lack substance, and the overacting is unbearable. The reactions are ultimately unbelievable, which is ultimately the worst thing a movie can do seeing as how it can make the impossible believable. I am also reacting to the praise being given to a "first time filmmaker." You need to make a few features before you make a good one.

Amazing storytelling
DanTheButler20 August 2021
This movie tackled my curiosity in every way. I love trailers that hint on the synopsis without summarizing the entire film. The twist in this movie was so good. Throughout the film, I found myself continuously figuring out the ending, but being wrong every time! The acting was great and the budget was on point.

Suicide is not an easy subject and I love how this movie felt like it was for everyone. Those who can relate to such a terrible ordeal and also those who haven't experienced the struggles it can cause. It helped me understand a bit more why this kind of thing happens.

I feel this film was non-stop thrilling entertainment, but most importantly educational. A perfect execution by a first time filmmaker. Well done! 10/10.

This is NOT a Good Movie
JokerReviews3 February 2021
I honestly have to question the validity of these other high score reviews because this is NOT a good movie. The acting and writing are just god awful. Its a budget thriller, but it does not have an indie feel to it. It just feels like someone tried to make a big budget Hollywood thriller and couldn't get funding because of the terrible script.

That said the movie is watchable, but it is not really a recommendation. I would never suggest this movie to a friend, but if its on TV at like 1 in the morning you might be able to sit through it. Just that kind of movie if you know what I mean. I've seen Law & Order episodes with better performances and writing.. AND I HATE LAW & ORDER!

The plot twist was unexpected. I'll give them that much, but the previous 80 minutes wasn't worth the wait.

great movie
sethlip17 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Written and directed by Ravin Gandhi, an entrepreneur who burned three weeks of vacation time in order to make it, 100 Days to Live is a micro-budget film that punches well above its weight on many levels. Committed performances, clever plotting, and a tight pace pave over the limitations put in place by its budget. And with the energy of a hungry filmmaker bubbling through every moment, it's one of those rare shoestring productions that holds the viewer's interest until the very end.

Rebecca (Heidi Johanningmeier) is a suicide counselor whose experience with grief and loss puts her in a special position to help those in need. She's managed to move past her demons and has recently found new love in Gabriel (Colin Egglesfield), a man who has also experienced some very serious trauma. All is well until one day, Gabriel goes missing. A cryptic package is left behind in the wake of his disappearance, and it is clear that he's the latest victim of a prolific, mysterious serial killer, who abducts his victims seemingly in broad daylight. Rebecca, suddenly at a loss both emotionally and professionally, must team up with the cops to first understand, and then locate the man known only as The Savior (Gideon Emery).

Being such a sparse production, there's really no room for fat on this thing, and that's much to the film's benefit. This isn't to say, however, that the film is basic. In fact, it's the density of the plotting that takes hold of the viewer when the occasionally flat visuals and drab soundscape don't. What begins as a simple "catch a bad guy" procedural redefines itself at regular intervals throughout the narrative. There are elements within that you've seen before, but not necessarily assembled as such. The resulting film is one that is difficult to define without spoiling, but is extremely watchable due to the fact that it's hard to know what to expect. What starts as a movie about the "who" of it all soon becomes about the "why" and the "how." These carrots are dangled efficiently, and done so by a team of actors who work very hard to elevate each moment.

100 Days to Live is fully aware of its financial limitations and smartly chooses to ignore them. So often we see a super-cheapie cut corners in one area to overfund another, resulting in an uneven, rough final product. The willingness to put every resource available equally into each aspect of production manifests on the screen nicely, and it's hard not to feel swept up in the "I'm gonna make a movie if it's the last thing I do" of it all.

Gandhi shows a visual intuitiveness that is uncommon in first-time filmmakers, especially those working within such a small timeframe. While the cinematography looks occasionally flat, the shot choices are smartly applied, and draw the eye to subtleties in the performances. A few instances of surrealism are where the cinematography really shines, as well as in how the city is shot. Chicago looks beautiful here, and it's great to see the Windy City as the backdrop for a story that isn't expressly about Chicago as a civic center. As a cinephile who lives in Philly, I love seeing my city on screen in a way that feels homely and utilitarian as opposed to gigantically metropolitan. I suspect this would be the same for Chicagoans watching 100 Days to Live.

One hopes Ravin Gandhi has some more vacation time building up, because I'd love to see what he can do next.

After the film, I implore you to stick around and read the credits. Firstly, it's important to recognize the many people who worked to bring a project like this to life, but there's also a wonderful message from the filmmaker that I found quite inspiring. 100 Days to Live is proof positive that in the absence of resources, all you really need is a good story and the desire to tell it.

