A revolutionary Bangladeshi cinema
adibshahriar29 July 2022
First of all yes it is a slow burn but the cinematography and the ambience is so fantastic it won't ever let you feel bored. Then comes the stellar acting performances by the whole cast. Chanchal chowdhury was fabulous.

Mistery & Mastery
rehmanshakibczs29 July 2022
Definitely a good Bangla film. The cinematography, sound was just out of the world. Actors did there best to make it a huge hit. It has a back story, hope that the director will come up with that story too. Need more Bangla films like "Hawa" in this industry.

Pleasantly Surprised! A Supernatural-Slasher for Bangladeshi Cinema!
sanjidparvez30 July 2022
Ill fortune follows on the boat of Chan Majhi (Chanchal Chowdhury), when his group of fishermen finds a beautiful young woman in their fishing net at the mid-sea. Tension rises along with mistrust, misfortune and body-count when mystery surrounding the 'mute-woman' gradually starts to reveal with deadly consequences.

Beautifully shot, capturing the ever lustful appeal of Bay of Bengal and nuances of life on the sea, director Mejbaur Rahman Sumon mostly succeeds in HAWA for skillful framing and some stunning cinematography. But a big thumbs up also goes to the whole cast for their standout performances on their respective roles.

Based on a Siren-like local folklore, HAWA is a pleasant surprise for a Bangladeshi cinema that offers a twisted tale of supernatural with a little dose of "Slasher" also in its tensed 2nd half! Considering the general standard of genre-filmmaking in BD, the film indeed deserves all the hype.

Awesome Cinematography, weak story
shubro425 August 2022
From the very beginning, the cinematography of the movie catches the eyes. Color grading, Camerawork, Music and Acting - all are totally on point. But, when the storytelling parts come, there are so many "but" and "why" that need to be answered.

The first half of the movie is a kind of story buildup time and after the interval, events got pace. My only regret is that a movie that could be a masterpiece with a rating of 9 easy, ended up being a great movie with an average story, just like the last season of "Game of Thrones". Only if they changed a couple of events at the end, it could be a long-remembered classic in Bangla Movie Industry.

Hawa is a Classic Cinema!!
alomfahad31 July 2022
Hawa was an awesome movie! This hawa movie will become another milestone in Bangladesh.

The movie is divided into three parts.

First, the director has built up the characters of each person.

Second, the story has progressed in accordance with the character!

Thirdly, the climax as a finishing touch is very well arranged and coordinated.

All in all a classic movie enjoyed.

The story was of a different religion which was quite good.

Cinema theater movie will give a different experience., will touch everyone's heart.

I will give the movie 10 out of 10 from me.

In a word, classic movie.

Worth watching but still a regret of not being top-notch
marsadmohiuddin29 July 2022
The regret is actually created because of the hype which was created before release. Expectations were high and "Hawa" was quite successful in fulfilling that expectation. The acting was best of the best. Screenplay, script, dialogue, direction, cinematography, characters and everything was so perfect and excellent where the only thing which was lacking was "Story". There is a positive side to this also. As the story is not very complex, everyone will understand the story and the movie will be for everyone.

If the hype was not created, like, suddenly it had been released in an OTT platform or in few halls, then the craze it would create is beyond imagination.

Overall Hawa is great.

The international level of work in Bangladeshi cinema
shorifulami3 August 2022
This cinema is great. I guess one of the best work of Bangladeshi cinema.

Positive: ->makeup and hairstyle department: this was the best thing this cinema . Every actor was looking like they are real fishermen ->acting: the way everyone acts that was too good. Chanchal Chowdhury is getting another national award for this work for sure. Not only him everyone did very good job cinematography-> l was so happy after seeing this level of cinematography in any of bangla movie. That was missing from any movies of Bangladesh.

Directing-> Directing was better than any of todays movies of bangladesh.

Negetive: story-> the story was the only drawback of the movie. The ending couldn't deliver us a satisfying answer of the suspense l wanted to give it 7.5/10 . But that doesn't possible in IMDB.

Brilliant performqnce by the vast
muntasir-ahmed29 July 2022
Brilliant Casting Exceptional performance by the entire cast Top notch cinematography.

This movie is a must watch. Its a piece of art.

With a slow start, you have to wait for the magic of the story and performance to bloom. I felt the smell of salty water, greed, heat and the sweat. Salute to the entire production team. They loved their work and it shows on the screen. Bangladeshi movie telling is coming off age.

