Awesome series with realistic set pieces, intense drama and splendid performances from a great Spanish cast
ma-cortes19 October 2020
A nice series dealing with six riot policemen who carry out an allegedly ordinary assignment : an eviction, but then things go wrong . As the squadron realizing their police work is charged with involuntary homicide. As it results in an ill-fated eviction with fateful consequences. Along the way a team of investigation of Internal Affairs takes charge of interrogating them and discover the reality of the events .

The series packs the thrilling developing an eviction, it is magnificently shot with tension , movement , thriller and being extremely realist . There are various interesting roles being well portrayed , including an engaging and provoking character studio. As the motley members of the squad attempt to follow their own way out which ends up causing confrontation and rifts among them . The group of protagonists are frankly excelent , giving portentous interpretations, such as Raúl Arevalo , Alex García, Patrick Criado, Roberto Alamo , Raul Prieto, Keuchkerian , while Vicky Luengo plays perfectly the obstinate Police Inspector of the Internal Affairs who becomes really obsessed with the twisted case discovering below the unfortunate eviction there is anything else .

The series was competently created and directed by Rodrigo Sorogoyen. Rodrigo has directed successful TV series as Pecera de Eva , Fragiles , Vida Loca , Impares . He has made notorious films as 8 citas, Stockholm , Que Dios nos perdone or My God save us , El Reino or The Candidate , and usually working with his fetish actor : Antonio de la Torre . Furthermore , he made a short that was Oscar nominated titled : Madre , subsequently Rodrigo became into a long running film. Rating : 7.5/10 . Better than average . Well worth watching .

Awesome!

Amazing, realistic series. When I thought it was going to be about random daily "adventures" of a bunch of riot policemen, it turned out a deep plot amazingly played by great actors, who portray with absolute realism the Spanish character and life.

In a few years it will be a cult series
rgomezatd24 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
In a few years it will be a cult series. Well set series, with good scripts and good actors who do not dedicate themselves to reciting, you believe them at all times. There's a single shot scene in 10 minute episode 6 that is the best I've seen in years. Although it describes the IPU quite well and tells the story through them, you realize that in reality the objective of the series is not that but rather a network of corruption in which businessmen and judges are involved. There are 4 things that could be improved that I have not liked: 1- evictions are not exactly like that, especially because they are defended from the portal and not from the house. 2- songs are used in the clubs of 2019 when the year of the series is 2016. 3- I have plenty of Laia's dust with alex. 4- not very credible that in the end Laia goes to look for Commissioner Villarejo alone after the scare that the Romanians give her the night before. Otherwise it is an incredible series.

At last!
dalescotbates25 March 2021
Don't get me wrong, I quite like Spanish police series, on the whole. It's something that Spanish TV can do in a manner that passes for entertainment. Some of them are even pretty damn reasonable. However, they always have something that messes the whole thing up. At the moment I am two episodes in with this, so perhaps I am jumping the gun here. And, yes! A couple of things I could see coming from miles away. But, and it's a very important "but," this little series could wipe the floor with most Yank cop shows and even a couple of British ones. It seems slighlty reminiscent of Line of Duty but, so far, not as so completely unbelievable. I mean, given Spanish TV's record for gritty realism, this is quite an achievment. For exmaple, La Casa de Papel, as entertaining as it is, is complete and utter toss! Line of duty is pretty daft but it doesn't go in for the comedic antics of that show that wear thin after the first few episodes. I am really surprised that companies like Netflix, the BBC, HBO or even Amazon are not all over this. Truly brilliant! Hats off to everybody involved in this. To the makers of this show, by the way, do yoursleves a favour, sell this thing to some big expensive TV network. This should be much bigger than La Casa de Papel.

Great mini series
danielcereto6 December 2020
As Spaniard I can't be more proud about a mini series as I am with this one. First, acting is fantastic, raw and credible from all the cast. Only a few renowned actors on the cast but enough to make this one great. Second, the story is intense and interesting. This one is not your Hollywood standard script. It's twisted and interesting, from beginning to the end. On the other hand, I think it could have been great adding a second season, but it is what it is. So, overall close to a masterpiece.