Any random episode of CSI is better than this
tukenukemi2 February 2021
I know, its done with a cheap ass budget, but that is no excuse to miss the mark in every possible category. We used to make better "movies" by ourselves when we were in grade school for crying out loud. This movie is supposed to be some sort of a thriller, but as the identity of the murderer is revealed in a very early stage, very little suspense remains as the story unravels. So, the movie flattens down to cheesy melodrama with attempts to give half-assed life lessons and throw in a few curve balls throughout the runtime. The problem here however is that as none of the actors involved cant actually act, script is dull, and the director lacks the required finesse for effective delivery, it all feels meaningless. In addition, pacing of the movie is all over the place, editing sucks, cinematography is bad and the "emotional" musical score sounds very cheap. I give one extra star for decent try, but I would advise everybody to skip this and watch any other horror/thriller/drama movie you can find.

Good twist, bad ending
DomsDad17 June 2021
I really wasn't sure where this was going for the first half. Then when the twist hit, I thought wow what a great plot! However, the ending for me was just not right. I don't want to give anything away so I'll just leave it at that.

thechifley5 February 2021
This movie is far from 8s 9s and whoever gave it a 10 must be a relative! I love movies, I watch a lot of movies. This is a 4 at best. It is just not executed as good as it could be. Acting is almost okay, story could have done a lot better. I wish i had read an honest review before waisting my time.

The Wounded Healer
lavatch4 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
There is a fantastical premise to "100 Days to Live" in which a satanic figure makes a pact with vulnerable, suicidal people to enjoy 100 days of happiness in return to surrendering themselves up to him at the end of the period.

The Faustian bargain is conceived by a complete nut case named Victor Quinn, who once worked the phones in a suicide prevention center. He uses his position to entrap his victims, including the kind-hearted and emotionally damaged Gabriel, the fiancé of Rebecca Church, a devoted counselor.

The film unfolds its premise from the perspective of Rebecca, who works closely with a conscientious police detective named Jack Byers. Rebecca and Jack form a bond to put Victor out of business. While it was a stretch to buy into idea of the pact, the screenplay was well-constructed with an especially clever ending.

The strength of the film was in the outstanding performances, especially the actress playing Rebecca. Her character was referred to as "the wounded healer." Her mother died of suicide when she was nine, and Rebecca has flirted with suicide on multiple occasions. But is clear that she is a skillful counselor and an inherently strong person.

The film was a kind of parable with Rebecca the good angel vies with Victor the fallen angel. As unpleasant as the film was, it nonetheless evoked how fragile the human psyche is when confronted with shocking loss. It also examines the spiritual and practical considerations of what it means to be "saved."

Lots of potential let down by terrible acting
BlockLike4 February 2021
As far as a thriller goes, I liked the story and premise.

It had bags of potential and some decent cinematography.

Sadly, the hammy acting and terrible lead performance really let it down.

I get it's a smaller indy film, but some of the acting was downright painful at times and when it's the main lead who is the worst, it really takes away from a film that could have been great.

Seriously, with some better actors this would have been great.

Great use of flashbacks to tell the story
revba15 August 2021
The subject matter of this film is not something I normally watch but this film is the exception. I was happy that flashbacks were used were it was deemed necessary to explain background of characters. It left me without having to ask questions nor was their gaping holes in the story.

It is about control over people's lives and this particular type of story was very good. The plot twist for the ending was completely a surprise. The acting was very good throughout this movie. I'm so glad I viewed it.

Some sort of crime thriller. Not really worth watching unless you've run out of options. It could have been good. Reasonable acting, but the story lets it down.

Dreadful
dbizsley18 November 2021
Bad Script, bad acting, bad editing and bad direction.

The film wants to be clever and have twists and a interesting story yet never develops the characters and the entire premise of the script is just kind of dumb.

offensive and sacrilegious
depdep-3074023 September 2020
Maybe it was a gripping film as a thriller, and I can potentially appreciate artistic intent. But my son killed himself last year, and the fact that suicide was a "plot point" was simply too much! Suicide is a sin on humanity and should not be discussed so openly. Certain topics should not be crossed under the eyes of our divine lord. I worry that people might get tempted in the way movies promote violence...I believe the filmmakers intended this film to have a positive message but they should not get too cute with this subject.

Death.
bombersflyup5 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
100 Days to Live is dreary, unconvincing and unsavory.

Don't know what the point of the film is. Quinn seemed to have little influence, that we know of. They accomplished these things themselves. Acting's sub-par.

Slow Suicide Killer Thriller
dbrookfield4 February 2021
Really depressing material with the focus on suicide. B-movie production values, but passable. Kind of a slow burn, but takes an interesting twist halfway through or so, which is partially redeeming. The plot then hits a moment of confusion but gets back on track and manages to wrap up with another decent twist at the end. Maybe an acceptable time waster, but I just don't understand the high ratings at this time (7+). It ain't Cape Fear (nod to the ripped guy with the tattoos).

wow!
xavvxa18 March 2021
I just rented this last night after seeing it reviewed a few places - it actually has a 100% FRESH rating on RT which was sorta confusing because I saw all of these really horrible comments here.