Mediocre 6.5/10
anturaihan29 July 2022
Except the fun part in the first half, this movie is a huge let down, couldn't live up to the hype it created. Don't listen to Remnant Glimpse.

.

Chanchal Chowdhury was phenomenal as always.

. Nasir Uddin Khan was brilliant with his fun and humorous slangs, totally stole the show in the first half.

. This movie is for mature audience, consists a lot of deshi gali which may cause problems for parents who may want to watch this movie with their children.

. Personal Rating: 6.5/10.

. But put aside the high expectation part, this type of genre is new in our country, a new experience, everyone should go to theatres and rate it based on their from their own POV.

#Hawa #hawafilm.

Good but needs to be better in future
islamhasibul-6065329 July 2022
The whole movie is for a different genre people who loves watching slow movie like me.

Nasir and Chanchal was outstanding on their way of acting like always. The dubbing sound editing might be a little better. But it's really exciting to see this kinda different type of story in Bangladeshi film industry.

A blank bioscope
captainjacktheluffy27 March 2023
A blank bioscope, there is nothing actually in it. It's empty of storytelling, and direction, and it will annoy your ear with continuous irritating Background music. It steals your time and money and failed to produce as your expectations. A dull cinema going nowhere, the primary-level script makes it more hurtful to watch. Lack of story, screenplay, script, and acting. In recent days cinematography has become an average feature. So let's not talk about the cinematography, it's the only good thing that remains.

Better if you do not watch this, you could have lost faith in bengali people's hype.

(""HAWA"" IS A MASTERPIECE MOVIE IN 2022)
hri-3013631 July 2022
I couldn't agree with many of the reviews here. There are three potential aspects to watch a movie.

Like Screenplay, Acting, Direction all of which are there in this hawa movie!.

This movie is not for many who love masterpiece movies or are used to watching classic movies.

I have been watching movies for 12 years but the movie I watched today was really amazing feeling which I can't understand in words. I will not give any spoilers, just say that those who have not seen the movie should watch the movie at least once.

best bangladeshi movie...worth of money
gyeyeyuyuyyyuygwgyweec1 October 2022
Hawa", a recently released Bangladeshi movie, has become a crowd puller, thanks to its distinct plot, musical composition and impressive cinematography.

Chanchal Chowdhury (as Chan Majhi, the lead actor and captain of the boat), Nazifa Tushi (as Gulti, the lone female cast), Sariful Razz (as Ibrahim, a sailor) and others played their individual roles with high competency. Struggling lives of seasoned fishermen on board "Nayan Tara", a lost fishing boat in the deep sea of Bay of Bengal amidst rough, stormy and hostile weather conditions got skillfully depicted through some bold, energetic and realistic performance. The plot of the movie created sensation due to its themes of basic human instincts like greed, desire, conflicts, mystery, thrill and suspense, boosted by creative and mystical dose of fairytale fantasy, love and revenge. Though a winning note of good over evil justifiably wrapped up the entertaining production yet scenes containing excessive slangs and gory violence could somewhat be altered or trimmed to make the movie a more family friendly one. Popular folk musical number, "Shada, shada, kala, kala / Tumi bondhu kala pakhi" stole limelight in the most deserving fashion. It has been aesthetically pleasing to watch the immense vastness of the boundless sea and its natural splendors, thanks to some excellent works of cinematography, VFX and 3D animation. Sound editing has been praiseworthy though a few key dialogues seemed less audible at times.

Above all, it has been a delight to see the cine-goers joyfully thronging the theatres to watch "Hawa", the stimulating box-office hit, one finely infused with blended elements of reality and fable.

Very wonderful song
gobindokumer52816 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
After listening to the song, I want to watch the movie. Heartfelt thanks to the person who wrote the song. Then the way the song is presented together cannot be expressed. Especially those who danced to the song felt better. No one can sit quietly. Even those who don't know how to dance will dance after listening to this song. But I am sure no one will be able to stay silent if they watch the movie. Listen to this kind of song more and more. Finally thanks to all members of Hawa team. If I didn't see the whole master piece I would have missed it. It is our culture, it is our tradition. Many thanks to Hawa team. In 2022, this kind of international quality work was very much needed.

"Hawa" movie is the best movie of Bangladesh in 2022.
ap-8460831 July 2022
I watched the movie "Hawa" today.

A masterpiece movie. Everyone's acting is amazing, dialogue delivery just nailed it, cinematography is simply amazing. All in all "hawa movie" is 10 out of 10

Not to mention another person, he is Chanchal Chowdhury, the legendary actor of Bangladesh.