Very accurate.

I was 25 years as a " riot cop " and this TV series does a great job of showing how it is. Life on the van , the chaos of a violent hostile crowd, the confusion and questionable ethics involved in evictions , the stress of being under investigation, the impact on your home life, the comradeship and how it can all turn sour under pressure. Clearly the makers had input from serving or retired Police. Sure some things are exaggerated for dramatic effect but by and large this is nailed on. Great acting and also a fantastic soundtrack. I would highly recommend this TV series.

Are All Cops B....as the Stefano Sollima's film made in 2012 suggested? If you watch closely both films, the topics and directing skills are very close, very...If not nearly similar. The true and so realistic way to describe the inner life and issues which street cops meet in the modern world, so close to what we see each week here, in France, where it is always question of brutality and violence pulled against or by policemen in their duty. This pure jewel from Spain doesn't only emphasize on the police burden but also on the social and politics problems, such as poverty, migrants, bribery, corruption spreading everywhere. Yes, this is defintely a social drama, more than a crime. Acting, directing, screenplay, everything is terrific. The only little drawback I would mention is in the fifth episode. But I will describe it on this episode comment line. Read it....

Very good indeed
laduqesa10 July 2021
There has been so much good stuff from Spain recently. This is one of the better cop series and one of the best I have seen in any language.

I'd imagined that the story would focus on the everyday tasks of the riot squad and their interactions both amongst themselves and with the public. Indeed, the first episode, masterfully shot almost in documentary style, plunged us immediately into their work, this time to evict a family from a decaying building. As the storyline states, things go wrong and a man dies.

From here on in, Internal Affairs has a large part to play in the story and the narrative mainly switches from the squad's job as a reserve against disorder to how the investigation affects the members and their solidarity.

Despite their being plot twists, they are not easy to predict, although I got who was one of the secret baddies at the end of episode four (we know who most of the others are).

I liked the opening scene of the first episode which established Laia as a person who would take no nonsense and would insist on the truth whatever the cost. That's in a family situation and she is no less direct at work. However, she is not immune to making a deal with the devil to get her case solved.

I guess there will be a second season and I shall, on the strength of this, be watching it.

Good production and acting
pablo_moriano26 October 2020
Reliable characters who portray the tough lives of a group of riot police offices involved in several cases related to death and blackmail. Not to mention the plot regarding Internal Affairs and political corruption. Well done as usual in Movistar TV series.

Spanish typical nonsense
mozo-705-7325708 April 2023
Riot Police" is a poorly written and overly dramatized portrayal of Spain's national police force. The show's attempts at creating tense and action-packed scenes fall flat, with clunky dialogue and unconvincing acting taking away from any potential excitement. The characters are one-dimensional and lack depth, making it difficult to care about their struggles or motivations. Overall, "Riot Police" fails to deliver on its promise of a thrilling police drama and instead comes off as a cheap and forgettable series.

No ways to interact, no interest whatsoever it's just a Useless waste of precious time.

Boring
vincent-8354426 May 2021
There is a lot of great spanish TV shows. Unfortunately this one is not one of them. The main reason is the lack of action and suspens in this investigation.

The main actress is so annoying. This is evidenced by the opening scene. There is absolutely nothing to like about her.

Besides not even one character is likable due to poor writting.

The actors are just doing the job. Nothing more.

How about photography? Again it's very basic. No identity at all in the direction. The choice of filming the actors in wide angle close up is questionable.

It is not easy to find some positive points in this TV show. For me it was just a waste of my time.

Vicky Luengo ruins all
atomasmoreno2 September 2021
The series is really slow and a bit boring... It's good to explain what happens in these units, but to feel true and to learn from you need a good casting. The lines are good but she plays so badly that ruins all.