Anyway I took a risk and so glad I did - this was a very smart, gripping film and it's beyond nonsensical to read the haters here tearing the film apart. The twist was mind blowing and made me think about lots of stuff about life, even this morning.

Please do your own research, read the critic reviews (there are over 20 on the main page here) not trolls who spend their days watching indie films and spewing hateful anonymous opinions.

Gabriel was Saved
nogodnomasters16 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Gabriel (Colin Egglesfield) and Rebecca (Heidi Johanningmeier ) are a happy couple newly engaged. Gabriel is taken by The Savior killer who stalks his victims for 100 days, kidnaps and then kills them. We find out early that Victor Quinn (Gideon Emery) is the killer and all the victims tried to commit suicide.

The characters are boring. The story need some real actors to carry the dull script. Last few minutes has a couple of twists in an attempt to make the film interesting. Too bad it was ruined by then.

Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity.

100% proof that IMDB can be spoofed
A_Different_Drummer15 February 2021
The movie -- only Johanningmeier acquits herself well, presenting an interesting character fighting against a terrible script and direction . The initial 10 mins are interesting and then the movie implodes. >>><<< The reviews -- easily the most extensive IMDB spoofing effort ever. Forensic analysis of the sentence structure in all the 10/9/8 reviews shows they were all written by the same "team" - even the headers are similar in style.

Amateur hour
movieman-2275 May 2021
How does this turkey have a 100% RT rating?

I get Dick Roeper--he's a hack, and it's a Chicago production after all--but the rest?

For shame.

Awful, awful movie: terrible acting, pedestrian execution and a fatally dumb script that could have been written by a precocious 14-year-old who saw too many direct-to-DVD "Se7evn" rip-offs.

The whole thing reeks of amateurishness.

great surprise
jeevalexa12 April 2021
100 Days to Live was about as surprising a film as you can get. When I purchased this film I honestly knew nothing about it. Never heard of it, saw a trailer, or anything of the like. But after unwrapping this mid-budget Indie film I couldn't have been more surprised. It was similar to opening up your Christmas gifts when you were a kid. You'd stumble upon that one gift and open it up only to realize it's not what you expected but you enjoyed the heck out of playing with it anyhow. For a film with a really small budget the impact it had on me was anything but small due to it's excellently told story full of twists and turns and it's surprisingly great acting.

The film moves at an incredibly snappy pace and has some really good dialogue throughout to keep the story fresh. As you would expect the film dives into a lot of serious subjects like suicide and depression and for the most part it comes out with promising results. While I have read some reviews that have claimed the film is boring or slow I honestly did not feel that way at all. There were two specific twists that were really, really well done. Right when I thought I knew where the story was going it veered off into left field and I couldn't have enjoyed that twist more. Aside from some clumsy mishaps from the police and detectives and questionable decisions they made everything else feels really believable as well. Nothing regarding the core of this story comes across as far-fetched or unbelievable. As the film begins to unravel and you begin to learn more about Rebecca, Gabriel, and "The Savior" big revelations take place that I certainly enjoyed. This is an ambitious and creative script and one that first time writer-director Ravin Gandhi pulls off pretty dang well.

The acting is also really, really well done. Heidi Johanningmeier nails every facet of Rebecca incredibly well and it surprises me that when I looked up her filmography it was quite bare. She delivers a great well rounded performance as Rebecca and I loved watching her do it. Colin Eggelsfield's Gabriel is also really good delivering some very emotional scenes that really help carry the character of Gabriel. Gideon Emery's "The Savior" is an emotional but insane serial killer that has specific reasons for why he targets who he does and why he's doing what he's doing. Gideon gives the role both menace and empathy and it makes this particular serial killer stand out from other one dimensional serial killers.

The directing is also really good jumping from flashbacks to different characters to different victims. You never know quite where the film is going to go and Ravin Gandhi handles it all exceptionally well. Even though you can tell he had a very small budget to work with he truly makes the most out of every last cent he used. This is a small budget indie film wrapped in a big budget thriller. I really enjoy when writers also direct their own film because it allows that film to really be fully expressive of their initial vision. Nothing seems taken for granted and everything seems earnest and earned to what their original vision must have been. I certainly look forward to seeing more of his work in the future.

100 Days to Live surprised me at every single twist and turn. I was enthralled with this film from beginning to end. While it's certainly not heavy on action or gore it's certainly heavy on very interesting well told story threads and really well written characters. Don't just listen to the negative reviews on this one because I truly believe they don't paint a fair picture here. This is a hidden indie gem that deserves more than 100 Days (to Live) in the spotlight.

Low Budget So Called "Horror" Movie
peteromara-4138312 February 2021
After reading the overall good ratings I was looking forward to a good film. Unfortunately I was disappointed. The film started out well but after a while became bogged down with a terrible script. The worst thing was the cheap & cheesy music which destroyed any suspense the film was trying to present.