In short, Chanchal Chowdhury was the master of this movie.

There should be more movies like this in the history of Bangladesh.

The hype is not justified
SaberaSurovy5 August 2022
Chanchal Chowdhury and the acting of the other cast members were outstanding, no doubt in that, and the cinematography was praise worthy. That is the only reason I am giving it a 7.

Here's what I didn't like. It is a story driven movie and the story wasn't that good to be honest. Even if the acting was good, it doesn't really make it up for the in the story.

Sure, such theme is this new for Bangladeshi cinema but to be honest I have seem movies like this and I have seen better.

The ending was not good, there's no sugar coating in that.

But I do appreciate that the directors and script writers are trying new things and getting a good response from the audience. But as a film critic I do think we have a long way ahead of us.

Hawa is The Game changer of Dhallywood
ifukyourdisagree5 October 2022
No Bangladeshi film in recent memory has created such hype in the hearts of the audience as Hawa, a film directed by Mejbaur Rahman Sumon. The film has been released in twenty-four halls across the country, and all tickets have been sold out for nearly a week.

Such a feat has never been seen before, at least in a decade. The film has rocked the cradle with amazing tracks like 'Shada Shada Kala Kala,' 'E Hawa,' and had there been a music chart in our industry, the two songs would have been chart-busters.

Extensive marketing and promotion create additional pressure on films, as it raises the bar high. Most of the time, the film fails to deliver a result good enough to back such promotion, but not this time. Hawa has lived up to everybody's expectations, and in places, exceeded them.

The film is not an art-house film per se like Rehana Mariam Noor, nor a commercial film like Poran or Din The Day. The film treads the fine line between the two sections and stands apart. The film is hard to categorise into a certain genre. All that can be said is that it is a nice potboiler of mystery, thrills, and fantasy.

The film relies on its storyline and the performances of the actors, which is indicative of the prowess of Mejbaur Rahman Sumon and the screenwriters, Faruque Jahan Amin and Sukorno Shahed Dhiman. The cinematography has been the best in Dhallywood so far, as has been the CGI and graphics (unlike a certain hundred-crore film!).

The film has a distinctly local vibe, from its background music to its treatment of the plot, the audience will find the lingering smell of their own story. Everything has been developed from scratch, and all the characters have gone through their distinctive arcs.

The film could have treated its ending with a bit more nuance and care, but that is alright. The plot is a slow-burning journey with some explosive, raw moments of conflict where the audience will be on the edge of their seats. The film is full of expletives and some adult bits, and the uncensored expletives result in some of the most hilarious moments in the film.

Several prominent actors appeared in the film, including Chanchal Chowdhury, Nazifa Tushi, Sariful Razz, Shohel Mondol, Nasir Uddin Khan, and Sumon Anowar, and everyone delivered.

Veteran actor Chanchal Chowdhury has stolen the spotlight as Chaan Majhi, the captain of the fishing boat. Shariful Razz has delivered the best performance of his career so far (such lines have been written after Gunin and Poran as well!). Nazifa Tushi as Gulti has left an impact on the screen with her powerful performance. Both Nasir Uddin Khan and Sumon Anwar have lived up to their names, as has Sohel Mondol, even though he did not have much screen presence.

The technical aspects of the film have been superb, even though the background music has been too loud to hear the actual dialogues of the film at times. The scale on which the film has been made is immensely attractive and grandiose. Sometimes the actors spoke in proper Bangla, not in the dialect, which felt a little out of place.

The film could be a game-changer for the Bangladeshi film industry. Give it a try, just make sure the children are not with you; well, it's not an adult film either.

10/10 Masterpiece.

'HAWA' Story of a movie being super hit due to just one song!!!
shakil-860775 August 2022
Cinematography was very good but the story line was NADA!!!

No base of it's story, just multiple clips to make the movie attractive!

I wonder how come most of viewers haven't marked it as a foul movie yet!!!

Ambitious but overrated
shadmanhasan-3619118 September 2022
The cinematography on this movies is absolutely mesmerising, color grading is the best you will see. All the actors deserve a round of applause for the amazingly natural acting. All good right? Perfect movie right? Well no, the story build up is slow to start of with, scenes are stretched quite a bit when they could have been much shorter. After all that build up you are left with an extremely disappointing ending, and you feel like the story has so substance. All that build up led to nothing. No matter how good the cinematography and execution is, the story is key in any movie. The last 30-40 minutes just kills the movie. I feel people are just overhyping and fan boing over it.
